SPEAKER_01So here we are. It's we're well in 2026. We keep getting class requests. So we're up into the 60s now. So keep them coming, folks. This is great. And uh yeah, I would stop thinking about early in the year. Um it's looking pretty full. So um, but yeah, keep those class requests coming, and we love to see it. Um our newer and our new instructors are getting trained up and they'll be uh out on their on their own here before too much longer, so that'll help take some of the load off. Um either of you have any um have any announcements or anything we need to go over before we get started? I know Tommy, you've got thing about staff.
Staffing Updates For Major Matches
SPEAKER_00Yeah, staff applications for Steel Challenge, the WSSC factory gun and race gun are all closed now. We're fully staffed. Uh so those applications are no longer available on the web page. And if you're on staff and you're listening to this and you haven't done your additional information form, please do that. If you have done it, don't email me telling me that the link doesn't work because you're getting a message that says you've already done it. And don't email me and tell me you did it. I don't really care. I'm just looking for the people that haven't done it yet. So and it's easier for me to send it to the whole group than it is to pick and choose email addresses off of my list, right? But uh when it comes down to the two or three people that are always the holdouts, I will do it that way. But it's a two-part application process. Once you get accepted, you get a secondary email with a link in it, and that link takes you right to the to the phone. So please do that. Uh I've gotten a few emails saying, hey, I can't apply for nationals. Well, that's true, because the applications are closed. Um, if something happens that we need more people, we'll probably open them back up or we'll make it announced before we do that. But right now we're staffed, we're fully staffed and a little bit overstaffed, probably, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

LMS Video Refresh And Seminar Format
SPEAKER_02Uh Jody, anything from you?
SPEAKER_03Um just working on seminar updates. We have some uh fun new tools we're playing with for the uh LMS videos. Are gonna get a refresh. We're starting to look a little dated since it was what 2019? Yeah, 2019 when we we did start those. Um so it's it'll be the same content, but in a you know, different voice, different uh refresh refreshed and updated slides. So looking forward to that. And uh yeah, I um when I took the taught the class this weekend, um one of the students actually uh told me that uh until he took the class, he was one of the people who thought everything should be online. But after taking the class, he was like, huh, yeah, there's no way this could be taught online. So I thought that was awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that that came up in my class. Somebody brought it up in my class this weekend, and they they pretty much the agreement was yeah, there's just no way. And um, so yeah, I was disappointed they uh wasn't able to use the widescreen version this weekend because uh their projector was you know four by three only. So oh well and well actually more the screen on the wall was four by three. Oh um, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I wasn't planning on updating the old square version.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, um yeah, there are still places out there. I guess you know you could it could you could probably force it to letterbox it now that I think about it. But oh well, yeah, I think luckily they had both versions loaded and ready to go, so it's no big deal. Um so anyway, since we're talking about classes, um, we've gotten a couple of questions lately.
Finding RO And CRO Classes Near You
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I even had a question at my class this weekend in Fairbanks um about how to find CRO classes. Um so we thought we would talk about the how to use the tool uh on the website for finding a class near you or finding a specific type of class.
SPEAKER_02So who wants to run with that one?
SPEAKER_00Um we're gonna we're gonna try to get uh that built into the web page where instead of looking at that list of classes under Find NRI seminars, there'll be a something you can click that says find seminars near me. And as long as you logged in, the system knows where you are, right?
SPEAKER_02So that would be the the most optimal thing, it would make it a little bit easier. Uh to get to find a class.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, I'm halfway working. To find a class that's closer to you because it would be more specific, right? Because they're not always listed like class in St. Louis, Missouri, or class in Billings, Montana. It'll be um, you know, Billy Bob Shooting Club class. And you, you know, where the heck is that, right? So it should be easier if they list them by you, right? Within, and they could, I don't know, within a hundred mile, two hundred, three hundred, four hundred mile radius or something, something that would make a not impossible drive for people, I guess. Um, we'd have to kind of scope that out. But I think that was, and that's actually Jody's idea. Uh, it wasn't mine, but I mean it is a good idea to do it that way, I think. So we're gonna put that on Rick's to-do list, and uh hopefully we get that popped up. And Jody, talk a little bit about what you suggested that they do with it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, how to implement it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um well, so we have the Find Matches Near Me map already, which kind of you know zooms in near you, but then you can zoom out and see matches that are are uh or clubs. Or find clubs near me, I think. Um so it'd be great if we just had a little toggle to switch between clubs or matches or whatever it is and classes because um I think a lot of us are visual and that list is kind of you know sorted by uh date. It's multiple pages. I think it'd just make it more easy to find your classes if you can uh I guess it's the find a club match. You can click on uh a state and it brings up a screen where you can put in uh address and zip code and zoom in and zoom out and find all the clubs. So if we could just do that for the RO R O CRO seminars and S C R O seminars, it would be great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And you can search by class type. If you just do RO, you get quite the lengthy list, but um you can do CRO or SCSA and it does filter that way, but uh, which is what we were looking for this weekend. We're looking for CRO classes for some some folks. So um yeah. But yeah, hopefully we'll get it to where it's working a little bit a little bit easier, um, maybe a bit more utility for folks. Because I think some of the questions we constantly get about why aren't any classes near me are probably because there's a heart, it's hard to tell um where your classes where the classes are. Um and so yeah, that hopefully that'll that'll help. Um, let's see. We work, I know you're working Jody, you're working on uh the updated rule books. Um so probably the next podcast episode we record in two weeks, we will dive into the rules changes and discuss those. Um, but I noticed they aren't posted on the website. Do we know when they're gonna go up for people to start looking at?
SPEAKER_03Uh well, they don't go into effect until March 1st.
SPEAKER_01So we're not even putting the change logs up early.
SPEAKER_03I there's there's change logs with the board meeting minutes. Oh, that's true. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03I haven't given Rick uh the uh files yet because I was hoping people would look through. I've found a couple smite minor things I had to fix in the comp rules. Um but I've
Rulebook Updates And Release Timing
SPEAKER_03been kind of like waiting because I know as soon as I give Rick Rick the files, people are gonna start finding typos or something I missed.
SPEAKER_01So well, we're waiting for you to give Rick the files.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I see how that's going. I'll give them to him before the end of the week because I know he wants a little lead time so he can try to see if PK at Amazon have them available on the first. Yeah. But no, there is a ch there is a list of changes. Um I'll see maybe if he can put the at least put the change log. Um my worry is if we put them too early, people are gonna start utilizing them instead of waiting until the first. Yeah. I mean, there's not a lot of major changes, but there's some stage design changes and stuff that you know people might start using early.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We talked a little bit about some of the stage design changes, the fall line thing and everything at this class I did this weekend. Um there were only 12 people in there, but there was 14 people against it. So you know how that goes. Yeah. That little double boat.
SPEAKER_03I I brought up uh some of the stuff, you know, just so they were aware of them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, aware of it. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, my friend Mike Pipes came over and audited the class, and then this was uh uh Jack Lancaster production. So uh we had a bunch of guys that you know all work and shoot together right there. And but actually we had a couple guys come in from North Carolina, which is quite a drive to go to that, but um yeah, so we had you know the informal vote was not in favor of controlling that as much as you possibly could. It's still optional, but I mean it's uh it's probably not gonna be super popular.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But we didn't have anything to do with that. Don't blame me on a lie. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yep, that's for sure. Um, and uh I know we get noticed we got a couple questions about the Ipsy Cendorsman class, and folks, we promised that in the first quarter of 2026, not the first month of 2026. Um and I believe Jody's the one that's building that. She's kind of busy with rule book stuff right now.
SPEAKER_03So no, no, no. That's that's Troy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, is Troy doing that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, well, okay. I'm doing the Chrono endorsement, which is quarter two. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_03But now that I have a new uh um person to voice my uh videos, uh it's making video making a little more fun.
SPEAKER_01Well you had to do a different you had to do a different voice for Chrono.
SPEAKER_03Well, I I think there I might every every class might have a different voice.

SPEAKER_00So yeah, yeah, hipsick endorsements coming. Um, I'm also working on the master record thing and uh a new kind of addition of form T for getting uh feedback
Stage Design Changes And Member Feedback
SPEAKER_00from matches. So it's sort of a guided after action report kind of thing. Um so I had a whole plan for it, and the way the job form works, I I can't make it work the way that I want it to, so I'm gonna split it into a report for the RO for the RM and M D or RMs and MD, and then a report for the CROs and ROs. And then they can there's gonna be another thing for uh competitors, right? So just to try to get some feedback and some information. Um too many, too many complaints from members of the board and others that are like you have bad ROs out there, right? So without some actual reporting system that can list something specific, you can't really believe that you know, when people complain about a particular range officer, because if you get a footfall that you didn't think you deserved, well, that RO is automatically a bad RO, right? And that's not the case. I mean, he made a call based on what he saw, you didn't agree with it, okay. There's avenues of appeal for that. And if if that doesn't work out, well then you got a footfall, or you got a DQ, or you got whatever, right? It doesn't make that range officer a bad range officer, but that's the kind of report that we would get. So we want something more specific and a little bit more uh not necessarily investigatable, but a little bit more uh useful. Uh useful, yeah, to identify you know actual problems. I'm not saying that we don't have range officers out there that you know look forward to dinging shooters because I'm sure there are a few. I don't think there's a lot, but I'm sure there's a few.
SPEAKER_01We've found them in the past, so that's evidence that there probably still are some.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So that's what we want to try to weed out. So, you know, we're gonna be soliciting some cooperation on these forms and stuff. But uh, you know, I think it'll be a useful tool. It'll give us something to analyze analyze some data with and see what we got. You know, anyway, we got a lot of fire arms in the fire, folks. So that's kind of what we're telling you. Uh we might have overloaded ourselves a bit.
SPEAKER_03And we like that you guys are excited about this stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We really do. It just takes time to make it.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I'm I'm working on the updates, the few updates that there are for the Steel Challenge and the multi-gun endorsements, so those will be updated. And just to warn everybody, typically for those endorsements, we take those offline right about the time the new rule books come out until we can get the updates pushed. I'm trying to have the updates done so that they're ready to go. So if their offline period's only a day or so, but anyway,
Endorsements Timeline And New Forms
SPEAKER_01we'll see where we get. Okay. Um let's see. Off into the mailbag. Um, first question is I see suppressors are disallowed in PCC division as per appendix D4 D8 number 14, but I don't see a rule in limited optics or open. Is it permissible to shoot a suppressed handgun in these divisions given it meets all of the criteria for said division?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01Nope.
SPEAKER_00No. This this question ties in with a with some others that we're getting because manufacturers are starting to put compensators built into the slide, compensators this way, ported barrels, all this stuff, and just putting them out there. And and people are saying, well, you know, this it fits limited optics. Well, no, not with that component, not with that ported barrel on it, it doesn't. And you know, I think I think there's a couple of manufacturers that have been kind of like, yeah, this is legal, and it's not. I mean, it may be legal in IEPA or something. I don't know. I don't understand their rules, but uh suppressed uh gun is not legal in anything but open because we treat it as a compensator because it's exactly what it does, it diverts gases. Um the same thing with the the comp slides, right? Um, I don't care what you call it. IPSC is going through the same thing in their rules process right now, talking about that. And I I sent them a response to a question, and I said, Look, you know, it just because they call it a gas diversion device or whatever the heck they call it, sort of marketing term, I said, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck, right? So this is a compensator. Make no mistake about it. And it's just not legal. The only place in USPSA you can shoot a gun with any kind of gas diversion device on it, compensator, porter barrel, whatever, is open. Okay. So this was getting to the just freaking stop it category for people asking about this kind of thing.
SPEAKER_01Well, on handguns anyway, because PCCs can have cars, but well, yeah, handguns.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, yeah, PCCs, this whole different thing. But these people are asking about limited optics, you know. Right. Exactly. It would be so cool if I could shoot this gun in limited optics. Yeah, it would.
SPEAKER_02And everybody'd be mad at you. But you can't. So yeah. Let's just not go there anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yep. All right, next question. What division do I shoot a 22 long rifle revolver in SCSA? What are the options?
SPEAKER_00RRI, which is revolver, uh, ring fire revolver irons, or RRO, which is ring fire revolver optics. Both of those are available on Practice Score, but you have to have an updated version of Practice Score. If you're using an older version, it's not in there. And there's some other information that Zach Jones, the director of Steel Challenge, has put out, uh telling you how to get to that in your, you know, when you're entering people. So, a couple questions this week about it, you know. And they said, Where did I shoot? And I said, these, and they said, Well, it's not on practice school. And I said, Yeah, it is somewhere, because we're getting uploads for it. So it's got to be on practice school somewhere. But his guy that was signing people into the match wasn't up to date on his practice school version or something. So anyway, they got that straight. But it is available, so it's Rimfire Revolver
Steel Challenge And Endorsement Maintenance
SPEAKER_00Optics or Rimfire Revolver Arms.
SPEAKER_03Right. And those are our new new provisional divisions.
SPEAKER_00Provisional divisions, correct.
SPEAKER_01And another practice score note. Um last week, um, practice score Eugene or whoever released an update that blew up all the Bluetooth timers. And they he really he released, they, he, whatever, released an update to the update on Saturday that restored that. So if you're out of road with your Bluetooth timers, you need you're an update behind. So we discovered that and we were trying to get set up for the score in the class, and it's like, well, damn it. So um, but they found the the fix, the patch, and got it loaded.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Let's talk about that a little bit. Uh Bluetooth and timers. Um when that first started, I was a little bit leery of it for people not calling us times back and everything. And and you know, there wasn't a lot of obvious pluses. For it, other than just not typo in a wrong time. Um, but it's proven to be very useful. Not only is it useful for competitors because they can see their splits on their results and see all kinds of other stuff, but it's proven to be useful if you got messed up times. Um at case in point this weekend, one of my CRO prospective students was not protecting his timer, right? He kept holding it right there by the gun as they cleared it, and he picked up um teen number of slides going forward, et cetera, et cetera. Which, if you can go back and review that on even on the tablet, right, uh, then you could tell where that time was. So
Mailbag: Suppressors, Comps, And Divisions
SPEAKER_00it's it is a useful tool for both range officers and competitors. So uh I would encourage you to do it, but I I would not encourage you to not call those times out verbally in addition to Bluetooth in it to the timeline so that the competitor gets to hear it twice, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, and I'm still teaching you know, act like Bluetooth isn't working because you don't know if it sometimes it just doesn't. And um, it's what a lot of people expect. You know, when I'm shooting, I want to hear that because I don't want to see it later, I want to hear it. And especially in Steel Challenge. Yeah. Um, I I want to hear string times. And I know some people don't, and that's fine. You can ask to not have you know the string times not to be called out, but I want to hear them. And so, you know, it's it's it's vital every time you go over a piece of data and repeat it. If there's a mistake, that's a chance to correct it. It's no different than when you're calling out target scores and you call out two alpha, one Charlie, one delta, and this scorekeeper person just puts in three alphas and one delta. Um, if they don't call it back, you don't catch that. And um, see, it's the same thing with the time. It's real easy to flip digits. A lot of people are dyslexic or slightly dyslexic and they don't know it. Um, it's pretty easy to typo it. So, you know, it's way better. Just let's verify that what came across is what was really there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I always tell them, even if you sink the time, still time RO still reads it out, scorekeeper still reads it back. Yeah, right. Just to make sure we both have the same time and um well make gives the shooter an opportunity to hear it. And you know, just because we have technology now doesn't mean we should uh not still verbalize things.
SPEAKER_01Well, and it's not, especially if you've just swapped out uh tablets or timers, it's not unheard of for your pad to be synced with some timer that's not the one that is being being used. And you start picking up times from you know the timer next door.
SPEAKER_03And we had
New Rimfire Revolver Divisions In SCSA
SPEAKER_03that at Nationals one time. They were picking up uh times from the uh standard exercise across the way.
SPEAKER_01Which probably be pretty cool if it was a long field course. Four seconds, wow. So yeah. All right. Next one.
SPEAKER_00Well, before we get off of that, let's talk about another thing that I want to try to start doing with seminars and stuff, especially level ones. But I got the guys this week to do it. Uh, and that's to review that tablet with the competitor, right? So in the old days with paper score sheets, we used to always do that. We used to say your time was 1262, you had 16 A's and three Charlie, no no shoots. Here's your, you know, uh sign right here. Now, what most of the competitors do now is look at a hit factor and don't really look at the at the hits or anything. Yeah. And then occasionally you get a you'll get a an anomaly where there's an additional no-shoot that was put in there that you know was by accident because it's easy to do, right? And practice score doesn't call it out. It's just however many no shoots you want to put in, you can put in. So I had them do that, and they actually I think they act actually like doing it, and the people that they were doing
Bluetooth Timers: Usefulness And Best Practice
SPEAKER_00it for liked it too, right? So it's probably gonna be another step in our teaching exercise that we get people to review that tablet. It really doesn't take more than about five seconds to do. Um, but you know, once you hunt the guy down because he already walked off the stage or whatever, and then tell him, you know, here's your hits, here's your time, there's your hit factor. Um, I think it I think it'll cut down on even some of the anomalous score protests we get for no shoots or whatever, you know. Especially if you reiterate that time to them, because heck, who knows what got pulled in besides what they called, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. So yeah, and I I've had this thing fail and ended up having to manually put it in. And you know, it's it it does happen. It's so it's technology, it fails by design. Yeah, yeah. Trust but verify. Yeah, exactly. All right, moving on. Uh kind of a lengthy one, but we'll go for it anyway. I designed stages for our monthly matches. My interpretation of rule 214 has been called into question of late. Who is right? The latter part of the rule states 214 target locations, uh, which continues to targets, must be arranged so that shooting them on an as and when visible basis will not cause competitors to breach safe angles of fire. I have taken the safe angles of fire to mean that targets should not be placed in in such a way as to allow the shooter to view the face of the target from any downrange shooting um area location. This results in a lot of extra walls and barrels to set up and take down and a lot of grumbling. Is my interpretation a best practice or an actual requirement by rule?
SPEAKER_02Yes. It's a requirement by rule.
SPEAKER_01Yep. And it's a best practice because it's a requirement by rule.
SPEAKER_03I have seen rank people take this way too literal. Like you shouldn't be able to see the back of a target, which is the no-shoot if you do a complete 180 and turn facing up range.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03In that case, no, it's got to be the tar face of the target they're supposed to engage. I mean, if someone wants to turn around and engage no-shoot targets, well they have they have other problems. But yeah, if there's a target, like I mean, once you're completely past it, you shouldn't you're not gonna see the face of it because you're gonna see the backside of the target, right? Um, but at the same time, you know, there's some people who take it so literal that if a competitor turns around and sees it, we gotta block the view. It's like, no, you need to block the view when it's an engageable target that can be engaged. So it's not engaged past the 180.
SPEAKER_00Right. And for the the crowd that says, well, it's only on the competitor to not break the 180. That's not, we don't want to deliberately tempt them into doing that, right? So this is removing that temptation, uh, removing that ability to actually see a target past the 180 that you would typically shoot at. So just take a little time and do it right. I mean, there's very few stage designs that are really uh hard about this, right? I mean, straight down range with targets on either side, yeah, you're gonna find that problem. But in a lot of cases, you you just don't see it, right? And like Jody said, if you're past the target and you and you turn back and you're seeing the back of it, you're seeing a no-shoot essentially, well then you shouldn't be concerned with shooting that target, right? So that's not something you gotta, you know, break the bank putting in walls with barrels to hide, but you certainly have to hide them if they can shoot it past the 180.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah.
Verify Scores On The Tablet With Shooters
SPEAKER_01And if you do, there's real live noisehoots standing down at those. So just no.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I really don't understand how anybody would argue this role. You know, say, oh, we're not gonna do that. It doesn't matter, yada yada. I mean, if you're the guy that's standing up range when when you didn't hide that target and somebody turns around to shoot at it, would you be happy with that? I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So all right.
SPEAKER_01Um, next question. Um, and this kind of gets into the uh disabled shooter territory. I have a competitor that has had surgery to his weak hand arm and will be in a sling for a couple months. He wants to compete in an upcoming match, shooting strong hand only, and is already asked what his options are. He's going to shoot open division um and use 170 millimeter mags, but is asking if it's possible to hold a spare mag that he plans to use for reloads if needed. This would mean starting with the mag in hand after he has made ready. I have read 524 or 529. In other 529, will the RM's judgment for dispensation supersede all of the rules regarding when and how spare magazines can carried in the hand? In your opinion, should a special penalty of any kind be given to the competitor 10210? It seems to me that the RM could allow this if there is no safety concerns and the penalty may not be warranted since it did disadvantage of all strong hand only more than mix up for it. Well, when I was shooting Steel Challenge with my right arm in a sling, my spare magazines were kept in the sling.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01So there you go.
SPEAKER_00Um I discussed this with this guy via email quite a bit about what he can do, what he can't do. What I want to know is if he can use that arm in the sling, I mean, how much mobility does he have with it? So I suggested he just wears magazines a little bit higher up on his body, which is allowable in the rulebook, but he can't start with it in his hand. Right.

SPEAKER_00Yeah, no special penalties, no nothing. It's just not allowed. It's like people that uh instill channels where they say, well, you know, he doesn't have a holster. Can he just start with a center fry handgun at Little Ready? And the answer is no, no, and no.

SPEAKER_01So you know, most clubs have a collection of the old Uncle Mike's one size fits most holsters that can take care of a lot of that. So and uh a lot of clubs even have somebody that shoots there that has a sideline holster business, and they'll whip you one out and a piece of kayaks in a hurry. So um there you go. Um and maybe not on site, but within a day or two. All right. Um in Steel Challenge Appendix D8 uh 3, it states that PCCs that are lever action are permitted as long as they are not front loaded. Would this apply to room fire rifles as well? Specifically, would a box magazine fed lever action 22 be permitted in room fire rifle optics or room power fire rifle irons?
SPEAKER_00Yes, and I want one. I've never seen one like that.
SPEAKER_01I, you know, I I have long said that if Ruger made a lever action 1022, I would be standing in line for that in a heartbeat.
SPEAKER_00Right. So he didn't mention um what particular rifle that was, and I didn't go Google it or anything, but uh that's to me that's pretty cool because I like lever guns. Um, but yeah, so gate loaded or box magazine fed would be would be principled permissible.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah, we just don't want you doing well, and even like the Remingtons that do the tube fed from the stock, because you're not getting your hand near the muzzle, right? Those would probably be okay. They're slow as hell to reload. Um I have one. I've got 100 plus thousand rounds through it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's yeah, it's just not a practical application to it. I mean, if you can put five rounds in it and or six rounds, and you got one in case you need to uh shoot an extra, right? That's good. There's a guy that shoots one in 38 Special that's a gate loaded gun, and he does quite well with it. And PCC. Um, but you know, gate load or whatever in the in the heat of the moment would be we don't want you getting your hand out in front for a tube loaded gun, but stock loaded would be okay. But like you said, that's very cumbersome to load quickly.

SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. Well, there's ample opportunity for sweeping yourself when you're doing that. So probably not the wisest thing to do.

SPEAKER_01Well, the person that the person asking, yeah, that was had expired. So you know I assumed that they would be making it, but yeah, yeah. Um, so yeah, and uh thanks fellow my students at Fairbanks um for your warm hospitality, not your warm weather, because the wind chill on Sunday morning was minus 24. Um it was a little chilly. Um, but we were inside, so it didn't it didn't really matter except that one of the boilers was on the frit, so the range was a little on the chilly side, but that just kept people moving. So yeah. It was uh it was a great class, really had a lot of fun up there and uh really appreciated it. So and uh yeah. That's all I had. We didn't it's we're kind of in the doldrums yet. The match season hasn't really kicked off because the east coast had weather, had winter. Um they had winter all the way down in this is the southern tier, so um there's just hasn't been a lot of there were a lot of matches, so but that's probably enough to keep people out of trouble for a little while.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, we've got a lot going on and stuff kicking up. Uh, you know, Nashals planning is in the works, staffing, uh a bunch of RO seminars to do, uh level one, you know, matches doing it where they can. Um, I'm still getting somewhere between three and maybe six uh matches to to put on the foreign C to put on the calendar uh every week. So there was already a lot of them on there that was scheduled, you know, put in there from last year. So uh it's gonna be a ton of matches, just like always, and people probably have to pick and choose where they want to go. Uh there's a shotgun world shoot this year, so we've got qualifier matches for that. Uh there's right now on the books there are six rifle qualifier matches for IPSC uh rifle whirl shoot coming up. And so that's kind of an interesting addition. It was slow to get going, uh, but I think the people have finally embraced the concept that they're gonna have a rifle qualifier match so that people can actually demonstrate what they could do with a rifle and qualify to go to that rifle-only world shoot. So, you know, things are happening. Um board meeting coming up on the 23rd of this month, and then there's a board planning meeting, which is not they can't vote, they can't do anything but strategically plan uh the end of February, and that's gonna be in Orlando. So I'll be there, Jake will be there, uh all of the uh employees of USPSA will be there as well as the board members. So uh that's a couple of days of sitting around in a room and talking about stuff. So anyway, quite a bit of stuff going on here, and and you know, the schedule kind of demands it before the warm weather gets here and we start shooting matches because then everybody else is otherwise engaged. But USPSA continues to grow. We we're adding more members, more clubs, so that's a good thing, and uh exceeding expectations and budget stuff as far as what we heard in the last board report. So that's all good. We're exceeding our uh uh normal numbers for certified ROs and people keeping that, so that's a good thing too. And uh like I said, we added two two new instructors, so they'll get trained up. And hopefully, you know, if we do break a hundred classes this year, we have some more help getting them done. So
Lever Guns In SCSA And Safety Considerations
SPEAKER_00don't let that, you know, don't let the number of classes we're talking about hold you back from requesting, or we'll try to do something to help you out. So just gotta be patient if we can't get your dates. Oh, and when you do that, if you put the first date as say June 25th, and the second date is June 25th, that's not good. That's supposed to be a second weekend, some some other time that you could, you know, conceivably hold that seminar. So it's not really helpful to do that because if nobody can make your preferred date, then nobody can make your seminar at all. But if you put an alternate date that's not the same or the not the next day, uh then you know, chances are good we could probably find somebody to fill it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, those ones with single dates, um, especially in this first little bit of the year, the chances of those getting an instructor are pretty limited. Yeah. Four or five of us teaching this week this last weekend.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then you look at some of the upcoming weekends, and it's like that's a lot of classes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right. And half our people will be out in the out in the uh country most every most any given weekend. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I just saw a video on I guess Facebook's on USPSA's Facebook thing, and I can see one of my longtime friends and RO's actually doing his job in that video. So nice.
SPEAKER_02Is he doing it right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got the sound turned off because it's just supposed to pop out, but yeah, it seems like he is.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, that's always a good thing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, it's yeah, I had a bunch of folks in this class were actually coming back and renewing getting back um to the sport and regaining their RO credential. And um so that's you know, that's uh because a couple of people walked in and I'm like, you look real familiar. Yeah, yeah, because you're our instructor down in Anchorage a few years ago. Oh okay. That's why you look familiar.
