Not Your Heidi
Peter Kalisch
Back in May, Peter Kalisch became a viral internet sensation after his Queers For Palestine message was misappropriated by far-right and anti-LGBTQ+ social-media page Libs of TikTok.
Reducing the artist to his queerness while simultaneously justifying the genocide of Palestinians, over 1.6 million people shared Libs of TikTok’s disdain against Peter, who became the victim of death threats.
As a resilient thinker, Peter turned the viral moment to his advantage, growing a platform where he has been pointing out the hypocrisy of identity politics perpetuated by both The Democratic and The Republican Parties in the US.
Peter, who curates the niche and alternative Queer Space Party in LA, has advocated for a push to break away from political and corporate manipulations, often hiding behind LGBTQ+ Pride.
A painter, a DJ, and a musician who created the band MMDA000 with his friend Aaron, Peter uses his meme-esque Instagram page to point out deception and expose uncomfortable truths.
In this third episode of NYH, Peter discusses his views on the 2024 US election, his past growing up in a religious environment, his motivation to stand up against discrimination, and much more. (including “vintage homophobia”!)
