Pastor Marc Whelan

Christ expects that His new creation (that’s those who believe in Him and confess Jesus as Lord), shall bear an abundance of fruit. Romans 8:14 says that ‘For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.’

Where do we get this abundance of fruit from and how do we bear it?  We should never consider any alternative source but that of the Holy Spirit. Therefore in last week’s program we briefly touched on the fruit of the Holy Spirit by looking at Galatians chapter 5 verses 22-23.

Colossians 2:9-10 (AMPC) states 9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. 10 And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

Since the Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead, and since the believer is in Him (Christ), the Holy Spirit is in Christ where we are, at the same time as Christ in us the Hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27). Therefore, the source of that fruit comes from the Holy Spirit, which is the best source and the purest fruit. The only thing in the way of this fruit that we are trying to bear and the person in front of us who desperately needs the fruit on our branch, is our free will.

Is our free will focused on the things of the Spirit or the things of the flesh? We cover in detail in Galatians 5 in this program.

This program covers the following Scriptures from the Amplified Classic version (AMPC): Galatians 5:13-24.
