This time we're discussing The Gunpowder Plot (also known as Bonfire Night, Guy Fawkes Night or Fireworks Night). I though it was rather topical given that it's the 5th November!
The Gunpowder Plot was an English Catholic plot against the Protestant King James I (r. 1603-25) and his government. The plot ultimately failed, but the legacy it left behind has been an annual celebration in Britain every night on 5th November.
