What's Happening in UK Property Auctions?
Mar 14, 2024 Season 5 Episode 146
The Expat Property Guy

#146

Is now a good time to buy UK property? Do you wish you had a crystal ball to see six months into the future? How will the housing market look in the second half of 2024?

When analysts comment on the state of the market, they look to house price indexes from the The UK House Price or Nationwide or Halifax as they try to predict future trends.

But these indexes have a time lag given that the the length of time it takes on the open market for a home to go from 'sold subject to contract' to legally sold can vary between six weeks and six months.

By contrast, it’s often said that what happens in the auctions is a barometer for what happens in the wider market six months later. So with that in mind, this week, Andy Thompson from auctioneer Pugh Auctions UK is here to tell us what he’s seeing in the world of auctions now to help you make your UK property decisions in 2024.
