And welcome and welcome back, everybody, to the Matinee Review, where two friends talk everything entertainment, such as movies, animated features, television shows, video games, cartoons, and comic books. I am Justin.
SPEAKER_03I am Akeeley.
SPEAKER_01Hey, we're back. We're here.
SPEAKER_03We we made it. We made it. You know, it's sometimes we're just gonna have to like record some outtakes or record like the little like, hey, you know, with before the the master of editing, where it's like, you guys are sit down and you guys get ready. It's like, no, there's a lot of crazy shit that happens right before we do this. So one of us is real calm, the other one's just kind of panicked and freaked out, and you wouldn't know. You wouldn't know it at all by the stars.
SPEAKER_01No, because that's that's not how we do things. No, it's like like right now I'm sweating bullets, but you know, I sound absolutely calm. So everything's great.
SPEAKER_03I'm not sweating bullets, but just from the last like 15 minutes or so, I'm a little wired, but I'm okay. I'm good here.
SPEAKER_01Who needs coffee? Right. Just go through what you know we go through.
SPEAKER_03Other than that, how are you, sir?
SPEAKER_01I'm okay.
SPEAKER_03That's what's up.
SPEAKER_01I had a tooth ripped out of my face, so that was cool. Like a wisdom tooth. Did you lose a bet? Like, were you trying to show off? No, no, no, no. This was a a wisdom tooth that came in sideways, crooked. It was impacting the back molar, and during the pandemic it uh cracked in half, and I went, okay, well, I probably shouldn't go to a dentist during a pandemic that happens to be uh uh airborne. So I waited and the other day uh almost fell to the floor with pain, and then the very next morning just called somebody and said, I'm coming in. And I went right over and 15 minutes of being there, they ripped the thing out of my face and gave me a prescription and sent me on my way. And it was really, really well done. There you go. I mean, I just I've been to dentists and and they've pulled out the two wisdom teeth I had on the side, they got rid of those, and and that guy was a dickhead. And I just didn't, you know, it it didn't feel like I had much confidence after that in dentists.
SPEAKER_03I was like, ah, are they all like this? Great. Now when you s that way I instantly think of Steve Martin and Little Shop of Horse. I'll be your dentist. Right.
SPEAKER_01I put that picture up when my brother said, so uh how did they how did they rip it out? What did they use?
SPEAKER_03And I just sent a picture of Steve Martin with the flyers and uh now scream now rent.
SPEAKER_04Oh god.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy. That's funny. Oh yeah. Cool. Well I'm glad uh I'm glad you got it taken out and I'm glad you're good. I uh had a little muscle spasm, a little muscle strain in my back. I didn't think it was a big deal when it first happened. I thought it was just a little crap or something, and then I woke up the next day and it took me a whole two, three minutes to roll out of bed. That was fun. You know, couldn't really still can't really like bend over stuff like that, but you know, I'm glad it's nothing worse than that. But that morning was a shit morning.
SPEAKER_01So see, right now all I'm thinking of the is the the episode where Q becomes a human in Star Trek and he ends up experiencing a back spasm and he he it's like I can't move. I don't I don't know what the word I think it's ow. Ow, ow, yeah. Ow. So yeah. Backspasms suck. Yeah, they're absolutely horrible.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then of course, you know, I talked to my father and he gave me, I knew what he was already going to say before I told him. He's like, we know what that means. Like, yes, dad, what does it mean? It means you're getting old. Yes, dad, I know. Means I'm getting old. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, thank you. Love you too.

SPEAKER_01All right. I I like it when parents like to rub that in. They're like, oh, you know, you're just getting old, you know.
SPEAKER_03I think they can't wait to do it. They they wait, they wait for it. They wait for those moments, they can be like, ha ha.
SPEAKER_01I'm not the only one. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, you're not.
SPEAKER_01No, we all do it.
SPEAKER_03But we both survived. We're here. We're here, everybody.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are. It's gonna be a little bit of a short episode today, folks, because uh I'm still editing the last episode because of being on antibiotics that took away every single ounce of my energy on top of being in pain from them ripping out the tooth. So I did a lot of nothing until I was off those drugs. Because uh bless them antibiotics, but goddamn them antibiotics, because I just cannot do no energy when you know you can do things and have to do things and you can't do things. Right. I I yeah. No, not my not a fan. Me neither. Not a fan at all.
SPEAKER_03That's kind of what I'm going through with this back thing where it's just like, oh, I need to do this, and you do this, and I can't. I have to sit here because it hurts.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah. But just imagine the feeling of waking up in the morning feeling great, like you're just gonna be able to, you know, have your cup of tea and enjoy yourself, but then knowing that you're gonna have to pop a pill that's gonna take away all your energy. Right, yeah. Just for like, you know, six days straight. Every morning I'm like, oh boy, I get to wake up to get tired again. So yeah. It's been fun. But what can you do?
SPEAKER_03Uh Bet Midler from Hocus Pocus comes into mind. It's like, what a glorious morning. Makes me sick. Yes. All right. Let's go. Let's get in the car and drive. Let's jump into this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Let's jump into the news. The news, the news.
SPEAKER_03Let's talk about the news.
SPEAKER_01Yes. What's up? Well, we got a a series coming out on Blu-ray, which I uh, of course, am a huge fan of. Uh Superman and the animated series is coming to Blu-ray.
SPEAKER_03Is that what the TAS stood for? Cool. Yes. I was like Superman.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just Superman.
SPEAKER_03Superman tag. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03We'll see.
SPEAKER_01But it's it'll be coming to Blu-ray uh for its uh 25th anniversary, so it's been 25 years since that started. Cool. Speaking about getting old. Yeah. It'll be uh in stores uh October 12th. Okay. And it'll be ranging at about 69.99.
SPEAKER_0369.99, everybody.
SPEAKER_01Cool. Three seasons of the animated series, plus whatever bonuses they're gonna add in there and behind the scenes. Only three seasons, huh? Uh it went three seasons, but it was damn good. As one of the producers or the uh writers of it said, it's one of those where if they were to just take these and use them as a template, put them into live action, everybody would love Superman again. And it's true. Because these were just done the right way.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, just take those, take those and kind of make them. I mean, you know, I it's I know everybody wants to do Superman for the live screen because he's a bigger than life character, but you know, why save him for a big budget movies? Why not go back to you know, it's like, hey, here's a live action series of Superman and not have it be Lois and Clarkey and just have it be like, no, this is about Superman. I mean, I know they did Smallville, but you know, that's that was before he put on that's before he put on the, you know, let's let's see him, let's see him after he's been doing this a while. And you know, then it's like, you know, it's you know, it's fucking Superman TV show.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well they have the Superman Lois show. Uh I've only seen a couple of episodes of it, and everybody's saying it's good.
SPEAKER_03So there there is a newer, there's a new Superman show out? Yes. Oh, shows how much I pay attention to fucking Superman. So that's okay. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01Cool. It it cool, cool, cool. Uh ties to the Supergirl TV show that they did, and then like the whole or Earth 2, Earth 7, or 28, that type of thing.
SPEAKER_03Well, see then, yeah, that's the same. So that's not what I'm talking about then. I'm talking about own like don't attach it to anything, don't make it part of any kind of universe. Give give Superman his own fucking show. Like Yes. Yeah. So I agree. I agree. I don't think I watched any of the animated series of Superman, but um, I'll give it a look.
SPEAKER_01Worth it.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Worth it. I'll give it a look. Because they when Batman, the animated series, all of a sudden went through a kind of a animation change. The reason they did that was so that way it could incorporate it into the Superman show. So they did a crossover with Batman and uh and Superman. So really good. Okay. Really worth it. So yeah, if you haven't seen it, folks, it it's worth it. When's that when's I think that's all I can say?
SPEAKER_03I think I ran over when you were gonna get the date. What dates I dropped? It's October 12th. October 12th, everybody. $69.99. $69.99. That's like the family mail at Chantams.

SPEAKER_03What's next?
SPEAKER_01Next up, next up, we got uh Willem Defoe gave a very vague answer to him uh possibly being in Spider-Man No Way Home. That means he's gonna show up. Right. When he was talking to the rap, he said, I got lots of stuff happening right now. And you know, I I I feel like when a film comes out, that's when you want to talk about it. So take that any which way you want to, folks, but kind of sounds like he's in it.
SPEAKER_03Hmm. I just Willem Defoe, for those that are just like, huh? I mean, because you never know, played Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man with Toby McGuire.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he did.
SPEAKER_03And yeah, I know one of the big gripes that I share with you is, you know, why take one of the most facialed expressioned actors on the planet that can almost kind of make himself look like a goblin. I mean, you watch that scene where he's talking to himself, and then there's no almost and then you put him in a big motorcycle helmet and you hide all that.
SPEAKER_01So Right Yeah, no, it That man is able to completely stretch his face into absolute terrifying, psychotic, just straight up goblin-looking face. He looks like the green goblin. All you had to do was paint his face green and give him like the whatever the ears or whatever you had to do to make him look like he did in the comic books, and people would have enjoyed that more than, yes, like you said, motorcycle biker outfit and uh like hockey mask, straight up, you know, goalie mask, where you could see his mouth moving on the inside, and you're like going, Can we just move that crap in front of his face so we can see him doing his job? Yeah. So I really hope that if he is in this next one, that we get a more accurate to the comic style uh Green Goblin. Because all this multiverse of madness that's going on with even with what if and all that tying into Loki, Disney Plus has put the what if series in the cinematic universe category. So this is full-on canon. So if they're gonna keep going that weird different multiverse route, pull him out of a more of an accurate style like we saw with Old Man Loki. I just it just I can I say that. Just do it. Just do it. Even if you gotta just do a little bit of the outfit from the Sam Raimi one, but then just the mask is gone and he's doing something else with a helmet, and just like his face is all just you know, straight up Willem Dafoe, psychotic, crazy, terrifying. All of the above that is Willem Defoe when he wants to be.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I think Willem That's what I want to say. I think Willem Dafoe would have made a good joker.
SPEAKER_01Oh, absolutely. Still could. Yeah, still could. No reason why he couldn't. And I also jump into you know both worlds.
SPEAKER_03I also think, you know, uh I I look forward to when we get to talk about what if, because I'm I'm I imagine we're gonna save that for the full run, and that's another one we can break down episode by episode. But so far, what if is fantastic. That's that's some good stuff, man.
SPEAKER_01That's that's yes. So hopefully he is in uh the movie because everybody else seems to be in the movie. Lindafo, hopefully he shows up. That's right. Yes. Next up we have some leaked pictures from the Moon Knight set. Not really from the set, looks like they just straight up took it off the screen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh so it could be from the editing room, could be from the set. Who knows? If somebody's uh missing somebody taking a picture off the screen on set while it's happening, you need to look a little closer. But hey, who knows?
SPEAKER_03Cameras are getting smaller and bigger every day, so we don't know which ones people are using. He he almost looks like a variant of spawn. Right? Just the way they kind of they've they've done it, you know. But it looks uh yeah. It looks looks cool. Looks cool. I mean, I don't I you know, people are gonna be like, oh, I I don't know. His voice one is using like, it's okay. I'm like, no, it looks it looks cool.
SPEAKER_01You know, not being the the like having we haven't seen him really in action, we haven't seen the whole full cost and moving or anything like that. We're not seeing the the lighting the way it needs to be, because that could just be like you know, some kind of a flash going off at that point, or you know, it there's there's a flickering of light and we're getting the the most lit up shot of him. Right. I'm sure that we're gonna be getting some really epic shots when it comes to this character. You know, he's he's you know it for a lot of people he is the Batman of the Marvel universe.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01He's also got multiple personality disorder and he's possessed by a Egyptian god.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I'll be honest, I don't know a whole lot about Moon Knight other than playing him as a character in like Marvel Alliance or something like that. And I was like, oh, he's he's got a little staff, he's got a cloak, looks cool. I'll use him. Moon Knight, that's a cool name. So I didn't know all that.
SPEAKER_01That's neat. Yeah. A former boxer, marine CIA operative, and a mercenary found himself, you know, like close to death betrayed by Raul Bushman. Bushman. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think you nailed that one. Yeah, thank you.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, it wasn't really hard to say, just you know, just you don't hear that last name very much. It's like, what's your name?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'm James Bushman. Do you do porn? Right. Some 70s porn star. Starring Raoul Bushman.
SPEAKER_01Also starring Jake Johnson.
SPEAKER_03Introducing Finn Wolfhard.
SPEAKER_02Okay, all right, back to the subject at hand.
SPEAKER_01Christ, I'm dying over here. Right.
SPEAKER_00Oh poor.
SPEAKER_01Love it. Love it, love it. Yes, cool. Also, uh characters born in Chicago, and he's a Jewish American son of a rabbi who gets possessed by a Egyptian god.
SPEAKER_03That seems real that seems real complex.
SPEAKER_01That's that's okay and I hope they keep it that way. I hope it's Jewish American. I hope it's like like let's let's include everybody. So uh yeah, no, I think that would be cool, and I can't wait for this show because I I was always a fan of Moon Knight when I was a kid, because it it was an awesome look. You know, just this this you know, guy with the crescent moon on his chest, the hooded look, and the way that they would draw him, you'd be like, you know, in the shadows, but like just everything was kind of lighting up off of the white costume in just the right way. You know? The moonlight. The moon night. Perfect. So yesh, it was uh it's good. A couple of the things that they've done recently, my brother sent me something that was pretty awesome. It's this guy's shooting at Moon Knight as he's getting closer and closer, and he's just unloading his gun at him, and he's like, Why can't I hit you? And he goes, Because I'm not real. And when I heard that, I was like, Well, that's the I'm Batman of the Marvel Universe. For sure, for sure. And for sure, it's an awesome line. So hopefully they use that one. And also the other one is they asked, Who are you? He's like, I'm the one you see coming.
SPEAKER_03I'm vengeance, I'm Batman.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm the one you see coming, as opposed to just like, you know, the one in the shadows behide and come out. You never see me coming. I just love that it's like, I'm the one you see coming. Right. Yeah, and yeah, and I'm still gonna get you. That's cool.
SPEAKER_03So all right, Moon Knight.
SPEAKER_01Can't wait for this. Oscar Isaac is playing Moon Knight.
SPEAKER_03For those who don't know who Oscar Isaac is, he is Poe Dameron. Yes, everybody's favorite pilot, especially Finn's. And looks like Emily Van Camp is coming back as Sharon Carter. And then I just saw this little thing from Entertainment Weekly says Ethan Hawk says Oscar Isaac recruited him in a coffee shop for Marvel's Moon Knight. So I guess Ethan Hawk's gonna show up at some point.
SPEAKER_01Ethan Hawk is playing the villain. There you go. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Look at that.
SPEAKER_01So he might be playing Mr. Bushman.
SPEAKER_03Good, because he looks like he could pass for 70s points. Yeah, why not? That's great. Cool. Moon Knight. I look forward to it. Right. Check it out. Uh check it out. Check it out.
SPEAKER_01What's next? There are rumors that John Boyega is gonna be getting a Disney Plus show about Finn.
SPEAKER_02Huh.
SPEAKER_01And I remember the last time he was in an interview and they said, like, uh, would you be willing to do other stories like what? You mean like Disney Plus? They're not gonna Disney Plus me, man. Oops. They might have Disney plus him.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They gave Watsis Bucket his own movie or his own show, didn't they?
SPEAKER_03From Rogue One?
SPEAKER_01Andor, Cassian Andor, yeah. He's he's getting uh his own show.
SPEAKER_03Oh, well, yeah, why not Finn? Yeah, sure. Like everybody gets a show. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_01Right. It's the rumor's coming from Star Wars News.net. Okay. And uh it's kind of talking about how it would focus on Finn, uh, how he became a stormtrooper. So we'd probably see, you know, Finn get abducted from somewhere and then him becoming a stormtrooper, and then it would then take place, show him after the events of episode nine, possibly Jedi training or him as a Jedi. Oh, but all this is rumor at this point.
SPEAKER_03Rumor has it.
SPEAKER_01Uh who knows?
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we're we're getting so much Star Wars. Yeah, we're getting so much Star Wars that uh I if they pack that in, I I would like to see it. I would like to see them actually kind of fulfill him becoming the Jedi that I thought he was gonna be with just the the trailer from episode seven, you know, when he lit up that lightsaber and then it goes Star Wars, the Force Awakens. I'm like, yeah, okay, I'm in. I want to see his story of him becoming a Jedi. And oh boy, did they change that. So really pushed that aside and then just hinted at him becoming Jedi. So if that happens, I'm in.
SPEAKER_03Cool. Maybe we'll get an announcement, maybe we won't. We'll see. I'm also in. Yeah. I'm in with Finn.

SPEAKER_01Finn Wolfheart. Uh yes. So speaking of announcements, Anthony Mackey is signed on for Captain America for. Dope. Getting his own movie, not just Disney Plus show. Dope. Let's go, Papa Doc.
SPEAKER_03Love it. I'm excited. Cut him the check. Cut the check. I've seen some people on Twitter, because you know, Twitter's the most positive place you can go to for good reviews and good comments. You know, if you have people like one of the funniest comments I saw was, man, this is one of the worst outfits in the MCU. It looks like it's too big for him. I don't understand the white pants and why they had to leave the top of the helmet open so he has to show his fade. I don't like it.
SPEAKER_01I I I have to agree with them. It's not really the best. They they tried doing the like from comic book to screen outfit. And it just it doesn't really work on screen.
SPEAKER_03You know, I think I heard something. Well, the suit looks ugly. It's like, man, you can't win sometimes, man. Well, no, you can't win at all when it comes to certain fans, at least. Well, the militant inside of me wants to go, well, hey, why does the black Captain America gotta wear all that white? Isn't that kind of productive to what we're trying to do? But Anthony Mackey getting his own movie as uh as Captain America. Let's go. I'm down. Yeah. Cut the check.
SPEAKER_01Moving on, moving on. He-Man trailer for Netflix.
SPEAKER_03Oh, like Kevin Smith's season two He-Man trailer, Justice? No. Oh, what what do you whatever do you mean?
SPEAKER_01This is a complete reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_01Uh for Netflix. But we just did a reboot of He-Man. No, we didn't do a reboot, we did a continuation. Oh, that's that's true. That is true. That is true. Masters of the Universe revelations, not He-Man. That's right. Masters of the Universe. Right. So this one is complete reboot. And in my opinion, it just looks bad. It looks like it's like, let's make a He-Man show for little kids. I'm pretty sure that's what they did.
SPEAKER_03I also saw the trailer, and I'm pretty sure that's what they did. And they tried to throw in some some kind of mild little jokes to maybe have the the the parents that have to, you know, have their kids watch this get involved. But it definitely yeah, it felt like, yeah, this is not geared towards me at all. This is geared towards kids and trying to sell a new line of He-Man toys. That's what it's it's what it feels like.
SPEAKER_01And it it had that feel of you know when when the Saturday morning cartoons all of a sudden had these rush of CGI cartoons, fully CGI, something I forgot what they were called, but it it has that feel to it, even though it's of course leaps and and bounds better than the CGI that we had in those Saturday morning cartoons, but it still has that feel. Like I was watching it going, I'm being taken back to a time where I didn't enjoy these cartoons. So I it I did kind of freak out a little bit, like, wait a minute, I called something, but it was for the wrong show. When all of a sudden they're like, We have the power.
SPEAKER_02I went, Hey, I said that they were gonna do that, and Kevin Smith.
SPEAKER_03Well, just like when I was a kid, it didn't make me want to watch He-Man. No. I I saw it and I was like, nah, I'll pass. Not for me. I'm waiting for part two of Kevin's. Well, hey, all those people who complained about Kevin Smith, there wasn't enough He-Man. Now they hit now. Here, here you go. Here's your show. Go watch this one. All the He-Man you want. Go ahead. And you get to watch uh shut the fuck up. Stop complaining. Here you go. Whoa. Whoa. Alright, we can move on. That's enough hate. Your back hurts, bro. My back hurts. My heart hurts. It all hurts.
SPEAKER_01Well, speaking of heart, yeah. Ironheart will be showing up in Black Panther Wakanda forever. And Ironheart, for those who don't know. I was just because this is this is this is me going.

SPEAKER_01So who? Yeah. Huh? Who? I believe gonna be our next Iron Man, but not Iron Man. Re Ree Well um. Re-Re Williams. I can't talk. Re Ree Williams is the young lady's name in the comic books. She will be showing up in Wakanda Forever. The actress's name is Dominique Thorne. Okay. And Kevin Feige said that they're they're working on Black Panther right now. And the character will be debuting in the movie just before she starts filming her show.
SPEAKER_03So sorry, I was just looking at it. I was just looking at a real quick thing. Here's something that you're gonna wow. Wow, wow, wow. So here's the thing. Go ahead. Uh the show was created by a young lady named Shinaka Hodge.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I know Shinaaka Hodge. Do you? We used to go to the same church growing up. My father and her father still go to church together. Her brother Chakuti is a really great drummer who I also know. Jakuti is actually the one who got me in the band with Jimmy because he turned down the job and he was like, Oh, but I know a drummer. Why don't you guys go get a Keely? And so this actually blows my mind. I did not know this. That's really cool. Yeah. Good for her, man. She's she's super talented. She's always been in a even back when we were like younger, she always was just strides ahead of her and her brother. Like they're just super talented people. Jacuti is like this super world-class drummer and this and that.
SPEAKER_01But well, talented people, no talented people.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That's really cool. I am uh yeah. Cool. It's Ironheart.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03He created that. That's dope.

And uh, you know, they've been there forever. They've been here on Earth forever. Uh at least we find out the exact time of being 7,000 years they've been on Earth. Where were they during everything? During the invasion of New York, and where were they when Thanos did his thing and why didn't they fight him and all that? And they actually touch on that in this new trailer. So indeed, we get kind of a big answer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No pun intended. Uh basically the the the celestials that created the Eternals said uh don't don't interfere. Don't interfere with mankind, you know, whatever happens, happens. I guess we're gonna get to the point where they're gonna say, uh yeah, no, we can't do that anymore.
SPEAKER_03Well, sure, because right in the trailer, I guess with the snap. Oh, well, they don't that's not what they call it, right?
SPEAKER_01Well she said uh she says with the snap of the finger everybody comes back.
SPEAKER_03But what do they call it? They call it, they have a a name I don't like for it. Um was it the blip? I don't know. They called it the blip.
SPEAKER_01They called it the blip, I guess, I believe, in uh in Spider-Man Far From Home. But they called it the Snap. To you know I don't know. I think it was the Snap.

So I guess because of the snap, it's um set off this chain of events in the universe, and it looks like it's gonna kinda destroy the planet, or you know, at least everybody on it do some major harm, or yeah, the humans that the Eternals have grown to love and care for are gonna be wiped out, and that's when they decide to put their foot down. Yep. And and step in. So um what I will say is like the first trailer, yeah, it the first trailer didn't get me invested. I was just more curious. The second trailer pushed me over the fence. We're like, oh yeah, this is this is gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah. Hopefully, uh, hopefully we're able to be in movie theaters at that point. It's in November, so yeah.
SPEAKER_03King Rob shooting lasers out of his eyes, uh, Angelita Jolie getting 300 on people. Like, it's uh this really cool. I like the I like that shot at the little Parthian. How should we start it off with let's we can at least start about talk about the beginning with Bad Batch being introduced in the Clone Wars season seven. Mm-hmm. And when I heard they were getting their own show, I went okay.

SPEAKER_03I mean, why? But okay. Oh, really? I was juiced. Because I it to me it made perfect sense. I was like, well, yeah, I watch a whole show with these cats, like they're dope.
SPEAKER_01You know, the them being introduced in season seven and everything. I guess I was sitting there going, I've seen clones, I've been watching clones for six, eight seven seasons now, and everything like that. I guess I was more invested in the Jedi.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01Dig it. Then I saw the uh first couple episodes of this show, and I went, Oh, I need to go back and watch season seven again. And I did, and then I was just like, okay, now I'm completely in. It it it didn't get me at first, but once I started watching, I went back and I was like, okay, now I see what I missed. I guess I was just kind of waiting for the next episode when I was watching season seven of of Clone Wars. I was like, I guess I just missed what was so good about it. But I enjoyed it. And uh with episode one, especially tying in the Rebels show, where you get to see uh Kanan Jarrus.
SPEAKER_03Freddie Freddie Prince come back and does a little there's a little young Kanan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And we we get to see his story of losing his master and the clone wars and the reason why he felt betrayed and all this jazz, and and that was a great way of starting it. I thought that was really well done.
SPEAKER_03What was disappointing was in the first episode of The Bad Batch, it they already it's like they broke the team up already. I kind of like that. Because you have, you know, you go in and all of a sudden order 66 and then crosshairs goes all a good soldier follows orders, and it's like, oh already, oh, you're gonna break the team up already? Episode one? Come on, and and the sniper. I mean, if any, you know, if anybody who's played a little Call of Duty and you you put a team together, you can't lose your sniper. Like that's come on, what are we doing? Yeah, but you know, but I didn't take away from it. I was just like, uh oh.
SPEAKER_01All right.

SPEAKER_01I like that awe, you know, that we just lost our brother. And then it's sure we don't understand why he turned on us until they find out why. And you know, it being the chip in the head and all that jazz. At first they're like going, Why are you being such a dickhead? And then it's uh oh, it's not his fault. I I dug that just tragedy of it. You're you're losing your brother, and even your brother's not in control of why he is just saying, No, I I I'm not following you guys, I'm following our one and true leader, and that's the Emperor. And they're going, Who are you, man? So that I dug. I like that. Cool. At first I was I was kind of going, Who's this kid? When I talk about uh Omega being introduced. When she shows up, I'm like going, Why are they doing this? Who is this? Uh uh and especially the uh just the excitement that she had for this crew of guys. Yeah, it I didn't understand it at first. And and of course, you're not supposed to. Right. So I was like, all right, what's going on here? Because the reveal is really great. Yeah. Mm-hmm. You know, at first I thought it was going like, well, we're really going for the kids now. Like this is like straight up kids now show, oh no, but then it just went, whoop, nope. That's a a portion of the show, sure, as as well as all Star Wars movies and cartoons are. But this one is it's definitely geared for the fans and the more young adult and adult crowd. But it still gives a a hero to the kids, which is cool.
SPEAKER_03Much in the same way that I think they've continued the line with with Clone Wars and Rebels, like it on the surface, it's like it appears like, nope, this is just for kids, blah blah blah. But you know, as you watch and dive into it's not you deal with really adult themes, you deal with really like some soul searching type stuff, and it's it's it's it's neat. Right.

SPEAKER_01I I dug that. I th because they were even showing how they could like just up the juice. Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's he's you know, he's responding, but not quite much. He's fighting it. Okay. Just turn it up a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they fucking jacked up Crosshair's little inhibitor chip, and now he he's he's full empire. He's full about it. Crazy. Now uh that was uh good old Tarkin. Tarkin discovers that, doesn't he? Yes. Then he ordered that because he tries to put him through that little trial, and they're like, uh I'm not impressed with the bad baby. I like this one, you know.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, the moment they found that one kind of stuck around and said no. He went, Oh, okay. Well, what's with him? Oh, it's it's reacting, but not much. Oh well then turn it up. Turn it up, yeah. You may fire when ready. You may turn it up when ready. His favorite thing to say. Just when ready.
SPEAKER_03Right. When when ready. And a cookie's just a cookie, but a fig newton's fruit and cake. That's right.
SPEAKER_01So we don't go off subject at all. Not one bit. Yeah, he ups the juice. Mm-hmm. And then we start getting little hints at that maybe not not everybody else is immune to the whole inhibitor chip as well.
SPEAKER_03Right. Might jump back and forth here. Jump back and forth. I like the callbacks to the other shows, the the the the other cameos and other people that show up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, when you have Sal Guerrera in what was that, episode two?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01That was cool. Not for Switaker, but that's okay. It's probably the same guy that they had for Clone Wars.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Gentleman named Andrew Kishino did Sol Guerrera. So he's a dude who did Clone Wars. There you go. Also, Finnic Shand shows up. Yes. Who is who is voiced by the same uh young lady, Ming Na Wen, who does the live action Finnic Shan in The Mandalorian and will be in the Book of Fett. So I thought that was cool. And I did not know that Rhea Pearlman was the voice of Sid.

But she's had Chopper since she was a kid, and that explains a lot of her, you know, pissed offness. You know, when you know he uses Chopper as part of his bet and loses Chopper to Lando Calarusian. When you see uh this guy who's listening to what's going on in the battle, he's running towards uh the the redhead in Return of the Jedi. You know, many botans died to bring us this message.

And as he's running towards her, going, ma'am, madam, or whatever he's saying, you see on the left-hand side of the screen Chopper kind of, you know, rapha rap rap rap and just do his thing and and go off screen. They've done that, and you see the ghost ship in the battle as everybody's warping it, or not warping it.
SPEAKER_03So I have to check that again. I guess you don't see her actually piloting ghosts, but you definitely see the ship. So you see the ship. That's cool. That's cool. Very cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So that was a I I enjoyed that episode too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because it even brought back her dad and kind of the reason why he was uh, you know, uh on the run when you see him in Rebels.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then you had the Martez sisters. Yes. They pop up, and then we first saw them when uh when Ahsoka crash lands by their shop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the Ahsoka episodes of uh season seven.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we had the Martez sisters show back up, and their whole thing is cool as like, oh, because we're working for somebody who's fighting against the Empire, and you're like, oh shit, who would that be? Blah blah blah. Turns out to be fucking good old Captain Rex and shit. Yep. Voiced by D. Bradley Baker, so he gets getting all the credits. Yep.
SPEAKER_01And I I like that tying to that, they ended up rescuing a clone who it turns out to be Gregor from Rebels.

SPEAKER_03Reminds me of this joke, Howie Mandel did when he was doing stand-up. He had this real funny thing. He's like, you know, it's funny. I did a show called Muffet Babies, and I did twin skeeter and scooter, and they talked just like this. And then I got I did Gremlins and I did a little gizmo character, and he he kind of sounded just like this. And then I ended up doing a show called Bobby's World, and he talked just like this. Three jobs, one fucking voice.
SPEAKER_01I do remember that, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01But yeah, going to uh going back to Gregor, I enjoyed that because Gregor was I wanted to see what Gregor was like uh as a younger man. It was cool to see just because he was exactly the same. He just had hair and and his eye wasn't uh wasn't out yet. So that was a cool little tie-in. I'm wondering if they're gonna tie in Wolf to season two and if we're gonna see more of Gregor and Rex.
SPEAKER_03I think he might pop back up. Yeah, I would hope that I for sure. Captain Rex is he's never going away until he I think until he dies. He's like the clone trooper. I think he's been he's been there since what Clone Wars episode one when he's rolling with Yoda, so he's been the guy.
SPEAKER_01And also, I think they've actually made it official that the rebel trooper with the white beard, the old man that you see in Return of the Jedi, when Han Solo taps the stormtrooper on the shoulder and then runs. Yeah. And hey, yeah, and then he goes around to the corner and there's all those rebel troopers. One of them has a big old white beard, and they're saying basically that that's Rex. They just they straight up just marveled it.
SPEAKER_03It's like, is that Pete is that? Is that Peter Parker?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Why not? Right, sure.
SPEAKER_01And if I mean that works if they did that on accident, cool. If they did that on purpose, like let's make that old man into Rex and Rebels, and then we'll just tie it all together and everything will be fine.

SPEAKER_01I'm I'm down. That's great. I enjoy it. I'm also down. Because that would mean that there is a clone other than Boba Fett still, you know, in in the original trilogy. So that was cool. I enjoyed that episode. Cool. And that that cameo.

SPEAKER_03For sure. I liked the first finale better than the second finale. Like the second to last episode was really good. I didn't think I'd care about them taking out Camino, but when they put the attack on Camino, I was like, holy shit, dude, they just brought the whole fucking thing down.
SPEAKER_01Like that was that was really crazy. And it it it I I like that they did that too, because you know, where the hell are all these cloning facilities during the original trilogy? And now they answered it. It's gone. Yeah, they they pretty much killed everybody and blew the fuck up, exactly. So yeah, that was cool.
SPEAKER_03And I and I did like you know, crosshairs just being all fucking, yeah, meh, meh. Why do we why are you taking orders from a kid? Meh. Right. Why do we need to do this? Meh. And he's just like, nah, we're even now. Meh. And it's like they're still your brothers, you know. Right. Like, yeah. Yeah, so you know, they I like that they, you know, they give him that choice and they just kind of leave him there. And it's even like, bro, you understand that the Empire literally just tried to blow you up, not knowing if you were safe or not. Like they didn't, you know, they didn't give two fucks, but the dude's made his choice. So we'll see.
SPEAKER_01When it comes to that, do you think that he actually did have his chip removed? Because I don't think he did. I think he was fucking.
SPEAKER_03I don't think he did either. I think he told them what they what he needed to hear as part of just his whole like, yeah, I'm with the empire now, like, and I've been this way the whole time.

And I'm like, that's supposed to mean something, and I don't know what it means. I'm proud of myself because I didn't really do any research. I just kind of was I was sitting there thinking because I had a lot of time to when you hurt your back and you just have to lay there, you have a lot of time to kind of think. So I was kind of going through it. I was like, I was like, man, I know that's important. I just don't know why. And I was like, wait, she was on the cloning visa. Wait. Right? Fucking Snoke was a clone. Lipa.
SPEAKER_01The outfit that the I just had an apostrophe. I think you mean an epiphany. The outfit that the lady was wearing was also the same outfit that the cloner dude was wearing in Mandalorian.

SPEAKER_01So it all it's all tying into those. It's tying into not only Mandalorian, but you know, of course, the the reason uh why Snoke was created and why they were trying to clone the Emperor and why they needed Grogu's blood and all this different stuff.

So it it I like that switch all of a sudden it went from she's the kid to she's the elder, she's the one who's been around longer, even though they're more experienced when it comes to military stuff. She's she's been on you know this existence, this plane longer than they have. So she uh she all of a sudden became the the older sister.
SPEAKER_03I think that's why it's cool because when you get to the end and and crosshairs tries to throw that jab, it's like uh she's calling the shots now. It's like look, motherfucker, you haven't you don't know her, number one, and you don't you don't know what's happening, and she's kind of the the elder statesman at this point. Like now she cut she's officially part of the team, so right. She doesn't call the shots, but we respect it when she's when she speaks and gives Wait, maybe we should go this way. It's underwater, trust me. Like, yeah, like we're gonna we're gonna fucking follow the lead. Yep. So I think that was great how their whole relationship developed, and we'll see how they continue going down. I guess uh second season will be in 2022 at some point.
SPEAKER_01At some point. And not only that, we're also getting let's see, we're getting the uh Book of Boba Fett this year, as well as we're also getting the Star Wars Visions cartoons that are coming in.
SPEAKER_03Is Ahsoka dropping this? Is Ahsoka show dropping this year or not till next year?
