This week concludes the series. Once we know even a part of how good the Lord is, how much He loves us, is Faithful and Trustworthy, we should conclude that there is no reason for us as believers in Jesus Christ to fear or be anxious about anything. We actually need to repent for being worried because what is not of faith is sin. (Romans 14:23).
This program covers the following Scriptures from the Amplified Classic version (AMPC): Ephesians 1:17-23, Psalm 118:6, Hebrews 13:5, Matthew 6:31-34.
(Transcribed by TurboScribe. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) And a very good day to you, this is Pastor Marc with Touch of God, when we reflect on how good God is. He is so good that I am blessed to be able to sit here today and record this message for you, that I may be able to read God's Word out on these airwaves, that the Lord would allow me to speak His truth and be His vessel in the hopes that you would hear the teaching of the Holy Spirit through me and be delivered from unbelief, delivered from sickness and disease, receive the truth so that it sets you free from any worry, anxiety and bondage. But it is an amazing blessing for the Lord to allow me to be even on these airwaves with you. And my wife Catrice and I very much care for you, each of you, each of the radio station team members and each of you as a listener of this radio station. We thank the Lord for this station, we thank the Lord for this beautiful community and area that this program goes out to. And we pray that the Lord's truth reaches further and further afield in your region for the Word of God to spread and to set the captives free, which is what Jesus came to do, to destroy the works of the enemy and to set the captives free and to show us that the Kingdom of Heaven has come nigh upon us. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 17, it says, For I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. So who is I here? This is the writer of Ephesians, that's the Apostle Paul who was writing to the church at Ephesus. And he says, For I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him. By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light. So this is what I would love to pray over you today and this is what I'm doing right now. I am praying to the Lord just like the Apostle Paul was writing and telling the church at Ephesus that he was praying for them to receive a spirit of wisdom and revelation of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him, Jesus. Verse 18, By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light. So we want to remove any darkness in our hearts. We want to have the light of the Lord Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. And He is the light of the world through us and now we want Him to flood our hearts with His light, with His truth, with His life and with His way. Amen. Why would we not want that? Let the light of the Lord shine upon the every area of our heart that the Holy Spirit would be able to reveal to us. This is what's going on in the shadows in our hearts. Let us repent of our wickedness. Let us give this up. Let us say no to this. Let us say yes to the Lord. Let us turn from our carnal thinking and turn directly to the Lord and understand what He is trying to say in His word and understand the nature of the Lord and His greatness and how good He is. No human word can describe how good God is. We can try to examine just the tip of the iceberg, a tip of the Lord's heart. His heart is immense and His light is immense and He wants us to be set apart for Him and set away from the world. So we are consecrated to Him, set aside for His sanctification, His gift of sanctification of cleansing us of all unrighteousness as we confess our sins to Him. Be renewed by the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus as we read His word and spend time in His holy presence in the secret place. Let's go over verse 17 and 18 again in Ephesians chapter 1. For I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him. So the knowledge of the Lord is both deep and intimate and we pray today that the Lord would grant all of us, each one of you, precious souls, the spirit of wisdom and revelation of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him the Lord. By, verse 18 explains how, it says by having the eyes of your heart. So your heart has eyes. So by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints, His set-apart ones. Verse 19, and so that you can know and understand what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength. So let's pause here and look at verse 19, it says and so that you can know and understand what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe. So those of us who believe in the Lord Jesus, we confess Him as Lord, we believe God raised Him from the dead, we are saved, we are born again, we are a new creation. We now have the absolute blessing of the divine creator of the universe, Father, Son and Holy Spirit indwelling our temple within us. And of course, the Lord is not absent power. With the Lord is greatness of His power and that is in us and for us. And of course, as we lay hands on the sick, it is for the sick as well, amen, because the sick need life to combat the weaknesses and the sicknesses and the small forms of death that's trying to take over their bodies. So we have the immeasurable, unlimited and surpassing greatness of the Lord's power in and for us who believe as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ. So He and Christ, they're two separate people. He is the Father and Christ, of course, is Jesus, which He, the Father, exerted in Christ when He, the Father, raised Him, Jesus, from the dead and seated Him, Jesus, at His, the Father's, own right hand in the heavenly places. Verse 21, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, above every title that can be conferred, not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come. So the writer of Ephesians here, the apostle Paul, is showing us that this power that's resident in us and for us, because we believe, it was demonstrated, this amount of power, which cannot be measured and is so great, was demonstrated in the working of the Father's mighty strength when He exerted it in Jesus, in Christ, when He raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places. And not only did He do that, but He wanted to explain that the position of Christ next to the Father, which means also you and I, if we are in Christ, if we are walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh, Romans 8, verses 1 and 2, we are also seated in Christ next to the Father. And verse 21 tells us where Christ is and therefore where we are in Him. Verse 21 says, Now that would include, of course, being far above any authority, power, dominion of Satan and all the demons and the darkness, where you and I once dwelled with Satan as our Father. But now, if we have given our life to the Lord Jesus and confess Him as Lord and believe God raised Him from the dead and are abiding in Him, we no longer are in that kingdom of darkness. We're in the kingdom of the Lord now. And we were rescued according to Colossians 1, verse 13. The Father rescued us, translated us out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of the Son of His love, which is Jesus. And I would say to you that that was probably the greatest rescue of mankind ever, following the shed blood and the cross of Jesus Christ, the rescue of the Father, because He was now able to rescue us. When we said yes, the Father was able to come through Christ and get us through Christ, out of that darkness and now into the kingdom of the Lord. Notice how the Father never snatched us from the devil, because we have free will. Man has free will that the Lord does not violate. So you can imagine the Lord's heart. He doesn't want a single soul to perish. But yet He cannot swipe us away from the devil and the clutches of evil until and only if we turn and receive Jesus and confess Jesus as our Lord. So it's a great decision to make. And the only right decision is for Jesus and receiving that free gift of eternal life and the rescue from the pits of darkness and the bondage and the sickness and the disease and anxiety, worry, bitterness, betrayal, and all forms of wickedness. Verse 22, And He, that means the Father, has put all things under His, that would be Jesus's, feet and has appointed Him, Jesus, the universal and supreme head of the church, a headship exercised throughout the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Let me pause here. The church is the body of Christ. The church is not a building. It is the Lord's body, because it says in verse 23, which is His body, the fullness of Him, Jesus, who fills all in all. For in that body lives the full measure of Him who makes everything complete and who fills everything everywhere with Himself. You may want to slow down as you are reading this verse later on, because in the Amplified Classic version, it goes into greater detail at the end of this verse. For in that body lives the full measure of Him who makes everything complete and who fills everything everywhere with Himself. Imagine an ocean with no boundaries, trying to fill everywhere, everything with itself, because that's where water always goes, to everywhere where it's not blocked. Now imagine the Spirit of the Lord. Imagine Jesus making everything complete, filling everything everywhere with Himself. And that is what He is endeavoring to do with His body, the body of Christ. You and I, if we are believers, if we are born again, we are confessing Jesus as our Lord. We've made Jesus our Lord in our heart, and what we say out of our mouth is the abundance of our heart, and our heart is for the Lord. It has made a decision for Christ, amen? So now we are part of His body, and His body Jesus is endeavoring to fill. It says that He fills everything everywhere with Himself. The only thing Jesus cannot fill is the carnal part of your mind, because that is still at enmity with God. So that means we need to read the Word of God and update our thinking so that we do not lean on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge the Lord, acknowledge God and He will direct our paths. We need to renew our mind to the Word of God, to no longer be conformed to the world by being transformed, by renewing our mind, by reading the Word, accepting it as truth and doing it and being who we now are based on our understanding of the truth of the Word of God, that we are a new creation, born again, a species that did not exist before. So when you look in the mirror now that you're born again, your spirit inside of your body is not the same one that you had from before you gave your life to Jesus. That was the old man that should now be dead, and do your best to not try to resurrect that old man with old habits, old worries, old anxieties. The Lord doesn't want you to look in the past. He doesn't want you to look too far into the future. Just concern yourself with this next hour, walking with the Lord, talking to Him, seeking Him with all of your heart so that you may find Him. Jeremiah 29 verses 11 to 14. So before we leave Ephesians chapter 1 verse 17 to 23, I really would love for you to make a note of this part of that chapter, verse 17 to 23 in chapter 1 of Ephesians, and pray over yourself every day these verses, because seek the wisdom of the Lord, because we need the wisdom of God to replace our carnal wisdom, how we think things work on this earth. We need to ask the Lord for His divine wisdom, because His divine wisdom opens up the path ahead of you if you are following Him, seeking Him, being slow to make decisions, but being calculated by seeking the Lord for go left or right, yes and no. But these verses here are very powerful because we do all want, or we should want, to have our heart flooded with light so that our hearts would be saturated with the truth of the Word of God, but also so that the darkness may no longer remain, because where the light is, there is no more darkness, and we need the light to remove the darkness in our hearts. And you may think, well, I don't think I have any darkness. The Lord has the best flashlight, the best torch, the best light that can expose things that are not good for us, and the Holy Spirit will reveal that to you. So I encourage you in your relationship with the Lord, and particularly the Holy Spirit, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal things that you may not have even thought about, that you need to confess to the Lord that He may help you overcome that, or say no to that, or just confess your sin in an area, and that now that you may be set free. 1 John 1 verse 9 tells us that if we confess our sins, He the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. So we need to be cleansed, as we have been talking in previous weeks here, about the cleansing power of the Word of God, by the grace of God. Let our hearts be flooded with this beautiful, pure light and truth of the Lord, every single day. That also will help us be the light of the world to other people. Jesus told us, let your light so shine upon men. How can we shine our light when our heart is partially or fully in darkness? We cannot be a good witness that way. We need to be a good witness for the Lord because He deserves for us to be a good witness and represent Him on this earth, because time is short. The Lord is coming back soon. Two thousand years ago, the Bible says that we were in the last hour. So how many minutes are we down to? How many seconds? Psalm 118 verse 6 says the Lord is on my side, I will not fear. What can man do to me? You see, when you grasp the fact of how good God is, and I was saying earlier, we can't really describe it with words because His goodness is immense. He's trustworthy, He's holy, He's never let us down, no matter how much the devil tries to convince us God has failed us, God has never failed us. The devil and our free will, making the wrong decisions based on our own understanding, and then we blame God for putting us in that situation. But the Lord in His mercy and grace, Romans chapter 8 verse 28 says that He works all things together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. So, if you love the Lord, know that He is working all things together for good, but don't blame Him for the things that are not good, that have happened to you in your life. He was there empathizing with you in your situation for something you chose to do or something the devil did upon you, and the Lord was there waiting for you to turn to Him to seek Him and to trust in Him. We can't express to others who don't know the Lord, the Lord's will, without knowing the Word of God and knowing His nature ourselves, because you cannot read from a piece of paper how good God is in a very effective way to someone who doesn't know the Lord. You have to speak it from your heart. Yes, you can back it up with Scripture. It's much more convincing to someone who's lost in front of you if you just speak from the heart how good God is, because your heart is going to eloquently and very expressively show through body language and other means, the words coming out, they will be fruit for the ears of the lost, and they will see your mannerisms, and they will begin to understand that you really are passionate about this Jesus that they keep hearing about. You see, this is your testimony that you would be speaking about, and what God has done for you and just His great nature. People do have misgivings about the Lord, and that's until they get to understand His good nature, that He's not evil, that we have an enemy. But now our minds need to be updated and renewed to the truth of the Word of God so that we are set free from the wrong thinking, set free from the misunderstandings. Hebrews chapter 13, verse 5, we ended with it last week. It says, Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money, including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions, and be satisfied with your present circumstances and with what you have. For He, God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you, nor give you up, nor leave you without support. I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake, nor let you down, relax my hold on you, assuredly not. Now remember how many times the Lord's repeating Himself here. He's never going to in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake you. And we know that other verse that says that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. This is a great verse here in the Amplified Classic to get to the detail and the passion of the Lord's heart towards you and I. Hebrews chapter 13, verse 5 in the Amplified Classic Version. I strongly encourage you again to read this verse and keep it in your purse or on the wall or in your phone or in your wallet or something and take it with you. Put it as a sticker somewhere where you see it when you wake up every morning or go to sleep every night so that you know the Lord is with you. Just make sure you're with Him. Because when we draw nigh unto the Lord, He draws nigh unto us. So we have to go to Him first for Him to come to us. And we also know from John chapter 15 that Jesus talks about abiding in Him and He will abide in us and that we need to remain in Him. We are the branch and He's the vine and we need to bear fruit. We need to be obedient to the Lord and we need to have a relationship, a connection from this branch that we are to the vine which is Christ and the Father is the vinedresser throwing away the dead branches that are not bearing fruit. Let us be warned of that. And let's finish off here, Matthew chapter 6 verse 31 to 34, So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Now the Lord didn't say that you would have worries and anxieties of your own. Tomorrow itself will have worries and anxieties of its own. Let tomorrow keep its worries and anxieties. Let you and I not be in worries and anxieties because we have a God that is for us and not against us. The end of verse 34 says sufficient for each day is its own trouble. So if you have some worries, write them down, confess them to the Lord and ask the Lord to forgive you of worrying. We are told in the Bible to be anxious for nothing. Jesus says here in Matthew chapter 6, do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow. If we worry, then we might as well be Gentiles that don't even know the Lord. Because it's expected of Gentiles to worry because they don't know Jesus and they don't know that they can lean on Him and trust in Him and adhere to Him and for Him to help them through their worries. We are supposed to be a different species now, amen? We've been born again a new creation and now we are renewing our mind, amen, to the Word of God. So we should not be worrying anymore because for the last several weeks we've been talking about how good God is and where is this worry still coming from? Because we think something bad is going to happen and the Lord's not going to deliver us from it. But how many times do you worry about something and then it never comes to pass? That's the grace of God that it never came to pass. But maybe it was never meant to come to pass. But you were worrying and wasting hours and days of your life, maybe even weeks, months and years like me before. I used to worry every day for years and years before I knew the Lord about what will happen tomorrow. I was scared. I didn't know the Lord. And it was almost a safety area for me to worry allowed me to not be shocked by something bad because I was always in a state of anxiety. It was almost like a satanic deception that I would be okay as long as I worried. But wow, what a waste of life being in worry and not in peace and not in joy. The devil tries to steal years of our life but the Lord all along has been faithful. So let us be a witness to the lost and let us show them that we are not worried because we have one Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit that care deeply for us and that we are under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91. We are abiding in Christ and Christ is in us, the hope of glory. So discard the worries, give them to Jesus and you can trust in Him. He's never failed you. You just have to grasp the fact that it was never His fault. Those other things that happened to you earlier in life, it was never His fault. And once you understand the goodness of God and that He would never fail you, He says, I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake you nor let you down, relax my hold on you assuredly not, Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5. Then you can have peace and trust in Him. That is all the time we have for today.
