In Episode 4 of the Music Mind Podcast series my conversation is with one of Australia's most successful bass guitarists Roger McLachlan. In this two part conversation we learn of Roger's beginnings in music in New Zealand.
Born into a musical family Roger rapidly progressed from ukulele to guitar and ultimately to the instrument that he has based his career on, the electric bass guitar.
In Part 1 of the conversation we follow Roger's development from humble beginnings in New Zealand through to moving to Australia and successfully auditioning as the original bass player for the internationally successful super group The Little River Band (LRB).
In Part 2 of the conversation we follow Roger's success through the Melbourne pop group Stars to playing with one of Australia's best ever Jazz/Fusion bands, Pyramid. Roger went on to become a highly in demand session player in Melbourne which included performing on the hit single 'You're The Voice' from the highest selling album ever by an Australian artist, 'Whispering Jack' by John Farnham.
