Dennis Deppe always knew he wanted to raise bulls. After college graduation, he bought a few Angus cows from the Mill Coulee herd and settled on his wife, Jennifer’s, home farm in Waverly, Iowa, to begin the Deppe Angus herd. “We started from scratch, raising a handful of bulls and selling to local customers,” Deppe explained. Two years later, Deppe decided to enter a bull in the Iowa Cattlemen’s Bull Test to see how their genetics were stacking up to other operations.
