Workplace Learning in the Post-Covid World, with Sam Taylor, Jr. and Rick Housler
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this insightful podcast, Amit Garg speaks with World Bank Groups’ executives, Sam Taylor, Jr. and Rick Housler about ‘Workplace Learning in the Post-Covid World’. Both Sam & Rick, as senior learning specialists, support Open Learning Campus (OLC), which is the World Bank Group’s single destination for staff and client learning.
Rick recalls the situation around March 13, 2020 when the World Bank Group suddenly had to transition to the work from home scenario until further notice, because of the pandemic that shook the entire world. However, with the OLC architecture already in place, Rick says that it really helped them to balance that transitional phase. According to Sam, the biggest challenge in delivering learning programs during the pandemic is that losing that physical presence. With the full hybrid model, it has added another challenge for the instructors to not fall back on the old habits.
Here are the key takeaways from this podcast-
- Establishing balance between physical presence in the room and the virtual environment while transitioning from room to virtual.
- Spaced learning as an opportunity of improvement in quality of delivery.
- Being respectful of the learner’s time by designing learning which is more accessible and digestible.
- Just-in-time learning mindset as a rising trend within workplace learning methodology.
- Mapping skills and competencies for broadening capabilities in planning careers and future direction of the organization.
