AMPLIFY Your Brand and Business
213 | The Way You Treat Your Workspace = The Way You Treat Your Business
Today we're talking about the importance of creating an intentional workspace.
Summary:
I’ve seen it in my own business: when my workspace is messy, my creativity shrinks and my business plays small right along with it. The truth is, the way we treat our physical space is often a mirror for how we treat our business. In this episode, I’m sharing why decluttering and creating an intentional workspace matters more than you think — and how even small changes can completely shift your energy, productivity, and the growth you see in your life and business.
Inside this episode, we’re covering:
- Why cluttered workspaces = cluttered headspace (and how it affects your business decisions)
- How your physical environment mirrors the way you’re showing up in your business
- Simple shifts to create an intentional space that inspires creativity and focus
- Why even a small, designated “work zone” can dramatically improve productivity
I can't wait for you to dive in!

Hello and welcome to Amplify your Brand and Business the podcast that helps you create a brand that sells out your offers 24-7, so you don't have to. In today's episode, I want to talk about something that is actually so important and so critical for growing your brand but also growing your business, and I actually released an episode. Oh gosh, this was way, way back. This was when it was still called she Calls Her Shots. I released a podcast way back in the day around your creative space and creating an office space that feels like a creative space that you want to be in, a space that inspires you, a space that you look around at and you think, gosh, I can't wait to sit down and actually get work done today and I had this whole episode and it's so funny because at the time, I remember getting so much feedback, like getting so many people sending me DMs and telling me they just rearranged their office space or they just hung up new artwork or they just decluttered or reorganized Like. I got so many messages around that and I was thinking about that this morning because it feels really relevant to re-talk about this right now. What I actually really want to talk about is decluttering, like getting rid of the junk, getting rid of the bills, the to-dos, the like, actual scraps of paper that you have been meaning to throw away but you haven't actually thrown them in the garbage can that are sitting on your desk. Like I want to talk about actually cleansing your office space, and even more than that, if you don't have a dedicated office space, if you're one of those people, like I, love the ability to work on my laptop and to choose to work from anywhere in the house, but if you're one of those people who works 99% of the time from the couch and doesn't actually have a dedicated workspace, a place that you can sit down like, focus in, like, get work done, feel inspired. That's what I want to talk about today is creating an intentional space where you feel like you can sit down, focus in and get work done.
Speaker 1:And I have been guilty of having messy office spaces. I mean like, oh gosh, I can't even tell you. I mean so many times I've had office spaces where I look around and I'm just like there's clutter, there's things everywhere, and I noticed that it affected my productivity. Not only did I not feel excited to go and even look at my office, let alone sit down at the desk. But when I would sit down to work, all my brain would constantly go to is the clutter, the mess, the thing that needs to need to be put away. And the thing is is that those thoughts are creating like deeper signals, I feel like inside of your brain.
Speaker 1:Because when you're thinking about the clutter, when you're thinking about the to-dos, when you're thinking about, oh, I still haven't paid this, or I still haven't done this, or I still need to work on this, your brain is going to translate that into all of the rest of the areas of your life. And so if you're sitting down to work on your business, if you're sitting down wanting to grow, wanting to call in more clients, wanting to create this business that feels magnetic, but your brain is constantly subconsciously thinking I need to do this, I need to do this, oh, this is messy, oh, this is dirty, oh, I need to like be better at this. Or like, oh, I can't believe I let this get messy again. I just cleaned this up. When your brain is living in that space, it's almost impractical to think that you're going to be able to do high level work that's going to feel really magnetic and call in dream clients. So I really want to just take today this is going to be a short episode I want to encourage you to really look around and think about what is the intentional space that I'm creating when I sit down to work. Is it messy? Is it dirty? Am I finding that it's not putting me in like the most creative, inspirational headspace that I can be in? Because it's going to be really really difficult to not only create inspired posts, like I want you to think about if you were sitting down to write content and you were in a space that felt really cluttered and messy, right Like you're not going to create the most inspired, magnetic content just because your physical area is not conducive to creating creatively, like that's just not how it's set up for. But I want you to also think about the way that you treat the space around you is also how you're treating your business, and I'm going to say that again the way that you're creating the space around you is the way that you're creating your business, and that one's going to cut a little deep, and I have felt this.
Speaker 1:I have seen this happen so many times in my business when I let myself live in, work in spaces that were cluttered, messy, like not at the level that I wanted them to be, and not even because there was shame and guilt around it. It wasn't like, oh, this shouldn't be dirty or oh, this should look better. There was no shame or guilt there. It was just I didn't want that. Realistically, I didn't want to have a space that felt cluttered and messy, and yet I was letting myself live in that space. I was allowing that space to be something that I didn't even want it to be, and the reason was is because it was a way for me to stay safe. It was a way for me to play small. On the most subconscious level. It was me accepting that, well, this is just how my life is right now. And the interesting thing is that when I played small in my life like that, when I allowed those things to continue to happen around me, even though I didn't even want them to be that way, my business also, like, played safe, my business also. I didn't create content that felt like it stretched me or like really helped me grow to the next level. I wasn't doing the activities and things that stretched me and felt hard and felt scary, like I wasn't allowing myself and my business to do the things that would actually grow it because I was playing so safe, right, and there can be so many mirrors.
Speaker 1:I mean that can be a whole podcast episode, so I'm not going to dive into that. But I want you to think about what is that space that you're creating right now and is it potentially causing an effect on how you're treating your business? Just allow yourself to think about that and, on the other hand, like I mentioned, if you don't have an intentional creative space, if you've just been working from the couch or the kitchen table and you feel like you're setting up like a new quote, unquote workspace every time you go to sit down to work, I really want to encourage you can you create one small area where you have your laptop, a candle, your journal, like creating a space that feels like something you're actually excited to sit down and focus in on work and like get things done? Because when you can create an intentional space like that, you're going to feel so much more excited to actually get work done. And you can create an intentional space like that, you're going to feel so much more excited to actually get work done and you're also likely going to be more productive.
Speaker 1:If you're anything like me, sometimes when I work from the couch, I just get sucked into like, oh, I'll just put this show on in the background or I'll just have this on as like white noise. And sometimes I need that, like when I'm deep in creating client websites and I'm doing so much behind the scenes, foundational work of just creating the bones of the website. Sometimes I need a space where there is something going on in the background, just so that, like I have something. But if I'm actually sitting down to grow the business, if I'm sitting down to create content, write blogs, like, if I'm sitting down to do things where I'm actually going to be stretching myself and putting myself in a headspace where I want to be creative and really want to push myself to do more, those spaces are not going to be the most conducive for me. So I hope that this helps you, just encourages you today to look around, think about your space, think about what improvements can I make to actually help me grow. What are some things like small tweaks that I can change that will actually serve me better in reaching the goals that I want to hit.
Speaker 1:We still have three and a half months until the end of 2025, until the new year, like that is plenty of time to see change in your business, but it starts with being aware and acknowledging the space that we're creating, the headspace we're living in and the actual workplace that we're working from. So, as always, thank you so much for being here. I'm cheering you on so, so, so much, and I hope that you remember you deserve to have that brand that does all of the selling for you, and the best way to do that is to make sure that you have a space where you can create, and just create, the most inspirational content from. I'm so grateful for you and I'll see you in the next episode.
