Ashley:

what's up? I'm Ashley.

Garret:

And this is Garrett.

Aaron:

Uh, Hello friends. My name's Aaron. And you're listening to this stall chick.

Ashley:

Hey, nostalgic friends. What are we talking about today? I'll be sure. Yes, the life and life of Polish. The

Aaron:

life in life.

Garret:

He's not dead yet. So

Ashley:

I did question it for a minute, because you haven't seen in a while, but how crazy was it that, that video posted the day that we had, like, I seriously thought it was a mix-up

Garret:

I feel like we should either get lottery numbers. We should predict the future. maybe you are the next.

Aaron:

that's going to be on our commercials episode.

Ashley:

I have a thing with that. As every time I try to do a Jamaican accent, I sound Irish. I don't know It's a good Irish accent, but it's not supposed to be. So if you don't know who Pauly shore is, he, I can't tell you how many things I was rewatching and didn't realize I was even quoting that were his,

Garret:

he was everywhere for a specific period of time. He was on MTV. He had his own show. and that's where you got to know him before he became famous in the movies was MTV. And that was our generation you pick up a stone and look under it and you would see poly show are there

Aaron:

he was just different though. Like we talked about earlier, He was from California, but he wasn't the blonde haired surfer type. he was very flamboyant he wore pink scarves and purple bandanas,

Ashley:

you know, the ladies, I'm the first time I remember seeing Pauly shore. when he was a VJ and he was in a hot tub with just a bunch of women. And I just remember being like, who is this guy? And for people who don't even know, a VJ is on MTV, when they used to have only music videos, they would have someone introduce the videos in between and having little skits. And I remember him doing a lot of spring break stuff partying

Aaron:

yeah, I'm going to go over a little bit of that.

Ashley:

But before we do get into Polish orcas, we're going to tell you all about his background and what he's up to now We can do some nostalgic news,

Aaron:

nostalgic news. What is happening in lions and me make a hook for that, That's the one

Ashley:

So the news that I have the only serious and I'm air quoting here, because it's kind of funny actually. Is that austin St. John who played the red ranger, who I wouldn't really think. I know until I saw a picture of him and I'm like, oh yeah, I definitely know this guy. Yeah. He got arrested because he, was trying to do fraud for COVID, for$3.5 million.

Garret:

Rita road Paulsa like need all that money, be like a villain the entire

Ashley:

time. Yeah. Who knew he was working for the wrong side? he was in McKinney, Texas, which isn't that far from here. he got taken out in handcuffs, like full FBI. Tactical gear went in, took him out

Garret:

I bet you wish you had that red suit handy It's more I'm the red ranger bitch.

Ashley:

that would be so funny if he came out in his gear, also one thing I learned when reading this story I don't think I knew this other ranger. I did watch power Rangers, even though I I was a little too old for it. and I knew like the green ranger who was Tommy, who was the cute one that came later. But there was one who came, in 2017, Ricardo Medina who started empowering just wild force. I don't know what that is, but I found out he pleaded guilty to killing his roommate with a sword.

Garret:

Yes, I remember that.

Ashley:

Yeah. So that was another,

Aaron:

I don't want to incriminate myself or anything, but yeah,

Garret:

no, I remember hearing that happened. I was like, what are they putting in these Rangers waters?

Aaron:

whole episode on the power Rangers though, the original. And then they came out in like space force, ninja fours, karate force. I

Ashley:

also didn't one of the girl Rangers die, or am I making that up?

Garret:

Trini, the yellow ranger, the yellow. I mean, don't quote me on this. I want to say either she was sick or it was a car accident.

Ashley:

kind of a big

Garret:

I think maybe one of the Rangers.

Aaron:

No, I'm sad. I just found that attorney was dead,

Ashley:

Sorry about it. And if you are also finding about it, I'm sorry. Nostalgic needs.

Garret:

Yeah, so in some, non scandalous news, they're releasing, the trailer for Willow the new SQL series to the movie that came out. 87, 88 when I was young, and that series is going to come out soon. And then another cool one, I just learned about is a league of their own, is having a series on Amazon. I love it. that entire movie, I watched that I don't even know how many times

Aaron:

it is such a good one.

Ashley:

I just think Tom Hanks and Gina Davis, And we actually talked about the other day, Dustin was, trying to get me to join a softball league, and I was like, nah, I don't really know if I want to get back into it. And he's like, you'd have to wear a daughter uniform. And I was like, may do that during the skirt,

Aaron:

That's the song that Marla who's things I'm excited for those to come out. that's gonna be awesome. All right. We're going to go over some birthdays, people 80 to 90, that you would probably know. The first one that kind of stuck out to me was Janet Jackson was born on May 16th, 1966. That would make her.

Ashley:

math is hard. I know

Aaron:

she's 50 66. Okay. Still though Dan Jackson, 56. Danny Trejo, if he's always the tattooed Mexican villain and all the movies, machete yeah. You'll know if you saw him. He was 1944. Oh, dang. he's so cool.

Ashley:

He, is a big animal advocate. So I'm all about him.

Aaron:

Yeah. bill Paxton was born this month, 1955. Megan Fox, 1986. Biggie would have been, he would have been 50 this year, Dan, born in 72 years. God in 90. like

Ashley:

twenties.

Aaron:

Share was born this month in 1946.

Ashley:

Deandre is older than Cher.

Aaron:

but he looks like it

Ashley:

though. she has been touched by an angel.

Garret:

Oh, she is ageless. You can see it a little bit of a difference, but I don't know what Socratic is. She sleeps in, but like it works

Aaron:

children's blood or whatever.

Garret:

Give me some of that. let's see.

Aaron:

X would have been 97 this year. Jeffrey Dahmer would have been 62 if he was still alive. Oh,

Garret:

gosh, man.

Ashley:

Yeah. Why don't we end with that one?

Aaron:

Okay. some notable deaths that have happened recently, obviously we had to start with, Ray Liotta passed away at the age of 67. He's been in some epic movies. was looking into some of the lists and there was some, I forgot he was even in, I guess that'd be the way it goes though.

Garret:

Yes, I would happily done in my sleep, but like at the same

Ashley:

time, did he have a headache? Right? It's just

Garret:

another Bob

Aaron:

antics commercial recently. Maybe it has something to do with that.

Ashley:

Is that, oh, it's

Garret:

Chantix.

Aaron:

it shouldn't be, if it's not,

Ashley:

I think they play that a lot on my, HD channel. I'm like who the explicative is watching, a and D all the time because it's all depression commercials and drug commercials. that doesn't feel like my age group when I'm starting to wonder.

Aaron:

Yeah. That's just like the, daytime TV is all like injury lawyers and, or the

Ashley:

one where they have the adult, they pee. When they laugh, diapers, how it always cracks me up. they're like sexy. Women's diapers.

Garret:

sexy women diapers.

Ashley:

I dare you to Google it. because I did. And you know, I came up. Trust me. It's a thing.

Garret:

Never ever would

Ashley:

Etsy stores that are sexy. Women's diapers I got down a rabbit hole.

Garret:

I just, I can't imagine like gang camp. What are you wearing?

Ashley:

with the garters.

Aaron:

oh no, no, no, no, no. Okay. So another notable death was Andy Fletcher from Depeche mode.

Ashley:

we're had taken a moment of

Aaron:

silence What's the song.

Garret:

Enjoy the silence.

Aaron:

I thought you were going to bust that out.

Ashley:

But that's the whole thing is I've heard Depeche mode songs, but I don't know what they are

Garret:

You definitely know who is. oh man. Now that you put me on the spot.

Ashley:

Reach out

Aaron:

and touch phase three.

Garret:

They had a ton of hits. but like for somebody that was in, when we grew up to see him pass away, I was just like, that's

Ashley:

kind of sad. I mean, it's 60, right? It

Aaron:

is.

Garret:

it kind of dates you

Ashley:

and then 20 years from now that doesn't

Aaron:

work. I didn't think I was going to make it this far. So I'm kind of on man. I don't want it 40.

Ashley:

Oh

Aaron:

Have you ever seen somebody like, damn you look old And you're like, holy shit. I went to high school with like,

Garret:

definitely seen some of them where I'm like, Ooh, Mary crystal meth, man.

Ashley:

So you have rose-tinted glasses though. are they looking at our pictures? They're like, oh,

Aaron:

I don't know, I have people tell me I don't look 40 quite a bit. when I tell them I have a 17 year old son, like really. Especially

Garret:

now that you've shaved. So Erin had this long beard and then we got on the other day and we were like, what the hell happened to you?

Ashley:

Like

Aaron:

Garrett said, you need to fix that right now. Yeah. But it's growing back. It's getting there. um, one final one I'm not too familiar with very much of her work, but I know she was a legend, in the country music, uh, Naomi. Passed away at 76,

Ashley:

hers was mental illness and that's what makes it heartbreaking. Yeah.

Aaron:

Really does. I always tell Patrick, you see these famous people, like the Kardashians and Kanye and all that, I would not want their problems. they have everything, but can you imagine the crap that they had to do to maintain that?

Ashley:

it's always being on I I'm with you. I know this is gonna sound like we could play some violin music, but all of that does not bring happiness. I actually was watching and maybe we'll do a show on a Monday with the Robin Williams documentary the other day. And Robin Williams is one that just broke my heart. it's the same thing. You look at this guy and he's always on, he's got all these movies, nothing but successes and, he committed suicide. there's a darkness there. I don't know. But, you know, it was really cool about that. Not to come from the depressing but did you know he was really good friends with, I don't know his last name, but Bobcat from the eighties,

Aaron:

Bobcat is hilarious I've heard him on like the Bob and Tom show

Ashley:

and Howard stern, like that crazy voice all the time. That

Aaron:

was no, no, no. That's, that's obviously, so I think

Ashley:

that's why I didn't recognize him at first. and then I realized that he hasn't gone away, he's actually been very active still in Hollywood. He just behind the scenes.

Aaron:

I've heard some people that have worked for him that he's directed and produced and they said he's cool. Like one day they were producing a movie and nothing was going right. Everybody's in a bad mood. was in California. And he had dump trucks, full of snow delivered out in the parking lot and have like a snow day

Ashley:

really enjoyed him resurfacing. I was like, oh,

Aaron:

All right, let's get into it. Pauly shore, his real name is Paul Montgomery shore. He was born in Beverly Hills to Sammy and Mitzi shore. Holly's dad was Sammy shore he was a comedian and a single. he had a pretty long career and he was actually older when they had poly he eventually ended up touring with Elvis and Priscilla and opening for them. That's how he ended his career. Wow, that's cool. Polly's mother was Mitzi shore and that's the name that really sounded familiar to me when I heard it. she was the owner of the comedy store, which was one of the most influential comedy clubs of the west coast, back in the seventies and eighties. It's still open now. The list of people that, performed there, is just crazy.

Ashley:

when you say west coast, where was it?

Aaron:

the original club was opened on sunset strip in west Hollywood. Sammy shore actually was the one that opened the club, him and another person in the, comedy industry. originally it was a 99 seat venue it was pretty popular. but then the divorce came so Sammy and Missy ended up getting divorced and Missy took full ownership of the club. yeah, get it, girl.

Ashley:

you had to have given it up too. one of the interviews I saw with Paulie, he said that she was running the show. he wanted to be on stage. He didn't want to be, doing the books So I think it might've just been the right move,

Aaron:

From what I saw, it was the keep alimony down, she got the club when she took over the club, her first order of business was she completely renovated the whole thing. she took it from a 99 seat venue to a 450 seat, main room with two smaller, more intimate clubs for higher names, with less people and this became the stepping stone for a young comedians, some of the acts where, Sam Kennison, Richard Pryor, Cheech and Chong started there, Jay Leno, David Letterman. And then, even more recently, Kevin Hart, bill bird, Holly, I mean, he got to watch the legends of comedy, in their finest And they actually started mentoring him and almost babysitting him when they weren't performing. he ended up getting really close with Richard Pryor and Sam Kinison. they took him under their wing and, he knew early on that comedy was really the way he wanted to go. I watched a lot of interviews with Polly about growing up And I got mixed reviews. He said, there's a lot of positive stuff because he was getting to see all this great comedy and learn because he started doing one man shows early on you know, so he could kind of run as a material by these comedians. he also said there was some negative, to it. one of his quotes was, He said, have you ever seen the YouTube video where the baby's crawling across the highway? And for some miraculous reason he doesn't get ran over. He was like, best like me and growing up in the comedy club, he said, my dad was on the road, explicative, Elvis roadies. And my mom was smoking pot with Richard Pryor. Neither of them were nowhere to be found. So, um, some other kind of funny stories he had about growing up in, west Hollywood and Beverly Hills was, when he played little league baseball, he would have a lot of famous kids on his team. he would look up and see like Bob Dylan in the crowd, because his son was on his team

Ashley:

That's gotta be really, that'd be

Aaron:

kinda

Garret:

cool.

Aaron:

he also said west Hollywood was like the Mecca for the gay community In Los Angeles. And he he was part of a, boy scout troop and his boy scout leader was gay. And he said, we had the most stylist, true. Like you would have,

Ashley:

because that is his style, very androgynous.

Garret:

I think that the way he dressed, he influenced that style even more he was everywhere for that period of time. And, you saw the long hair, you saw the perm, and the headbands and everything. he was part of getting that out to wider audience.

Aaron:

Yeah. Right, so he was set on comedy. When they were handing out SATs applications, he said, all of his friends were taking them and he handed his back and was like, I know what I'm going to do. I'm not even going to take this test. it said that he attended Beverly Hills high school. I can't confirm whether he graduated or not. Beverly Hills high school, Angelina Jolie, Nicholas cage, Carrie Fisher, Betty White. the list that goes on on people that graduated from that's cool. He said Angelina was a freshman when he was a senior. there's some pretty vulgar comedy about that. but I won't go into that. like I said, I can't confirm whether he graduated or not, but at 17 he started, really pursuing his comedy career and he actually made his LA debut at the alley cat Veestro in Culver city. he wanted to perform at the comedy store, which his mom owned, but she wanted him to go somewhere else and be successful and, earn it on his own instead of just

Ashley:

giving him a spot. That's

Garret:

smart. That's good on.

Aaron:

in his comedy, when his alter ego, the weasel started coming out. yeah, the weasel was, I don't know. How can you describe the weasel? Bohemian

Garret:

Philippi.

Aaron:

so he came out with a couple of solo albums. and then he did an HBO special his big break really came when he was hired, as a VJ on MTV, like we've talked about earlier.

Garret:

Wait, so he did an HBO special before the VJ on MTV.

Aaron:

what I was tracking was is HBO special was in 88. and they got hired by MTV in 89

Garret:

Wow, I would think that you would have to be. Pretty good. Or at least have some sort of following for HBO to pick you up and give you some sort of special,

Ashley:

Yeah. I knew his first show was at 17, but I thought it was like 17 VJ. Then all of the other things came.

Aaron:

Yeah. so once he was hired as the VJ, he was an instant success. He was different. flamboyant, he had a style of his own. He just brought an energy that, the hardcore long hair rock musicians, they just really embraced what he was trying to do. and he ended up with, his own show, totally poly. where he would go around from city to city showing the party scene. And he would usually have celebrities with them by saying Kennison. Mr. T So he would do like pranks and skits and also show videos, introducing new and popular videos

Ashley:

when you said that. it's another thing. I just didn't think about how influential he was, I was thinking like, women think he's sexy. He's got the gay community. Now he has like the hardcore rock community, he's touched everything cause he didn't have a rock and roll lifestyle,

Garret:

you look at some of these old videos of him he was just full throttle.

Ashley:

Yeah.,

Aaron:

that's all I really have as far as his early career his VJ stuff led to his movie career, which, Garris getting ready to rock out.

Ashley:

Yeah. He did have a really good slew of movies, in a row. He really wrote that way.

Garret:

for a period. Especially since a lot of his characters were very, similar.

Ashley:

Um, yeah. It's the, so the army and in the jury?

Garret:

I did find that he had very minor roles in for keeps, I think that's the one with Molly Ringwald where she gets pregnant. he had a small role in that 18 again, which is with George Burns, do you remember George Burns?

Ashley:

He like really

Garret:

old. Maybe

Aaron:

about him being God, is that you guys?

Garret:

Yes. I know what you're talking. Yes, God. he always had that cigar, I think he died maybe 88 So he wasn't around in our lifetime very

Aaron:

long, but so he was like 110.

Garret:

So he looked like he was gone and created everything. so, he had monitor rolls in rock and read, lost angels, married with children. So weird movie called Phantom of the ball. Eric's revenge, which I kinda wanted the research, but then stopped myself before I went down that rabbit hole, wedding band and class, and the class act was the kid play movie. Oh yeah. I remember that one thing that I did find out that I thought was really cool and it goes back to what you're talking about when he was a part or not a part of the gay community, but that was around him. They did this movie called timeout. The truth about HIV aids in you in 1992. it was magic Johnson and Arsenio hall. And they were trying to educate people, especially teenagers, around that time about aids and HIV. And he was in there and it may have been something he had done on totally Pauly and incorporated that, but he was asking people about the virus and if they knew, what it was and how it was transmitted, I just thought that was really cool. we're talking 30 years ago now and it was such an epidemic, people were dying and for celebrities to put their voice in and teach people is just awesome. the fact that he was a part of that, it hit close to my heart I good friend Albert, he passed away of aids and, for my community, the LGBTQ plus community. it's a nice message that somebody in his position was able to do that. cool. kudos on him. that's really awesome.

Ashley:

there's not much serious stuff he did. So that's really outside of his, norm must have been pretty important to him,

Garret:

oh yeah. So really enjoyed learning that, about him. so let's get into his career. his first big movie was Encino man. this came out in 1992. He had a budget of 7 million and it grows 40.7 million. No. which is kinda crazy. so if you haven't seen the movie, Sean Austin is, one of the main characters whose name is Dave? Yes. If you, if you don't know who that is or, uh, or wait, what was he in the, Goonies, Michael Walsh. Yeah,

Ashley:

Mikey, Mikey, Mike

Garret:

as soon as you said Mikey, it was like a light bulb, but when you said Michael, I was like,

Ashley:

More recently he was a, went on a riders man and stranger

Garret:

things. Oh yeah, You're right. So that was a main character Pauly shore played the best friend. And, they find this caveman trapped in ice, after an earthquake. Cause they're like digging a pool in their backyard, which is, I guess, something that you did, which is weird.

Aaron:

Brendan Fraser, wasn't he? The

Garret:

caveman. Yeah. they ended up following this ice in their garage and, it crashes open Brendan Frasier steps out and it's fish out of water where they're teaching Brendan Fraser's character link, how to survive in this new era, I watched every single movie that was his, hit years, except for this one. I saw this movie so many times as a kid, so I really felt like I still had a lot of it in my head. it's still a great movie, the funny thing about this is they wrote this part for Pauly shore into the movie. He wasn't in. In the beginning. they did it because they wanted that demographic of teenagers in, early college to watch so they thought let's put them in a lot of his scenes were actually ad-libbed

Aaron:

oh, when you talk, like he does a lot of his ad-lib,

Garret:

he does play the weasel I even think he says that Yeah. he won his first Razzy for worst new star from this film. the film was obviously a big head there was some funny moments. like Pauly shore hates roller coasters. And in one of the scenes he's taken link on this rollercoaster And they're having like a great time. he would finish the scene and he would be like, okay, we got it. Cool. And they'd be like, no, we've got to move the camera. And he'd be like, you sort of a bit, Cause he'd he had to do it so

Ashley:

many times.

Garret:

I thought that was funny. it was a great film. it still has heart. Oh, it had a lot of people in there. So Rose McGowan that was heard of, you another funny thing is Nicholas cage and Jim Carrey were considered for the role of link before they, can you imagine? No, I can. Not oh,

Aaron:

Yeah. I was a picture of a falling out and it was like smokey,

Garret:

Yeah. I was like, Thank goodness that, didn't

Ashley:

I feel like Jim Carrey and Pauly shore would probably be really annoying together. the I think it would be a lot

Garret:

sure. that would be the start of the apocalypse. the world will just implode. It'd be like, all right,

Ashley:

boom.

Garret:

One of the weird things is they made a sequel to Encino, man. It was an ABC, made for TV movie and it bombed so bad that you can't find, it came out in 96.

Ashley:

So we know who was in it. I looked at the people and

Garret:

there's nobody else that I think you would know. his next big hit was son-in-law. this was my favorite, I think Pauly shore did very well when he wasn't the center character when he was the main character, but there was other main characters that he could riff off of or the attention wasn't on him. in this one that he got to shine a bit more because he was the other side character. this is another fish out of water in a way, but it's, it's more growing pains where, this girl, Rebecca, she's leaving South Dakota, she's going to college. It's about her, trying to find out who she is. She meets, Pauly Shore's character Kroll was his name.

Ashley:

it's always amazing. It's like Stoney crawled, bud.

Garret:

In the first draft of this his name was actually snake. they, revised it and, uh, after, but yeah, it definitely fits the character more. So they move her, to California and she hates it at first. she's like, why am I here? And then he's like, you're still in South Dakota. you need to fully immerse yourself here to figure out who you are. You came here for something different. this is the time for you to experience that. She thrust herself fully into California and then loves it. She cuts her hair off, dies. It gets a tattoo, which is funny because the tattoo was already there. the actress, what's her name? Carla, gogi. Now I want to say, who was Becca as she started calling herself, she already had the tattoos, so they just put it in the movie. Nice. So they go back to South Dakota for Thanksgiving. She's like, you have to come. And it's Pauly shore being like, I want to be a farmer. And everyone around there who is conservative, rural is like, who is this guy? And why did you bring him back? it's all about them adjusting and then trying to fit in. And it's just fun. It's fun to see Becca's character and Paulie's character, help each other, it's a feel good romcom it's nice to see the farmers put Pauly shore through

Ashley:

hell. No, not at all. And he's like

Garret:

they do.

Ashley:

And the cast and this one too, is just it's got Um, I do not know his name and I'm hoping one of y'all know it the red haired freckly. Good from like the hammy know, this was his time. he was in a bunch of stuff at that time. he's the little brother. And then we were talking about Becca's boyfriend, he's still back home. She comes back and he doesn't know her anymore, but he was the hot, nineties guy or definitely

Garret:

for him.

Ashley:

He was Brad from teen witch. And what was it? You said Aaron saved by the bell boyfriends. And in this one, he's also with Tiffany, Amber Thiessen again. So they've recognized it. it's a good guest. Also the dad so this is when the dad comes around. obviously they, take poly in, but he was in a bunch of stuff at the time too. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but you know, the guy, if you see him, when you hear the voice,

Garret:

I almost was going to get some of the names for the other characters, but then I was like, oh,

Ashley:

we can't get down

Garret:

too much. but yeah, they both come to terms, Pauly shore grows, Becker grows under herself. It's my favorite Pauly shore movie, hands down. Like I watched it and I just had the happy butterflies. I was like, this is nice.

Ashley:

I like when he re sparks the parents, they're old fashioned, so their beds are separate Paulie hooks the mom up, gives her a little make-over and dad's life. Yeah. I think I like those Lincoln

Garret:

the entire town starts liking him, And so for people who haven't seen the movie, I'm not going to go into everything as foil, whatever,

Ashley:

Yeah. 30 years. You're Good. It's worth a watch.

Garret:

Ashley Judd actually auditioned for the role for Rebecca I really liked who they got to play her though. I like her as an actress. She's,

Ashley:

she's another one of those that I see her and stuff now. And I always have to look her up cause I, I am DB over everything, I couldn't tell you what she's in, but she's been in a,

Garret:

she's been in a bunch she's in something recently on Netflix. Yes. Yes it is. Um, so this movie actually almost never got made new line cinema wanted Pauly for a movie called totally London, however, I battled erupted with Disney and new line because, after Encino, man. contractually Disney had first rights, but it had lapsed So technically he was within his right to go to new lawn and he wanted to, but, the head honcho from Disney at the time was like, no, I want you to do this. Disney ended up buying the story or from new line for 250,000 and then Sheldon, SARS, screw you guys. Yeah.

Ashley:

Yeah. Well, thank God. It really is his best movie.

Garret:

I agree. it was the start of, linking, some of the movies together because Brendan Frasier actually reprises his role, for a cameo he's one of the guys, and he eats a plastic frog and goes away crawl recognized him. He's like, do I? And then he just kind of moves on. that was a fun nod. I remember that. I was watching it, I was like, oh my God, this is so cool.

Ashley:

I do remember that. I don't think I got it real time I think I was like, well, okay.

Garret:

I will say watching this movie as an adult, I'm more appreciative cause I get some of the jokes more, definitely his, Zenith. the other movies that I'm going to talk about, I wasn't as much of a fan the next movie that came out was in 1994, called in the army now. this is when the movie started to go downhill for him. the box office was 29 million, which depending on how much the budget was, could have been, enough to warrant sequels or whatever, but this was the downhill. Andy Dick is in, in the army now with Paula. They play, salesmen at the, electronic store they get fired and they think going to the army reserves to a quick buck is going to help them. they pick water purification as their job and ended up getting called to active duty because award is going on. All the soldiers need what water. not really smart on their part. it was hard to watch. I will admit him sexually talking to his drill Sergeant, just the way he addresses things. I'm like, Aw. And especially you've

Aaron:

been in the you see something like this, you're like, come on. I don't want to be that guy, but also kind of what you were talking about earlier with, Pauly shore and Jim Carey. I think that Andy Dick and Polly shore kind of, I don't think any, Dick's really all that funny, I just feel like it's not a good combination

Garret:

It was an interesting dynamic. I didn't hate Andy Dick in it. I have a hated any Dick and some other things, Um, speaking of a league of their own, Lori. Petty's in this, as well as, David, Alan Grier. during the movie it's just, the premise of everything, they ended up getting lost in the desert it was hard for me to focus on it, so I wasn't crazy about it. I could see why it didn't, do well,

Ashley:

It did not leave an impression on me. I remember seeing it I do remember, like you said tank girl being in it, but

Aaron:

by David oliger said, Hey today. Yeah.

Garret:

it was a second cameo of Brendan Frazier's link. He's definitely the patch on. always love that stuff where it's an old

Aaron:

box.

Garret:

I have some bumbling formation, the next movie, his jury duty this came out in 1995. I had a budget of 21 million and it only grows 17 million, at the box office. I kind of have a love, hate relationship with it because there were some parts I thought were funny but again, he's playing a very similar character in this then in CNO, man,

Ashley:

it's a deadbeat. Who's trying to find his way out of something I mean, you're going to go into it,

Garret:

a hundred percent I actually wrote deadbeat, in there. we're on the same he's living at home with his mom. And suddenly finds himself without a place to live because The mom is getting married in Vegas and he's like, what hotel are you staying at? And they're like, well, we're not saying hotel. We're taking the mobile home. So you don't have anywhere to live while we're gone. And he's like, what am I supposed to do? it just so happens. He's summoned for jury duty at the time. he ends up going, because he's told that they'll put them up in a hotel for free they'll pay for his food and he gets to boot you off the government while the trial goes. and he sabotages all the other trials that are short. So he doesn't get picked for those he finds a murder case and they're like, this is going to be a long, arduous trial. you're going to be sequestered for quite some time. And he's like, I'll take this one. Thanks. he gets on this jury they're in this hotel and they put him in this wing, that's being renovated and it's gross. it's got some characters that you would know. So Tia Carrera plays, the hot girl that's on the jury with him. I cannot think of the guy's name. he's got a mustache and he's an overweight older man. He plays the principal that knows, Paulie from back in the day. he does a lot of cartoon voices too. does he? Yeah, I'm trying to think it

Ashley:

was I'm picturing like a Mr. Feeney,

Garret:

almost like a fatter Mr. Feeney. you would recognize him if you saw him. He's been in a lot of stuff.

Aaron:

he was Noah, the arcade owner, and Wayne's world. You remember him talking about

Ashley:

oh no, I don't. How do I not, I know Wayne's world, up and down,

Garret:

I should've wrote his name down, but I was trying to focus more on

Ashley:

I am de beers. it's almost like I can't focus until I do it. like an OCD of a store.

Aaron:

that's the girl from Wayne's world also, right?

Garret:

Yeah. Abraham who there were some side characters in there,

Ashley:

I definitely recognized there was a younger guy with the mustache bigger nose. he was in a bunch of

Garret:

stuff?

Aaron:

They kind of always look like a crazy guy

Garret:

that might've been the killer.

Ashley:

I do know that guy, that guy looks like he has I remember

Aaron:

him from

Ashley:

Aaron, every time I say it, there was a God milk commercial, and he's eating a thing of peanut butter and he calls the radio station. It's like, oh, you can win a bunch of money. And he keeps trying to say, the answer is Aaron Burr, but he has peanut butter in his mouth and he doesn't have any milk. And so it's like,

Garret:

yeah, because we've met

Aaron:

three

Garret:

or four o'clock I know they just randomly

Ashley:

come out. Okay. So Stanley two G's in there who is, we all know and love,

Garret:

If you just scroll through the cast, there's a bunch of people, so there've been in this like decrepit hotel and he somehow finagles the manager of the hotel to give him the presidential suite and starts living there. he has to crawl up the balcony in order to get there. So it looks like he's going to his room and with everybody else, and he's suffering but really he's living the fancy life. he starts making the trial lasts as long as humanly possible, So, he starts caring about what actually happens to this guy and he started. Doing research. one of the funnier scenes is he ends up going to, the jail dressed in drag and like, it's ugly drag. and so the killers like, oh yeah. He's like, Hey baby.

Ashley:

conjugal

Garret:

visit. Yes. And so he's like, no, no, no, no. I'm juror number six. And he's like, huh. And so he tasted his fake boobs out, which is like an apple and an orange, which is so convincing. And he's like, I like natural, that's fine. And then he lifts up his arm to show his armpit hair. And he's like, I love French. And then he's like, Polly, Charlotte lifts up his junk. so the guy like sees his Wiener and starts running to the door and and the door has that circle glass? And he's banging on it. And he's like, ah, let me out, let me out. And they're like, oh, they are kinky. Like, oh my goodness. He's like, go get it. He's like, dude chill. I'm trying to help you. And so they start talking about the trial after they have this heartfelt. The guy's like, well, you want to like call these shore is like now. it does the same thing. He starts banging on the door and he's like, ah, help me know, the cops are like, they are freaky. the funniest part is as he's banging on the door, whatever the guy's doing, Paul starts playing and he's like, oh, I

Ashley:

was cracking up Yeah.

Garret:

And I think there was in one of the commercials, but like when he arrives to the, jail he turns back to the cops and he's like, say hi to judge. that was the judge for the OJ Simpson trial. So it's kinda dates itself

Ashley:

that I'll have to watch it again.

Garret:

it's not as bad as in the army now. I did find some of it humorous, Like Stanley Tucci, he kind of overacts in some of his dialogue, he's like, this is

Aaron:

the real killer, right?

Garret:

well, yeah, that's a spoiler.

Ashley:

also was he like a germaphobe Yes.

Garret:

the whole thing, was Stanley Tucci is on the jury. And some guy who was trying to get out of jury duty, he takes his spot and ends up being the killer. who's killed all these people because he is a, environmentalist to the nth degree and just hates people who are. killing was planet. And

Ashley:

that's the thing is Paulie, the whole thing about him is he's trying to prolong the trial. So they are like, no, the dude's guilty. And he's the only one that votes that he's not, but he's not doing it because he actually thinks he's in it, then he's doing it because he wants to stay in his presidential suite. And then he ends up believing the guy by going and meeting him, solving the case yeah.

Aaron:

yes. Love interest finds out too, that he's sleeping in the presidential suite, right?

Ashley:

Yeah. Yeah. There's always that right. I

Garret:

really hate that stupid trope of I need to fall in love with the protagonist nobody in their right mind would be like, oh, he's changing. Oh yeah.

Aaron:

got his girl out there and you're the idiot.

Garret:

no way. So Your synopsis was way better than this movie, I would give it one thumbs down, one thumbs up. however you want to take it. those jokes and see him play the same character again.

Ashley:

This is like the third one.

Garret:

and then by, biodome was the last movie I watched this came out in 96. had a budget of 8.5 million and gross 13, 4 million at the box, So it actually makes some money. Oh my God. If I could have pulled my eyes out, slowly I would have this movie was torturing.

Ashley:

I think I really liked this movie, but I'm also thinking when it came out, did you say 96? I probably watched it in high school and it was a little bit of a stoner and it's very stoner humor. she knows.

Garret:

you're right. This was a stoner movie. him and Billy Baldwin The same character that Pauli has played has now been split into two people, can't so stupid. it was like dumb and dumber, but not funny, Billy Baldwin or Steven Baldwin. oh shit, am I getting that role I thought it was Steven. You're right. There's so many ball with that. Yeah. Stephen Baldwin, but they do kind of look alike.

Ashley:

ones. Yeah.

Garret:

And back in the day, Alec could get it like that.

Ashley:

beetle juice, Alec Baldwin. May I tell you what other ones look like? like they clone them, but they were like dumber each time.

Garret:

movie, the copy movie

Aaron:

multiplicity. Multiplicity. Yeah.

Garret:

I love that. So apologies. It's Stephen Baldwin, not Billy Baldwin so in the beginning of the movie, they lose a bit of rock paper scissors with, Stephen losing and Paulie winning. And Paulie takes this book, like a encyclopedia and bashes Steven's character over the head, almost knocking them unconscious. And I'm like, what is going on? And they, And they do this because their girlfriends are environmentalists. obviously there's a fricking pattern, here. I think they're going to pick up trash so they're trying to get out of it. and they figure out their ploy and they're like, you guys suck. And so to get back at them, they say they're going to go with these guys when they're out, pick a trash up. So the guys go, out of their way to find their girlfriends and Steven's character needs a bathroom he can't just go on the side of the road, they have to go into what they think is a mall, which is actually the biodome. they end up in the biodome, And, the scientists are about to go in it the door closes, can open the door for a year and insanity ensues.

Ashley:

I just remember. The scientists are waving and then they like look over and bud Doyle there

Garret:

Yeah. Remember their names. I hated this movie so much.

Ashley:

was a teenager when it came out. this was my genre And I even remember, the girlfriend, the one girlfriend was in a bunch of stuff at the time. Like Mallrats she was the one that had like the raspy voice and almost looks like Renee Zellweger, but

Garret:

not, was, she didn't chasing Amy.

Ashley:

Yeah, she was, she had liked that. Not a smoker's voice, but I'm trying to

Garret:

Yeah.

Aaron:

your breath of George's mom was, I felt

Garret:

last about that for, I don't know.

Ashley:

Um, and just realize that

Aaron:

no, they're both something, but I don't

Ashley:

know. a pie, it takes like 20 minutes. It's rice that you just keep having Mr. tropical fruit.

Garret:

Yeah, the fruit So they're stuck in this biodome and they decide to ruin this biodome by wasting the food, taking the place of par. Yeah.

Ashley:

They don't understand that this is an ecosystem that is sustaining itself. Right. So they're like, we're going to party and we're going to eat all the food, even though we have to make it last

Garret:

I definitely think this, was a movie made for a certain demographic at a certain time with it has aged like milk, not good. so they ended up trashing the place they ended up finding a key, and they get out for a little bit and they throw this huge party there's this ancient computer in there that was fancy at the time that let you know how well the biodome was doing. And. After this party, it gets down to less than 1%.

Ashley:

And it's constantly talking, right?

Garret:

Yeah. Biodome is like, yes, homeostasis. you did watch this movie It's going to be a sing along for you. so their girlfriends find out what they've done and they are pissed. And they're like, we're sorry. And they try to clean up their act and clean up the biodome. the scientists who's heading, this is like, this is a failure and they try shutting it down. and they're like, no, we're going to clean this up. And they get everybody on board. Well, the main scientist egos insane after all their antics and, disappears

Ashley:

The biggest thing you're gonna remember is we can done. So if we want to, we can then go online when they're all saying, button Doyle or riding a cow at one point. I don't remember that.

Garret:

I might have been like, you're like, I'm done. I really was their characters. were so stupid and unfunny characters have to have some likability. Right around the time they were like, okay, we'll, try. I find a smidge, but not enough to save it. So, the end of getting the place back near a hundred percent or a hundred percent, the lead scientist, goes nuts and tries killing everyone with coconut bombs. that's it, they ended up restoring the biodome the girlfriends are happy

Ashley:

got to love that when they ruin something and then get credit for fixing

Garret:

Yeah.

Ashley:

That's ridiculous.

Garret:

I just cringed the entire way. have heard that he maybe wants to make bio don't tell him, I'm like, please don't pick

Ashley:

one of your other. Yeah, I can go ahead and share video that came out the day that we were talking about Pauly shore, confirmed. They are doing, I think 20, 23. they're going to be on Mars.

Aaron:

on Musk is going to be on there. Kali and Manoah was the female doctor and biodome until she

Ashley:

was there. But he ended up dating her after that.

Garret:

No

Ashley:

yes he did. that was in one of his interviews. They were like, how is it? And he said, of course we met on biodome and I was like, wait a minute. Did not know that either

Garret:

so yeah, that's his career. I found some other stuff Jenny McCarthy had a Playboy thing that he was in. in a lot of what I found, he played himself And I believe that was part of his downfall cause he, can act, he has a likeability factor. he has charisma We've seen it but playing that same character over and over, it started his career, but then it doomed it as well.

Ashley:

Yeah. I think it was, he didn't have a lot of diversity, sure. He could act and what he was doing, but I don't know could you see him in a few good men? I don't know. I'm trying to figure out what he could have done with himself. if you would not have hit that pocket the way he did. We wouldn't know abolish or was,

Garret:

it was, maybe had been perfect storm but that one character is like the entire arc, I would have liked to seen him in the role of a killer, just something so different.

Aaron:

I was just gonna say that. Yeah. That's what made it even creepier because yes, you know, misdoubt fire is this creepy,

Garret:

I think that's what he needed. something that was completely a 180 from this character he had used his character so much. And as you saw the box office returns were not good and they just didn't want to take a risk on him again.

Ashley:

I'm just trying to think of, he host his own show or something, but I just don't know if it would get old.

Aaron:

we had a sitcom for a while. Didn't he on Fox

Ashley:

I'm going over that. no. It's a good segue. It's perfect. if we're ready for it. that was the beginning of the end for Pauly shore there was a show called Polly and guess what? He was, he was a guy living at home with his dad and milking off of him. And then the dad gets a trophy wife and the show is pretty much this, them living together, him making sexual remarks about her. they come up, it was bad. the funny thing is, is the movie that he did, Pauly shore is not dead, shows exactly that, he's got all his friends in a room and his sitcoms coming out and everybody's there and they're supporting him and then they all watch it. Are trying not to tell him that is a piece of crap, And I think they filmed seven of them, but I think he got canceled after one. I want to say, they pulled the clog pretty hard. another thing Pauly shore is not dead is also horrible. I don't even know how else to say that. he just called in a bunch of favors. When you see this thing, it's Pamela Anderson, Tommy, John Carson, Daly, Ellen, Andy Dick. Brittany Spears, Jerry Springer He just called every actor he knew and said, can you do a snippet, So Pauly fakes his death, because he thinks that his career is dead and that he'll be more popular, if he dies and, he is, people hate him. And then all of a sudden when he's dead, they're like, oh yeah, I guess he was okay.

Garret:

do they really think he's dead?

Ashley:

it says it's a mockumentary. And I feel like you can tell it's not real interviews. some of these people are rappers, not actors, so they're lying deliveries to walk in, it's bad. And that one came out in oh three, so it's been 20 years, but I feel like it's like his career now, basically. So the main thing about him, if you go on Pauly, shore.com, he still has a lot going on. But the thing that I'm not understanding is I don't know if a lot of it is real or if it's stuff that he wants to happen. in the interview we watched, he said, yes, we are coming out with a biodome too. He also mentioned Encino man too. And then when he was asked about it again, later, someone said, you announced and CNO man too. And he said, yeah, we can make it happen. Y'all just got a tweet. I almost think he's trying to get a movement.

Garret:

Yeah. I did see that he, had some sort of reunion with, Sean Austin and Brendan Frazier. and he was like, yeah, they want to do it. let's make it happen. so I think he's banking on that nostalgia to propel something new

Ashley:

yeah, he's trying to work this as something to say, yes, it is happening. And then people are Googling it and he's like, see people want it, I don't know if it's actually happening. I think he's trying to work some magic. I think they would do it. And I'm not sure,

Aaron:

Brendan frazier probably looking for work Polish or looking for work. But if I was Bob from stranger things, I don't know,

Garret:

Is actually his star is rising again. he's been cast as the villain and the new back girl moving. He gathered a lot of weights. I was like, is that random Frazier? you do, but at the same time, it's like, he ate the other Brendan Frasier. he did that, I guess, for this upcoming movie. I think he's already completed the role, but that's, why he looks that way. So I think he is making a comeback

Aaron:

weird monkey bone, movie,

Ashley:

That was a Tim Burton movie, I think, it's animated.

Aaron:

that was weird. It was weird. The one where he held the wishes. to, Yeah, he was a seven foot NBA player, but he had like a one

Ashley:

mine was when he wants to be the sensitive guy and he's like crying at the sunset and he's like, this is so good.

Garret:

I send that to Gabriel all the time. So Gabriel loves sunsets and he'd like most nature. So I'll send that gift. And he was like, stop sending that to me. well, he's never seen the movie, so he doesn't quite get it,

Ashley:

beautiful? so One of the things about polisher is he was podcasting before podcasting was cool. The problem is he didn't sustain the podcasts. I really think right now if he were to have one, people would listen, but he did it in, it was either 2015 or 2017 and there are maybe 10 episodes and he has a lot of, Comedians on there that you would recognize like Nick cruel. Bob Saget, Gallagher, because he knew Gallagher he had a lot of good guests. but I just think he was before it hit its uptick,, then it says he is currently working on a documentary of his life, but it said this a long time ago, like 2017 or And I kept looking for this documentary and I couldn't find it. it's like, he's had a lot of projects go in, but nothing's really come of them.

Garret:

I do see that. He's on tour.

Ashley:

I was actually going to give you some of them. he's going to be in San Antonio on June 9th he will be in Philadelphia and Las Vegas. he is actively, touring.

Garret:

kind of happy for that? Yeah.

Ashley:

Pinocchio story came out in 2022, he did have mild success in a movie recently, it came out in 2020, it was called guest house. And it's Pauly shore. So he is not living with his parents. However, he lives in the guest house and this couple moves in the houses that are really cheap rate because it comes with him living in the guest house. And then they're like, yeah, we'll just get him out or whatever.

Garret:

he is the main person, again,

Ashley:

I feel like I didn't watch it. I just watched the preview. he's going up against a couple. So I feel like they are going to take some of the weight. it got like, okay. Reviews. Oh yeah. Steve-O I do remember seeing an interview with him and Steve-O, and I'm just trying to figure out why they were together. And now that you say that it makes a lot of sense that they were, Steve-O is like, I am way too sober to be hanging out with this dude. Cause Steve-O can take his jokes

Aaron:

it's like the newest jackass, like when they're all sober, it's just so weird.

Ashley:

Yeah. He's just like, I don't know what to do. And it's poly shores just riffing the whole time. Um So, he has a band. it's called poly shore in the crusties They're just five old dudes. They plan Vegas together and it's basically him singing karaoke he dresses up like the character. So he did, Courtney love a celebrity skin. So he dressed up in like a blonde wig and he's just dancing in their garage. But people are going to see him in Vegas. So he's found a little stick there, um,

Garret:

like

Aaron:

intentionally bad. you know, like we know you're going to come watch it.

Garret:

Like it's, so bad. It kind of goes to good It's not

Ashley:

really, I could, I was like, what is happening right now?

Garret:

some of his albums,

Ashley:

oh, I've watched them on YouTube. I watched some of the live shows. I was like, this can't be it. And then I watched it again and I saw that they are touring and they're posting videos constantly. It is some cute old man. So I do love that he like, has this really old band and that's the crusties. I mean, this is kind of cool.

Aaron:

You remember when Jesse cassava LIS was with the airport ban on full house?

Ashley:

Yes. glow little blue

Aaron:

he got kicked out of the Jessie and the rippers. So he's like, I'm going to form my own band and it was him and the blessed, the oldest of the airport or something like that.

Ashley:

I feel like they were like Hawaiian shirts and that's the only thing I remember Oh, one of the things I have, that's fun Pauly was considered for the role of Leonard and big bang theory. Oh yeah. I can't ever see it. I mean, the comic book store guy maybe, but, the last thing I had was So he had this idea for a film it's called stuck in the hood and he gets, you know, stuck in the ghetto he had this whole concept for it. Like it was coming out who was going to star and then he has an update, like, well, nobody really liked that idea. So it didn't have it. So he has made like a poster for it. He's got a synopsis of who he is and who else is going to be in. He's got Chappelle in there, but it's not a thing. It just says story written by Polly short. it's a concept but it's just, that is his website.

Aaron:

almost like putting these ideas out and seeing if it catches steam,

Garret:

do you think that the one character is all he can do and he used that as much as he could,

Ashley:

yes I do. I do think that this is all that he has and it again, perfect storm. I think he wrote it as far as he could write it, I've asked myself is this him? Or is this a character? And so he actually answered a quote that I have is I was never like Pee-wee Herman, how Paul Rubin is on the left and Peewee is on the right. I was one with the weeds. I really dress like that. I acted like that. Sure. I exaggerated it for the camera, but I would go out like that

Aaron:

I think that pretty much describes it,

Garret:

perfectly when you're a synonymous with your characters and people can't tell the difference. It can get stated.

Ashley:

Yeah. And my next line says however shore was met with increasingly hostile reception and his lunacy was dismissed as crude, tasteless dumb. And for the most part unfunny and his film career quickly tanked. Oh, by the way, Aaron, he will be in Louisville, January 23rd, 23. If you were interested, so that's really all I have on updated stuff. He's touring. We don't know about Encino man. We do no bio dumb too on Mars is coming out and he's still making a circuit

Garret:

I just can't imagine what that movie is going to be. Like. If they play the exact same characters, if I was on Mars, I would take off my suit. I would let myself,

Ashley:

I pictured that. what was the Arnold? Schwartzenegger where their eyes pop out. And they're

Garret:

I

Aaron:

love that movie. I don't care.

Ashley:

What would they say besides it's an amazing movie. I don't understand. These are not my people, and the new one was good too, but man, Three boobs.

Garret:

Do you want to crunch? I'm like, no, sweetie. I just

Ashley:

thanks.

Garret:

oh, so I guess that's it for Pauly shore?

Ashley:

Is there any random trivia?

Aaron:

The only other one that I had was in his prime, he had an assistant that he constantly had to get on because the assistant's grammar was too good. Like when he was responding to emails he wanted his, assistant to respond. Like he would talk

Garret:

can you imagine being Pauly Shore's assistant I would've run full speed into a.

Aaron:

I'm sure there's some awesome stories that are untold.

Ashley:

I don't know. I don't think that there's anything that I would like to be proven wrong. I think if he makes a comeback, I would like to see another side of him. I, haven't given up on Pauly shore. I just thinking like, oh, he's touring with a band. And then watching the band and being like, this is exactly what you would think Bali for his band would be. You know, it's not like Johnny Depp who has a band. Or Jared's Leto, he's still trying to do the stick, but it's 30 years later,

Garret:

Don't get me wrong. All of my comments are pretty much about that persona that he's had. I would love to see him succeed. but He has to show us a completely different side and actually be real and authentic

Ashley:

So I wonder maybe it's a comedy show. I don't know what I did.

Garret:

I wouldn't go, I would go to his comedy show, and just see how it is, to see if he's got something new I would, love to be like, okay, this is an update I think that would be a fun,

Ashley:

tickets for a January

Aaron:

23rd,

Garret:

the Louisville,

Aaron:

and will make a weekend. the last show that I watched the news, like it was not funny. at one time he was like, look, you know, These are the effing jokes. Like if you laugh at them or not, they weren't laughing

Ashley:

so I want to watch the old stuff. I want to see if he ever was actually funny or

Aaron:

perfect storm that time

Ashley:

the perfect opportunity at the perfect time. just be happy with what you had

Aaron:

enjoy

Ashley:

it. Yeah. All right. So, I know we have, updated our Facebook profiles

Aaron:

Garrett has kicked. Some are man. he's killing it,

Ashley:

We've got a lot of new content and we've been Simpson eyes. So if you want to see what we would look like if we were on the symptoms, you have to go to our Facebook page.

Aaron:

Short and stocky

Garret:

I look pretty handsome. I'm like

Ashley:

very dapper and you're taller than me, which is not so

Garret:
