Dollar Bin Bandits

Steven T. Seagle

Dollar Bin Bandits Season 5 Episode 79

Today, we welcome veteran comic writer and animation producer Steve Seagle to explore his remarkable career. He started at Renegade Press with early creator-owned series like Kafka, The Amazon, and Solstice before temporarily leaving comics and then returning to work on major Marvel titles like Uncanny X-Men and Alpha Flight during a pivotal era in the company's history. Steve discusses his acclaimed run on Sandman Mystery Theatre, which earned him three Eisner nominations, his deeply personal graphic novel It's a Bird..., which offered a meta-narrative about the struggle of writing Superman, and how he balances commercial appeal with intimate storytelling across his diverse career. We also dive into his role as co-founder of Man of Action Entertainment and work on shows like Big Hero 6, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Avengers Assemble, exploring how his comic book background influenced his approach to animation storytelling.
