Hiroaki Matsunaga on Deep Japan Ultra
Hiroaki is a NorthFace athlete based in Niigata. He was born in Shizuioka and as a young man he dreamt of being a professional soccer player, it was because he needed to run to stay fit for soccer that he got into running. In addition to being an extremely accomplished ultrarunner in his own right, Aki is also an events and race organiser as well as a podcast host himself. He organises the "Trail Runner's Cup", Mount Awa Skyrace and Deep Japan Ultra. Aki, is also the founder of trailrunners.jp which is an invaluable resourse
In this episode we talk a lot about trail running in Japan, Deep Japan Ultra and his vision in seeing the growth and expansion of local trail running at an international level. We also talk about Transgrancanaria, his run at Ultra Trail Cape Town and MtFuji100.
