(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) And a very good day. This is Pastor Marc Whelan with Touch of God. And in this final program of the current series on the truth about generational curses, we'll actually be doing a summary of the past nine weeks today in one program. So we have a lot to cover. Feel free to get a pen and paper ready. So if you have not had a chance to listen back to the past nine weeks, it's okay if you just listen to this summary, but I encourage you to go to our website at touchofgod.world, touchofgod.world, and you can catch up on this series at your convenience. So today we will be summarizing the key points of this series to help you remember so that you will never again be led astray by false teachings, which is the doctrines of devils, 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 1. And you will know what the Word of God says about this topic. After all, just remember that Jesus came to set the captives free, according to Isaiah 61 verse 1 and Luke chapter 4 verse 18. So to the born-again believer, the follower of Christ, this teaching has been applying to you. You are not cursed. God has not cursed you. The curse was put upon Jesus. He bore the curse, and now because he was cursed, you are accepted. Because he took upon himself our cursing, you now live in his blessing. All the promises of God are in Christ, yes, and in Christ, amen. The promises of God are not the curses of God, and the Lord did not clean you up and set you free just to leave you cursed. We'll be covering 10 points today, and let's start off in number one. Everything begins with the Word of God, which is the absolute truth. If you have not already done so, you have to settle that the Word of God is the absolute truth. And in the Amplified Classic edition of the Bible, Jesus said in Matthew 24 verse 35, Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. John chapter 14 verse 6, Jesus said to him, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by through me. Psalm chapter 119 verse 89, it says, Forever, O Lord, your word is settled in heaven, stands firm as the heavens. So if we believe the heaven is firm, so is the Lord's Word. Number two, pay attention to who teaches you and those wanting to help you. First John chapter 2 verse 27, it says, But as for you, the anointing, the sacred appointment, the unction which you received from him abides permanently in you. So then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as his anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in, live in, never depart from him, being rooted in him, knit to him, just as his anointing has taught you to do. So do not trust any minister until you can confirm their teachings. This verse where it says then you have no need that anyone should instruct you means that no man or woman should be teaching you. It should be the Holy Spirit in that minister that is teaching you. I should not be teaching you today. I should be asking the Holy Spirit to help me speak the Holy Spirit's teaching to you and pray for us and for other ministers that they may be convicted to spend more time with the Lord, to seek the Lord and his voice and his direction and a relationship with the Holy Spirit to be able to always be cognizant of the need to have the Holy Spirit teach the congregation, to teach the flock. So do not trust any minister until you can confirm their teachings by reading the Bible yourself and asking the Holy Spirit to show you the truth, to guide you in everyday life. This goes to the core need for us to have a relationship with Jesus. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes through the Father except by through me. So if we are not following him and if we are not following and believing the word, which Jesus is, then we are not following the truth. What are we then following? By definition, we are then following a lie that is coming from somewhere else that is not from heaven or your Bible. Or worse, it is scripture that is being taught incorrectly, which is the doctrines of devils that the apostle Paul writes to Timothy about in 1st Timothy chapter 4 verse 1. It says, but the Holy Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach. Number three, God has blessed us. He has not cursed us. In Psalm 103 verse 10, it says, he has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. He has rewarded his son Jesus with the punishment for our sins. He has not put that punishment upon us. Praise God. Hallelujah. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 3, it says, may blessing, praise, laudation and eulogy be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual given by the Holy Spirit blessing in the heavenly realm. You see here in Ephesians chapter 1 verse 3, the believer is getting blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm. We're not getting cursed in the heavenly realm. And we see in the story of Balaam and Balak in Numbers chapter 23 verses 1 to 12, verse 1, and Balaam said to Balak, build me here seven altars and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams. And Balak did as Balaam had spoken and Balak and Balaam offered on each altar a bull and a ram. Verse 3, and Balaam said to Balak, stand by your burnt offering and I will go. Perhaps the Lord will come to me and whatever he shows me I will tell you. And he went to a bare height. Verse 4, God met Balaam who said to him, I have prepared seven altars and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram. And the Lord put a in Balaam's mouth and said, return to Balak and thus shall you speak. Verse 6, Balaam returned to Balak who was standing by his burnt sacrifice, he and all the princes of Moab. Verse 7, Balaam took up his figurative speech and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram out of the mountains of the east saying, come curse Jacob for me and come violently denounce Israel. Now here's a key verse you need to remember. Verse 8 in Numbers chapter 23. Verse 8, how can I curse those God has not cursed? Or how can I violently denounce those the Lord has not denounced? Verse 9, for from the top of the rocks I see Israel and from the hills I behold him, behold the people of Israel shall dwell alone and shall not be reckoned and esteemed among the nations. Verse 10, who can count the dust the descendants of Jacob and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, those who are upright and in right standing with God and let my last end be like theirs. And Balak said to Balaam, what have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies and here you have thoroughly blessed them instead. And Balaam answered, must I not be obedient and speak what the Lord has put in my mouth? So you see from this chapter that God has said that we cannot curse those who God has not cursed. Number four, this talks about the flaw in the idea of having to go back and find the sin an ancestor committed. So the people who espouse the generational curse idea or doctrine of devils, the people that teach that, try to tell people you need to go back to your grandparents and somewhere in your lineage, find their sin and break it. However, you need to ask yourself, has there ever been a sin that you have committed, even that you commit on a regular basis, that nobody around you knows about? You see, it is rare for someone to confess their sin to another. They keep it to themselves. So could it be possible that when these generational curse experts tell you to go back into your family history, that your ancestors might have had some hidden sins too and never told you about them? If that's the case, you can never get free by breaking them. The general idea behind a generational curse is that people are trapped in sin and or some type of bondage to sickness or disease or poverty or something like this that comes upon them because of something their ancestor did. This should have nothing to do with Christianity because if this was true, Paul was a liar. All things are not new, old things are not passed away, and everything in you is not of God because it's half God and half the devil. Well, we know that's not true. 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 in the Amplified Classic Version says, therefore, if any person is engrafted in Christ the Messiah, which is what we talked about at the beginning of the program, this is a teaching for those who are believers in Christ, born again followers of Jesus. So all you have to do if you are not yet following Jesus, give yourself to the Lord today. Out of your heart, if you believe God raised Jesus from the dead and you confess Jesus as your Lord, the Bible says in Romans chapter 10 verse 9, you are saved. That is where you become a new creation, which is where this verse comes into play for you now as a follower of Jesus. 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 says, therefore, if any person is engrafted in Christ the Messiah, he is a new creation, a new creature altogether. The old previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come. But all things are from God, who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to himself, received us into favor, brought us into harmony with himself, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation, that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with him. So right there, this should tell us that there is a problem in that teaching, that doctrine of devils, of generational curses, that we have to go back and figure out who in our family and in our genealogy sinned in order to break it. One of the first signs of the problem with this doctrine is that Jesus never did it himself, yet he got everybody free that came to him for healing. All the people he ever healed, he never said, well, let's break the generational curse first. The minister that's speaking to you never really brings out this fact because they are trying to be a doctor or psychiatrist and bring the world into the church and practice it, and all it does is it causes the poor soul to go deeper into bondage, and the person starts to think, maybe I didn't do enough, I didn't find this, I couldn't find that, I couldn't break it because I couldn't find the problem in my ancestry. But here's the thing, Christians should not be fearful. We are set free by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. The Lord did not clean you up and set you free just to leave you cursed. In Luke chapter 10 verse 19, Jesus is saying to his disciples, behold, I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions and physical and mental strength and ability over all the power that the enemy, that would be Satan and the demons, possesses, and nothing shall in any way harm you. If something is harming you today, stop the action and go deeper in the relationship with Jesus. Repent of your sin, turn back to the Lord, nothing shall in any way harm you. You will go back under the shadow of the Almighty. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. So, if something's harming you today, stop practicing that sin, stop doubting, stop being anxious, trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path. Number five, it's all down to what you believe. So, the born again believer is brand new in Christ. Any problems you still have is because what you believe and what you might still be doing. The devil has influence in the carnal part of your mind and we can go from a mind of carnality to a Christ-like mind by reading, believing, and then doing the Lord's Word as it says in Romans chapter 12 verse 2. Let us all be transformed by the renewing of our mind and no longer being conformed to this world. Amen? Number six, Jesus bore the curse for us. In Galatians chapter 3 verse 13 it says, Christ purchased our freedom, redeeming us from the curse, doom of the law, and its condemnation by himself becoming a curse for us. For it is written in the scriptures, cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree is crucified. So, Jesus bore this curse for the believer, you and I, so there is no curse left. He took all the curse out of me and you and instead he put all his blessings in me and you. However, this is for nothing unless you believe this truth, accept it, and live it. Out of the abundance of your heart, your mouth speaks. What do you hear yourself saying? Are you saying the words, this will be the death of me, my life is a curse, this is killing me? No, stop saying those things. You need to say, I am blessed and highly favored because he has given unto me every spiritual blessing in heavenly places. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 3. If you are practicing your problem, you are creating a pattern of continuing sin. Problems may have started with ancestors if we chose to act like them, but we have to act like Jesus. You see, we can choose to act like our ancestors, but we're not robots being controlled by some invisible spiritual force. We have a free will to choose whether we want to act like our ancestors. And if we desire to do the things that they used to do, their iniquities, their sins, their wickedness, then we are not born again because those of us who are born again, we hate sin. We want to run from it. Yes, we are tempted every day. It's what we do with the temptation that determines, are you born again? Do you want to be obedient to the Lord by taking that thought captive in obedience to him and saying no to this temptation? Lord, help me steer clear from this temptation to do this sin. I don't want to do it. And get your head back in the word of God. Pray in tongues. Have a brother or sister in Christ pray for you. Share your temptation with them. They will pray for you. And the Lord will strengthen you as you seek him with all your heart. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Never forget his unlimited power to save, to set free, to secure you, to protect you. It's all about your heart and what you want to do in your day and what you want to think about and where your focus is. Number seven, we are told in the word of God to avoid genealogies. So the answer to your problems is not what your ancestors did. Our answer is always Jesus. The apostle Paul speaks against delving into our ancestors and genealogy. First Timothy chapter one verse one to four, Paul an apostle special messenger of Christ Jesus by appointment and command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus the Messiah our hope. To Timothy my true son in the faith, grace, spiritual blessing and favor, mercy and heart, peace be yours from God the Father and our Lord. As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on where you are at Ephesus in order that you may warn and admonish and charge certain individuals not to teach any different doctrine nor to give importance to or occupy themselves with legends, fables, myths and endless genealogies which foster and promote useless speculations and questionings rather than accept in faith of God's administration and the divine training that is in faith in that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence. We also see in Titus chapter three verse nine it says but avoid stupid and foolish controversies and genealogies and dissensions and wrangling about the law for they are unprofitable and futile. So we should steer clear of looking into our ancestry especially when it comes to trying to fix some kind of curse that doesn't exist on us. Number eight the children whose parents and ancestors have committed sin will not pay for their ancestors sin and iniquities. Now you probably know in the old testament that the Lord will visit the children to the third and fourth generation of the parents and the father that sins. Well in Ezekiel chapter 18 which is after that we see that God told Ezekiel to no longer mention the proverb that talks about the children paying for the sins of the father. In verse one the word of the Lord is coming to Ezekiel and Ezekiel is writing the following verses based on what he hears the Lord tell him. Verse one the word of the Lord came to me again verse two what do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel? The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge. Verse three as I live says the Lord God you shall not have occasion anymore to use this proverb in Israel. What was this proverb meaning? It was meaning that the father's wrongs will be suffered by the children that the sins of the fathers will go down to the children of the third and fourth generations and so the Lord is saying you should no longer talk about this you should no longer mention this proverb for as long as I live and the Lord's going to be living forever right. Verse four behold all souls are mine as the soul of the father so also the soul of the son is mine the soul that sins it shall die. So we covered the verses 1 to 20 from Ezekiel 18 in this past series but to summarize the Lord gave examples of a just father and an unjust son and also he gave an example of a unjust father and a just son and verse 20 which we're about to read summarizes what happens in both situations. Ezekiel records in verse 20 what the Lord told him it says the soul that sins it is the one that shall die the son shall not bear and be punished for the iniquity of the father neither shall the father bear and be punished for the iniquity of the son the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him only and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon the wicked only. So here in verse 20 it also shows us that children cannot blame their actions upon their parents they alone the children have free will to make decisions that affect their lives every day. Now we're not talking about babies or extremely young children we're talking about children who have grown up they're becoming teenagers they can't blame their actions upon their parents. Verse 21 but if the wicked man turns from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does that which is lawful and right he shall surely live he shall not die. So not only does the son or daughter not have to worry about bearing the sins or generational curse from their fathers or their ancestors but if you turn around and live righteously you will not even have to bear your own sin. Verse 22 none of his transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him for his righteousness which he has executed for his moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation he shall live. Verse 23 have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked says the lord and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return to his God and live. See the lord does not have any pleasure in anyone dying. Verse 9 God remembers our sins no more so God has decided not to remember the sins of the soul that has entered the new covenant with God through Christ. Hebrews chapter 8 verse 12 says for I will be merciful and gracious toward their sins and I will remember their deeds of unrighteousness no more. And of course even though that passage speaks to the Lord establishing a new covenant with the house of Israel those of us as Gentiles know we have been grafted in to be a part of the new covenant as the apostle Paul speaks about in Romans chapter 10 verse 12 Romans chapter 11 verse 13 and Ephesians chapter 2 verse 16. And number 10 stop sinning. Sinning includes being anxious you say well I'm not drinking I'm not smoking but being anxious is not in faith and what is not of faith is sin the Bible says. So we need to repent of all the wickedness any sin going on and you may say I don't have the ability to stop doing this thing I love it too much. You have a free will to say no you want to change your behavior and the Lord will come to your aid after you make that free will choice and if you seek him with all of your heart and you have a relationship with him he will set you free. So repent by turning 180 degrees from your sinful actions and seek Jesus with all your heart. Stop these actions that you may be blaming on your ancestors based on the ill advice of a minister or someone else who convinced you that you had a generational curse. Seek Jesus with all your heart spend time with him daily in his word in prayer in worship congregate with other believers have them pray for you they're going through temptations just like you and I. Stop thinking that you cannot stop your behavior remember that if you want to be obedient to the Lord stop being disobedient in sin and your carnal thinking be obedient by taking every thought captive and the Lord will set you free by his grace and the blood he shed on the cross when you make a decision to make Jesus your Lord and ask for his strength and grace to keep you from sinning and even if you do sin by accident 1st John chapter 1 verse 9 says that if we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness and we know the Bible also says if we say we do not sin we are liars so therefore when we accidentally slip confess it right away to the Lord get clean again quickly and don't dwell on it digging yourself a hole in a ditch in pity the Lord has work for us to do let's not make it worse by stopping to the wayside for six months wallowing in our pity we cannot pay for our sin Jesus's blood is the only thing that can wash that clean white as snow once more see the temptations will come but it is what you and I do when we get them it is a yes no response and we have to take every thought captive Jesus knows what it's like to be tempted so he understands you and he understands the temptation he hears it and he sees it coming to you when you get it but just because you've been tempted doesn't mean you've sinned the devil tempts us but we haven't sinned until we go through with the idea of the temptation but in the Lord's strength and in him you have overcome the world you have overcome sin and death because he did that for you now live in Christ and live what you are free he came to set the captives free so to end the program I will say this when someone says to you you need to find out what your father and your grandfather did or some ancestor because you may have a generational curse you instead remember what the Lord has said in his word know his heart and realize you don't have a generational curse you cannot have one if you are saved because you are blessed you need to get in the word of God believe what it says and do it and daily renew your mind to the truth by reading the word of God and it will transform you according to Romans chapter 12 verse 2 so I hope this series has been helpful to you it has been helpful to me because we are always learning something new every day amen from the word of God the richness and the sharpness of his word bless be to the name of our Lord Jesus if you would like us to pray for you please go to our website touchofgod.world if you would like to suggest the topic that you would like us to teach on you can also put that in your prayer request as well we'd love to hear from you so until next week you have a blessed week amen
