Mock Draft: 12-Team 3WR Double Flex - Picking from 1, 2 & 3
Fantasy football draft strategy becomes crystal clear in this engaging mock draft where three experts attack a 12-team PPR league with expanded rosters (3WR/2FLEX) from the top three draft positions. What unfolds is a masterclass in adaptability, player evaluation, and roster construction that will transform how you approach your own draft.
Drafting from the second position presents unique challenges that we tackle head-on. Is Bijan Robinson worth the early investment, or should you prioritize an elite receiver like Justin Jefferson in a format that requires starting five pass-catchers? We explore both paths, revealing how your first-round decision cascades through your entire draft.
The mock showcases vastly different team-building approaches. From the "Hero WR" strategy starting with J'Marr Chase, to a naturally evolving Zero RB build anchored by Jefferson and Tyreek Hill, to a balanced approach seeking high-floor weekly contributors – you'll witness how each philosophy shapes decision-making throughout all rounds.
Hidden gems emerge as we progress, with players like Treveyon Henderson, Jerry Jeudy, and Mike Evans garnering passionate discussion about their potential to outperform their draft positions. Meanwhile, the debate around when to draft quarterbacks and tight ends reveals fascinating insights about positional value in this format.
Perhaps most valuable is our candid analysis after the draft, where we break down each team's strengths, vulnerabilities, and potential in-season moves. This transparent evaluation provides the blueprint you need to not just draft well, but to position yourself for season-long success through trades and waiver wire management.
Whether you're drafting at the top, middle, or end of your league, this mock draft delivers actionable strategy that will give you the confidence to make optimal decisions no matter how your draft unfolds.

What do we got going on, man.
Speaker 2:Oh boy, we got something special for you guys. I want to introduce our previous winner of our 14-team massive family league, who has not only been on once, not twice, not three times, guys, it's four or five times on the Frankly Fantasy Football Podcast. I want to introduce Matt McGlone here. Absolute badass man. Welcome to the show, brother, thanks boys, there we are.
Speaker 3:I'm Frank McBanis. Let's do it again. Let's run it back. You know, I will say you did a little bit of two-time champion in the family. That's true, two-time champion. Get that stat correction in there early.
Speaker 2:At their point. Good call and we don't Results.
Speaker 1:What's the team name? Matt? Let everybody know.
Speaker 3:Oh, diggs my Chubb, you know. Diggs, my Chubb Diggs my Chubb Diggs my Chubb.
Speaker 1:Hey, you're only going to be able to enjoy that for so long, man You're not going to have long for Diggs or for Chubb, by the way it's on the tingle end of the naming convention.
Speaker 3:So we'll we'll keep that in the back of the mind south gray.
Speaker 1:Welcome back to the show, man. We appreciate you. Can't wait to see what we do here. Guys, we're gonna do a mock draft today. Welcome to the show. Thank you for joining us. We got a mock mock draft. We're so excited. Here, guys, we've got a fan requested frankie. What are we doing? And who requested this mock draft? Shout out, guys to to 1G Will.
Speaker 2:1g Will shout out to you brother from YouTube. He came in and he's been following us. He was like, hey, we want to be able to see what's going on with Frankie drafts from the two spot and see where Johnny's drafting. And so we brought him back up with Matt McGlone to also help out. So 1G Will.
Speaker 1:I'm drafting from two to help you out. Let's this going, baby. All right, 1g will. Here we go. Let me get the draft board up here. What we're doing is we're gonna, we're gonna have a little sandwich up here. We're gonna have a little frank frankie sandwich at the top of this draft, so it's always the best sandwich hit it. Not enough meat in that sandwich, though a little light like a grilled cheese yeah, it's kind of like an impossible burger. It's just fake bullshit.
Speaker 1:Yeah it's just fake there's no, there's no substance too much bread, too much bun? Yeah, all right. So I'm gonna draft from the number one spot, frankie's gonna draft from the two, like our boy 1g will, and then matt's gonna draft from the number three. So we're gonna just be a log jam right here on this turn, all right, and I am on the clock, obviously from the number three. So we're going to just be a log jam right here on this turn, all right, and I am on the clock, obviously at the 101. This one's super easy for me. Guys Don't have to overthink this one In a three-receiver league, there's no question. It's Jamar Chase for me. Frankie, at the number two, where are you going, buddy?
Speaker 2:All right guys In a three-receiver league, receiver league two flex. This is where it gets a little dicey. At number two, but I'm not going to overthink this. I know it's three receiver. I'm still going to lock in my rb1 and for me, I'm going to go bijan, not bijan, for those interested it's bijan.
Speaker 1:And there you go, way to get the proper enunciation on that one it takes some time. It took some good job, is it saquon? Also Saquon and Bichon of course. Saquon and Bichon. That's right, and Jemire.
Speaker 3:And Jemire.
Speaker 1:All right, matt. You're at the number three spot here. Buddy, where are you going?
Speaker 3:Well, it is interesting that Frankie decided to go with the running back in that three wide receiver set, and I think I'm going to follow suit.
Speaker 1:Actually I'm going to go ahead and lock in uh judas here. I just think you know three wide receivers. There you go. Yeah, the reports are looking better for jj right now. He is on at practice. He's not doing a whole lot, and you wouldn't expect him to, but he's on the field, which is fantastic. He's going to be a target monster as long as he's healthy. Starting the season. Man with addison gone, nailers hurt. Jj's going to be peppered, peppered all right. After j, after JJ, we had Amon Ross, st Brown, saquon Barkley, jameer Gibbs, puka Nakua, derek Henry, ceedee Lamb, christian McCaffrey, derek H or Devon H and Ashton Gentry on the turn, followed up with Malik neighbors Love that pairing on that 12 spot. Yeah, coming into round two, we've got Nico Collins, collins, aj brown, brian thomas, jr josh allen, first quarterback taken there, middle of the second drake. London brock bowers, first tight end taken middle of the second. Josh jacobs and lamar jackson, matt mcglone you are on the clock, your uh second pick here. Second round yes.
Speaker 3:So again with the wide receiver three, three positionals that you have to play, I just think you got to go wide receiver here. And there's a guy I think that you know last year was kind of a down year for him, but you know he's come out in the press and he said he's finally mastered his offense. He didn't know what he was doing. I'm going to go with Tyreek Hill. I like the big play potential. Miami is going to be an okay team this year so I think they're going to be able to throw down feel a little bit better than in the previous season.
Speaker 1:All right, we will pause for Frankie to go ahead with his love for crying with my tears, my tears. You might as well.
Speaker 2:My fucking tears, matt. Thanks, I get another running back here, right. Might as well All right.
Speaker 1:Where are you going, Frank?
Speaker 2:So I got. So looking at two again, I drafted bijan. So this is really tough and I want to describe this because right now there is a ton of running backs that really could be stellar for your rb2. I mean, you got bucky irving, jonathan taylor, kyron williams, chase brown. I love them all From a receiver perspective. This is the issue, right. Tyreek Hill for me was that teardrop, because now, like, do I take a reach for Ladd McConkie being my number one, maybe T Higgins being my number one? So really, I got to weigh the pros and cons. I got to get a receiver here. This is what I'm going to do, knowing this is a three receiver, two flex league. But I'm going to go down the board a bit. I'm actually going to lock in Garrett Wilson. I just think he gives me a high floor from my receiver perspective, just in case if Ladd-McConkie and JSN and things of that nature don't pan out. I feel like Garrett Wilson's a safe bet, so I'm locking him in all right, I like that.
Speaker 1:Frank. All right, I'm on the turn here. So if there's guys that I need and I want, I have to take. So obviously I'm thinking I got Jamar Chase. Am I thinking about the Joe Burrow stack? Is he going to make it back to me? If I do that, I don't know I might have to take him on this three, the second pick here on the turn. I don't think I'm going to do that, guys.
Speaker 1:I'm going to go a different route here. We've seen a lot of the Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow stacks. We all know what that looks like. I'm going to go a different direction. I'm going to lock down. There's a couple of workhorse running backs, only a couple really left. I want to lock one of these guys in guys and it could be a hero RB strat. It just depends on what things look like going through the rest of the draft. But I'm going to go with Jonathan Taylor here, guys. He is one of the few workhorse running backs in the league. Three down back and getting the goal line and getting the receiving out of the backfield. I've watched the Colts. I see what's happening with their quarterbacks right now. So that means I'm all over their running game because I think they're going to have to lean heavily on it. So I'm all over that.
Speaker 1:For my second pick here, I'm going to do a little something I don't typically do. I never am able to get this guy and I'm going to see if I can put together a good team with him. It's Trey McBride tight end, Second tight end really off the board typically, but I'm going to go with Trey McBride and see. Maybe I'll come up with a little stack later on involving Trey. All right, Frankie, at the number two spot, you've got Bajon.
Speaker 2:Robinson and Garrett Wilson. What are you going to do next? Yeah, guys. So again, three receiver, two flex. Right now I can really do anything. So, from a running back perspective, bucky Irving, kyron Williams, chase Brown still on the board I love really all three of those guys.
Speaker 2:At this point, right, none of them are going to be my RB1, so I really love that. But again, there's going to be another huge drop off at receiver, knowing that when it comes back to my turn. So I think I'm going to go ahead and actually slightly reach from the receiver perspective. Now, the receiver that I choose. This is tough. Right, when you look at Ladd McConkie, you have JSN, you have T Higgins, marvin Harrison Jr, mike Evans Again, none of those guys. It's really tough. I'm actually going to go and reach a little bit. I want Mike Evans. I want a guy who's had 11,000-yard seasons. We know Chris Godwin. Yeah, he's off the pup, but from everything we're hearing guys, he is not going to be expected to return until October. And so, knowing that there's a Mecca Abuka and knowing that also Jalen McMillan is now heard guys, it's Mike Evans, it. And knowing that also Jalen McMillan is now heard guys, it's Mike Evans, it's his show.
Speaker 1:So I'm locking him in as my receiver too. All right Sounds good. Matt, you've got two good receivers here with Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill. Who are you going to pair them up with?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so for me I don't always implement this strategy before I go into the drafts, but it always tends to work out that zero RB is what happens when I draft and it just so happens again that this is the way we're looking. Frankie, you mentioned all the running backs. I just like Bucky Irving kind of you know, is high on a lot of people's boards but you know, with Liam Cohen leaving they just have so many running backs in that room I just don't know if he's a true workhorse guy for an RB1 spot, so I don't really see the value in him. Of the wide receivers you mentioned, I'm glad you went with Mike Evans because I'm going to lock in Jackson Spitz and Jigba because I think Seattle is flying under the radar.
Speaker 3:I know people are thinking Sam Darnold can't play outside of Kevin O'Connell's system. Watch out for Seattle. They're plus 550 to win the NFC West. I could see that then being a playoff team and I think they're going to throw the ball out and I really think he could be towards top 20 play for wide receiver this year.
Speaker 1:That's a great pick, matt. I mean I'm not a huge JSN guy but as my wide receiver three, yes, the upside there could be absolutely massive. So I'm digging that big time man Love it. Yeah, all right. After JSN we had Kyron Williams, ladd McConkie, t Higgins, bucky Irving, brees, hall, jaden Daniels, jalen Hurts, uh, Chase Brown, alvin Kamara, james Cook coming into the turn into round four, omarion Hampton, marvin Harrison Jr, george Kittle, chuba Hubbard, sam Laporta, devontae Adams, terry McLaurin and DK Metcalf. Wow, a lot of names to list when we're the top three picks. You know we don't get picks for a long time here, guys. Okay, so, matt, you're back on the clock. You got a trio of receivers here, a lot of upside with JJ, tyreek and JSN. Now what are you going to do?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think for me. I'm going to look at a running back here. I'm just looking at the wide receiver value. I don't see a whole lot. I know Rasheed Rice is still there, but with his impending suspension I really don't want to take a risk here, especially when I need to play two running backs and I have all three wide receiver spots still. So, looking at running back, I could go with Kenneth Walker, but I'm not a big fan of having the double stack wide receiver running back on the same team. I do know that Mike McDonald likes to run the ball, but again, I just feel like Sam Donald's going to be thrown a lot more.
Speaker 3:Kenneth Walker can't stay healthy and Zach Charbonnet is in the backfield. This guy, I know people will say, oh well, he can't stay healthy either. But James Conner is a guy I feel like you know in fantasy. You don't want to be a year too late. You know it kind of would be a year early. I feel like this might be James Conner's last late year before we kind of faded him. So I'm going to take a flyer on James Conner and roll miles by everyone.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean great pick, man. I know people are scared about James Conner, but and say that he's injury prone. I mean last year he played 16 games. The two years prior to that were 13 games and 15, 13. So yeah, I mean he's got that where he's going to miss a handful of games here and there, but injury prone, I mean it's not really a thing you know. So if people are scared of James Conner for that reason, I think it's silly. He is still a workhorse. He does have a young rookie behind him that I think is going to dig in a little bit more. He's just too important to that team though. So he is a great pick there, man. Great value. All right, frank, at the number two for our boy. What are you going to show him here, frank?
Speaker 2:You know, John, I would love to screw you here and I would love to take Joe.
Speaker 2:Burrow, because I know you know, I know you're going for the stack, I know what's happening here, but I need to fill out my team. So, looking at it, I got Bijan Robinson, garrett Wilson, mike Evans really well rounded and for me I'm going to actually take a risk. And for 1G, will I want to show you what it's like in a typical in a three receiver, two flex league. If you do choose Bijan, what you would be looking at right, assuming Tyreek Hill is not the guy that falls to you Cause. Again, for me there's that teardrop and so I went for Garrett Wilson, but I do want to sure up the running back room a little bit more.
Speaker 2:I feel like there's going to be another drop and I'm willing to take a risk due to how well this rookie has played in the preseason. Guys, for me it's Trevion Henderson. For what we have seen from him for the Patriots offense, he's been electric. I mean, when you're taking your first NFL snap to the yard, returning that kickoff return and he scored again in the most recent preseason game. Guys, the dude is primed and ready for a massive, massive opportunity. So for me I'm willing to pair Trevion Henderson with Bijan Robinson and we'll see how this pans out.
Speaker 1:I love that. I'm all over Trevion Henderson man, I really am. I just think he's going to be fantastic and with somebody like Ramondre being the guy to keep him off the field. Listen, ramondre fumbles one time. Trevion's playing the rest of the game, you know, and we're talking massive, massive PPR value here. So I love that man.
Speaker 1:All right, I am on the clock here on the turn in picks four and five. I've got Jamar Chase, jonathan Taylor, trey McBride. I do have a little strategy I am going to do here and it could have a little strategy I am going to do here and it could be a little bit of a hero. Rb situation here. It's a three receiver, two flex leagues. So, guys, we need to load up. We need a stable of receivers on these teams here.
Speaker 1:I don't want to miss out on guys that I like. There are two receivers. I'm going to double tap right here We've got Cortland Sutton, and then I'm going down a little bit and I'm going to grab a guy that I love and it's going to be Tedaroa McMillan. Guys, it is all about volume with these two. They are the two ones young, second third-year quarterbacks ready to go. So I love these guys. Man, give me some upside. All right, frank, you're on the clock here. What are we at here? Fifth round you've got Bajon Robinson, garrett Wilson, mike Evans and Trevion Henderson Well-balanced team. Where are you going to go?
Speaker 2:All right, guys, I'm going to go back to the wallet receiver here. I'm not even going to look at tight end, not even going to look at quarterback. Three receiver league, two flex Got to bolster that a little bit more no-transcript.
Speaker 1:I just have Sutton a little bit higher and I just feel a little better and more confident with Sutton than I do over DJ Moore. I'm still a little worried about that Bears offense. I am a huge fan of Ben Johnson. I mean, obviously there's going to be some improvements there. Everything should work. The offensive line greatly improved. They're going to have a great offensive line, good defense. They've got a million weapons on this team. I'm just nervous. Is that silly? You know? Are you guys feeling that too, or what?
Speaker 2:I mean Caleb Williams makes me a little nervous. I think that what he's shown in the preseason hasn't been super great, and when I mean preseason I mean camp, and so that makes me a little bit nervous. It does. And I think that Keenan Allen leaving and saying some of the things that he said about the offense and specifically about Caleb Williams, right, it doesn't make me feel warm and cozy. So, to your point, yeah, it does make me. I'm a little uneasy as a whole for the Bears offense.
Speaker 1:There is a degree of where I pay attention to vibes in camp when I'm drafting teams and the vibes just aren't good. If teams are fighting and not getting along or they can't consistently say good things about their team that are true, that's kind of a red flag for me. You know's, it's a reason why I took sutton and tet mcmillan over dj moore is what I'm saying. All right, matt mcglone, you've got jj tyreek, jsn and james connor, fifth pick here. Where are you gonna go?
Speaker 3:oh yeah, just an echo. Back on dj more. You forgot to mention the all-important alameda is the keyest you know once. Once he's in a wide receiver room, you got to watch out for that guy. He's a target stealer, as we saw on the preseason. He's a guy that's kind of underrated.
Speaker 1:He's one of those guys that he'll go in the back and he'll kick the guy's hamstrings or he'll pinch their Achilles while they're sleeping or something. They wake up and go. What the hell? That's how he gets on the field, so much, that's right.
Speaker 3:Gotta watch that guy. So, talking about my pick now again with the three wide receivers, got a good room there, so feeling pretty confident. So looking to fill an RB2 spot and what I'm looking for here is just a safe floor. There are some options out there, but I still think this Detroit team is going to have a pretty good offense and we see David Montgomery get a lot of goal line work. I know Jameer Gibbs is there, but I just like the floor that he provides and from an RB2 spot it's really going to just help round out my whole starting lineup. So I'm going to lock in David Montgomery as my RB2.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like that pick. It's super safe, you know it's super safe. I'm not sure what his ceiling looks like, but if you want a safe RB2 that you know is going to be on the field and getting his share, david Montgomery's a great pick for that. Yeah, All right. Then we had Kenneth Walker, joe Burrow. There goes my stack, frankie. Listen, guys, it's a three receiver double flex league. As much as I want that stack, I am waiting on quarterback. Okay, there are way too many receivers. I need to start on a weekly basis. All right, kenneth Walker, joe Burrow, rasheed Rice, patrick Mahomes, devonta Smith, jamo Williams, jamison Williams, xavier Worthy, zay Flowers, isaiah Pacheco and Calvin Ridley on the turn. Then we have Baker Mayfield coming into round six, tj hockinson, rj harvey, uh. George pickens, jaylen waddle, aaron jones, travis kelsey and travis hunter, matt mcglone you're back on the clock. Three receivers, two running backs. You're in the sixth round. Where are you going now?
Speaker 3:there's a guy again, uh, looking for a wide receiver one at this point. Uh, you know, having just gone with two running backs, so just looking to have have a little depth at wide receiver. Obviously, the offense might not be very good this year, but we do have a 40-year-old quarterback who likes to throw the ball deep. There's a guy on my radar and I know if I'm not taking beer, frankie's taking it, you son of a bitch.
Speaker 3:I'm looking at Jerry Judy Towards the end of last season I think he was wide receiver like five with the quarterback rotation we had going on and what we saw Joe Flacco in Cleveland is he likes to throw the ball. Obviously Jameis Winston did. They were targeting Jerry Judy. I just think at this point in the draft, when we're talking about three wide receivers, take a flyer on this guy. You know he's our wide receiver one?
Speaker 1:He certainly is. And hey, we got Flacco in flacco retrust. That's all you need for a couple of games. You're going to be fine with him. Yeah, browns are going to lose their first four games. They're going to be trailing, they're going to have to throw the ball. Jerry judy's probably going to come out of the gates. Super hot, super. Yeah. All right, frankie, you are at the 6 11. Where are you All?
Speaker 2:right guys. So from a running back perspective, I had Bajon and Trevion Henderson and for my receivers I have Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, dj Moore. So really it's open. So I could look at quarterback. I could potentially look to get Bo Nix somebody along those lines. I could look at tight end. I could get Mark Andrews Ingram.
Speaker 2:Again, neither of those are really appealing because I still need to continue to get depth and fill out my team, especially the starters, knowing this is a two flex. So in the running back standpoint there's a few interesting options. There's Joe Mixon, deandre Swift, tony Pollard Quinn, sean Judkins, or I could look to Chris Olave, jacoby Myers, debo, samuel Cooper, cup Guys. This is really interesting. But I am going to actually take a little bit more of a riskier pick. I'm not sure if I really believe in Chris Alave to the level of what he's shown. I mean Tyler Shug and things like that, and Spencer Rattler and the issues that the Saints have had and the health issues that Alave's had. Knowing that this is a flex piece, I don't know if I want to go there.
Speaker 2:So for me, I'm actually going to do Jacoby Myers and again I'm going for super high floor. I want something safe. I'm not going for the ceiling play here. I need to make sure that this is well-rounded because, quite honestly, guys, all of none of my players really outside of Bajon are really home run, fully home run, boom type of hitters.
Speaker 2:Right, because I mean, garrett Wilson will probably be a 12, 13 point a week. You know, mike Evans, probably around the same DJ more, maybe 10 to 11. And Jacoby Myers is probably going to be floating around that. So I want to make sure, if I can't get any of those big boom players and what I mean by that is like a Jerry Judy and Matt that's exactly who I was going to go for, knowing that we've seen him explode last year against the Broncos, or like a high flyer, like again in second round with Tyreek Hill, to where the upside is just crazy through the ceiling. If you can't get that, then make sure. Then you're treading water, you're covering all of your bases and that's what Jacoby Myers brings to the team.
Speaker 1:That's a great call. I think people sleep on Jacoby Myers. They really do. He's the receiver one guys on the team, he's not the number one target.
Speaker 2:It's Brock Bowers On a Geno Smith QB team.
Speaker 1:Right, he's got Geno Smith now. I mean he's a younger, healthier version of Tyler Lockett that Geno Smith had played with. So yeah, I love the Jacoby, especially in a PPR. I think he's going to be really sneaky in PPR Definitely. And yeah, the Chris Olave thing, I mean Olave's really off my board. Man, I just it's sad. I'm an Ohio State guy, I love that, but man, I just I can't do it.
Speaker 1:You know, the fact that they can't decide which of those two quarterbacks should start scares the shit out of me. That their receivers are going to suffer. You know I haven't seen anything really good come out of that New Orleans team right now. All right, guys, my pick here I'm on the turn I'm going to be looking at. I am still going to hold off on quarterback again. Three receivers, two flexes, full PPR. You must prioritize that.
Speaker 1:I am going to look at a running back here, guys. There's one guy that I really really like, especially with news coming out of camp. It's Tony Pollard as a wide receiver, running back two. Having waited this long to grab one to the sixth round, tony Pollard is a great, great grab there in the sixth round, guys, tajay Spears is banged up. I don't know if he's going to be starting the season. I believe it was a high ankle sprain. This was typically about four weeks, so Tony Pollard may have week one or two by himself. So I'm going to take that At receiver here.
Speaker 1:I'm going to go down the board a little bit, guys. I'm on the turn. Don't be afraid to scroll down a bit. You're not going to see any of these guys. Take the one you want. That is going to go in this round. I'm going to go with an old head man. I'm going with an old head here, baby, and I'm sorry the value is absurd. He was one of our great values. That we did in a previous episode. Go check that out, guys.
Speaker 1:But the news out of camp I like positive vibes. Like I said, there are serious positive vibes out of this guy in camp and we haven't seen positive. This is not this guy's thing. Is positive vibes by any means. I'm talking about Stefan Diggs, Wide receiver one for the New England Patriots. Guys, vibes are great out there and he is the one out there right now. Competition's rookie Kyle Williams. He's a rookie. It's going to take a while. We've seen that in camp. He's not coming out hot right out the gates here. It's Stefan Diggs, so I'm going to take advantage of that and a full PPR, let's go. All right, frank, we are 7.2. You are on the clock.
Speaker 2:All right, guys.
Speaker 2:So listen, I know that my running back depth right now is depleted, and right now I don't have the ability to also reach for another receiver because I think that by the time it gets back around to me, the running back depth is going to be even worse. So I have to take a swing here, and one of the areas that I am going to take a swing and I know I'm going to have to sit I know I don't have my team filled out either, because I'm missing a flex. He's not going to be able to start, but this is a long-term play it's Joe Mixon. I'm locking in Mixon because let's assume he comes back, even if it's week four, maybe week five, even in that realm. I can then take Trevion Henderson with his PPR upside and move him to that additional flex piece. And now it looks like I would have Joe Mixon pairing that with Bajon and right. Yeah, I know it's going to be a two-headed tandem with him and potentially Nick Chubb and, dare I say, woody Marks starts getting involved from a receiver perspective.
Speaker 1:But I still think Damian Pierce and.
Speaker 2:Damian Pierce. I still think, though, joe Mixon's talent level for getting him in the seventh round here. Guys, knowing that I'll have the ability to sit on him there's only upside, so I'm willing to take the risk and see how this pans out.
Speaker 1:I mean, if you have to wait, if you can wait three to five weeks for him to have the backfield by himself again and be fully healthy, Fine, you know, if your team can do that, absolutely great, because it'll help you. Yeah, come week, four or five, no question. All right, matt, what do you got here buddy?
Speaker 3:So just looking at the list I mean Frankie again, names off, everybody you know just just thinking of who I'm going to go with here and we were talking about things on a can. What's going on with Washington again, looking at my roster right now, really just looking to kind of fill out the lineup, really don't want to reach on a tight end. I, you know, we know the tight end dead zone right, we know what that is. No need to reach quarterbacks again, no need to reach, just looking to add some value here. And I think Debo Samuel is a guy you know. Obviously he was traded for.
Speaker 3:We don't know what's going on with Thaddeus McLaurin. The offense is explosive. We saw him play, you know, the one drive in the preseason and he reeled off the run. Let's see what he's all about. I think he's a good value for me at this. Second flex spot Could be a potential wide receiver, one looking to trade to somebody you know down the line if he does pan out. But you know, for me, looking at the floor again, as my fifth wide receiver, I'm going to go ahead and lock them in.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, no issue at all. As your fifth wide receiver, frankie, how are you feeling right now? We haven't talked about Debo in a few weeks, actually, probably. Where are you currently with Debo, because I think it's an interesting pick? But, man, I still don't know what to expect out of this.
Speaker 2:Guys, I actually am all over Debo. I think what we saw from him being able to take that particular run that he had right through pretty much that right side of that offensive line, it was exactly what I would assume that the commanders would do in this type of offense, right. And so for me, I'm actually growing higher and higher on Debo Samuel, especially with some of the issues with Terry McLaurin and a lot of things from him being unsigned so far from or, excuse me, extended so far this offseason. I think Debo Samuel is a easy peasy if he's not receiver one on the team, he's receiver two and it's locked in. And then you layer on the ability of the rushing attack.
Speaker 2:Guys, with Bryan Robinson Jr gone right who was kind of that brute force back, we've seen Debo be able to do that in a goal line type of setting. And yeah, I know we heard Chris Rodriguez and things like that will be taking some of that goal line. I got to see it to believe it, right. So for me, man, I really am growing on Debo Samuel, especially when you can get him in that seventh, eighth round yeah, agreed, man, love it all.
Speaker 1:Right, matt, you are back on the clock here. It is the 8.10 pick. What are you going to do here, buddy?
Speaker 3:so let's takea look at who's available. Could it go quarterback here, could go tight end, but again, I'm just, I'm all about the value. I just feel like running backs, wide receivers are what you need to be looking at at this portion of the draft, looking at what others have taken off the board like tight end wise, I will say evan ingram was a tight end. I was maybe hoping to grab right here, but I'm seeing you went out before I get him. Um, just somebody I kind of had my eye on.
Speaker 3:So just kind of looking at the running backs and seeing who's available. Not really seen a whole lot. But again, from a wide receiver perspective, this guy, juwan Jennings, san Francisco we don't know what's going on with that. You know he's going to be out a while. I know Ricky Pearsall is there, I know Jennings is hurt, but again, again, if he does prove to be healthy and for me with the wide receiver depth, I think for me it's a good value play right here again, potentially looking at grades down the line and just kind of providing that depth in the three wide receiver league all right, sounds good, frankie.
Speaker 1:Moving on here to the 8.11 spot, where are you going, man?
Speaker 2:yeah, guys. So I am actually looking at receiver or tight end, and the reason why I'm saying tight end is because for me there's a rookie here that I just think he has the opportunity to be tight end one. And, guys, knowing that Daniel Jones has taken over that particular QB, one spot opens up the offense a bit more. From the passing attack We've seen Anthony Richardson not be able to really throw the ball very much at all in any sort of way in an effective manner. So for me I am willing to take this guy and take him a little bit early, and it's going to be Tyler Warren. I just think that the upside's there. I think that he can return potentially double the value, and so why not take a shot on him? And then I'll come back and get that running back or tight end, as necessary.
Speaker 1:I love that pick man. I love him this year. I'm telling you, this is the guy who has the opportunity to be this year's Brock Bowers, this year's Sam Laporta. It's that middle round rookie. It's the fucking same archetype man. He is those guys. I love him this year. I'm trying to grab him.
Speaker 1:If I hadn't had Trey McBride, frankie, I'd have probably taken him from you the round before. To be perfectly honest, yeah, all right On the turn here. For me it is round eight and nine. I'm looking at a couple of guys. There's a lot of receivers actually in this round that I like, in this area that I like, but I'm going to go with a guy that I'm sorry I'm. I cannot stop drafting this guy no-transcript Mayfield. So I am digging that All right. Now it's time for me to come back and get my quarterback. I was eyeing maybe a Bo Nix stack potentially, but he went. I was trying to hold off as long as I could with him, but I am going to go with Kyler Murray here to pair him up at Trey McBride. Guys, if you hadn't seen our episode just dropped a few days ago, we talked about stacks and the Kyler Murray Trey McBride stack is one that I certainly love, so I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. Frankie, nice, all right, frankie, round nine. Where are you going here, buddy?
Speaker 2:All right, guys, I need to start filling out more receivers here, because right now I have Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, dj Moore, jacoby Myers and, remember, I took Joe Mixon, which is tough right, because that's where I'm missing that additional starting piece, and so I'm trying to have my team be able to sit until Joe Mixon comes back. So I need to plug and play someone, and right now, from a receiver perspective guys, it's looking like Jaden Reed, josh Downs, jaden Higgins, michael Pittman, keon Coleman, brandon Ayuk. I mean, really, I would take Jaden Higgins here 10 out of 10 times. Typically, I'm taking him, however, knowing he was operating as receiver three slightly behind that of Christian Kirk.
Speaker 2:Yes, he's on the starting rotation, though, but I just think, man, there's something going on with Danny Dimes, and I know it's crazy to say that, but I'm willing to take a risk, and I'm not saying Danny Dimes, by the way, is going to be throwing 4,000 yards or anything like that, but I really believe in and when he's throwing the ball, look at what he was able to do with Malik neighbors, look at what he was able to do with some of these other guys from the receiver one perspective that he's had before. There was a connection there. So for me I'm actually going to go. Michael Pittman Jr. I want to make sure that that fourth or that second flex spot again is more of a high floor kind of guy. Sure, he might have seven receptions and 65 yards, something I'm going to have to live with, but in a full PPR that's still double digit points. So for me I'm looking at Michael Pittman Jr, pairing him with Tyler Warren, hoping one of those two guys pop per week.
Speaker 1:What did I tell you, though? I was watching, really watching, every play I could for the Indianapolis Colts. I'm texting Frankie going holy shit, I think MPJ is going to be relevant this year because I'm just watching and watching the scheme and what they were doing. It was all Pittman, it was all Warren. I mean, it was just bang, bang, bang. I think Josh Downs might be the odd man out in this offense, you know, but that's it's preseason. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but, man, they're certainly forcing a rapport between Pittman and Danny Dimes. That was definitely evident. So he climbed on my board. I'm much more interested and not as scared of those receivers in Indy after watching it. So I love it, man. All right, matt, where are you at, man?
Speaker 3:Yeah, to your point. I think Shane Steichen's finally found somebody who can run his offense and actually knows how to call, call the protections at the line of scrimmage, as we saw him get put up, I think, in the baltimore preseason game. Uh, so, yeah, I, I do like. I feel like indie players are again kind of similar to seattle flying under the radar, like you know. Oh, we're writing them off. They're gonna be terrible. Um, yeah, I think that's a good pick there, uh, for me, uh, only having two running backs looking, looking to have some depth here. And when we're talking about a PPR lead, I know this guy. I think I saw a stat he has never had more than 15 carries in a game. But talking about PPR in the offense, with Aaron Rodgers there, we saw a little bit of Brees Hall. Get the check down, king, take my chance with the Jalen Warren. I know Caleb Johnson's there, but he's more of a bigger. Why are you running back? Don't seem to catch a lot of balls. I see Jalen.
Speaker 1:Warren playing a decent, nice chunk in this offense? Absolutely yeah. I mean, his role's established. You know it's not. They're not going to have the rookie running the ball. You know 30, 40 times a game Jalen Warren's going to be involved, absolutely yeah. And in pass blocking too. You're not going to see Caleb Johnson out there pass blocking for Aaron Rodgers, trust me. All right, you're right back on the clock here, matt, in the 10th round. Where are you going to go?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so you know there's some values out there. Who am I looking for here? I still don't have one at this point, probably just going to wait until the end of the draft, really not going to try to force anything Wide receiver-wise. You know, I've been watching a little bit of hard knocks. Keion Coleman is available, but I just I don't know what's going on with that offense. I don't Just Joshua Palmer is there, keir is there, like it's just I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 1:It's an opportunity. Up for the taking, Matt. What do you mean?
Speaker 3:B-wide receiver, one with how much focus he's been getting. True, I know they talk everybody up in Buffalo and then each season it's really just Josh Allen, like I know James Cook, but there's. No, I'm not doing it. I feel like this guy right here. I'm going to take Darnell Looney Again. I know he's hurt, but Michael Penix is a deep ball thrower and what we saw Darnell Looney do with Kurt Cousley last year, I think you know there's a good chance again. From a value perspective he has a pretty high ceiling, so I'm going to lock him in. I mean, hopefully it gets healthier as we progress here, but for me, just having that wide receiver depth.
Speaker 1:I like him All right, I like it.
Speaker 2:Frankie, you are round 10. Where are you going here, man? All right guys. So this is interesting because I'm not sure what Johnny's going to do. So this is where I'm really focused on the guy that's in front of me that has two picks, because there are three guys I'm targeting and I only have right two picks to do it, and so this is critical for the team. So 1G Will. This is where it's going to make or break it. All right.
Speaker 2:So looking at the team right now, you got Bajon Robinson, trevion Henderson, joe Mixon. What that tells me is I'm very uneasy about my running back room because I have to wait until Joe Mixon comes back. But also my receivers are all high floor guys. So you've got Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, dj Moore, jacoby Myers, michael Pittman Jr. And I really do like the Tyler Warren pick because, especially with Michael Pittman, I'm going to hit on one of those guys more than likely on one particular week. So, looking at what we have, matt, you nailed it. I mean, from a receiver perspective, I do like Keon Coleman. There's a guy I will be kind of targeting him. However, from a running back standpoint, I have to sure that up Guys. Nick Chubb is on the board and I'm drafting Nick Chubb here and the reason being is because of Joe Mixon and Matt Gold.
Speaker 2:You know you call it right, but I am going to take Nick Chubb there because of the way my team's constructed as well, Houston, because now what this does is, at least for the first few weeks, I can fill out my flex spot either with Michael Pittman Jr or Nick Chubb at that point in time. So for me I really like this pick. It makes me feel a lot better about that running back room.
Speaker 1:We all knew. You know we should have put a bet, matt. We talked about it in like round two. I think that Frankie was going to take Nick Chubb.
Speaker 2:I had to.
Speaker 1:Come on, somebody digs your Chubb, matt. Yeah, it's Frankie. It's Frankie.
Speaker 3:I know you love the name. So Johnny does the digs, frankie does the Chubb, you know I just that's right.
Speaker 2:Frankie has a Chubb from drafting him as well.
Speaker 1:That's right. Yeah, but when you made that name they weren't going in the seventh and tenth rounds.
Speaker 3:You know, no kidding.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh right, the fall off is coming yeah, oh yeah, god, it was well two years ago. Those guys were first and second round picks, I think right that's right, something like that yeah, all right, frankie.
Speaker 1:Well, you're not going to get all the guys that you like. Uh, because I do like a couple of these guys. I am going to go with Keon Coleman guys. We talked about it in our stacks episode. I want a piece of Josh Allen. I'm never, ever going to be able to draft him because I just never take quarterbacks that high unless it's a super flex. So I want a piece of that offense man. I'm going to get a piece of Keon Coleman. I don't know if he's going to be the one. Like you said, there's a lot to work out. Still, shakir's banged up. I just think Keon Coleman has an opportunity to be on the field, so let's just hope that he can build a rapport with Josh Allen.
Speaker 1:I'm going to look at some running back depth here too, guys, and what I'm going to do this is totally not somebody that was ever on my radar until recently. But again, matt said that the trigger word for me it's like my CIA MK ultra trigger word it's Liam Cohen. We don't go a single episode, matt, without talking about Liam. We don't. But I'm sorry. I've been watching and I just think Liam Cohen is going to turn this Jacksonville backfield into what they did last year. It's almost an identical clone of a backfield of what they had with Rashad White and with Bucky. Now you've got Tank Bigsby and you've got Travis.
Speaker 1:Etienne, I mean it's almost exactly like that. Can Liam Cohen turn Tank Bigsby into this year's Bucky Irving, maybe? Maybe he got a lot of run in the preseason. I mean, he looked really good, so he's running a lot of those same routes. He's running a lot of the same you know scheme that he did with Bucky. I want to give it a shot. That is absolutely a possibility. This is for running back depth. If you can get something like that and catch gold, love it baby. Okay, frankie, we're getting down towards the end here. Man, real close here. You got a couple of picks left, frankie. It's round 11. Why don't you give us a little breakdown of your team and tell us where you're going All?
Speaker 2:right guys, round 11. Here We've got Bijan Robinson and Trevion Henderson You're welcome as my top two running backs. I also have Joe Mixon and the Chubber right, nick Chubb. That way, I got a little bit of that tandem. And then, from a receiver perspective, we got Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, dj Moore, jacoby Myers, michael Pittman Jr. And to pair with that, I got Tyler Warren.
Speaker 2:Guys, there's a receiver on the board I have to take, and this is a guy I honestly might be starting day one. It's Keenan Allen. I think that he's absolutely being slept on, I think, with him already having news coming out that the first practice that he was at, it's like he never left the Chargers in 2023, and everything's seeming like he's picking up right where he left off. And, fun fact, there's already issues from a health perspective within the receiver room. It looks like Quentin Johnson's a little bit banged up. Right, we've seen trey harris not being able to catch the ball very well, which is pretty crazy to see in preseason. So, really, guys, it's lad mcconkie, and then who it's? It's gonna be keenan allen. So for me, I love getting this dude where I got him in round 11 yeah, really cool.
Speaker 1:Okay, they're gonna move both those guys around the field because they'll both be on the field at the same time, I guarantee it. So, yeah, it'll be really cool to see man Love it. All right, matt, round 11. Why don't you list off your team here and tell us what you're doing next?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so we got Jefferson Hill Smith and Jigba Connor Montgomery. I really like Jerry Judy. Looking back this year I I just feel like that's going to be good value right there. Deebo Samuel Juan Jennings, taylor Ward, darnell Looney. So really looking to add an RB here. Just again has some depth.
Speaker 3:I'm not looking to roll out a starter right now, just somebody that has some depth in case one of my high floor guys were to get hurt or something like that. Speaking of being hurt, this guy, he's hurt from a firework incident but I just like the situation that naji harris is in. I know like the whole fireworks explosion happened but being in a great roman offense and yeah and dim harball you, basically he tried to recruit naji harris right come to michigan. Couldn't get him but he was so excited when he signed, when they got him to sign, uh, I just I know he's hurt but again, at this point in the draft I'm not looking for a starter, just somebody who I can kind of have he's. He becomes a starter, um, and I know the mmar in hampton, everybody's big on him but rookie running backs it hit or miss sometimes with harris yeah, I mean the thing, the issue with nausea.
Speaker 1:It is weird. I mean there's only so many things you can do with an eye. You know he's just, but it could be a few weeks, guys. I mean I I'm not seeing any new information yet, but we'll get you. We'll get you some right before the draft here on our next episode. But, um, yeah, he may be out the first couple of weeks until they you know they don't want to take any shots with that eye, cause you know what do they call that? What's the lens thing that can pop out? What do they call that?
Speaker 3:Cornea Is it? Cornea Is it cornea?
Speaker 1:I don't know, I'm not a doctor, it's typically your femur if I remember correctly, If I do.
Speaker 2:I'm pretty sure I'm correct it's a femur.
Speaker 1:What's the little punching bag in the back of your? We know football guys, we don't know medical shit. Come on, I don't know, it's an eye, you know. All right, all right, but anyway, uh, nausea will be off the field for a little bit. Hopefully we can get him back. But good pick there, man. All right, we got three picks left here. Matt mcglone, where are you gonna go? Look at you just loading up on tie on receivers and running backs. That's it. You don't even look at any other positions.
Speaker 3:Look at that no, I, I don't. But in this case, like how frankie projected earlier, right, he's looking at the person picking ahead of him. Right, I know we're coming around the turn. I don't have a quarterback. I know you have or no. Yeah, you took kyler murray. I know frankie doesn't have one, so I know frankie might be eyeing one here in the next two picks. Um, so, so for me, I'm, I'm looking for the stack. You know, everybody's afraid, but I'm, I believe in kevin o'connell, and we've seen it with kirk cousins, with sand arnold. So you know, jj mccarthy, let's, let's, let it fly all right, let's roll.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that was not mentioned in our stacks episode, just so you know, but sure, why not? I mean, we have seen JJ I mean, be an absolute beast with every quarterback he's had, so why not JJ McCarthy as well? Agreed.
Speaker 3:And he does have some rushing upside. I do want to mention that too. He does. That does get overlooked. So just comparing him to other quarterbacks available, I feel like he does have that. That maybe a lot of people don't discuss. I mean, if you look at him in michigan, he ran a lot, so I do like that pairing with it.
Speaker 1:He's not just a pure pocket thrower yeah, I didn't really think about his, his rushing floor, so that's a good point. All right, frank, you got three picks left here. Buddy, you're at the 12 11. Where are you going now?
Speaker 2:yeah, so I'm actually going to go back to the well at running back here. I just want to sure that up just a tad. And there's two guys that I'm staring at, and right now it's Bill, also known as Bilbo Jokorski-Merritt, or we could end up going Braylon Allen, and I'm really torn between the two. But for me personally, I'm gonna lock in Braylon Allen. I like everything that's coming out of camp. I love the one-two punch and preseason games that he's played. He is been stellar. I mean, he has looked excellent. And guys, the reality is Aaron Glenn wants a committee it's gonna be Brees Hall and him and maybe Isaiah Davis even get involved. So to get him as a nice sure up to that running back room.
Speaker 1:I love it, let's ride yeah, I, I like that frank. All right, I like you. I mean, you put your money where your mouth is. You talk about a guy in an episode, you come right back around in the next episode and draft the guy on your mock draft. So you know, hey, you're not a liar. You might not be the smartest guy in the world, but you're not a liar, true?
Speaker 2:said the guy that also right um, there's a femur right somewhere there's a femur some okay all right, I am on the turn here.
Speaker 1:Two of the last three picks for me. Um, really, just looking at depth here, guys, I filled out my, my roster pretty nicely and I'm just looking at running back and receiver depth. Um, receivers on here. I mean, it's really kind of a flyer at this point. Um, we've got you know. Actually, here's what I'm gonna do frankie, frankie, I like this, I like this move. I said I wanted a piece of that Buffalo offense. So you know what, I'm going to pick two of the receivers, see which one's getting some targets and see what things look like, and I can dump the other one. I'm going to go with Josh Palmer. You know, watch it be Khalil Shakir and nobody else gets anything. So both of my receivers are wasted. But between Keon Coleman, josh Palmer, I should be able to find this is the end of the draft. These are guys I'm going to look at, one of them dropping for a waiver wire pickup anyway. So let's see what happens with that.
Speaker 1:All right, the next pick. I really want to take a look at some running back depth here and see what we've got. Yeah, you know, we, we, we've got this mess going on in Washington. Take Bob. Yeah, you know we've got this mess going on in Washington. Take Bilbo. I mean I have to right. Jacory Krosky, merritt, jcm. Is that what we're going to start calling this guy?
Speaker 3:AKA Bilbo.
Speaker 1:Bilbo, yeah, I'm going to give him a shot here. Guys, I mean, hey, he could end up being the starting running back. I mean, Austin Eckler, you want to talk about a pillar of health and a little long in the tooth. You know Austin Eckler is not taking the load. This is going to be a massive, massive, you know rotation in this backfield. So why not take a shot on one of these guys and see if maybe he's the goal line guy, or maybe he's the first and second down guy?
Speaker 2:All right, picks to go here, where you're gonna go, buddy, still need a quarterback, still need a quarterback, guys. And so that's where I'm gonna be going and you know what 1g will. Let's get out the long blonde hair. Let's get a wig on. Let's embrace jacksonville right now, because this is the year, baby. This is the year liam cohen unlocks, trevor trev what am I trying to say? Trevor lawrence, it's gonna be trevor law Lawrence's year. I really feel that he could end up being at least guys, a top 15 kind of guy. And right, when we're looking at the quarterback situation now, if he puts up similar numbers to what Aaron Rodgers did last year, right, 3,800, 27, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions guys, that's QB 14. You're not that upset if you're waiting until the second to last round for that from your quarterback perspective.
Speaker 1:So for me, I'm willing to take Trevor Lawrence in the second to last round. Could it be a resurgence year for Trevor Lawrence Frank?
Speaker 2:Travis Hunter right Tank Bigsby taking a step. Travis ETN you got BTJ. You got Brendan Strange with Liam Cohen. We'll see what happens.
Speaker 1:We'll see it, should it should work. It's just like Chicago. This should work.
Speaker 2:I don't know if it's going to.
Speaker 1:Yeah, although the vibes out of Jacksonville are way better than the vibes coming out of Chicago right now. Totally so I'll take that all day long, man yeah, chicago right now. So I'll take that all day long, man. Yeah, all right, matt, what do you got baby?
Speaker 3:Yeah, this is just turned into a string on. Liam Cohen loves us right now. It is.
Speaker 1:This episode is brought to you by Liam Cohen. We love Liam Cohen.
Speaker 3:And you know, I believe last year there was this guy who was a rookie, similar stature, you know, as as this guy about to draft came in, just stole the scene right, that's Bucky Irving. Well, let's talk about Basil Tootin.
Speaker 2:Tootin this guy, let's go.
Speaker 3:Let's just Liam Cohen knows what he's doing. He knows what he wants. Similar build as Bucky Irving. Again, I'm not expecting this guy to come in and be the RB1 right away, for Jacksonville had to work his way in and then, as the year progresses, the Lord of Bucky Irving. I just feel like got to take the flyer on this guy. Liam Cohen knows what he's doing. Liam Cohen, you have to Sponsor. Yeah, your thing.
Speaker 1:Get him on the show Now. Be careful If we say his name two more times. We got to send him money.
Speaker 3:So that's enough, guys. Yeah Right, yeah, he might appear out of the mirror in the bathroom or something.
Speaker 1:It's going to be hard for Frankie. He was going to mention it at least three more times. That's right. Good call with the Basil Tootin. By the way, it's not a guy we've talked a lot about, but yeah, rookie, running back in Jacksonville, yeah, he looks good, he really does. All right, matt, last pick here. Buddy, where are you going to go?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so obviously I don't have a tight end at this point. You know going to play the waiver wire, but I'm going to take Isaiah Lakely here. I know he's hurt, maybe he's healthy before week one. He could be, you know, the tight end, one of that offense, with Mark Bejews having a drop off. So again, tight ends are the dead zone outside of the big three. So roll, roll the roll the dice. Let's see what we get.
Speaker 1:All right, sounds good, frankie. Your last pick here, buddy.
Speaker 2:All right, guys, you know what I'm actually going to. Go back to the wallet quarterback. I want to just do a make sure. Make sure everything's good here. In case Goldilocks doesn't perform very well, I need somebody else to step up to the plate, and I have the teammate that makes this even better of a move. For me, guys, it's actually going to be Geno Smith, with me having Jacoby Myers. It's going to boost potentially both of them. So, right, geno Smith, guys, by the way, was QB 13 last year? Right, that's not nothing. And so for me to get him in the last pick of the draft, also, knowing that I have Jacoby Myers, guys, I'm double dipping. I got a solid stack here and we'll see how it pans out, especially with Pete Carroll. So for me, man, I think that it's a pretty damn solid pick to round it out the guy sitting here and when you're looking at upside to take a flyer.
Speaker 1:I'm not looking at Wandale Robinson, I'm not looking at Hollywood Brown or D-Hop. I just don't think there's any upside there, guys. I mean, they're there to help the teams, help the quarterbacks, help move the chains, not going to help my fantasy team. I am going to take a flyer. I do want to take a look at a rookie here. I've got Cortland Sutton. God forbid anything happens there.
Speaker 1:Let's take a shot on Pat Bryant, the rookie, and see how things look there. Again, if he's not getting looks in week one and two, I can use the wafer wire. He's the guy I'm going to drop if he's not. But maybe you catch some gold out of that. You never know. All right, guys, that is the draft, beautiful. Let's take a look at these teams one by one here quickly. We're going to start with Matt. Let's go with your team here, buddy Guys, if you want to see a strategy on not drafting quarterback and tight end until your last couple of picks, that's typically what Matt does and this is why because you'll load up on talent, especially a three receiver double flex league that is PPR. These are the guys you should be targeting. So, matt, laid out for us what does it look like for you?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I mean, again, I don't go into a draft ever thinking about what strategy I'm going to employ. I kind of let the draft come to be. This is the earliest I'm ever taking running running backs before, but again, being a three wide receiver league, obviously they're going to go a lot, a lot faster than a typical, you know, two wide receiver league. I really like the team here. Um, I think you know connor montgomery. Obviously they're on, they're older, but they provide a safe floor. And then I do have the flyers on, you know a toot and a harris. You know, maybe in a few weeks they could become rb2 for me.
Speaker 3:I do like the jj mccarthy, justin jefferson's stack and I just think kevin o'connell is a quarterback whisperer. So you know they, they believe in jj and again he, he has that athleticism you know they run him. Again, I think that's just underlooked from his perspective of what people are talking about in the fantasy realm. So I do like the team here. And then like Darnell Moody I know I get no shirt, but I just I feel like that offense could be high flying. So he could be another guy that talking about trades, you know to Franky, because he needs wide receiver one.
Speaker 2:I don't know what he was doing Don't you worry, I'll dive into that in a second.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he'll make you a really good shit offer to start too.
Speaker 3:Good deal. I'll include Isaiah Lakeley for you, but no, that's kind of what I was looking for here. Again, as you mentioned, just look at the value of the players. Don't force the position when you know maybe you don't have that roster spot filled out. So that's kind of let the draft come to you yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 1:No, that's a great, great line of advice for people. Yeah, Don't go in with a strategy. Have an idea. If you want to do a strategy, you could try to position yourself to that in the draft. But guys, don't be locked into something. Don't pass up on a good running back that could really help your team out just because you want to do a zero RB strategy. See what comes to you. Stay water, like we always say. Frankie. Thoughts on Matt's team.
Speaker 2:So, guys, first off, when looking at the strategy, this is great. Matt's been in our league for multiple years. He's a multiple time winner. For a reason I love the three receivers in a row. I mean it's fantastic, and I think getting Tyreek Hill in the second just aids with that ceiling boom play. And I think for me there's three critical draft spots that Matt did excellent at, and for me it's round four, getting James Connor. You're solidifying. If you can't get a high-flying RB1, get a guy that you know is going to be a workhorse, right, and yeah, he might split a little bit of time with Trey Benson. It's James Conner guys, and that's who it is. And then for me, the other two was Jerry Judy and Debo Samuel. I just think for me, those two picks are excellent. I mean I think that is an excellent pick. Both of those guys were guys that I was targeting, especially late in the rounds, and it just so happens that Matt took them. So I think that what that did not in terms of just adding depth, because those are two spots from a flex perspective that Matt's going to start, and guys those have potential with 200 point plus seasons all day long, and so I think that that was phenomenal.
Speaker 2:One call out that I may have done differently and, matt, you're going to probably say differently because you like this guy. And this is just semantics, this is just you prefer somebody that I don't and vice versa. It's the JSN pick for me. I would have gone lad McConkie there, and I just think lads uh ceiling is a slight, slightly higher with Justin Herbert at the helm, knowing it's going to be more of a run-first offense though as well. But I think that Ladd's ceiling is slightly higher than JSN with Darnold and knowing that Cooper Cup is also there. So for me, that would have been the change that I would have made.
Speaker 2:But overall, man, I think that this was so fun to see, especially the viewers, the people listening. Guys, johnny, you hit it when you wait for a quarterback and a tight end that late. Look at how deep your team can be, even if you're looking at those two running backs and you're kind of anchoring off of James Conner and David Montgomery. But you come back and Jalen Warren might be a starter in week three. You know what I mean. Maybe Caleb Johnson doesn't perform to the best of his ability or it takes time for him to develop, especially knowing he was playing third fiddle behind uh kenneth gainwell right and jaylen warren being the rb1.
Speaker 3:So for me, man, I think this was a really well done yeah, just, uh, well, well, one point I just I just want to call out because, yeah, I think people don't talk about siena enough. Like flint kubiak comes over from the Saints what we saw the Saints do the first four weeks of the season last year, just straight down the field. I don't know why nobody's talking about Seattle in the NFC. Maybe it's because they're in the Pacific Northwest. There's no other NFL team within a thousand miles of that. Again, I just Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh, len McCockie had some great games last year, but I just I know they want to run the football. Um, I just know Klee Kumbiak. I just feel like JSN could have one of those breakout seasons and I'd rather be a year too early than a year too late. Um, uh, that's that. That was just kind of my thoughts. Um, I think both are great players.
Speaker 1:I think both are great players. Jsn seems to be one of those guys. He's not a guy where everybody's like, yeah sure, good pick. You know, yeah Great, I would have taken him there. You either love him or you hate. You believe in him or you don't, and it's kind of a weird thing. You know, like man, I think there could be a lot of potential. I think you're right. Yeah, all right, frankie, let's get to your team. Why don't you lay it out here for us, brother?
Speaker 2:All right guys. So from a running back perspective, we're looking at Bajon Robinson, we have Trevion Henderson, we also have Joe Mixon paired with Nick Chubb, and then we got Braylon Allen bringing it up the rear. And then, from a receiver perspective guys, we also have Garrett Wilson, Mike Evans, DJ Moore, Jacoby Myers paired with Michael Pittman Jr and Keenan Allen, and then I also have Tyler Warren as the tight end, and then I have two quarterbacks, because I waited until the last two rounds to go for those guys in Trevor Lawrence and that of Geno Smith. So, looking at this particular draft guys, this was tough for me and I'm going to be honest. 1g Will, when you're looking at this number two in a spot like this is difficult because, in my opinion, you either have to reach a little bit from the receiver standpoint to get Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Amin Ra, whoever your guy is, plug him in from receiver and you lose the value at the running back position, or you take the running back and know that right how the receivers played out. You're going to have to reach a little bit for your receiver one and really hope it pans out. And so for me, I think that this showed at least an interesting strategy. If you were to take Bijan, you got to go from the receiver, receiver perspective and, looking at this, what would I have done differently, guys? I mean, the reality is I think that you know, probably, that Joe Mixon pick is what's going to like really bother me a little bit.
Speaker 2:And 1G1, if I were to, or 1G Will, if I were to do this again, I'm taking Debo Samuel there instead of Joe Mixon, and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to go on a crazy run at running back and I'm not going to go for a Tyler Warren. What I'm going to do there instead is I'm probably going to go Jalen Warren where I drafted Tyler Warren, and then, where I drafted Joe Mixon, again it's going to be Debo Samuel. But where I drafted Michael Pittman, then, guys, it's probably going to be somebody like a Javante Williams, and then, knowing that that's a particular starter on the team, it just now I anchored my team on multiple potential starters. But again, looking at this, I think it filled out well getting a Keenan Allen at the end there and a Michael Pittman Jr. But it's tough. Number two spot is a difficult spot to pick from, especially when you got your sandwiched in between two people that are starting off at the receiver receiver spot.
Speaker 1:Now let me ask you this. So one G will is going to be looking at this going oh man, I wouldn't have taken Bajon. Now you know you've got Bajon, you've got Garrett Wilson, so we can look at different scenarios of who you could have had. Would you have liked it better? So what about like a JJ Jonathan Taylor? Would you like that better than the two you have?
Speaker 2:You know, I'm not sure because and I say that because I think that JJ ceiling is through the roof. Let's just call it what it is. But I just have this gut feeling in a full PPR with Bajon, with Michael Penix Jr, this, this offense is going to run through Bajon, and so whether it's a dump off and dink, which is going to be excellent from a PPR standpoint, and or if it's just him running the ball, that's his offensive play. And for me I know Matt's really high on JJ McCarthy, I'm not not high on him, I just don't know how much I trust him. And so for me, that's what knocked down the JJ part a tad, which is guys, for me, I mean JJ for sure is receiver number two. I love the dude, he's fantastic, but that's why I ended up going Bajon.
Speaker 2:And then Garrett Wilson. But that is interesting. I mean you could look at JJ. If you're a believer in that and a believer in McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy's offense or Kevin O'Connell's offense, right, you could say, yeah, jj with Jonathan Taylor, that does sound a little bit better, right?
Speaker 1:and then you come back and now mike evans is your receiver to paired with jj versus that of paired with garrett wilson or you could do an almond raw jj jt, you could do an almond raw kyron williams, but yeah, I mean I think you're kind of splitting hairs there as far as that goes. I mean, get your guy at two and then get that next best running back or receiver at your second round pick, right.
Speaker 1:If you love Bajon, get him. You love JJ, go get him. You know, I think in this team that you put together here, though, I would definitely have come back if you did go. Jj or Amin Ra in that first round, come back with a JT or Kyron Williams, for sure. Raw in that first round, come back with a jt or kyron williams, for sure, yeah, yeah, because we see how quickly that thins out. You know, all of a sudden you're looking at mike evans, trey henderson. You're like, oh shit, like your, your massive studs are gone immediately. So, yeah, yeah, okay, I like it, uh, matt. Thoughts on frankie's team yeah.
Speaker 3:well, one thing I want to make note of that frankie called out which I think is super important is is Geno Smith. Last year was the quarterback 13. And what I want people to take away from that is that quarterbacks very rarely are league winners. So do not force it right Like, don't like, oh, I don't have a quarterback, I need a draft one. I kind of like how Frankie's approach was I'm not going to force it, I'm just going to force it, I'm just going to let it happen. You know, I'll take two out of the draft, go from there.
Speaker 3:Obviously I like to have a quarterback on the roster because I don't want to put myself in the dilemma of who am I starting today? The only pick that kind of stands out to me is the DJ Moore. I just don't know what's going on in Chicago. I mean, you mentioned Alameda. Ezekias Probably doesn't get a whole lot of airtime on other shows, but here he gets airtime. I'm just kidding. But with Robert Dunzay, Colson, Lovelight, there's just a lot of miles to see. I don't know what Caleb Williams is going to be. I know Ben Johnson is a great coach, but maybe just a little too early for me. I maybe just would have passed on him and went with somebody else.
Speaker 1:Frankie didn't have much of a choice there, though, man, I gotta be honest, because once I took Corlin, sutton and and T-Mac, he didn't really have many options left when it comes to wide receiver once really.
Speaker 2:And Matt, that's a good call out too. And guys be thinking about this, the viewers and listeners. If you're looking at Corlin Sutton and DJ Moore, I agree, I'm going to go Corlin Sutton over DJ Moore. So, johnny, whoever you weren't going to take was the person I was going to take and I was hoping you weren't going to go back to back and then I could have gone well, and then I would have gone TMAC, if I'm being honest with you. So, yeah, you kind of took both of those guys. And that's a great call out, matt, because again, I'm stack ranking Cortland, sutton and TMAC above that of DJ Moore, for sure.
Speaker 1:Yeah, which that upside of TMAC with Garrett Wilson, mike Evans and Jacoby.
Speaker 3:Myers Was what I needed.
Speaker 1:Really nice on your team, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3:And just to call this out to you like, maybe in that situation, somebody who's drafting right, like obviously you had, you know, your guys you were thinking of. Well, maybe in that situation, if you would like, obviously some people like with, like with the running clock, maybe you're like, oh, I don't know what to do. Maybe they're running back and then you know, take a David Montgomery, knowing that you know, travion Henderson is RB2, just to have that depth, something like that, just a call-out right, something that could actually happen in a draft.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yep, good call. All right, let's take a look at my team really quickly here. Guys I drafted from the one spot, got Jamar Chase, cortland Sutton, tedaroa McMillan, stefan Diggs, Emeka Egbuka, keon Coleman, josh Palmer and Pat Bryant as my receivers. Guys, I'm not going to lie, I love this receiver room. I love it. I think I did a great job here, even deep, getting guys that I really like that, I think have some upside Running backs Jonathan Taylor, tony Pollard, tank Bigsby and I'm sorry, jcm I think we're going to call him now the running back in Washington Jacory Krosky-Merritt, and then I've got Kyler Murray and the Trey McBride stack. So I love the stack there with the quarterback tight end. Absolutely adore my receiver. So I love the stack there with the quarterback tight end. Absolutely adore my receiver room.
Speaker 1:I took the hit on the running backs. For sure, I do like JT and Tony Pollard, but my depth is pretty rough. But again, when you're talking three receiver, two flexes, you've got to have this kind of depth. With a receiver Running back, you're always going to be playing that game. So if you have injuries in this type of league waiver, wire is always going to be about running back in this type of format and set up anyway.
Speaker 2:What do you guys think here? John, from my perspective, man, I thought it was fun to see you draft the Trey McBride at that turn at the start of the three, because it gives people an idea. Okay, if I'm not taking Bowers in round two and if I really do want one of those top three and I go for Trey McBride, this is what it can look like and what's interesting, man is like yeah, you nailed it. I think the running backs there they're real thin, real few and far between after Tony Pollard. But you know, it's also weird because Tank Bigsby might be solid, I mean Bilbo over there, jcm might be solid, like we don't know, with the Brian Robinson trade.
Speaker 2:So what you did was you forced your hand actually to get you some potential high flyers and to actually back that. And the other thing, guys, to call out is the stack is phenomenal with Kyler Murray and Trey McBride. But also you have such good receiver depth that, guys, he could flip something for a running back here or he could break up the stack package together Trey McBride, maybe get a streamer tight end and maybe if something happens to Tony Pollard, god forbid but then you have the trade assets to make a move. So for me you kind of covered your ass a little bit in the running back room, based on the stack and based on getting a Trey McBride though fully transparent that I'm not a guy that targets tight ends early, but I really do like that. You showed this and I think it provides a ton of value to the viewers and listeners.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I, I I don't ever do that either and I wanted to see if I could put together a team with this many starters, three receivers, two flexes, and still have the team I like and I do. But when you take a running back or a receiver, I'm sorry, when you take a tight end and a quarterback early, you're sacrificing somewhere. So where I chose to sacrifice which was my choice was my running back depth, because of the way this league is set up three receivers, flexes, I'm starting receivers and all those. Yeah, um, so I decided to be thin on running back and that's what's going to happen now.
Speaker 1:I could have, instead of trey mcbride there, I could have taken kyron williams. I could have taken chase brown. I've got a well-balanced, fucking stud team at that point, but I like the trey mcbride. Then I'm taking a. I'm streaming then at a tight end, that point, but I like the Trey McBride. Now maybe I would have liked this team better, frank, to where I did take a Kyron Williams or a Brees Hall or a Chase Brown and then come back around and get Tyler Warren in the middle. As long as I could have guaranteed I'd get Tyler Warren at tight end, I would have liked that team better, I think.
Speaker 3:Tight end perspective. I think if you're playing in a league with a tight end spot, I'm totally okay with a tight end going right here. The one pick I do like is the Ted Arora-McMillan. Dave Canales had Mike Evans in Tampa Bay and now he's got that in Carolina. I think it's a solid pick there.
Speaker 1:All right, guys. That is the draft. Thank you so much for joining us and Matt McGlone, our brother, our lover, we love you so much. Thank you so much for joining us.
