John the Baptist faced a powerful temptation that most men would have given into.
His popularity knew no limits. He was held in esteem, and many thought he was the Messiah or the prophet Elijah. Even King Herod liked to hear John preach. But then we read that his crowds had begun to diminish. John was not bitter nor envious; instead, he rejoiced! His humility was the key to his greatness as we will see in John 3:22-30.
