Mock Draft - 14-Team 3 WR
Dive into the challenging world of 14-team fantasy football leagues with our comprehensive mock draft breakdown! When Trayton Collins asked us to tackle a 14-team, full PPR, three-receiver format, we couldn't wait to show two distinct strategic approaches from different draft positions.
Drafting from the 4th spot, Frankie makes the bold choice to select Jameer Gibbs over Saquon Barkley, banking on Detroit's explosive offense and Gibbs' receiving upside. Meanwhile, Johnny demonstrates a receiver-heavy approach from the 9th position, securing Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Harrison Jr., and DK Metcalf before addressing other positions. Both strategies yield compelling teams while highlighting the unique challenges of larger leagues.
The episode reveals several crucial insights about 14-team drafts that could transform your approach this season. We explore the severe talent drop-off that occurs around rounds 6-8, the unexpected quarterback runs that can derail your plans, and the importance of identifying potential breakout rookies like Jaden Higgins and Emeka Egbuka. Plus, we demonstrate how to adapt when you miss on a targeted player and the value of creating quarterback stacks with your skill position players.
Whether you're drafting from an early, middle, or late position, this mock draft provides actionable strategies to help you build a balanced roster despite the deeper player pool. The three-receiver format adds another layer of complexity, forcing difficult decisions between positional scarcity and overall value throughout the draft.

Speaker 2:That's right, man. These mock drafts are so important and they're so much fun to do. These are so valuable guys, this is so much fun. Today we got a big one. We got a request coming in Frankie. Who requested this mock draft?
Speaker 1:John we got a request from Trayton Collins, from TikTok, coming at us and saying hey, I'm listening, I'm watching, I'm curious. I am in a 14-team full PPR three-receiver league. Would love to see how you guys draft this. So guess what, trayton Collins? We're giving you what you're asking for. Brother Johnny is going to be drafting from the nine spot and I will be drafting from the four, giving you a little bit of insight from the front and from the middle to get you ready for your draft.

All right, let's get right in here, frankie, let's get the board. Let's go All right right off the rip. No surprise Jamar Chase at the 101. It is a full PPR. Then Bajon Robinson and CeeDee Lamb. Frankie, you're on the clock. 14-team full PPR, three receiver and a flex. Where are you going with your first pick here at the number four?
Speaker 1:Yeah, this is tough guys, and it wouldn't necessarily be tough because I would go Justin Jefferson 100%. The issue is, justin Jefferson is already battling a hamstring and there's no timetable for him to return, and a lot of times that makes me a little bit nervous, knowing that I'm anchoring this early on with somebody of that nature. So now I'm actually going to look to shift and, yes, I get that it's a full PPR, but I also want to be mindful of the two-star running backs that are still available from Saquon Barkley as well as Jameer Gibbs. Guys, for me, a full PPR. I want to try something different. I would usually go Saquon. I want to be crystal clear, however, I'm going to try Jameer Gibbs, and I say that because I think his receiving work is going to be a little bit more than what we've even seen from last year. I think that he might even take a little bit more than that of David Montgomery, knowing Ben Johnson's gone. So for me, I want to see how this kind of pans out with Jameer Gibbs.
Speaker 2:I love that strategy, man. I mean, look at the workload also that Saquon's gotten over the past couple of years, you know. So that does make people nervous. Jameer Gibbs he's on the uprise. He is, he's young, jameer Gibbs could be the one-on-one next year, could be. I mean, that's not a bold take, it really isn't, man. I love that, All right. So after you took Jameer Gibbs, here we had Justin Jefferson, then Saquon Barkley, malik Neighbors and Derrick Henry.
Speaker 2:I am at the number nine spot here. Being a three-receiver league, I have to look at receiver first. Three receiver league. I have to look at receiver first amin ra, puka nikua, nico collins all excellent choices there. Running back, she got ashton genti, cmc, devon, achan. Guys. This is a 14 team league. I'm not gonna fuck around. You have to get a receiver. You've got to get heavy on receivers in this league. Uh, I'm gonna go amin ra. I just think he's a little bit of a teardrop. I've've got him just ahead of Puka and ahead of Nico as well. So I'm going to go there, all right.
Speaker 2:After I took AJ or, I'm sorry, amon Ross, st Brown, nico Collins, puka Nakua, brian Thomas Jr. Big receiver, run there, ashley. Here come the running backs Frank Ashton, gentee, cmc. At the end of the first, coming into the second round. We've got Devon Achan, bucky Irving four running backs taken in a row there AJ Brown, drake, london, josh Jacobs I'm back on the clock. All right, let's take a look here what we've got. If I want to stay in the receiver realm Ladd McConkie's at the top of the teardrop there, jsn, tyreek Hill, t Higgins All really good options here.
Speaker 2:Let's take a peek at some running backs Jonathan Taylor, kyron Williams, chase Brown this is a bit of a teardrop for me and I want to get a stud running back. I do want to get a guy who's going to be the workhorse, the three down back 14-team leagues. These are going to be rare guys. It's not going to be easy to find one of these guys. I found one here and it's a big teardrop for me. I'm going to take Jonathan Taylor. All right, after JT, we had Brock Bowers taking second round here. Tight end and two quarterbacks in a row Brock Bowers, josh Allen, lamar Jackson and then Ladd McConkie. Frankie, it's your second pick, second round. What are you going to do?
Speaker 1:Yeah, guys. So for me, I'm definitely going to go receiver. I'm not even going to look at any other position because if I'm going running back first round right in a 14 team league, that's a three receiver. You got to hit on those receivers really, really hard. So when just looking at receiver, there's JSN, tyreek Hill, t Higgins, garrett Wilson. Again, this one's easy for me, guys, I'm going to lock in Tyreek Hill as my receiver one.
Speaker 2:Not surprising after our episode. Frank, tyree kill was a steal of the draft for you, and jsn was off your board completely. Yep, not, not a big shocker. All right, after tyree kill we had trey mcbride, garrett wilson, jsn t higgins uh, coming into the third round here, mike evans and kyron williams frankie, you're back on the clock. You've got jameer gibbs and tyree kill guys.
Speaker 1:This one's easy going back to the wallet. You've got Jameer Gibbs and Tyreek Hill Guys. This one's easy Going back to the well. At receiver right there's Terry McLaurin, marvin Harrison Jr, devontae Adams. It's Devontae for me. I'm getting out the wheelchair. I get that. I have the old team. I mentioned it before and I'll mention it again, but these are guys that are true and tried and are trusted. So for me, I love pairing Tyreek Hill with Devontae Adams and anchoring off of Jameer Gibbs.
Speaker 2:All right after Devontae Adams, chase Brown, james Cook, scary, Terry McLaurin and Brees Hall. I am on the clock here, ninth pick in the third round. I've got Amon Ross, st Brown and Jonathan Taylor. Looking at running backs, we've got Alvin Kamara, omarion Hampton, kenneth Walker, chuba really good options there at running back. Still Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr, rasheed Rice, dk Metcalf, dj Moore.
Speaker 2:Rasheed Rice is off my board We've talked about that in a previous episode just due to some of the factors that just basically the way that the offense is set up, the fact that they have a great defense run the ball, and the fact that he's going to be out for a couple of weeks, probably three weeks, and we're not really sure when that's going to be. Because of those reasons he's off my board. I think I do like a lot of those running backs could jump up and grab a George Kittle. I love George Kittle, especially at this value Quarterbacks. There you've got Jaden Daniels, jalen Hurts a little too rich for my blood right now. I'm not really trying to put together a monster stack or anything, so I think what I'm going to look at here there's kind of a teardrop for me. I'm going to go with Marvin Harrison Jr. I know it's a bit of a risky pick, but it's not as risky as you think, guys. He had a very decent season last year. It just didn't live up to the insane expectations we had for him going in. But I think he's going to have a bounce back year and again, I do like I would have gone after, potentially, kamara or Amari and Hampton there.
Speaker 2:But again, guys, this is a three receiver, one flex league. You got to hammer receivers early, man, so I had to have them All right. After I took Marv, we had some quarterback and tight ends taken here Joe Burrow, george Kittle, jalen Hurts and jayden daniels all in a row coming on the turn. Here we got a psychopath as team 14. He's going four running backs in a row, you bastard. Oh, let's see. Look at his running backs here. Cmc a chan, kamara and kenneth walker I mean this.
Speaker 2:That team would be awesome, but but he's not going to have any receivers whatsoever. Yeah, so fuck that guy. All right, coming into the turn here. He took Kamara Kenneth Walker, then Rasheed Rice, amarian Hampton, chuba Hubbard, joe Mixon and I am back on the clock here, want to continue, if I can, to stay in the flames with receiver Good ones out there DK Metcalf, dj Moore, courtland sutton these would all be my receiver three. I really like any of those guys as my receiver three. Running back two here I'd be looking at a. James connor, david montgomery, rj harvey, pacheco.
Speaker 2:Quarterback tier is pretty much gone for me at this point. Once you get to the patrick mahomes tier, then I'm gonna wait. If I can grab a bow nicks. That's the really the only guy I think about in this tier. Otherwise I punt and go for the talent. You know, let's go. I see another teardrop for me here. Guys at receiver, it's going to be DK Metcalf. I just seem to be always drafting DK Metcalf. I think his value is excellent. He's a receiver one with Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball on a good team that you know will probably be up in quite a few games here. I'm taking him all day long. I think the competition's low and his target share is going to be huge. All right, after DK we had Patrick Mahomes, sam Laporta, DJ Moore and Cortland Sutton. Frankie round four, fourth pick. Where are you going, man?
Speaker 1:Yeah. So looking at running backs guys, there's James Conner, rj Harvey, isaiah Pacheco, from a receiver standpoint, devonta Smith, zay Flowers, xavier Worthy. This is really tough because both of these, in my opinion, are dead zones. Right, it's just really hard to make a stretch for one of these cats. But there is one that probably rises to the surface a little bit more than the other, and for me that's going to be Zay Flowers. And knowing that he's my receiver three there, he's receiver one on the Ravens Guys. When you look at the body of work that he did last year, I mean he was receiver 25 in full PPR. He averaged 12 points a game, just a smidge over. So, knowing that he's my receiver three, I'm pretty happy with that. So I'm going to lock in Zay.
Speaker 2:I like that pick. I like that pick a lot. All right, after Zay Flowers, james Conner, rj Harvey, devonta Smith, xavier Worthy, j-mo T-Mac and Frankie are right back on the clock.
Speaker 1:Yep. So, guys, again I'm going to go back to the well at receiver Three, receiver league, one flex. I'm a little nervous because there's going to be a pretty significant drop off and I can anchor on Jameer Gibbs. So for me, again, it's Pickens, olave, judy, ridley. This is so tough because I'm going to do it. I just really have this guy stack ranked over some of the others and it's strictly due to somebody has to ball for the Browns and it's going to be Jerry Judy. And if you look at what Joe Flacco has been able to do for Murray Cooper, for David Njoku in previous years, knowing that he finally gets a shot with Jerry Judy and they're showing some great synergy in camp I mean to have Judy as my flex piece, knowing that he was a top 20 receiver last year. Yeah, I think it's a no-brainer. I'm rolling with Jude's.
Speaker 2:I like that call man. I like it a lot. All right, looking through here, after Jerry Judy was taken. David Montgomery Travis, kelsey Travis Hunter, george Pickens that Pickens pick would have been really nice for me, taken right in front of me. All right, so I'm on the clock here.
Speaker 2:This is round five. I've got Amon Ross, st Brown, marv and DK Metcalf Love, my three receivers, and Jonathan Taylor anchoring the running back spot here. All right, so really I can chill on receiver if I want to. I've got some really good ones here. I can start looking at tight end quarterback running back. Running back has really dropped off. It's tough right now, guys, pacheco, trey, henderson, aaron Jones, judkins, swift really difficult here. You know one thing I think I am going to take a look at this is an RB2. I kind of want a nice floor here. I'm going to take some chances later on with some rookies. Take some flyers. I'm going to go with a safer guy here. I know is on an offense. He had a down year. He got hurt last year, guys, he was a second-round pick in last year's draft, got hurt. But again, I talked about this team. The reason why I don't love the receivers is because they play good defense. They run the ball. They don't have to do those things. I'm going to take Isaiah Pacheco. I can see him having a bit of a bounce back here. It's not a super sexy pick, but you know he's the one. You know he's getting the work. It's a good team, great defense. I think he's a safe pick for me there. All right after Pacheco TJ Hawkinson, trey Henderson, calvin Ridley, jalen Waddell. Then, coming on the turn, the psychopath decided to take a receiver. Finally, he took Jordan Addison and Baker Mayfield Coming into the sixth round.
Speaker 2:Here we've got Chris Olave, aaron Jones, chris Godwin and Tony Pollard. I'm back on the clock Now. I've got Chris Olave, aaron Jones, chris Godwin and Tony Pollard. I'm back on the clock Now. I've got a really good, balanced team here, so I can kind of do anything I want, which is great. I waited a bit on quarterback, just like I said I was going to, and I love this guy. It ended up working out for me. Coming back in sixth round. I can get my boy, bo Nix, to pair up with this well-balanced team. All right. After Bo Nix, we had DeAndre Swift, caleb Johnson, jacoby Myers and Brian Robinson Jr. Frankie, you're on the clock. In round six. You've got four receivers and Jameer Gibbs anchoring your team. What are you going to do here?
Speaker 1:Guys, that running back room really fell short quickly. I mean, when we're looking at the running backs, there was Quinshawn Judkins, Tyrone Tracy, Jalen Warren, Travis, Etienne Guys. One of those are going to have to be your running back too. So when you look at receiver, though, there's still good players left on that board right Roman Dunze, Khalil Shakur, Debo, Samuel Cooper, Cupp, Stefan Diggs so I got to sure up that running back spot here. So for me, knowing that this is full PPR and knowing that this guy's already working with the ones, it's probably going to be a 1A 1B split. And again, when you look at what Brees Hall was able to do from a receiving perspective when Aaron Rodgers was throwing him the ball, I kind of see a similar pattern, potentially with Jalen Warren, and again, I'm just looking for a solid floor here. So I'm going to lock in Jalen Warren as my running back two there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, nice pick there, frank. You know I mean it's not a guy that you love having as your RB2, but he's going to have value. The guy's going to be on the field. There's PPR value here as well. So, yeah, I think if you're going to punt that far on your RB2, that's a good one to get man All right. Where are you going next, buddy?
Speaker 1:So, guys, looking at the board, you know you could end up reassuring your running back room, which is probably what I'm going to do here, guys, Knowing that right there's a ton of spots going to be going down and then snaking back before I get to my next pick, so I'm actually going to lock in. So, from a running back standpoint, it's Travis Etienne, Scataboo, Javante, Williams, I could go down to JK Dobbins and maybe have a little bit better floor. But for me, guys, I'm going to go Travis Etienne Again, just from a PPR perspective. He gives a little bit more of the oomph that I'm looking for. And again, Liam Cohen offense right. So we've seen what he's been able to do with pass catchers. So for me, I'm I'm really liking Travis Etienne as my RB three.
Speaker 2:I like that man. Okay, I'm on the clock here. Like I said, I took, you know, kind of a boring pick with Pacheco and it's so I can take a few swings here at running back. Also, I want to get some PPR love with my next couple running backs and the first one I see I'm really excited about. Guys, go back and watch our rookie review we did on Cam Scadaboo. This is just a guy I think has a really cool opportunity in New York to be able to catch a lot of passes out of the backfield which is what his specialty really is and the competition with Tyrone Tracy. This dude will be on the field. It may not be in the first couple of weeks, you may not see a ton of action, but he's going to be there and at a full PPR. I want a piece of that. So, because I took JT and Pacheco very safe picks with high floors I could take some chances at running back and see if I can hit some gold, all right. So back on the clock here I'm going to take a look. I've got a really well-rounded team. I can kind of do anything I want.
Speaker 2:Take a peek at tight end uh, a little early still for me at this point there's nobody I'm in love with. You got colston loveland, dalton kincaid, tucker craft, uh turd ferguson, kyle pitts. These guys are all kind of the same to me so I'll just I'll take one here, maybe in two rounds from now, potentially we'll see how it goes. Looking at uh running backs, it's pretty thin in there, guys. It's, I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty thin. I am gonna take another running back because I just I don't want to take a chance on this actually. No, I lied, frankie, I see somebody available that I knew I thought you were gonna do this.
Speaker 2:I have a good idea I, I have to take this guy. Um, this is a 14 team league. When you see a guy you want, you gotta take him, because you're never gonna see him again. Guys, this is a three receiver and a flex league. This is a guy is going to rise up your boards. Guys, he is not going to be. What are we in round eight in a 14-team league? This is not where he's going to be in September. If you're drafting Labor Day, guys, for sure Chris Godwin may be missing the first couple of weeks here. Emeka Egbuka has a real opportunity now, early, to give you value as well. I'm all over this guy, especially in my flex Love it. All right, frank, round eight when are you going here, buddy, yeah?
Speaker 1:So, guys, looking at the team as it's constructed now, I love Jameer Gibbs. My running back too is totally iffy. There's Jalen Warren and then there's Travis Etienne, but from a receiver perspective, I have Tyreek Hill, devontae Adams, zay Flowers and Jerry Judy Very solid receiving core. So when I look at what else is on the board, I could certainly go back to the well at running back and continue to sure that. Up there's Najee Harris, zach Charbonnet, ramondre Stevenson, tajee Spears, but there's really a teardrop for me at receiver, and I want to bolster this a bit more and this is actually a rookie. Right, we're seeing Jaden Higgins, and that's who I'm selecting. Jaden Higgins, who has been balling out of camp, listed as a starter opposite of Nico Collins, and so what do you think is going to happen when you're opposite of Nico Collins? Right, you're going to be able to get the rock, and so for me, man, knowing he's my receiver five, that gives a bit of youth to my old ass team and I think that this really is a solid pick for a receiver five perspective.
Speaker 2:Listen, man, he's going to be in single coverage every fucking play. They're going to double Nico every time and this guy's going to be by himself. He is known to beat man coverage. That's why they drafted him, so I think he has an awesome opportunity this year. Really, do Check out our rookie review. We talked about him. I'm totally in love with Jaden Higgins, man.
Speaker 1:He's awesome.
Speaker 2:Absolutely yeah.
Speaker 1:All right guys. So looking at my next pick here. So we're looking at round nine, round nine, I'm absolutely going to look to running back here. I could go quarterback. It's a slew of same slop, pretty much is how you want to look at it, so there's not really anything outstanding. So why? Why reach same thing with tight end, tight end, all similar. I know I'm streaming at this point in time, so don't worry, don't like tread water Right, and so for me, running back it is, there's a couple guys that really stand out. There's JK Dobbins, tajay Spears, rashad White, nick Chubb. It's easy, it's JK Dobbins. This guy gives me now a really, really good floor for my running backs. Again, he might be my RB2 starting off the season, and so if that's the case, then I'm okay. Man, I don't need a full PPR play, knowing I got Gibbs, tyreek Hill, devontae Adams, zay Flowers and Jared Judy.
Speaker 2:I love that man. Yeah, really really good pick there. All right, we're in round nine for me as well. Really well-balanced team. I've got Bo Nix at quarterback, three running backs, four receivers. So I've got my receivers and my flex filled out. Got the starting team pretty much filled out, other than tight end and, like you said, frankie, there's a bunch of tight ends here. I'll be streaming, most likely as well, so I'm just going to punt and try to keep loading up on running backs and receivers here and, like you said, the running backs are getting super thin and that is absolutely no lie.
Speaker 2:We're getting to the point now where we're looking at Tajay Spears, jaden Blue the rookie running back out of Dallas, rashad White, nick Chubb, people like that. I'm going to take a peek again at receiver and see if I can get a little flyer here on somebody. Actually, there is somebody I do want to take a chance on. It is a rookie receiver. I've got solid, solid starters here so I can take a few swings for the fence. This is a rookie receiver. Again, check out the rookie review that we did. Trey Harris with the Los Angeles Chargers. I just I love Justin Herbert this year. I'm a big believer in Harbaugh and his system and I think getting a rookie like this, I think this is kind of the guy they've been looking for for quite a while now I think they may have gotten him, so I want to take a chance and see if I'm right about that.
Speaker 2:Okay, we're going into round 10 here, frankie. This is where things get really interesting and where it takes quite a while to figure out what the hell you want to do here. Man, looking at running backs, we are looking at Nick Chubb at the very top here. Isaac Garendo is sitting there. If you want to screw the Christian McCaffrey owner, you can grab his handcuff there. You know what I will do is I'm going to take a little bit of running back depth here. Frank, this is a guy that I think is really being slept on. This is a full PPR. He did get hurt last year, so I'd like to see more action out of him this year and see if there's anything there. It's Austin Eckler. I think he could have sneaky value and a full PPR. I really do. All right, round 10, frank. Where are you going here, buddy?
Speaker 1:Well geez, I didn't know that every team was going to be drafting a backup quarterback already. I mean what the?
Speaker 1:hell is this? So guys, I got to be looking at quarterback right now or else I'm real screwed. So from a quarterback standpoint, I mean, there's JJ McCarthy that's a hell. No, there's Cam Ward, trevor Lawrence, michael Penix Jr, stafford Tua there's a bunch of guys that are just guys, except for one and John. We drafted him last year in a joint league and we were miserable because he got hurt. But I have Travis Eads again and I'm ready to be hurt again. I'm going to go with Trevor Lawrence here. I think now that he's healthy I can at least take a big deep breath and know that hey, if something else happens, then I can go stream another quarterback or get a Geno Smith or something like that. But at least Trevor Lawrence gives me enough of a floor from a quarterback standpoint to where I'm not absolutely freaking out.
Speaker 2:All right. So let's think about this situation for a second. Frankie, all right, yeah, do exactly what Frankie did. Look at the teams that are around you. Do exactly what Frankie did. Look at the teams that are around you. Look at the teams left on the draft. If you're punting on tight end and quarterback, look and see who doesn't already have some. Now you will find guys that will draft multiple quarterbacks. That happens every year. I don't recommend doing that. It's very, very situational to where I would take a backup quarterback, but you will see that. I mean, it depends on how savvy the league is and the guys you're with. You think you're waiting for a certain guy and then, all of a sudden, three teams take a backup quarterback right in front of you. So be prepared for that. Now, frankie, if that does happen to you, you're obviously very disappointed in getting Trevor Lawrence. You wanted to grab one of those other guys, maybe a Herbert or a Stroud or a Jordan.
Speaker 1:Love Stroud. Exactly, yeah, exactly. So, because that didn't happen. Now I get a really high floor, then type of quarterback maybe to Geno Smith, should he fall to me, something along those lines. That's who I would be targeting. But let's say now that I do have to take Trevor Lawrence. That's just what it is. I don't have a tight end. So what I'm going to try to do is bolster both ends of the spectrum then. That's how you guys need to be thinking about this. So right now, from a titan standpoint, there's isaiah likely hunter henry and brendan strange. So I am going to take brendan strange to potentially aid for both of these guys to try to maximize those points that's a great call.
Speaker 2:I mean, if you're streaming, potentially, anyway, why not take the chance on the stack, right, you know? Because then maybe you can double up on points in week one or two if strange ends up scoring. So yeah, that's a great move. Veteran move man love seeing that. All right, so this is round 11. Here, guys, we've got three more picks. I'm in my round 11 pick. I still need a tight end. Um, I would like to get a little bit more running back depth as well, if at all possible. All right, so look in here. Three picks left to go. Things are getting real thin down here, guys.
Speaker 2:This is a 14 team league. It's not as simple as the 10 team league that we did before. Man, this is great. Our teams are awesome. Everybody's teams are amazing. 14 team league, guys. You're going to look at it and go, oh my God, my team is gone. All right, so I want some running back depth here, because it really, really thinned out, guys.
Speaker 2:And there is somebody that I'm going to take here. This isn't somebody I'm targeting in leagues, necessarily, but I'm going to pair up Isaiah Pacheco with Kareem Hunt. I want to make sure I've got that locked out. Pacheco did come off of an injury. He got hurt for most of the season last year. Kareem Hunt they do love him. He does get the goal line a lot. He comes in on third downs. I'm going to lock that in, just in case anything does happen to Pacheco. I've got that backfield locked down.
Speaker 2:All right, let's get back going here into round 12. Two more picks to go. I do need a tight end, tight ends up here. We've got Hunter Henry, mike Gesicki, arroyo. You know what I am going to jump on? A tight end here, frankie, I'm going to take Mike Gesicki. I'm going to be streaming anyway and we all know if anything happens to T Higgins on that Cincinnati Bengals offense, mike Gesicki immediately shoots up, and you know we've seen it happen in the past. So I'll take a shot on it there. All right, frankie. Two more picks to go. Where are you going?
Speaker 1:I'm super happy this guy fell to me. I actually thought this is who Johnny was going to take and it's a running back right, just because I want to make sure I do a once-over one more time and, if I get an opportunity, a guy that's a 1A, 1b I'm going to take a shot, especially in the second to last round. For me it's Braylon Allen and guys, knowing that he's going to be splitting time with that at Brees Hall and knowing that Aaron Glenn came out and already said that he wants a guy that's going to be similar to Sonic and Knuckles over at Detroit, so for me I think there's zero risk in taking him. And why not, right? So then, john, for my last pick here.
Speaker 1:I mean, I got to go back to quarterback and we talked about and just in case something happens to Trevor Lawrence, I want to make sure that I have something in play, so I can look at Bryce Young, which I definitely don't like. I could look at Sam Darnold, anthony Richardson, aaron Rodgers, gino Smith, guys. There's one other quarterback I didn't mention. He was on purpose, because I'm going to take him, and the reason being is because if I'm going to take a quarterback, it's got to be for a stack, and so, knowing that I have Tyreek Hill, I want to take a shot at Tua, if Tua stays healthy and Tyreek can stay healthy. I mean guys, last year, if you think back, take a step back, think about last year they were going in as the number one, number two-ish stack. I mean, right, like people were drafted in Tyreek Hill 101 in some leagues, and so for me, knowing that I can get both of those guys for dirt cheap, I'm all about it. So I'm locking in Tua.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and the first couple of games you're looking at with, you know, the T of Tyreek stack at Indianapolis indoors and New England at home. I'm not terrified of those two teams, you know. I mean that might be a stack you start the season with, rather than Trevor Lawrence, you know. So, yeah, really interesting there. I like it. All right For my last pick here. It is all about depth, taking a chance, taking a swing and seeing if there's somebody on here that might have some upside to them here I'm going to look at. This is an interesting pick, guys, and we can even do an entire episode on last pick flyers. You know, guys you can go with, take a shot on. I'm huge on the waiver wire, especially in the first early couple of weeks. So this is a guy. If it doesn't pan out, I can drop this guy and play the waiver wire. I'm going to take a shot very specifically here, guys. This isn't somebody who really talked about much. It's Woody Marks. He's the rookie running back out of Houston and here's the reason why I'm interested in grabbing him right now Again, it's early August watching camp, and the reason why is because, uh, joe Mixon's hurt and he may not be healthy enough to start the season. He may go on the pup to start off, so that's not a great sign here.
Speaker 2:Nick Chubb, currently running as the one Guys he's not the same guy All the reports I'm seeing. Yes, he's talking big and talking about, you know, trying to be the Derrick Henry and all of that, but what's being shown? This is a time when everybody hypes everybody up. This is a time where the coaches are hyping and they want people to think that they're doing things great and their players are in great shape. Chubb's just kind of a guy right now, guys. Unfortunately and it's really sad. I mean, he's one of my favorite players entirely in the NFL he's not the same guy.
Speaker 2:So I think Woody Marks has an opportunity very good in the passing game coming out of the backfield as well. I think even with Mixon and Chubb healthy, this guy will be on the field on third downs and different type of scenarios. I'm going to take a shot on him because early on he may be able to get on the field and give me a little bit of PPR value there. All right, frank, that is the draft. Let's take a look and take a quick look at our teams and see how we feel about them. Why don't you break yours down here, man?
Speaker 1:Yeah, guys. So again, 14 team three receiver, one flex, full PPR, wow, okay. So from the first spot I'm picking from pick four. You know it's really tough. I got to be honest with you. I do not like taking a running back in any way, shape or form in a three-receiver league. I don't like doing it in the first four rounds. I were in the three-receiver league, john, and you can attest to this. I am in back-to-back seasons where I've taken four receivers in a row and it's worked out very well. I won a Super Bowl and was in the Super Bowl last year and unfortunately didn't take home the gold. But looking at this, jameer Gibbs, in my opinion, was the best option from a full PPR standpoint and then being able to pair him with a Jalen Warren, a Travis Etienne, a JK Dobbins and a Braylon Allen, one of those guys are going to rise to the top and what I mean by that is somebody is going to be a viable running back two option. It could be JK Dobbins to start the year. It could be Jalen Warren to start the year. One option it could be JK Dobbins to start the year. It could be Jalen Warren to start the year. One of those guys are going to end up being okay.
Speaker 1:I'm not super freaking out, but what also what's interesting to me is that picking at spot four, the receiver room, is. As happy as I am with the receivers I got, I'm also not overly thrilled. I absolutely hate the Zay Flowers pick. That is where I'm having troubles. I was really hoping Cortland Sutton would have been there instead of Zay Flowers. To me that is a big teardrop. I think Zay is very good. I think he's done a very quality job, but there's also too many things going on in that offense, with Derek Henry and Lamar being Lamar, and now they bring in D-Hop. They just re-signed Rashad Babin to a three-year deal, and now they also have Mark Andrews right, and Isaiah Likely when he's healthy. So for me, yes, I know Zay Flowers is their receiver one, but it also I don't necessarily like that pick, knowing that right, he's my receiver three, and it's just. I had to do it, though, and that's the shitty thing in a 14 team league, knowing it's three receiver. That's where I was pigeonholed, and so that was kind of rough. But then you back it with Jerry Judy and get a Jaden Higgins. It gives me some upside there.
Speaker 1:But what this team. What happened with this team is the bottom fell out real quick, right? So when I'm starting at the top there, there's not a lot of flexibility moving down. And then to see a bunch of quarterbacks go off the board was also extremely concerning. Because now I'm literally going to be looking at Trevor Lawrence, who could be fine or we could see what he's done historically, and it hasn't been that great and Tua, who's been pretty damn good historically, but he's one of the most injury-prone quarterbacks in the NFL injury-prone quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 1:So for me, I tried to maximize my quarterback play by pairing stacks like that of Trevor Lawrence, brendan Strange and Travis Etienne, and same thing with Tua Tagovailoa and that of Tyree Kill. Overall, if I did get a draft like this, I wouldn't be that terribly upset because right, johnny, you can attest to this, every single time that we end up drafting, our draft team looks completely different than our team by the end of the year because we're so active. But this one I gotta be real, guys Like it's not my favorite and I'm okay to admit that. I want to show you guys what this looks like and I would love to redo this draft If I could.
Speaker 2:Let me, let me ask you this I I'm looking at a few spots that maybe would make the team more attractive to you. Sure, rather than the Zay Flowers pick there, james Conner could have been your RB2. Could have been RB2. And then you could have come back and instead of ETN you could have grabbed Cooper Cup or Stefan Diggs Yep, that maybe would have made you like your team a lot more it that maybe would have made you like your team a lot more.
Speaker 2:It would have. It would have for sure. Yeah, yeah, but that's why we do mocks guys Totally. This is exactly why we do it, because you drafted a great team. I mean, this is a 14-team team or 14-team league guys. All right, not every team's got to be looking beautiful, it's just not. It gets real thin. But I think you made as you zigged. When you had to zag there at the end with quarterback and your tight ends, I I think he recovered really well from that frank.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right, let's take a look at my team drafting from the number nine spot here. Uh, let's see, break it down. I got beau nicks, mike isicky, quarterback and tight end running backs, jonathan taylor, isaiah pacheco, cam scataboo, austin eckler, kareem hunt and woody marks. Now, if you notice that my depth at running back, they're all very similar type of guys. These are PPR guys sharing a backfield, third down guys that are getting a lot of passes. That's what I want. I've got two anchors with Jonathan Taylor and Isaiah Pacheco and I've got some room to play there behind them.
Speaker 2:Receivers here I've got Amin Rasim Brown, marvin Harrison Jr, dk Metcalf and then Emeka Ekbuka in my flex with Trey Harris as a backup. I love, love, love that receiver room Absolutely. And, to be perfectly honest with you, I'll probably end up dropping Woody Marks and trying to grab the hot commodity receiver on the waiver wire, and then I've got some trade value too. So I really like that. But yeah, I like this team. I mean, this is a team I think I'd be very happy with drafting. What do you think about it, frank?
Speaker 1:John, I love your receivers. I was looking at your receivers the entire time and even though I keep saying I liked mine, I like yours better, I think there's a little bit more upside there and that's why I always stress in a three receiver league, take a receiver early. I mean shit, john. When I was actually looking to draft Jameer Gibbs, I was actually also thinking Amin Ra. I love Amin Ra and I have no problem in a three receiver league taking him at pick four, like I just want to be crystal clear. So. But I love that.
Speaker 1:The only place that I personally would have made a change personal opinion would be Isaiah Pacheco. For me, I would have probably taken the risk on Trevion Henderson, knowing that this is a PPR, knowing that it is a rookie, that would be the only thing. And then because then you're also not having to then use an additional pick on Kareem Hunt from that standpoint even though I do like the fact that you did lock that running back room down pretty well. But for me it could have been the standpoint of getting then Trevion Henderson, where you would have taken Pacheco there and then in that pick with Kareem Hunt, maybe it would be worth then taking somebody like a Ray Davis or somebody like that, to where, if James Cook gets traded or something along those lines, which we're hearing rumors, guys, we are hearing rumors that the Dallas Cowboys are extremely interested in James Cook as well as Ed Oliver and a first round pick for that of Micah Parsons. So if something like that happens, that changes a lot of shit. So that would be the only call out for me, man, I think the receivers you nailed them.
Speaker 1:Jonathan Taylor, I mean, yes, that is an anchor, and for those people they were. Actually there was a lot of people that were commenting on our stuff, talking about how I can't believe people would take Jonathan Taylor because of how bad the quarterback situation is at the Colts Guys. Reverse engineer that. That is why you want to take Jonathan Taylor at this point in time, even if it is Danny Dimes at quarterback, because he's going to be the judge, jury and executioner of that team. So for me, man, I think this is really well done. I really like the Bo Nix, but yeah, I might've taken a little flyer on Trevion maybe as my RB2.
Speaker 2:You know, I really thought about that, frankie. I really did, because I do like Trevion Henderson. I do want to take a chance on him. The reason I didn't is because I'll have to start the guy and in a 14 team league it gets so thin. I didn't want to take the chance on a pass-catching, maybe a role-player running back. I don't know how it's going to shake out. Yet Again, it's early August. Things could change two weeks from now. I might be all over Trevion Henderson, but I wanted that stability of my starting running backs, giving me a guaranteed workload. I don't know what Trevion Henderson's going to do. I really don't know what trevion henderson's gonna do. I really don't. But you're right, he could end up being really, really good. I it took me a minute to decide between the two because of the ppr scenario as well.
Speaker 2:That's exactly it yeah, I don't think it would have been that close of a choice for me if it was a half ppr no yeah, yeah, all right, all right.
Speaker 2:Excellent. Sounds good, frankie, great draft appreciated 14 team leagues. Guys are tough, especially double flex, because then you're losing more start. You have to start more players, much, much more difficult. So, guys, give us a shout. Put your comments below. Let us know how you think we did.
