EP 185: NO WOMAN, NO CRY
Women have been the topic of conversation since the beginning of time. Literally, since Eve bit that apple in the Garden of Eden, it’s been one thing after another. And here we are in 2024 and women continue to grace the headlines, intentionally and unfortunately.
While some are celebrating the potential of one woman, Vice President Kamala Harris believes ok’ing the first female President, others are mourning the death of Sonya Massey, who was murdered by Sean Grayson, a police officer who was called for help. As we’ve said too many times before, rest in peace to Ms. Massey.
How do we find ourselves in such an oxymoron rollercoaster of emotions? Can we ever have a moment to revel in potential greatness without feeling the weight of the world on our backs simply because of the color of our skin? Or is this just our plight?
Having the opportunity to run for President of the United States of America is a different burden that most women, especially black women, probably never imagined could become a reality. After being Attorney General, Vice President, and now Presidential Candidate, can this dream become one’s reality? Or is this another uphill battle that will be placed on the backs and shoulders of black Americans?
It’s heavy. The mourning. The potential of the unknown. And we let some of it off our shoulders. Check out Episode 185 and join the conversation. Leave a message, give a thumbs up (or down), share and don’t forget to subscribe!
