Proverbs 13:12, says a hope deferred makes the heart sick. The way I interpret this scripture is anything that you have hoped for, for a period of time whether that is a relationship, a friendship, a female bond, a motherly bond, a fatherly influence, an individual will subconsciously seek to fulfill or gain at some point in their lives.  When we miss out on things in our early childhood or feel a deprivation of some sort, often we will seek the very things that were missing in our childhood in our adult relationships. Because that hope, that longing was deferred and that made our heart sick and we’re looking to fulfill the heart or longing. Often times when we don’t reconcile and heal those past pains we re-create the same traumas from our childhood in our adult lives. The only way to heal the sick heart is to process the emotions, and woundings of our past. Not by suppression because often times suppression creates resentment and regression. But by sitting and processing the emotions and experiences until you have found peace and cultivated a new level of thinking.
