If you’ve been sitting at your laptop wondering what to post on IG -- or feeling like you’re creating content just to *hopefully* get more engagement -- this episode is going to feel like a breath of fresh air.

Your BEST content is hiding in plain sight… in the small, ordinary moments of your day.

Inside this episode, we’re covering:

  • Why stories that show transformation outperform posts that just tell
  • How scanning your day for “tiny moments” makes content creation feel fun and effortless
  • The subtle difference between posts that try to perform vs. posts that naturally resonate

SPEAKER_00:

Hello, hello. Welcome to Amplify Your Brand and Business, the podcast that helps you create a brand that sells out your offers 24-7 so you don't have to. I am really excited. In today's episode, we are revisiting a topic that I have spoken about before, but this was one of my higher-performing podcast episodes, and I truly am a firm believer that the things that we need to hear like come to us at the time when we need them. I've actually received a number of messages from Instagram friends, from Instagram followers who have listened to the podcast either for the first time or have re-listened after a while and have shared with me that the episodes that they have been listening to are exactly what they needed to hear. And I just I truly am a firm believer that when we allow ourselves, open ourselves up to um to learn, to really be open to new possibilities, to new perspectives, like the things that we need to learn present themselves. And so this morning I woke up and I was like, okay, I need to record a podcast episode today. And if I'm gonna be really real with you, I have found myself getting back into a cycle where I think I'm overthinking my episode topics a bit. And it's so interesting to me because the if you have been listening to the podcast for a while, you'll know that recently, um, at the like beginning of the year from February or March until May or June, I did uh like seven weeks straight of daily podcast episode drop. So Monday through Friday, five days a week for seven weeks. So whatever that is, 35 episodes in a row that I basically created in seven weeks. And I remember when I was setting myself up for that challenge because I thought, this is crazy. Like this is so many episodes. Up until that point, I'd only ever done one episode per week. So you're talking in the span of seven weeks, I would have dropped seven episodes, not 35. And I just kept thinking, am I actually gonna be able to do this? Am I setting myself up for success? Is this gonna work? I have no idea. Will I be able to create that much content? And up until that point, what I had found myself doing is I was in that place where I was overthinking my podcast episodes. I every week was thinking, what do I post? What do I share? What do I say? And the reason that I did that challenge is because I wanted to push myself. I wanted to show myself that I can do this, like I can do daily episodes. And the funny thing is, is that even though it was a lot of work, um, not so much recording's not that hard, but it was a lot of work to always kind of have my brain be on and thinking about content. Like every day I did have to challenge myself and ask, okay, what happened today? What experience did I have that I can talk about on the podcast? Like, how can I take something that I experienced or a thought that I had or an interaction that I had and bring it back to the podcast because that was the easiest way for me to be able to come up with daily content. And so even though it was a lot of work to always be on, I will tell you, I felt I was at such a creative high during those seven weeks because I just was constantly living in a place of creativity. I was constantly looking at my day, looking at the experiences that I was having, looking at the interactions, looking at the thoughts that I had and thinking, how can I bring this back to my listeners? How can I bring this into my audience? And it's funny because I haven't really thought about that. I mean, I have been thinking about it in the sense that content, I've been overthinking it a little bit. And so I have been thinking, interesting. I remember the last time I was overthinking my content, I did this challenge. And so this podcast challenge has been on my brain in some capacity, but I haven't been thinking about the fix. I hadn't been thinking about why content felt easy during that time. I wasn't thinking about it. But today I woke up and I thought, you know what? I had a podcast episode that performed really well back in May. And I feel like I need to listen to it. Like, I don't know what it was. This one episode stuck out to me. And if I'm being real with you, I really don't go back and listen to my podcast episodes. Um, for anyone else who has a podcast, I would actually be so curious. Do you listen to your own podcast again? The only time I listen to my episodes is when I'm going through them to actually edit and share them. I'll go through to make sure, you know, did I repeat something? Did I stumble? Did I say like something that I need to just cut out? That's the only time I'm really going through it, but I don't ever go back and listen to the episodes. But today I was like, I don't know why, but this is, I feel like this is something I need to do. And the reason I want to share this experience with you is because, again, I truly believe that this was the episode that I needed to hear in this moment. And I'm gonna trust that this message that we're gonna talk about today is what you need to hear today. And what I talked about in that episode that I re-listened to is this one question that really creates powerful content for you. And in that episode, I shared about how I had had a recent experience where it was a Friday afternoon and I left my uh my office at home and I went to go get boba just for fun. I was like, you know what? I have been on a boba kick for a long time. I just want to go get go get boba. And I went and I got boba and I was outside the boba shop and I like posted a fun story on my Instagram. It was two quick little slides. The first slide said something along the lines of my brand is fueled on helping women create badass businesses. And then the second slide was a picture of my boba, and I said, But on the inside, my brand is fueled by boba. Um, and it was something that I just shared. It was really lighthearted, it was really fun, it was really simple. And after I shared that piece of content in my stories, I realized content creation should feel fun. Because that post that I shared, it got some interactions, it got some gate engagement. I'm not gonna say that that was like, oh my gosh, so transformational. Everyone bought from me after I shared this. But the heartbeat behind the message that I want to come across to you right now is that when we are overthinking our content, when we're asking ourselves, what do I need to say today, when we're thinking, what do I need to post in order to get people to engage? I didn't share that story in order to get likes. I didn't share that story in order to get engagement. I shared that story because it felt really fun, it felt true to my brand, it was like lighthearted, and it was a way for people to learn more about me and my brand. I'm obsessed with boba. And I get so many people who message me that like see a boba place or get boba or like see something about boba and then message me. And it's fun, it builds this really just this deeper connection that I have with my community. And it's it's something that's so simple. But when we remove the pressure from our content creation process, when we allow ourselves to be in a mode of creativity, of openness, of looking at our experiences and looking at our conversations and our thoughts and what's happening to us and shift you into a perspective of how can I bring this back to my audience? How can I relate this back to my people today? Content creation becomes so much more fun. And so the question that I want to pose for you today in this episode is if you have been overthinking your content, if you've been stressing about what to say, if you've been thinking, I need to say the right thing so that my people buy, or I need to do the right post so that it gets engagement, or I need to share the right call to action that people actually reach out and buy for me. Like if you're thinking about your content in that way, I can promise you your content is not gonna get very much engagement and it's not gonna make you very many sales. And the reason is because when I look online, the con I see that content everywhere. Everywhere. The content that's like, if you do this, you'll get more money. Or if thinking from the brand photography sense, I see other brand photographers post things like, here are the five things that you need to do at every single shoot, or here's how I help my clients do this and this and this thing, or here's the secret to getting this and this and this, or if you want this, you need to do this. Now, hear me out. I will post content that sounds like that. It's not that there's not room in your calendar for some sort of content that is educational, that's perspective shifting. I have spent so many episodes on the podcast talking about that, and it's important to have because it builds your authority, it shows your expertise, it helps build trust, all of those things. But if the lens that you're approaching your content with is what do I need to say today in order to get engagement, and you're posting from that angle, if you're posting from that headspace, your content is not going to resonate with your people. So even when I'm creating perspective shifting posts, educational posts, like whenever I'm creating content that I know is help building my authority, my expertise, connecting with my clients, even when I'm doing that, the content that gets the most engagement, it's when I'm creating those posts from the lens and from the angle of how can I connect this back to my person today? What does my dream client need to hear? What are they need to hear that nobody else is saying? What's something that they don't even know is blocking them? Like they're not even aware that this is the problem. And how can I help shift their perspective to see it differently? Like when I come from that angle of how can I help my people, that's the content that relates so much more than when I come from an angle of what do I say today in order to get engagement or what do I post today in order to get more likes or more comments or more shares. Like that content never succeeds. And the reason is because we're putting so much pressure on it. Where when you put pressure on it to sound a certain way, you're removing you from it. You're not allowing your voice, your stories, your perspective, your ideas, your like the things that make you you, you're taking all of those out because we think I need to sound a certain type of way in order for people to like, to share, to comment, to engage. And all of a sudden now your posts don't even sound like you. That creates a disconnect. That creates this like resistance that we probably aren't even aware of with our audience. And so this question is how can you think about the things that you're experiencing on a day-to-day basis? How can we start to live in a more creative mindset so that creating content doesn't feel quite as hard? And the question that I posed, I've already kind of mentioned it, but just to reiterate, this one question that I want you to ask yourselves is what experience did I have today that my dream client would be able to relate to? What's something that I thought I had, a conversation, an experience I had that I know my dream people will relate to? And for the boba example that I shared, for example, if I went out on a Friday afternoon to go get boba, if I wanted to make that into a like quote unquote a hard-selling story, I would have said something along the lines of you deserve a brand in a business that allows you to take off on a Friday afternoon and go get your favorite boba drink just because, right? That story would have sounded way different from the lighthearted fun story that I actually shared that just build my personal brand. It shows people that I'm going out on a Friday and getting boba, but it's not me harping on you deserve a brand that allows you to take time off on a Friday to go get boba. And so the heartbeat behind this is can you show your audience the transformation? Can you show them what you give to them instead of telling them all the time? So many of us get into this cycle of I tell my people, I tell them what they're gonna get, I tell them why this matters, I tell them the results, I tell them this, I tell them that. Can you show it? When you can build in stories, when you can take a little tiny moment that you experience during the day, and when you have that moment where you realize, oh, you know what, my audience would really be able to relate to this. I know that they also struggle with this. I know that they also want this. I know that they also probably feel this when this happens to them. When you can look at the moments that you're experiencing, come at it through a lens of how can I create a post or a piece of content that's going to build connection with my dream audience. I can, I can tell them the story, I can bring them into this moment, I can help them feel a connection to me when I share this type of content. I can show them instead of just telling them. When you can focus on that, your content is become going to become so much more magnetic. And so I want you to think about on a day-to-day basis, even if you're just at home, even if you're like, Krista, but I'm boring. I don't leave my house. Let me just tell you, I'm boring too. I almost never leave my house during the day. It's something I'm trying to work on. I do want to leave my house. I'm trying to give myself weekly day dates where I just take the day off and go and get boba and walk the canal and walk outside and like go to cute bookstores and enjoy this fall season. Like this is something I'm actively working on. But at the moment, I feel a little boring and I'm home with my dogs. But it doesn't mean that I don't have thoughts or conversations or experiences or have have things that are coming up in my life that I can't still bring back and relate to my dream client. So even if you're thinking, oh, but I'm boring, or my life isn't like showy or flashy, or I'm not traveling all the time, or I'm not spending a bunch of money or doing all of this, I want you to know that those are just stories that you're telling yourself. You are you still have content inside of you, experiences that you're having, thoughts and things that your dream clients want to connect to, want to relate to. Your dream client might also feel boring. If you're anything like me, if you're listening and you're like, but Krista, I feel boring, boring. If I didn't share my stories about my life being boring, you wouldn't be able to connect that. You would think it's just you. You would think, oh, but this is a problem. This is something I need to fix. And I'm over here telling you, you don't need to fix it. We just need to change the way you're looking at it. We need to change the story that you're telling yourself about what that means. You can still have rich, full storytelling-driven content, even if you're staying at home all day. There are still experiences, thoughts, feelings, um, like things that you are feeling and going through during the day that your dream clients are also gonna be able to connect to. So I want you to think about my goal for this episode is when you start, when you sit down to write content, when you're thinking about content creation, when you're asking yourself, what should I post today? What should I write? I want you to encourage you to, instead of coming from a lens of what do I need to say today? What do I need to post today? How am I gonna get engagement? How am I gonna get likes? I want you to push those questions aside. And I want you to instead ask yourself, what have I experienced? What happened to me this week? What happened to me today? What thought did I have? What's one moment that I know my dream client will be able to connect and relate to? How can I start to tell a story that brings them into that moment where I know that they're gonna connect with it? And how can I show them instead of tell them? Your content will become so much more transformational and so much more powerful when you come from that lens. As always, thank you so much for being here.
