This episode of The Music Mind Podcast features Emile Nelson, one of Australia's leading electric bass guitar players.

Emile has played bass professionally for almost his entire life. He has built a reputation as one of Australia's top pop, rock and commercial live performance musicians having further toured and recorded with the A list of entertainers. 

For many years, Emile has been the working bass player in Glenn Shorrock's band. Glenn was the former lead singer in the highly successful rock group, The Little River Band.

Emile has also performed with leading Australian and international artists such as Delta Goodrem, The Euroglyders, Marcia Hines, Petula Clarke, Taylor Dayne, Human Nature and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

This conversation covers a wide range of topics including the importance of  learning to play songs, being able to read standard music notation, being versatile, understanding the recording studio environment and taking opportunities when they present themselves.

For the music collaboration on this episode, Emile chose a great jazz standard written by Freddie Hubbard titled 'The Little Sunflower'. The collaboration features Emile on electric bass guitar with Brian Hayes on jazz flute.
