After Hours Update
Speaker 1After Hours . After Hours , after Hours . Hello and welcome to After Hours .
Speaker 2Hello , your voice sounds so quiet and calming , like we're going to be putting people to sleep , I mean it is after hours , so it's good to sleep . Hello and welcome to After Hours . Hello .
Speaker 1Hello . Oh man , it's been a while .
Speaker 2It has been a while . Yeah , yeah , it's been we've had a whole holiday yeah .
Speaker 1Lots of things . Lots of things happened , I think , early October is the last time we did this .
Speaker 2No , isn't it really been that long ?
Speaker 1Yeah , or maybe it was beginning of November .
Speaker 2Yeah , maybe .
Speaker 1I can't remember , we can't remember when it was Exactly what I was about to say .
Speaker 2It's long enough that we don't know how long it was Lots of things happened , so lots has happened . Yeah .
Speaker 1So do you want to go first ?
Speaker 2Ready to go green ? Sure , why not ? I am , I am yellow . I'll say yellow , I'll say green . Yeah , you're freezing , you're like you're disconnecting there . We did say technical difficulties before we started , I guess , do you not ?
Speaker 1update your OS on Mac Because it is all kinds of problems .
Speaker 2Yeah , it's same . Yeah , do not update . I highly discourage that . I will be going back , for sure . I'm going to uninstall Sonoma , I think , and just go back to the old OS . Yeah , so I'm yellow .
Speaker 2Let's see where to start . Let's start with the good things . Thanksgiving was good . I flew down to see my parents in Florida . That was a fun trip . They pretty much just seemed to have one singular mission to get me high the entire time I was there . So that was because my parents are stoners and so I was in their old age anyway , and so pretty much just was knee-briated with different things and rode around on a golf cart , which you have experienced and know all about , and yeah , so it was fun . It was kind of fun just being the three of us . Honestly , it's something that hasn't really happened in a really long time , so it was kind of fun and relaxing .
Speaker 2And then what else ? Oh well , finished recording for the EP . Anyway , I do have kind of some long-term plans , if it all unfolds properly , where between now and maybe next summer I can save up the funds to do the other half of it and actually get the whole album done . That I wanted to get done , so , but the EP is done completely . I just got the master for the next single back yesterday , let's say for a single . Technically it's the second single and it sounds absolutely amazing and I'm super pumped about it . So there's those things to be thankful for . Very excited about jobs going fine , as good as an alcohol distributor can be in the holiday season , I guess . Honestly , not as bad as I thought it was going to be , though . And yeah , and I'm actually kind of killing it Best I've got better numbers than the other on-premise people that are on the team , and I haven't even really been trying . I've been on half autopilot for this whole job in doing other things like editing podcast episodes and making music . So yeah , in that regard it's been great .
Speaker 2But here's the yellow in my life right now . I recently tried . I recently decided that it was time for me to do away with my car because it was not functional in my current life anymore . It was way too much gas for as much as I was driving . It was a way that the manual was causing me issues , having driving a stick shift in the traffic and all this stuff , and you know it's funny , honestly . I was thinking back and I was like a lot of the manual transmissions that I've driven never hurt me , but this one did , and I think it's because it was a Jeep . So you set upright and pushing down on a clutch in a certain motion was just like really uncomfortable . And did I ever tell you I don't know between me and you did I ever tell you what was wrong with my knee ? Remember , my knee was all swollen on the bachelor trip .
Speaker 1Yeah , was it from driving your car .
Speaker 2So I got diagnosed with early onset arthritis in my left knee . From the doctor she was like do you drive a stick shift ? And I was like I do , yeah , particularly uncomfortable when she was like that's probably what has flared it up and caused her to use . So I was pretty dead set on just like switching something up and I decided to try the Carvana method because the route anyway , because I have like five people that I know that have done Carvana and they loved it . So it was a really great experience and have to deal with salespeople loved that thought .
Speaker 1Everything's on that . That's what we did for the van Right .
Speaker 2Yeah , you're one of the people . I was thinking I had more people in my life that had done Carvana and had a really good experience . Well , so I ended up
Carvana Car Purchase and Issues
Speaker 2getting . I found a really good deal on one of my dream cars , which is a Volkswagen Golf GTI , and got it last week and I ended up deciding . I decided that they you know they do the whole thing where they drive is deliver it to your car , to your door or whatever . And I decided that was probably not wise , considering where I live and on a hill in an apartment complex , and I was like I don't think you're going to bring a car in here . So I decided to just go meet them at their , their hub or whatever across town . And so I went there , picked it up , like I mean , yeah , it looks , looks great , everything's fine , no joke .
Speaker 2The moment I drive it off the parking lot and get on the highway and alert comes on . That I Google and find out it's called an EPC alert or EPC alarm , which means electric power control and is usually directly connected to the turbo in the car , in the throttle , and they're like sometimes it's just a sensor and it just needs to be replaced or reset or whatever . And I tried to take it immediately to their like preferred mechanics and two different ones told me they could not look at it because it was a Volkswagen , had to go to the dealership so they could use their diagnostic tools and so which is why I assume now looking back on it , it's probably how this did not get caught in Carvana's 150 point inspection or whatever , because they need to get diagnostic . So , anyway , I get with this whole process where basically Carvana is like we'll pay for whatever is wrong with it and you know , just go get it checked out and see what's wrong with it , we'll pay for it . And so go back and forth with a few things to do . This is a few days .
Speaker 2And then today , this morning , I went and took it to Volkswagen for just like the general diagnostic to see what all these sensors were . Because , oh and by the way , I was sitting in a drive through after that or in a parking lot and like five other alerts came on and I looked them up and it was like this particular series of alerts is usually due to . It was really specific . It was like the back right wheel , like wheel sensor , and I was like that's really really specific . And so went there , and they were like you were right , it's the back right wheel sensor , it's also the throttle , the entire turbo mechanism , a bunch of these other things , and it's going to cost $5,000 to fix it , oh my God . And so I was like , yeah , I'll be taking this car back , I'm not gonna , because , if they didn't ?
Speaker 2Because it turned out , basically , this was stuff that the driver , definitely , when he or she traded this in , they knew this was wrong and they just didn't want to deal with it , so they just dumped it , and so and Carvana was , incredibly at least , acted shocked and disappointed in my experience and wanted to correct it , and actually was able to find me another GTI that's really close in price , a little bit better situation overall , better at lower car payments . They gave me a lower APR for it , like the whole deal . The only difference is is it's a manual , and so the funny thing about that , though , is it's like deep down in my soul , I've always wanted a manual GTI , so I was like I'll give it a shot , because the real big damned .
Speaker 2I know who needs me , but I mean it still does solve some of my problems , one of which is a way better gas mileage , and so because I just driving this one around , that's been like misfiring and having all kinds of issues it's still had . I used to only use a quarter of a tank all week and you know I use my . When I had my Jeep I was filling up like twice a week , so it was a lot and so , yeah , it's still better overall , I think . So I'm excited . Hopefully I hear about that tomorrow . But it's just been a pan-ass , some unneeded , undeserved drama in my life of like the worst case scenario it's like your nightmare scenario of like getting a car immediately driving it .
Speaker 2And you know I really I'm looking back on it . I know exactly it was on the on ramp to the highway because I wanted to kick in that turbo and see what did , what happened when I did it .
Speaker 2As soon as I did it , the car is like what the fuck ? So yeah , but yeah , moving on from that , otherwise life is . Life has been pretty calm actually , and pretty chill . I haven't really had any gigs . Life has kind of slowed down a lot , especially since I'm not recording and doing all the things
Discussion on Therapy and Colors
Speaker 2all at once . We haven't been recording episodes . We've been basically done with them . I say basically because we haven't talked about it , but we technically have one more and I have thoughts about it . I've been editing through them this week actually and that's been a really fun process , going back and hearing these conversations and editing back through them and stuff . So yeah , I'm excited about the new season , for sure , more so now than I was before , I think .
Speaker 1But , yeah , I'm excited to .
Speaker 2I mean really , when you think about it , I sound more green than I'm yellow . Maybe I'm more green , maybe I'm like a light green , like a lime green .
Speaker 1Maybe , I don't know , so anyway well , last time we did something like this , we said like a lime green , and then Melissa was always in the chat and she said Shar truth . And I remember thinking I feel like I've had this conversation before yeah and shortly after that I was going back and listening some old episodes , and we did . We had that exact conversation . For a third time because I was like I thought Shar truth was some sort of red and and I had that same , the same response . The second deja vu .
Speaker 2And I think we've had this conversation too , but I think the word Shar truth comes from the liquor . The liquor , that's made from sure , it's Shar truth , but it's like a light , like a yellow , green color . That's what Shar truth is .
Speaker 1You don't think that the liquor was named after the color I ?
Speaker 2Mean . I guess it could have happened that way . But like colors are named so arbitrarily and usually after the fact , so they're usually named after things . Colors aren't they Like ? Why would they have come up with a random word ? Because our truth is comes from like words that has to do with the botanicals , in that , like the core so okay , Well then , maybe I have no idea yeah anyway , who knows ? Like a child's coloring , like .
Speaker 1I'm gonna take this nice bourbon .
Speaker 2Yes , I'm . I don't even know Of what . I was gonna have some absinthe , absinthe green . Okay , what about you ? How about ? What color are you today ?
Speaker 1you know , I was Yellow and red earlier in the week and I think that I'm green today mainly just because I got done playing guitar right before this . Nice hop on to like two minutes before .
Speaker 2Yeah , it wasn't even two minutes before , right ? Yeah , no , well , that's fun . How's that going ?
Speaker 1Oh man , dude . So yeah , you and I have not caught up on this because , no , so much has happened . I Guess this would have been at the beginning of November , like in end of October , beginning November . You know , I'd started going back to therapy a few , like two or three months ago and we really started to get into the , the meat of things sure and my therapist had .
Speaker 1I did not expect this because , like our first like Forage sessions where it was all just context building and so I was just like telling him a bunch of stuff and like not really much came out of it Other than like me sort of processing some things out loud .
Speaker 1Yeah and he uses the internal family systems framework , which I've actually found to be very helpful , but he hadn't really gotten into it much at that point . And then , finally , I was basically like , okay , well , I'm ready to like , we've done enough context building , I'm ready to like actually get into it . He's like okay , well , let's do it . And so he's like using the internal Family systems framework to guide me through some different things , but while he's doing it , he's doing EMDR , which you're aware of . What that is ? It's .
Speaker 2It's familiar , but I don't , can't remember right now .
Speaker 1I like the original version is essentially these lights that you follow with your eyes to make your eyes go back and forth . Yeah and and it Basically helps you process trauma . And yeah through it and it sounds like voodoo , but there's like really good science behind it and nobody knows why it works . They just know that it does and it's been used to help a lot of like Like soldiers with pts , ptsd and stuff like that .
Speaker 2Yeah , I think it's also been like featured in movies and TV shows . I've seen like Therapists and shows do that before .
Exploring Trauma, Anxiety, and Internal Parts
Speaker 1It's really interesting and when I first heard about this I was like you know what ? That actually makes a lot of sense because when I was in college I would and I was like Really dealing with shit . I would go to Walmart at like two or three in the morning and I would just walk the aisles and dart my eyes back and forth . They would help me process stuff and never really put that together . But I'm doing the same thing and the the how EMDR was discovered was , I think , by going the person like going out in the woods and like moving their eyes back and forth , and they realized , hey , this helps me process stuff . I wonder if there's anything to it . And so they put together studies like that's how I decided . I was told that it was . It was discovered .
Speaker 1Yeah and so , anyway , he , there's a , there's like a newer way to do this , which is , instead of having your eyes Dab back and forth , you have these , these like little paddle things that you hold in your hands , and they vibrate , one at a time , alternating left to right , and so I'm basically like holding these , these paddles , and and he's like walking me through , like processing some stuff and holy shit , dude , I . Was not expecting . It was like super intense and I've done a few of these now , and it was .
Speaker 1It was really , really intense and to the point where , like my whole body was shaking coming out of that and like my whole nervous system was shot for a few weeks .
Speaker 1Like I was like letting the trauma move through my body and digging up stuff where basically I I have memories of being physically abused as a kid , but I thought that those were sort of like just a couple of isolated incidents and then , through this process , realizing it was a lot more common and how much I was always afraid and never felt safe , except for when I was in the woods and I would plan like escape routes into the woods and create secret hideouts and things , because I never knew if I would want to have to go into the woods and survive by myself .
Speaker 1And so , just like processing all the shit , but realizing , like so much of the stuff that I have been dealing with over the years , it just goes way deeper than I realized and and is a lot of it is the result of like just unprocessed trauma , like repressed trauma that I had as a kid . Wow , and so all this is coming out so like I spent like an emotional roller coaster , just been very , very raw , like and , like I said , like my whole nervous system has been shot , so like the other part of this too , especially after our , our conversation with Sam , which will come out in this upcoming season around a different styles and that what she said about basically how you have to .
Speaker 1So there's like avoidant attachment , avoidant attached , anxious attached , and then like secure attached , and to get to secure you have to go through anxious and I realize how much anxiety that I have , that I never recognize that anxiety or I repressed the anxiety and yeah and it's like , okay , well , now I'm gonna let myself feel anxiety and it's like a whole fuck , like you know .
Speaker 1So , like my , my whole nervous system is just , you know , on edge . So that was like most of November , of like going through this and just like taking it one day at a time and and in all of that , also just explain the internal family systems is basically the idea behind it is that you are not a singular person .
Speaker 1You have , like all these different parts of you that have sort of almost like disassociated over the years and they're like internal parts of you that you use to like . There's a whole thing where there's like dynamics between the different parts of you and and there are I figured with it with the names of the other things are but basically there's like things that get repressed and then things that are act as managers to like keep those things repressed in order to keep you safe , and so it's basically like you're splitting yourself up into all these different parts and this framework helps you get to know those parts and then , over time , integrate those parts and sort of like you act . You sort of like step up above them and act as a mediator to help bring them together and get along and appreciate each other and work together , and so in doing that , you're sort of integrating yourself and and so like I've just been exploring different parts of myself and one part is like and I always have to name them , which I really don't like doing because it feels weird , but like you know , one part is I think I called him like my inner Peter Pan , or something like that- but he was a rabbit for some reason , and like visually don't know why , but it was like the , the part of me that's always trying to get me to avoid stuff and to go like , go , like you know , go watch YouTube or go go binge Netflix or just anything to kind of keep my mind away , like from dealing with stuff and like never actually always procrastinating , always like focusing on , like what feels good now versus you know what , what I should be doing yeah
Speaker 1and just realizing how , like , why that comes up in that way and expresses that part of me , expresses itself in that way , and it's because there's another part of me that's like a manager , that's like they come , like responsible dad . It's basically like that's the plot from hook , you know , yeah , right , and which I had .
Rediscovering Passion Through Music
Speaker 1And then , while I was going through this , I had another part of me that's like this , the cynical , jaded part that's like you know , basically making fun of me for having this you know , for having this dynamics like oh yeah , you have dad problems , you know like who doesn't like , just all this stuff right
Speaker 1and but the thing that one of the things that came out of that was just like under going back to understanding when that part of me first sort of split off and what , what , what was , what was causing that , and coming back and trying to integrate those parts where I stopped repressing it and so that it can , it can express itself in a healthy way versus a way that is damaging to me . And so it's been a journey of like that's just one of the pieces of all this , but like , as a result of that , I decided to completely change my hair , so I stopped . So I'm not one , I'm letting it grow out , but two , I also just stopped styling it and .
Speaker 1I've just sort of been letting it do its thing yeah actually love it way better . It's way more fun , and and so and it was just .
Speaker 1It was one of those things where it sounds really simple , but even that has helped me kind of connect to that inner part of myself and then , and because that part is my passion , it's my creativity , it's you know , it's my playfulness , and and so I'm finding ways to let that out and and be like , connect to who I really am . And in that , around this time and all this was happening , our mutual friend , cody Ray , invited me to his show . It's the first time I've really gone to like a show where they're like multiple , like a real like show where there are multiple bands and stuff , and I've been you and and and so I went and and it's also the first time I've gone to a show and been high , which also really helped like I just connected to the music and yeah
Speaker 1all the bands were awesome and they were all just the thing that they all had in common where they were all having such a good time on stage and you could see that joy just sort of coming out and the cohesiveness between the people on on the stage and they form that bond . But it's like a mutual sort of joy and love of playing music together . And I I walked away from that like knowing like I have to get back up on stage , I have to start playing music again , and it's just like this is a part of me that I didn't realize how much I missed it . I knew that I missed it to a degree , but I didn't realize like how much it's like an integral part of who I am . And so I walked out of the venue to go home and then I ended up sitting in the parking lot for 20 minutes because I had the song just come to me and so I started writing a song and it's like and by the time I got home I had most of the song done and it was like this is amazing , and it was , you know , because I used to .
Speaker 1I used to write songs back in college because that's part of what I went to school for . And then you know there are all these stories around . Like you know you're not any good at it , so I even try , or it's never gonna mount anything . So like what's the point ? And also like and this I think is a valid criticism of you know , I had no real life experience at that point , but I was trying to write songs about things I'd never experienced .
Speaker 2Sure yeah .
Speaker 1They did not be a pretty lame , but some of them are still fun .
Speaker 1I like to play them .
Speaker 1But this song was something completely different and it came from this just like raw , real part of me and things that I have experienced , and it felt so good to do this activity , to go through this exercise of letting this kind of come through me and and and like I almost felt like I was downloading it from somewhere else and then taking it and sort of shaping it and , oh man .
Speaker 1So anyway , I was like , well , I can think of a hundred different reasons why it doesn't make sense for me to try to do anything with music right now , given everything else that I have going on . But I'm not going to let that stop me , and so I'm just going to start taking steps . And , and so part of that was I bought a guitar , I bought an amp , bought a couple of pedals I like , and I started playing electric guitar , which for me is a big deal , because when I was , when I was playing guitar before , it was always acoustic because it was like I was always a broke college kid , so I never had money for gear and so , but I always wanted to learn .
Speaker 1I always wanted to learn how to play electric and like how to play lead and stuff like that . Yeah , and and for some reason for a long time I've always been drawn to telecasters and I I didn't , but I didn't really know much about the difference between different types of guitars , and so I started looking into it and and the like . I heard different people describe different types of guitars and and then I like really really started like feeling drawn towards and resonating with the telecaster , and it wasn't until I didn't have the words for it , necessarily , until I found this interview with Julian Lange where he talks cause he plays jazz with the telecaster and he was talking about why and he said it's the most honest guitar and and I was like that's why ?
Speaker 2that's why .
Speaker 1I'm drawn to it Because right now I'm trying to , I'm on a path of discovery the most honest Josiah and so I need an instrument that resonates with that , that helps me figure that out as as part of like , as I'm trying to figure out , like , what is my musical style ?
Music and Door Dash
Speaker 1Like , what do I enjoy playing All of that ?
Speaker 1Like it , because the thing about a telecaster you probably know , is like there's really no hiding with it . It like the way , like the way that you play it's very there's there's not much because it's such like a simple guitar , like there's not much to play , like a simple guitar , like there's not much that can sort of like obscure that away and and so like . That's what I ended up buying about this like gorgeous reissue of the 63 telecaster with this red transparent coating on it and it is just , it is a joy to play . I paid for them to do the setup on it , so it's just like it's buttery smooth and I have been loving it Like I , I , I pick . It's a little bit dangerous because I pick it up and it's like two or three hours , goodbye . I'm like , oh fuck , what's it doing ?
Speaker 2Like not not like , like yeah .
Speaker 1But but it's been amazing , so I think that's why I'm green . I have I had a rough week earlier in the week , but overall I'm . You know , I went to . I went to guitar shop today over in East Ridge for the first time Pickers oh , a guitar shop ? Yeah , Just to kind of . I picked up like some cables and stuff , some things that I needed , but even then like that was really fun .
Speaker 1And and so I I talked to them about lessons . So I'm going to start doing guitar lessons because I need someone to help me kind of maximize my effort in like getting back into this .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1But my goal is the next year form some sort of band and just play some gigs for fun .
Speaker 2That's cool . I love that . Yeah , well , maybe we'll play together again , maybe the time will come , I mean , obviously , I mean it feels so good I and well , obviously you're talking , you're like preaching to the choir in the best way with all of this stuff , right , like I understand all of what you just said in a deep and like intimate way because , like you know , I feel the exact same way , also trying to do music and for the first time , maybe seriously in my life , and yeah , it's , it's wild how life-giving it is , it's just insane . And yeah , it's like it's , it's like I've never been more excited about anything , and so I think that it's exciting to see you have something like that , and also it would be the same thing that I , like you know , it's like we are more alike than we thought , you know .
Speaker 1But yeah , that's all . I was a big one doubted that .
Speaker 2Yeah right , sure , well , I'm excited to play . Play that guitar . I want to see it in real life .
Speaker 1Yeah , I'll bring it over sometime .
Speaker 2Yeah , I definitely had that exact same experience when I got my guitar recently and which is not nearly as nice as yours , but it gets the job done , it did . It did find its way onto this EP for a couple of parts , which is fun . It's a Gretch semi-hollow buddy , oh yeah . So it's nice . It's honest . In a different kind of way it's got that warmth and soul that I needed in a guitar for his style of playing that I wanted to do . But yeah , I mean and it's funny because there's just one part that I did on a song where I did it , I did .
Speaker 2It was a few parts that I did with that guitar and then I was like just not sounding like the right clarity that I need for this thing that I want to do . I just can't figure out what it is . And then I picked up Daniel , my producer's $5,000 semi-hollow buddy , and I was like , oh , that was what it was and so , yeah , but it was so fun and to get an amp again and to go through this whole process of putting a pedal board together . It was taking me back to my teenage years in such a way that felt like full circle in a healing way , which I really loved and to know what I'm talking about . This time around , you know , like , know what I want and be confident in what I was wanting , and getting to explore that in a different kind of way Like that was really fun for sure , and yeah .
Speaker 2In the same way as you , I can't wait to like play with other people again and be in that environment . But yeah , I gotta jump through a lot of other groups first . We gotta do all these other things that we also love , right .
Speaker 1Like this podcast .
Speaker 2Yeah , getting close , though I think actually the podcast , the new season , will come out around the same time as my first , my next single , so there'll be a lot going on all at once hit come after first of the year . So , but in a good way , I'm just excited that this will be the first season that I'll have the entire thing produced before we release it , so I actually get a break before we start on the next thing .
Speaker 1Yeah , yeah , I've . Yeah , I'll be for everyone listening to this .
Speaker 2I'll be posting in the community over the next week or so asking for submissions for this season , so yeah , somehow you're gonna space it out enough to where people can actually respond , but we need every episode and we have more episodes than we in this season I think we've had in the last two seasons Maybe .
Speaker 1Yeah , probably , I think so .
Speaker 2Yeah , so it's fun , it's exciting . Yeah , well , I'm glad that we're both in good places . You know we're both green . Um , I have nothing else to talk about , unless you got something else to talk about .
Speaker 1I don't either . Yeah , I think we could probably call it . I've got some Uber Eats that just came , so nice .
Speaker 2Man , I don't know if I ever told you outside . Let me talk about this for a second Um , so I lost my shit on Door Dash not that long ago , like absolutely . I mean like in an embarrassing way , lost my shit on them Like cause it was they've been . They're so bad , like they're the worst service to pay for that I have ever paid for in my entire life and I'm just mad at myself for paying for it . You know what I mean ? Because they don't , they don't , they don't . Um , what's the word ? Vet their drivers and , I swear to God , their drivers .
Speaker 2I apologize to anybody who's watching that might be a Door Dash driver . This maybe , hopefully , doesn't apply to you , but I swear they've come from like the furthest recesses of like the ass crack of the world and I just don't even know where the hell . And , and they're the dumbest , I like they don't follow instructions . They try to . I try to talk to them with very clear words and it's like they don't speak English . And they do speak English , and it's like I don't even , and so , and then it always comes cold , crushed and sometimes lots of times smelling like ashtray and and also , and a lot of times , children are bringing it to the door .
Speaker 2It's not even the person , it's like their child that's writing . It's like always the sketchiest shit ever . And I mean , and you just look at them and it's like they haven't had a shower in three weeks and it's like I don't even know I didn't . I don't know if I wanted my food in your car , like I just don't know where you came from . Are you a hoarder ? Like I don't know . And so yeah , just the craziest looking people that just obviously don't interact with the , with a lot of people very often , I think , and like I've tried to talk to them and it's just like it's just like pulling teeth and it just makes me so mad and so frustrated . And then the other half of the time my food never even shows up ever .
Speaker 1It just doesn't work .
Speaker 2That's why I don't do Door Dash and so one time they strung me along for over an hour and a half saying that they were still at the store and I just waited and waited and then by the time it finally said they were picking it up and then they went offline .
Speaker 2Immediately after that I it was too late to get anything else . And then I was up late and I was just fucking hungry . So then I was hangry , tried to call Door Dash . They didn't answer . So then I messaged them on their thing and tried to get a refund and then to make things so much worse this was the first time it has ever happened they would not give me a refund of my credits and say that they weren't . They weren't going to do it this time . And so I lost my shit and was like basically vowing with my vowing to the old gods in the new , that I would tell every person in the world that I ever met never to use Door Dash , and basically like fuck Door Dash . And like I was went off on them . It was like you you guys are like the most incompetent assholes ever and like I hate every single person .
Speaker 1They like I went off . I went off . There's a whole paragraph .
Speaker 2And then I switched Uber Eats and I realized something very interesting , which is that most of the people who are driving for Uber Eats are also probably Uber drivers , and so they're obviously vetted . They have had background checks . They also have to interact with people on a regular basis , so they're usually way more presentable and way more communicative in a really clear way , and also know how to navigate , which is a very important part of the job that obviously Door Dash didn't get , and so they I have not had any problems . My food usually shows up 15 to 20 minutes early . It's hot , it's presentable , and everybody's been a fucking delight to communicate with .
Speaker 1Yeah , I've had . I've had some . I've had a couple of like bad experiences with Uber Eats but ?
Speaker 2but there's always a bad egg , you know , no matter what you do .
Speaker 1But like almost every experience with Door Dash has been terrible .
Speaker 2Yeah , man , I can't wait to see this part of the conversation show up in the AI description that we use for this .
Speaker 1We should start testing topics , just to see that .
Speaker 2I just see what it says . Yeah , all right . Well , until next time , look free by watching . You got new episodes to look forward to and they're going to be amazing and I'm very excited about them . I look forward to that and I have no idea where we're going to be one of these again . Oh yeah .
Speaker 1We've got to schedule the rest of the after hours for next year , so yeah , we're not talking about holidays .
Speaker 2I guess it'll be the last one for 2023 .
Speaker 1Yeah , last one for this year .
Speaker 2Man exciting . Yeah , we're already at the end of the year .
Speaker 1Last year we did an Enneagram five Christmas party , but I think it's a little late to plan that . Yeah , probably so . Probably so we could do a season four launch party .
Speaker 2Definitely should do that for sure .
Speaker 1That's what we're planning on , then .
Speaker 2Cool , all right , well , see you . See everybody next time . See you .
Speaker 1This was easy , thanks , thank you .
