In the first nights of Ramadan, mosques across Nigeria overflow with worshipers.

Prayer rows stretch beyond the doors, and the atmosphere feels spiritually alive.

But as the fasting days increase, something changes.

The crowds begin to reduce.

By the second and third week, many mosques that were once packed are now half-filled.
