As continuationists who believe in the biblical continued use of spiritual gifts, we're asking the hard questions from inside the house: What went wrong? How did movements that claimed to champion the Holy Spirit end up producing so much spiritual abuse, financial scandal, and theological compromise? We'll explore the theological foundations that cracked under pressure, the celebrity culture that replaced accountability, and the prophetic voices that missed the mark.
But this isn't just an autopsy, rather it's a blueprint for renewal. We're laying out what a reformed charismatic movement could look like: one anchored in biblical theology, marked by genuine accountability, and free from the hype-driven circus that's dominated the landscape. How do we reclaim the authentic work of the Holy Spirit while rejecting the excesses? What safeguards need to be in place to prevent future scandals? And how can local churches cultivate Spirit-filled ministry without falling into the same traps?
We'll discuss practical steps forward—from restoring biblical eldership and testing prophetic words against Scripture, to dismantling the celebrity pastor industrial complex and prioritizing character over charisma. This is about building a culture that's sustainable, scriptural, and spiritually healthy for the next generation.
