Speaker 1:

The Hernandez and Cruz Show. Alright, peace and love. Well, welcome to the show, hernandez and Cruz. Mike, my guy, how's it going? Brody, it's the week of Halloween. What's good with you.

Speaker 2:

Well, on this November 1st since we're now in November, it's been good Getting to this podcast and getting this great episode we got in store.

Speaker 1:

Alright, you already know the deal. Me and Mike, we just two good friends that love to talk sports and we just want to thank y'all for joining us every week just to kind of vent about our teams. And Mike, nfl week eight just wrapped up. Like I said, the week of Halloween. At the time of this recording, both of our teams had a close game. The bills pulled it out on Thursday night against the Bucks, 2418. The Giants tough game lost an OT against the Jets, 1310. But, mike, let's get right into it. The bills are now five and three, and I just want to talk about the game a little bit and then maybe, where I think the bill season, what I would like to see happen moving forward opening offensive drive installed on a third down call to digs.

Speaker 1:

It was like a third and one or third and two, can't quite remember and they elected to pass the ball. I was really confused. I was like, oh shit, here we go again. Like, at that point I'm like you got Josh Hale and he's six foot five, 200, whatever 40 pounds. Like just let this guy run that first down. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a guy that likes to buffalo bills.

Speaker 1:

The second quarter, though, is when I really got excited for the team. They started to get into rhythm, and that's what Sean McDermott's been preaching is this often seems to get into rhythm early. They did, with two touchdowns in that second quarter. Dalton Cade coming out party my guy finally got his first professional touchdown. Khalil Shakir had another great game six catches, 96 yards. You know they looked elite. It looked like the bills offense that basically we've been used to seeing these last couple years, and they let Josh Hale and be Josh Hale a little bit more. Mike, I don't know about you. Maybe the bills organization has an insider. They listened to our podcast last week because I said, hey, we need to run Josh a little bit more. Josh and my man just started running this week, mike, so maybe they're out there listening to her name. Is it Cruz, who knows right?

Speaker 2:

Possibly but I know the crazy thing is. I know initially you didn't want Josh Allen to run a lot, but I guess you know, like you said, there are times when it's necessary, when he can do it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and that's what I'm getting at. You know you want to protect Allen and you want him to run more, but he's also a dual threat quarterback, so he needs to have those moments where he uses his legs as a threat and that's what I like to see. He didn't run it overly a left-mount, you know what I mean. He ran seven times good amount. No, I don't really want any more than that. I really like to keep it around five. But sometimes you got to make plays with your legs. He did run one in for a tutty. So I mean he can't even be mad when Josh is being Josh, you know, and bills just got to capitalize on his threat. I mean even Todd Bowles, at one point in the game he was like I was expecting Josh Allen to run but he didn't run. He ended up passing and ended up not scoring on that drive. But you know it's no surprise. So Bill's used Josh Allen in a sparingly matter. Obviously we need him for the whole year in the playoffs, but you know, moving on, I mean the O-line was looking actually good. For once the run game was there with Josh. I really liked what they did offensively the, you know, dion Dawkins and the boys. They were blocking this game and they kept Josh upright. He only got sacked twice. He did have a few more pressures, but I did like what I was seeing out of the offensive line this week, so I got to give him props there. Mike, two things I am looking for moving forward with Buffalo after this win. Like I said, they're five and three second in the division.

Speaker 1:

We got a big game coming up on Sunday night against the Bengals, but number one, josh Allen, this is a shout out to you. So if there's a bills organization member listed as podcast, tell that man to be a killer. And that's what I need. I need a killer. I can't wait to have that on my team, because the greats of the past, including the current Mahomes, the Mannings, the Brady's and my 10 is they were killers and that's what you want. At your quarterback. I want you all to go in and close out the game, and that did not happen. This game. The bills offense had a couple of opportunities Close, game out, put it away. Not even a chance for Baker and the boys to get back on the field. So, josh Allen, that is my thing, boy, be a John Dutton out there, just go and just put teams away, stomp your foot on their neck and don't let them breathe. And so many times they've been done to the Buffalo bills. We've been killed by many killers. Now it's our turn. So, josh Allen, you know I want you to go out there and be a killer boy. Just get that killer's mentality, that Mamba mentality, whatever it takes, that MJ mentality, go finish those games. So I really need to see that from my QB moving forward. I want him now to go finish teams like teams, are usually finishing the Buffalo bills Okay.

Speaker 1:

So second, I need the defense to get important stops at the end of games. The defense has been weakened and I know it's been showing the last three games. And if you take anybody's team and their best three defense of players at every level the line, the middle of the field and the secondary yeah, they're going to feel the pain. But the last three weeks in a row, you know, first it started with Tyrod and then boys, they took the ball no problem down the field and they almost scored. Now, luckily, it worked out. But then the next week, you know, against Mac Jones and the Patriots, again they just the offense got the lead at the towards the end of the game, maybe a minute left, and then the defense gives it up. And then this week again at the end of the game, you know, although it shouldn't have came to that, but when it does come to that because you're always going to find yourself in these tight spots and especially high stakes, playoffs, games, bills is you got to be able to shut that other team down and Baker may feel. They even had a chance at the end of the game for a Hail Mary, which ironically did not touch anyone, which is the craziest Hail Mary.

Speaker 1:

But again, that's that's where I'd like to see the bills improve defense, I get it, you're hurt, you're down, but you have done great. But when those big moments come, where we need to stop, no matter what the offense did previously, we got to get you guys stepping up. So, mike, that's really what I got on the bills this week for that game. I liked what I saw. I think they're heading the right direction. And now Josh Allen be a killer. And the bills D we need you all to just to get a step up, you know, and we did pick up a defensive player. We'll talk about that in a little bit on the trade deadline. So we'll get more into that bills mafia. But Mike, giants game, let's talk about it. You had 24 points, you guys had a tough game. Yeah, how you feeling about your Giants now, after you know what are we at week eight?

Speaker 2:

I mean, like I said the previous weeks, at this point there's nothing really for the Giants to play for besides just draft picks really, and hopefully get some continuity along the offensive line to progress for next year and at this point give the younger receivers like Jaylen Hyatt knows it at a future more experience for this year and then next year and give them more confidence some way some out. But as far as the Giants Jets game goes First, I want to start off by saying I didn't see it but it was pathetic. I mean, what a combined 26 pence, 25 pence. But here's some things that stuck out to me. I know it was raining and I know the weather was bad, but I mean, I know Tyra Taylor got hurt. First of all Tyra Taylor was four, seven for eight yards passing. Of course he left the game with a rib injury. But then you insert the third string, tommy DeVito, who went to Syracuse, shot out Well, the two for seven minus one yard who for seven?

Speaker 2:

It's just crazy like you got it. I understand you're kind of handcuffed with a third string quarterback, but damn, this is the NFL, even with a third string quarterback. I would think you would attempt to To pass the ball a little bit more. Try not to be as one-dimensional. 52 total carries by everybody combined, rushing Shake one at 36 of them for, like what, 130 yards. It's cool that sake one with able to handle the workload and things like that. But given the line we have in our history and sake one's history with entries, that's not necessarily a smart move. I mean that's something we had to do to try to win the game. To try to win the game but shout out to the defense they did they thing both sides defensively, basically, you know, shut everybody out and Forced all these punts and all this other stuff. So I mean, cave on tibid. Oh have what. Nine tackles, three sacks, his best game of his career by far. And I stop you right there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, how do you feel about that? He's one of the NFL's leading sack leaders, top five, eight, eight, five, maybe seven is coming out here. I know Giants fans been anticipating. I mean, he's looking like an elite defensive player, wouldn't you say? Or is that me? That's what I saw in the game. I watched some of that game because I was flipping back and forth between a few games, but that was one of my. That four quarter. He took over bro. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2:

I mean, early in the season it wasn't looking so good for him, but he's definitely progressed each week and you know this is only year two for him, so for him to be at eight and a half sacks at this point in the season he's on pace. For what pride? 13, 14 sacks at least. So yeah, that would be a great second season and you know, at least Feel better about that pick. You know Evan nailed the whole another story that we drafted in that draft.

Speaker 1:

You can't hit out of mall, you know, and I mean I get it, but your defense looks stout. I do, I did, I was impressed with your defense again. Yeah, I mean, it was against.

Speaker 2:

Zach Wilson, even though he had a decent game, considering the conditions. They actually threw the ball a lot. The only thing is I wish we could have kind of Shut down their receiver and a more receiver, but we couldn't do that. Garrett Wilson, I think he had what? A hundred yards, hundred and five yards, something like that. But yeah, man, defensively, like I said, with a defensive game on both sides, and it feel like we could have won the game even with the third string had we at least attempted to try to get the ball downfield and attempted to pass more. But it is what it is. Why is a Brian Davis, brian Dable, settling for field goals, knowing that your field goal kicker is hurt too and those conditions too, especially because he was not only hurt but the conditions was Terrible with the rain and slight wind and things like that.

Speaker 1:

But um, is he a good kicker game? Was he usually automatic?

Speaker 2:

though he's had a good career. Ironically enough, before the season we gave him a contract extension. He's been he's been a veteran in the league. I think he was with Carolina for a while, and a couple, maybe like one or two other teams.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, he's Been in the league for a while, definitely a good kicker. Had a good season last year for us, just this year. You know, I don't want to blame him because it shouldn't have come down to him, right, but it's on the offense. I mean, some way, some out. We've got to find a way to score more than 10 points. I.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I feel you we got the Raiders coming up this week and you know, with yesterday, well, this morning the Raiders firing their head coach and offensive coordinator and the thing is, you know, they have a Antonio Pierce as their interim coach. You know, the former Super Bowl Champion linebacker, middle linebacker for the Giants.

Speaker 1:

No shit, wow, that's cool.

Speaker 2:

It's kind of ironic that his first game as an interim coach is gonna be Against the Giants, but we'll see how that pans out. I also dare, while they're getting hurt, which he came into the game Questionable, so him leaving the game, that I didn't help either. When it comes to trying to pass the ball, because that is your main threat, a lot of people aren't seeing it, but he has had second best season overall for Titans.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So how are you feeling with this Raiders game coming up, do you? I mean, what are you expecting, as Daniel Jones one gonna be back in two? Are you expecting a win, or is it just like Lumen doom?

Speaker 2:

is Daniel Jones gonna be back? Possibly it looks. It looks like he was cleared. He was cleared to play and cleared for contact. So we'll see how the week goes. I say possibly because I remember a week or two ago they were saying he's more likely to come back Next week, the following week. So we'll see. But it's possible we can come back this week. But I mean you kind of got to play cautiously because this is two years in a row. Daniel Jones had a neck injury. I think they said this is the bulging disc issue. So we'll see. I'm not necessarily too sure what they're gonna do there. I guess I'll find out more when the injury reports and stuff come out.

Speaker 2:

You know, thursdays typically the big day as far as practice, things like that, as far as Seeing more or less who's gonna play, who's questionable things like that. So either way, man, we just got to get the job done. If we can't beat a team that has that end room coach and just fired their OCA and head coach, then yeah, things is really, really looking bad for day. Well, it's already looking bad because he's another former Ballochek assistant that Haven't really had that much success. I mean he had to coach for the year last year, but this year it's looking terrible. I get the expectations with a lot higher, but yeah, it's looking terrible.

Speaker 1:

I feel you I mean I get it your team is. You know they're on the downswing. What are they? Two in six? What is their record? Now, I'm sorry, I forgot their record. They two and six.

Speaker 2:

Let me look it up.

Speaker 1:

Oh god, it's that bad, but you don't even want to look at their record. I've been there before and then some of the bills seasons. I don't look at any of this as.

Speaker 2:

I'm right, you're right to a six, two and six.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, why didn't know what to buy? I couldn't remember if they had a buy in there, but I think they actually got the buy with bills this year, week 13, so never mind.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, we got a late buy Yep with the bills week 13. I remember that.

Speaker 1:

Let's get into the NFL trade deadline first. As a Giants fan, were you wanting anything? Were you expecting anything? Like I see a team like Minnesota go out and grab Josh Dobbs and with your guys is current quarterback situations. Sure, they're either her or you. You're scrambling to get one. Would you want to see somebody get in there?

Speaker 2:

Nope, no need to grab anybody, no need to his even late round picks, no need to spend them on quarterbacks or any position really at this point.

Speaker 2:

Okay we did kind of sell. We got rid of Leonard Williams, big cat, who's had a good NFL career. I remember a couple podcasts ago I said I thought he was like 32 33. He's actually only 29, about to be 30. So, yeah, we traded him to Seattle for a second and a fifth Pretty good value.

Speaker 2:

There felt like we could have traded a couple more players, or I felt like we should have, but it didn't happen. I mean, I even feel I feel bad for, say, quantum, the way I feel like we should have traded him. Number one, cuz we kind of fucked his career up Well, not kind of what did. And number two, we're gonna have to go through the whole sake one drama again next year as far as contract, like he's not gonna want franchise sag, which I don't blame him and then we're gonna, you know, try to finagle and see meet somewhere in the middle on a pride one year deal, but long term. I think at this point they'll be stupid to give him a long-term deal and He'll be stupid for what it'll be stupid for taking, if he does, in my opinion because I always want to stay with the franchise that Ruin your career of what potentially could have been Because of a lack of a line.

Speaker 2:

So I felt like we could have traded, say, one. I felt like we could have traded a Xavier McKinney, our safety, and I felt like those two definitely could have been traded. But at least we got rid of a Leonard Williams and got signed for him a second and a fifth for For somebody that's gonna be a free agent next year, it's a pretty good value. So We'll see what those picks turn out to be, because that's the thing you know picks are draft capital which you can either trade up or Draft somebody.

Speaker 2:

But if you don't use them right either way, I mean Leonard Williams is gonna get another big contract. So, yeah, we don't need to spend money on him when we just spent Massive amount of money on Dexter Lawrence, especially seeing how the line is. Yeah, the money needs to go into the line. But to the Giants defense, they have tried to improve the line through the draft and Previous GM Dave Gettelman, they try to get a left tackle which failed to, and Nate's older. It actually failed miserably. So, yeah, we'll see which direction they going off season right.

Speaker 1:

Well, bills mafia, we got one of Green Bay starting defensive backs, russell Douglas, for a third round pick and they sent us a fifth. So basically a pick swap for the 20 24 draft. We did desperately need a quarterback with Trey white going out and We've had our other starting quarterback kind of get hurt Benford and we were kind of down to our backups with the Lime out there and you know Dane Jackson. So we we've been very thin there. It was good to see he played in zone coverage a lot. So that is gonna be a benefit to our bills defensive scheme. And you know when McDermott likes to use those defensive backs, usually we go with nickel, some sort of five. So he's gonna be a great influx there.

Speaker 1:

Did I really want Jalen Johnson from the Bears? I was really hoping we could get him. However, that deal fell through because the asking price was too high between us to 49ers and Bears. They were trying to make a three team trade. It didn't work out. So you know, here we are.

Speaker 1:

I'm glad that we did make a move at the trade deadline. I really wanted a linebacker but we didn't get one. So we got it. We got a cornerback. I'm okay with that. It's still defense because, let's be honest, our secondary has been getting a diced up these last couple weeks, I mean even by Mack Jones. I mean any, any help is good and he seems to be a good player. So he started for Green Bay. But, yeah, I'm good with the bills move. And now here we go. Now everyone's either gonna have to sign off a free agency or, you know, next year we got wait till next year to get someone else to add to that. You know a closing mentality. We'll see what bond does when he is fully back healthy and you know, go from there, man. So that's where I'm at with the. With the trade deadline, I knew no, might you want to talk about any other big signings?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, we'll talk about some more trades. Um cuz. One of the things is I know, since you brought the Bears, I know they got a young new GM and I don't know what the hell they're doing. They're stupid because, okay, you don't trade the cornerback that you wanted, johnson, okay, but then why the hell would you spend draft capital on a guy? It's gonna be a free agent in Montez wet one, two Signing sweat won't be a good move for them because they have so many other issues they have to address.

Speaker 2:

I mean it could be a good move for them if it pans out and he works out, but I mean they have so many issues to address. His price tag on sweat and these addresses nowadays are gonna be so high. So I don't even know if it'd be worth the price tag of what it might command to Keep sweat, which you know they will. But I don't understand what they were doing there. You also got to remember earlier in the season, the bear straight at Claypool to the dolphins. I don't even know if the dolphins have played him yet at wide receiver, but I was another move the bears made earlier in the season, which was a good move because they had to get rid of him. But they came around and made this stupid move. It doesn't make sense. Like, what direction are they trying to go in? Also, chase young.

Speaker 2:

Going to the 49ers is an excellent move. You know more. Address this for them in a secondary that's been struggling. So you know you can get to the past. You can get to the quarterback. It makes your defense look better. We saw with the Giants when they won their Super Bowl no, the big part of their defense and success. So we'll see how that turns out. He's another Upcoming free agent that's gonna have a high price tag at the address position, but 49ers seem to be going for it. I'm surprised Derek Henry didn't get moved. I Don't know what Tennessee was doing there. I thought a team like y'all would be a good fit for them, or even like the Cowboys, or a team like the Chiefs, you know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and maybe they have found their stud with Will Leves. I mean, he may end up being a smart pick, who knows? He had a hell of a game. I know it's just one game and it was against Atlanta, but hell, you're right man. Maybe a Derek Henry move could have helped. You know for the future. I like that. I like that a call out there.

Speaker 2:

You know that was and under the radar move. I think during the deadline that was made a Jaguars getting that lineman, you know, for them to be able to keep a travel on its Upright. You know, anytime you got a quarterback like that you got to keep him healthy. So that was a good move for them and their division is gonna be interesting because it's turned out that, uh, cj Strout, even though Houston's record isn't that good, he's shown to be very promising too. So that's gonna be an interesting division in the years to come. But that was a good move for Jacksonville for them to try to fortify their line and you know future and things like that. So those are some trade moves that stuck out to me. Oh yeah, the E was getting Kevin Byrd. That was a great pickup for them. I know that was before the deadline, but that was another great pickup for them because he was the all-pro Probo safety in Tennessee.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I know I mentioned this before, but I even think that that move for Josh Dobbs, with Kurt Cousins going down, might be a good benefit for Minnesota. Because they're there I think they're four and four now they still got a chance at a playoff shot. I mean he wasn't doing great things in Arizona, but I mean Arizona is Arizona. They're not a really great team anyway.

Speaker 2:

He has clearly more weapons here on offense with, even with a Jefferson hurt just with the development of what we've seen with Addison.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2:

We'll be interested to see what he does there and I think they only gave like a seventh round pick or six and like that stuff.

Speaker 1:

And he's got that tight end too. What are the? Hawkinson is his name. He's a hell of a fucking tight end bro.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, solid move for them, for sure. We'll see what happens there. But uh, the Lions look like they're uh Clearly gonna win that division. But with the way the NFC's been Vikings just throwing the wildcard chase, so at least they're going for it. Those are the moves that stuck out to me.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I like it. Well, what's what's switch gears? And what kind of talk about moves? Let's get into the James Harden goes to the Clippers. What are your initial thoughts on that, Mike, when you heard that you know Another guy going to LA?

Speaker 2:

you know he's from LA, so it's interesting, you know. I mean from this standpoint. You have Harden, you have Westbrook. Would be interested to see how to out work out to go with Kawai and Paul George. That's a lot of egos and a lot of big names to feed with one basketball. But just from a name standpoint it's a great move for them, especially when tonight, because we are recording this episode on Wednesday, I don't know if it's tonight or tomorrow night, but like I just played the Clippers. So James Harden, I assume he'll suit up for that game. But for what? Uh, philly got back. They got back a decent return considering the situation. I mean they got a couple veterans in Morris and um, I forgot who else they got having 10 or something, I don't know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, covington. So I mean, from their standpoint, it was a good move Because you know, they got rid of a headache and in my opinion, they got rid of a choke artist, and now that's the Clippers problem is now they got choke artist James Harden. The crazy thing is, in the last what three years? He's forces way out of three different teams. He's forces way out of Houston, forces way out of the Nets, forces way out of Philly. Now, um so, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I get, the NBA is the league of player empowerment, but they got it. They got to do something to try to deter this stuff because it's kind of ridiculous, especially for the small market teams. Like how do you be a fan of any team in a small market if you know your players gonna sign a contract and have no intentions of even come remotely close to fulfilling it? So I get it. You know the big teams load up on players Eventually. I know the Nicks will be in that position to load up on players and get big names too.

Speaker 2:

I'm glad they didn't get James Harden. So I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because my team didn't get James Harden, because that's not the case. I just think from an overall league standpoint and from a fan standpoint, it just sucks because you spend so much money on tickets and invest time and energy and all this other stuff and then these players are out the door a year or two After they sign these max deals. So I just think the NBA needs to do something to try to deter this force in your way out, because it's getting ridiculous. But what's your opinion on the trades?

Speaker 1:

Clippers fans, I don't know how it is gonna turn out. I basically, james Harden, joins the island of misfit toys Because, like you already said, you got Paul, george, westbrook and Kawhi, which you can't really depend on Kawhi or George, to be healthy. When they are healthy they are great players, no doubt about it. But I just, if they haven't been able to solve it with them too, I don't think adding Westbrook and then James Harden who, like you said, mike, never seems to be happy, I'm sure he's gonna find his way out of the Clippers somehow, way, somehow, because he's not gonna be able to solve it now, because that's just been his trending lately, which you know. Whatever, it's still business at the end of the day and I get that and people do, you know what they think is the best interest of their business.

Speaker 1:

But you know those teams that do bad business, like the Clippers and the net and I would even say Philly to a degree, I usually not ones in the running for championships most of the time. Now, the reason Philly's in it because they got a Superstar and Joel L&B'd. But the nets, you know they're the nets and that's always had Some good teams and then they would just fall off the face of the earth. And the same thing with Clippers They've had good teams and then they fall at the place of the earth. And I just think that's kind of the business side of it, where they're looking more to make the money, mike, versus having the players be their long-term in building a business that is going to be Sustainable. And I think with these players, you're right them having that much in power and being able to move whenever they want.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to say that started with LeBron, because here's the thing LeBron waited till his contracts were done, so he fulfilled his contract and then went free agency and then you know. So when guys do it that way, that's the right way to do it. Hey, I feel my contract now I want to go work for someone else. I can accept that. But when you're in the middle of a contract and you're bitching and moaning and crying to get out of it, like that's you know, come on, man, like at least you can't even finish out the year, like I don't yeah, like I mean, I get a player doing it occasionally, but it just happened far too often.

Speaker 2:

And Talk about what you said with the whole free agency thing.

Speaker 2:

I would like the fact for these players to move during free agency too, because that makes the offseason better, that I'm going into the season better, and not only that yeah if you think about it, these teams that are trading for these players, even if they're giving up old assets and Old assets from the standpoint of, like veteran players or like a first-round pick or a second-round pick if these players Leave in free agency and not via trade, you saved them picks. So, from a team standpoint, your team could be even more equipped if these players went the route of the free agencies. I mean, I get it, though they want the max contracts because they want the most money and things like that. I get that aspect from the business side of the players. But it just grew over the fans, like you even think, with the next. I mean, when they made the trade with Carmelo back in the day, okay, they gave up Wilson Chandler, solid player, raymond Fowler in solid player, timothy Mouski More than really much role player.

Speaker 2:

And then you look at the draft pick first round pick. It was years later but it became Jamal Murray. Now who's to save the next draft? Jamal Murray, that Jamal Murray would have been that good. Nobody knows he might have been, might have not have been, might have been a franchise player for us. If we had drafted him and had that spot. He might have not. But that just goes to show, like these picks that they're giving up to get these players, you know, sometimes really do turn out the backfire, because it could be a 10-15 year play player for that team that you just trade it away For that player, that you could have gotten free agency had he chosen to leave him free agency. So I there's different ways to look at it.

Speaker 1:

Do you still want to touch on the World Series at all?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we can hit up the World Series for a little bit because tonight's game five man World Series been going on pretty fast. You know it started Friday, friday, with a classic. It was, um, one of the best World Series games, mainly because of the way it ended very dramatic at the end between Texas and Arizona. Arizona has a ring from back in 2001. Texas is looking for their first. Texas is currently up three games to one. But back to game one man. Game one Arizona was up five, three after the fifth Fennin and had to lead all the way up into the ninth Fennin. Then in the ninth Fennin man Corey Segar came through, clutch, hit that to run home run the title game. And then 11 Fennin A, dallas Garcia hit the walk-off. But that was a great game for sure. And then game two Arizona responded with a win. I think it was nine one. And then, yeah, from there, once the series was tied at one one game three Arizona lost three to one. But they've been in basically every game man.

Speaker 2:

You look at if they were the one game one, how differently the series might have been. They might have been at the minimum Tied two, two or they might have been up three, one. They got the ass kicked last night. They were losing at one point, eleven to one. Even in game four last night Texas hit for the cycle and one ending think it was the second ending. So as a team, they hit for the cycle, they scored five runs and two innings. I mean two different innings, they scored five runs. So that was ten runs. Right there, I was just two innings. And you know, even though Arizona fell behind big time, you know a friend, and they tried to mount a comeback by scoring Four and then they scored two in the ninth and they lost eleven to seven.

Speaker 2:

Game five tonight is going to be interesting Because Texas this postseason is ten and oh, on the road and they have their ace, nathan of, already on the mound, who was pitched Phenomenal throughout his postseason career. I think he's eight and three were like a three point three ERA and he has a ring with the Red Sox so he could potentially clinch the World Series for them and he was a free agent signing two years ago during the same time when they signed Simeon and they traded for Seager. So that could be very interesting. You know they're their signings worked out very well for them and their trades too. Man, they got a lot of young players on that team both. Both teams have a lot of young players. A Corvin Carroll on Arizona is going to be the rookie of the year, so we'll see how Arizona responds today.

Speaker 1:

Well, tonight, I feel you. I mean Arizona and diamonds. First of all, fuck y'all. That's number one.

Speaker 1:

Yes they beat Yankees back in the day. So I definitely am not rooting for your team, texas. I am 1,000 percent rooting for you. Like Mike said, they're looking for their first World Series championship. So how cool would that be? Tech my sister-in-law lives in Texas, shout out. So I'm rooting them, them for that and really, like I'm an AL guy at the end of the day, so I'm always in root for the AL.

Speaker 1:

And if Texas wins it, I mean, how crazy would it be that the commissioners trophy two years in a row ends up in the state of Texas? But yeah, man, I'm excited For Texas. I hope they pull it off tonight. I know they did lose their guy there, garcia for the remainder of the series. That sucks. But, like Mike said, they got their starting ace on the mound. So we're gonna see how this one's gonna turn out, man. But I'm all rooting for the Rangers that bring it home to Texas again and I hope they really get it, man. So that that'll be exciting. But you know, no shade Arizona. But fuck y'all for beating Yankees. What was that? Oh three, I think. Oh one, oh one, oh was, oh one, oh yeah, after 9-11. Yeah, that's why I fucking was so pissed, because it was after 9-11. So, yeah, that's where I'm at. You know, my you, you're more the bigger baseball guys. So, but for me I'm rooting for them. Texas boys, I hope they pull it off.

Speaker 2:

I mean, you know me at the baseball fan, I'm just looking for a great series. I picked originally Texas the winners series in six or seven, but I thought most likely it'll go six. And yeah, we'll see how game five goes. Um, but yeah, as far as that 2001 series. Man was 10 years old. That was the first time I felt true pain as a sportsman. First time.

Speaker 1:

What man?

Speaker 2:

man, I cried that one hurt. But uh, mm-hmm, yeah man, I just look at this, uh, arizona Diamondbacks team and even Texas team and you see this young talent they have and it's like damn man, when the Yankees really gonna make this move and trust these young kids and give them a shot and Spend money wisely, not just spend money on these old-ass, ancient senior citizens. So hopefully they take a page out of these two teams and you know they changed their philosophy and model going into the RCS in the next year and hopefully in free agency they're able to get some speed and capitalize on the bigger bases and things like that. Cuz Arizona. That's one of the issues they've been causing throughout this whole postseason is they've been wreaking havoc on the base pass and Just great base running all around. So yeah, with the new Rules, with the bigger bases and the piss clock and all that, speed is becoming more of a factor, which is great for me because tired of just seeing home runs and strikeouts.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it seems as those, those teams that have those basics down. You know the move in the runners and just getting runners on and getting them in. You know the small ball, as they call it in baseball. You know station to station baseball. You're right, mike, those teams with the faster guys and and really that can bump and steal like they're gonna be, but it seems like they're lasting longer than the home run teams. You know, I mean you can hit all the home runs in the day, but it comes down to can you put the ball and play and put runners, you know, across that home plate?

Speaker 2:

and the interesting thing of Texas wins. This will be Bruce Bochies fourth ring as manager, but first time winning a ring during an odd year because it's 2023. All his rings have won. He's won in even years. He went three with the Giants 10, 12 and 14 during their dynasty years. So, yeah, this would be his first in the odd year and he's in his 70s. Maybe that's what the Yankees needed. Old manager, I said it the Yankees should have got Bruce Bochie and they didn't.

Speaker 1:

And look at what Bruce Bochies known with Texas nice, I like that stat, that little cool little stat, mike throwing out there for the baseball. He's winning it on an odd year. That's cool. Thank y'all for tuning in. This week we a little bit different show, we. We got the NFL in and then we got some NBA in, because it's that time here and a little bit of World Series. I love it, man. So y'all already know. Thank y'all so much for joining us. Every week we're bringing it to you, man Hernandez and Cruz.
