In 2020, Dan Franklin wrote one of the best books I’ve ever read about the caustic enigma that is heavy metal. It was called - because why call it anything else - Heavy, and even within a corner of music book publishing that is saturated with said subject matter, it stood alone as definitive and hugely insightful.
