Hello and welcome to the Bright Star Podcast
In my years of working in PR I have been very grateful to meet some amazing people from all different back grounds and walks of life. I wanted to bring some of my favourite and inspirational people who I have spent time with to chat about their lives, what makes them tick and always with a sprinkling of PR !
This episode has the amazing Rebecca Adlington OBE, a former competitive swimmer who specialised in freestyle events in international competition. She has won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics and at the same time broken the 19-year-old world record of Janet Evans in the 800-metre final. Becky was Britain's first Olympic swimming champion since 1988, and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908. After winning her first World Championship gold over 800 metres in 2011, along with silver in the 400 metres at the same meet, she won bronze medals in both the women's 400-metre and 800-metre freestyle events in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

In 2013, Becky retired from all competitive swimming, at the age of 23. Since retiring as a competitor, she has worked for BBC TV as a swimming pundit at the Olympic Games,  World Aquatics Championships, become an ambassador for women in sport, patrons of charities, started her own business Becky’s Swim stars AND is married with 2 children….

We chat:
What she does with her Olympic medals
How she copes with social media scrutiny
What its like being an Olympian
And always with a sprinkling of PR

Enjoy !
