Fantasy Football Mock Draft: 12-Team Half PPR Flex

Frank Laury & John Hickey Season 5 Episode 17

Send us a text

Fantasy draft season is here, and time is running out to perfect your strategy! In this essential mock draft episode, we break down a standard 12-team, half-PPR league format that mirrors what most fantasy managers will face this season.

Drafting from the 6th position, Frankie demonstrates how landing CeeDee Lamb can become your cornerstone for building a powerhouse roster. The draft showcases how tier-based drafting decisions—not just blindly following rankings—can help you maximize value throughout each round. When Frankie pairs Lamb with Jonathan Taylor and later adds Tyreek Hill, we see how maintaining flexibility rather than forcing a rigid draft structure leads to a balanced, high-upside team.

Meanwhile, Johnny works the turn (12th pick), tackling one of fantasy's most debated questions: Is Christian McCaffrey worth the risk at the end of round one? His approach highlights how to mitigate risk when taking chances on high-ceiling players by securing appropriate insurance (like grabbing Brian Robinson Jr. after San Francisco's trade). The contrast between these draft positions offers valuable perspective no matter where you're selecting.

The middle rounds reveal just how quickly running back talent evaporates in 12-team formats. We discuss why you shouldn't panic if you miss on top-tier RBs early, while demonstrating creative roster construction including the "super stack" strategy—Frankie pairs Dak Prescott with both CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson to maximize point correlation when Dallas has big offensive days.

Whether you're drafting this weekend or still researching optimal strategies, this mock draft provides actionable insights for building a championship roster regardless of your draft position. Don't miss our running back breakdown and "champion picks" episodes coming soon as we head into the regular season!

What are we doing today, frank, with this draft, and who requested this draft?

Speaker 2:

Guys, fan requests coming from TikTok. We got Phyllis Willis, All right.

Speaker 1:

Phyllis, let's go. Phyllis Willis.

Speaker 2:

We're coming at you, baby, and here's what they were wanting us to do. Guys, it's a 12-team, half PPR, pretty much a standard format, right One QB, two running backs, two receivers, one tight end and one flex. So, john, this should be really good for people wanting to know hey, in a kind of a standard type of format, what are we looking at if Frankie's drafting from the six and if Johnny Boy's drafting at the end from 12? So, john, I'm excited to show the viewers and listeners what we got cooking for them.

Speaker 1:

That's right. Thank you, phyllis Willison. Guys, we got a couple of other episodes coming out with some mock drafts. Put your comments in below, guys. Let us know what it is you want to do. We got a few more. We'll try to squeeze it in here. All right, let's get this draft started, frank, and let's kick things off here. Man, right off the rip. Of course, we've got Jamar Chase at the 101. Seems to be a pretty typical 101 for us. Then we've got a little running back run here, frank. I like seeing that Half-point PPR. You're going to see that. Saquon Barkley, bajon Robinson, jameer Gibbs, justin Jefferson at five. Frankie, you are on the clock at the 1.6, man Guys this one's pretty easy right.

Speaker 2:

So 1.6 here you could go. Derek Henry, ashton, gentry. From a receiver perspective, there's still CeeDee Lamb, Amin Ra Puka For me guys, don't overthink it, it's CeeDee Lamb. Lock it in and enjoy the fruits of that labor there.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely. Really can't go wrong with that six spot with CeeDee Lamb man. If you can get him there, I think it's a huge victory for you, absolutely. Then we've got Derek Henry at seven, aminra St Brown, malik Neighbors at nine, ashton Gentry at 10, and Puka Nakua at 11 here. So now I am on the clock right on the turn. I get two picks in a row here. I can do anything I want. I love that.

Speaker 1:

Take a look at running backs here. We've got Christian McCaffrey right at the turn, devon Achan, joss Jacobs, jonathan Taylor all workhorse running backs, all guys that catch the ball out of the backfield, all guys I think you can anchor your team on. So I love those options. Receiver here at the turn Nico Collins, drake London, brian Thomas Jr. Guys, I'm going to step right up here and grab my number one receiver on the board at the moment. It's going to be Nico Collins. This is a guy that I think is a lock at the turn for you. I just don't think you can really go wrong with Nico this year Coming back around then.

Speaker 1:

I'd like to look at a running back Christian McCaffrey, devon Achan, josh Jacobs. Guys, I am going to take the shot at CMC here on the turn. I'm sorry I know we get brutalized on YouTube and on TikTok for taking this, but guys, I'm sorry If CMC is sitting there staring at me with a little bit of Devon Achan worry, with some injury potential there, I just think he's a step above and beyond, especially half PPR. He's going to give you a little more edge than Josh Jacobs and JT I think. I think it's just an easy pick of Christian McCaffrey on the turn here. Okay, going into round two, we've got Devon Achan, josh Allen, first quarterback there at the 2.3. Then we've got Drake London, josh Jacobs and AJ Brown. Frankie, you're on the clock 2.7.

Speaker 2:

Who are you going to pair up with CeeDee Lamb Guys? So when looking at the receivers, I could go receiver end up shoring up that room. It could be Brian Thomas, it could be Vlad McConkie, tyreek Hill, t Higgins Could also look at quarterback right. Josh Allen's, off the board, Could get Lamar if you're stack ranking that. Or Brock Bowers is still there for tight end number one. But for me I got to go running back Half PPR guys.

Speaker 2:

There's still a teardrop. And actually, john, we got a question from one of the comments in YouTube saying what do you guys mean by teardrop? And actually I'm really glad that that question was asked, because a lot of times Johnny and I say this because we live it, we breathe it, we sleep it, we know kind of like the vernacular that is being kind of thrown around in the fantasy football world. But what we mean by teardrop, guys, is think of a teardrop in regards to the first running back sleuth in round one, meaning it's really Bajon Jameer, saquon, barkley, and then that is one meta tier From there. Then there's subsequent tiers from there.

Speaker 2:

So when we talk about a teardrop, that means that for us we have players that were stack ranking in higher tiers that we want to go after before we kind of reach for that secondary or third type of tier. Okay, I hope that helps. So for me, guys, when looking at this, it's Jonathan Taylor from the running back perspective. For me there is a tier drop from after Jonathan Taylor to then Kyron Williams and maybe James Cook and Brees Hall and things of that nature. I want to try to grab one of those guys and one of those more top tier running back echelon kind of things absolutely tier based drafting is really what you want to do, guys.

Speaker 1:

You look at the list. They're just going to list guys. It doesn't mean the guy at the top of the list is who you're going to take. Look at the tiers. There's going to be a handful of guys and then, based on the information you're getting and consuming, like from the Frankly Fantasy podcast, it'll help you decide which of those guys in the tier you want more than the others. But yeah, pay attention to those teardrops because that could decide if you've got two picks coming up, if you're going to go running back or receiver before your next pick. So great call, frank. All right, after Frankie took Jonathan Taylor. Great pick there.

Speaker 1:

Brian Thomas Jr. Lamar Jackson, bucky Irving, brock Bowers tight end taken here at the 2-11. Chase Brown coming into the turn. Here We've got Kyron Williams 3.2,. Ladd McConkie, trey McBride, tee Higgins, jaden Daniels. Frankie, you're back on the clock, guys. It's good to pay attention. Here we're in middle of round three. We've had three quarterbacks taken and two tight ends taken. That is very likely to happen in your draft, so just pay attention to that. Frankie 3.6. Where are you at man Board's?

Speaker 2:

open. Guys board is totally open, but with the top two tight ends off the board, I'm not willing to go tight end at this point in time. Even though George Kittle is super enticing, there's a couple other players that are a little bit higher on my board. When you look at running back, you could go James Cook and guys, I know right, I said he's off my board. Well, that was before he ended up getting a four-year deal. Okay. So now it might make sense if I do draft him here to be my RB2. That's really interesting. But there's one player as a receiver that is still there that could break the ceiling. We've talked about this multiple times. We did a. Would you Rather between him and Garrett Wilson? I want Cheetah, I want the freak athlete that he brings to the table. It's Tyreek Hill. Guys, if you can get him in that third round, I mean right in the 12-team league. I love every bit of that, especially knowing he's my receiver too.

Speaker 1:

Really that's weird, Frankie, because I haven't heard you talk about Tyreek Hill all season, Not one time. This is episode 16, 17. I've never heard you mention Tyreek's value in a third round this year. Man, hey, at least you're still putting your money where your mouth is. Totally, you're doing exactly what you're telling people to do. So, hey, man, you're not a fraud, at least Not a fraud. You might be insane, but you might also be a genius, I might be full of shit but I'm not a fraud.

Speaker 1:

All right, after Frankie's Tyreek Hill pick in the third round we had JSN Omarion Hampton, james Cook, marv Marvin Harrison, jr, brees Hall, and I am on the clock on the 3-4 turn here. Guys, let's take a peek here what we got going on. Let's take a look at the onesie positions just to see if it's something I'm interested in George Kittle falling to the back of the third that's super sexy. Early fourth That'sittle falling to the back of the third. Early fourth that's really sexy to me. That's something I'm definitely considering here.

Speaker 1:

You look at quarterback. We're at Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow. That's a huge tier for me. I think I'm going to hold off on that, guys, because there's still a lot of good talent out here with running back and receiver and, I think, with receivers. Here we're looking at Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, terry McLaurin, devontae Adams. You know, here I think what I want to do is pair up another high ceiling, high floor guy with Nico Collins. I'm going to take Garrett Wilson here. I just think that's a really nice pairing of receivers with Nico and with Garrett Gives me the floor, gives me the opportunity of having potentially two top 12 receivers as well by the end of the season.

Speaker 1:

All right, and you know what I think I am going to do, frank, the running backs I'm not absolutely in love with. You got Kamara, kenneth Walker, chuba Connor. You know I'm going to punt on this and hang on a second here, frank, and I am going to take that massive value. I just think George Kittle is just too good a value to pass up right now. Yeah, in the fourth round, I just absolutely love that. So let's see if I can salvage my running back room after taking that high flying tight end here. All right, after George Kittle, we had Jalen Hurts, mike Evans, scary Terry McLaurin, alvin Kamara and Devante Adams. Frankie, this is your pick for seven. Fourth round here. Who are you going to pair up with? Ceedee Lamb, jonathan Taylor and Tyreek?

Speaker 2:

You know, guys, it's really interesting. Johnny and I have done insane amount of mock drafts right. I mean it's pretty crazy. And with that, every single time you do a 12-14 team league, it's fascinating how far the running backs drop off. I mean by round four, guys, if you do not have your top two running backs, you need to take a big deep breath. It's okay, don't freak out, don't reach, because then you can go running back crazy in kind of this dead zone, and that's what's going on. So remember that, don't worry about it.

Speaker 2:

Look at the other values, and what I mean by that is when I look at running back. I need an RB2 right now to pair with Jonathan Taylor, but there's Kenneth Walker Jr. I'm not a huge fan of this year guys, dare, I say John, he might be off my board completely. I just think Zach Charbonnet is up his ass a little bit too much and is performing incredibly well. And then you have Chuba Hubbard, james Conner.

Speaker 2:

Like those guys, I don't necessarily love those guys here, because when you look at receiver, there's still DK Metcalf, dj Moore, cortland, sutton, rasheed Rice. That is the value at this particular pick, guys. Or you could go quarterback and get Joe Burrow, because then there's a huge another tier drop Again when we talk about drops and tiers from Joe Burrow to Patrick Mahomes and so on and so forth. But for me I want that flex piece shored up and then some and I could package together a few of these top-tier guys to build a trade, maybe to boost that RB2 throughout the season. So I am going to go receiver here and I'm actually going to lock in DK Metcalf to sure up that particular flex spot.

Speaker 1:

You know this has been a trend for us, Frankie, that DK Metcalf pick as your flex, dk and Devontae Adams for that matter. To have those guys as your wide receiver three, I think is absolutely beautiful. Now I'm way more on DK than I am Devontae just because of the back issues with Stafford. But yeah, dk Metcalf man as your flex, I just think that is a locked and loaded spot for you, man. Great pick, all right. After DK, we had Kenneth Walker, the third, we had Chuba, joe Burrow, james Conner Coming into the turn on 4-5, we had Cortland Sutton and Rasheed Rice, devonta Smith, dj Moore, david Montgomery, trevion Henderson and Frankie. You are on the clock and this is 5.6 for you.

Speaker 2:

Guys. So, john, I want to talk about this gentleman, so I'm just going to get to the chase. I am going to now take a running back here due to if, if corlin sudden was still on the board, if he made it, I was actually going to go another receiver there, just in case. If something happens to tyreek hill or cd lamb or dk metcalf, I have a plug and play and we're ready to rock. But looking at the receivers, right, right, it's Zay Flowers, xavier Worthy, t-mac, which I do love T-Mac here. It'd be super fun. But from a running back standpoint, I'm going to look there. Guys, it's RJ Harvey or Pacheco.

Speaker 2:

Now, john, I want to talk about this guy. I'm going to go Pacheco, and the reason being is because we haven't talked a lot about him and nor have we heard a lot about Pacheco from other fantasy football podcasts, analysts, so on and so forth. And it was interesting. You and I got into this and we were like, why are we afraid of Isaiah Pacheco? Right, when we look at 2024, he was a surefire running back draft in the second round in your fantasy football drafts. And now, because of the injury, and yeah, they re-signed Kareem Hunt, now it's just like, oh my gosh, we're kind of afraid to draft Isaiah Pacheco, and the more and more I'm thinking about this man.

Speaker 2:

He had a great preseason game three rushes for 21 yards and a touchdown. Looks like his speed is back up. Looks like he's still an angry runner. Am I crazy to think that if you can get Pacheco, john, as your RB2 in a 12-team league in round five or six, I mean this is crazy, right? I mean what a value. What am I missing here? John? Help me tell the viewers and listeners why they shouldn't be afraid of Pacheco.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pacheco's one of those guys. He should be climbing up to draft boards guys. He's one of those forgotten people and this happens every year in fantasy. He was hurt last year. He missed most of the season and when he came back at the end of the year he was able to come back. He just wasn't the same guy. He was still healing and they also already had a bunch of running backs in the backfield. So there was no reason to give the backfield back to him while he's trying to get back on the field. So it's kind of a recency bias that we always have. But, guys, he is the starter. This is a three down back for the Kansas City Chiefs that they can utilize. Behind him they have Elijah Mitchell, which we know from being the handcuffed to CMC. Elijah Mitchell also has been hurt a lot in his career, almost his entire career.

Speaker 1:

So he's a guy that can come in if something happened to Pacheco. He's not going to be stealing a bunch of carries. They'll pepper him in. And they also have Kareem Hunt, who does steal a lot of third downs, a lot of goal line opportunity, that type of thing, and Brashard Smith right, they drafted the rookie yeah.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, they got a lot of guys back there, but I have no reason to believe that the job is Pacheco. They're going to roll some other guys in there. But listen man, this is a team that plays defense. We don't like the passing offense because they play defense and run the ball. So why are we not more on Pacheco? Here is what I don't understand. So yeah, man, great pick, absolutely. You could take a swing for the fence with RJ Harvey. But you don't know, could this take five weeks? Does JK Dobbins ball out? Does Sean Payton have a carousel of guys going through there like he does like to have? That's the risk with RJ Harvey.

Speaker 1:

The only reason not to have Pacheco is because you're worried about your feelings from last year. Those aren't relevant this year. Guys, get rid of those. Think about like being a quarterback who just threw a pick six and has to go right back out on the field. Forget about what just happened. It's not really that relevant to right now. So draft Pacheco, I'm all about him. All right, frankie. So after you took pacheco, we had sam laporta, patrick mahomes, xavier worthy, a lot of chiefs going in that fifth round. All right, zay flowers, tj hockinson, and I am on the clock here around five, six turn.

Speaker 1:

Let's take a look at what I am looking at doing here. I am a little worried now that my running back two is going to be a little scary for me because I did choose to take george kittle in the fourth. So let's take a look here. First of all, there's a guy that I cannot pass up. Massive teardrop for me because now you start getting into when it comes to receiver. You start getting into some of those high value receiver twos on teams Jameson Williams, george Pickens, travis Hunter, jalen Waddell, love all those guys, but they are the two, the number two targets on their team. There is one guy here that has volume written all over him. I can't stop drafting this guy. It's rookie Tedaroa McMillan. I think he's just an auto draft for me in the fifth, sixth round like this. Absolutely love him. Going to take him there.

Speaker 1:

Looking at running backs you know this is where normally I would take a tony pollard here, frank, because I just love him as an rb2. I think he's one of the safest rb2s for you, you can sure. But I am going to take a chance with the rj harvey pick because I'm on a turn. I want to take the guy that I want and the guy that I love. So I want the upside here with rj harvey and see what I can do all right after rj har. Going into the sixth round. Here we've got George Pickens, jalen Waddell, j-mo DeAndre Swift and Joe Mixon. Frankie, you're on the clock. Round six, pick seven Guys.

Speaker 2:

So and I want to call out, like with John, with the TMAC particular draft pick there at the end of round five. Guys, matt, in our previous episode that we did a mock draft with Matt McGlone, who is again a two-time winner in the last three years 14 team league, very good at fantasy football guys, and he made an interesting point. I want to bring it back to this particular episode. Dave Kanellis also ended up working very much so with Mike Evans and to get a Mike Evans like individual with that of a Tedaroa McMillan and put him in this Panthers offense where they desperately need a receiver one, john, to get him as your receiver three and actually your starting flex spot is fantastic. So, guys, be thinking about personnel as well when you start trying to split hairs between different players. Truly, if you have the ability think back to like, okay, who's the OC or who's the head coach, who's calling the plays? Where did they do really well in the prior with prior personnel like Mike Evans, with Dave Kanellis, et cetera. So I wanted to bring that back because I really am a believer in what TMAC is going to bring this year as well.

Speaker 2:

Now, when looking at this particular draft pick, guys that I have again are in round six. I have my two running backs being Jonathan Taylor and Isaiah Pacheco, and three receivers with CeeDee Lamb, tyreek Hill and DK Metcalf, so I can really look across the board. When I look at quarterback, I could go Baker Mayfield, I could go Bo Nix here, kyler Murray, kind of interesting stuff or I could go running back and it's Aaron Jones, tony Pollard, quinshawn Judkins, and I could also look at receiver and it's Calvin Ridley, chris Olave, et cetera. Guys for me. I absolutely want to draft another running back in case Pacheco doesn't come back and he's the guy In case Jonathan Taylor ends up getting banged up, knowing that I'm basically anchoring my running back room off of him.

Speaker 2:

John, you mentioned the name and I'm drafting him. It's Tony Pollard. To get him as your RB3, which is super safe. He arguably might be one of the safest running backs based on his ADP. I'm not saying in the entirety of the NFL, I'm saying for the value that you get him and the risk that you're drafting him at guys. It's really, really good. Good. So for me to get him as my rb3 is fantastic tony.

Speaker 1:

Uh, tajay spears is going to be out for a couple of weeks. Tony pollard's probably going to be by himself to get a starting running back. Who's going to be a three down back, most likely for at least the first couple of games in the sixth round? Yeah man, yeah, fire it up, baby, fire it up. All right, frank now. Where are you going to double tap here? You're going to go. You've got three receivers, three running backs. You can do anything you want. This is round seven, right in the middle. Where are you going?

Speaker 2:

So, guys, I'm going to look at receiver. I want to continue bolstering this room a little bit more, and the gentleman that I was still looking for is still here, and it's funny I could take a reach there. But there's still, for me, few guys that I have slightly above, and one guy continues to come to mind, and it's Calvin Ridley. I'm going to lock in Calvin Ridley. I know it shows that he's a little bit banged up, guys. The reality is he's sore, right, and that's pretty much what's going on. I think what we have seen in training camp and preseason shows that this rookie quarterback in Cam Ward, who has absolutely been very effective, has been targeting the living hell out of Calvin Ridley. So to also have that in my back pocket. I love this, the way this team is developing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I like it man, I like it a lot here. All right, so what I'm going to do here is we've got some developed developments here over the past few days, guys, uh, talking about the san francisco backfield. So we all know that san francisco did acquire brian robinson jr from the commanders.

Speaker 1:

okay, so now we have an actual running back. Who's a healthy, who's be good, who was starting running back on a good offense last year. This is merely a reason that they did this is so they can sign Terry McLaurin. I'm telling you that's exactly what it is. They had to free up some money. They have a couple of young guys that they're paying nothing to that can fill in two guys to fill in for the Brian Robinson role. They ship Brian Robinson out.

Speaker 1:

I've got CMC. Guys. If you've got CMC, I think it's an absolute must that you grab brian robinson jr, don't you agree, frank? Totally agree with that. John, good call, not not something you want to do in round seven, to have to take a handcuff, but, guys, I just you've got to lock down that backfield. If something does happen to cmc, brian robinson's good. It's not some no-name guy that you have no idea who he is. You know, you know who brian robinson jr is. The goal line carries alone for the 49ers will be super valuable, so I'm taking that All right. Moving on, looking here at some receiver depth, frank, you know there's a couple of guys that again, late round draft values and steals. We've talked about this. Frankie, I want to do a little, would you rather here? Okay, right on the spot. I want you to answer this for me. I'm trying to decide between two old heads, okay, and the seventh, eighth round. I'm sorry, talk me into one or the other here.

Speaker 2:

Cooper Cup versus Stefan Diggs Go Great guys. For me personally, I would be going Stefan Diggs here, and I'll tell you why. He's the surefire number one receiver on the Patriots. Yes, I know he's coming back from an ACL surgery. Yes, I know that he's been banged up very recently, and I also understand that the person throwing him the ball is Drake May.

Speaker 2:

However, when you compare that to Cooper Cup situation in Seattle with that of Sam Darnold throwing the ball, which version of Sam Darnold are we going to get? Is it the Kevin O'Connell who's the quarterback whisperer type, or is it going to be Sam Darnold who's seeing ghosts and we're not really sure how this is going to pan out? In addition, jsn is there and from what we've seen and what we've heard, jsn is the number one receiver on this particular team. So for me, man, when splitting hairs between these two old head guys, I'm absolutely going to go with Stefan Diggs, and it's just because the route running that we've seen in camp, the ability to separate, is absolutely still there, and for me, he is truly the receiver one, and I actually, I actually think that Drake May is a dark horse to be a damn good quarterback this year. So, everything put together, I'm going to go, stefan Diggs.

Speaker 1:

Frankie, I believe you. I don't know why, but I believe you. But yeah, that's exactly where I'm headed to and it's basically just where these teams seem to be at right now, today, at the end of the third week of preseason, and I just think Stefan Diggs has the immediate impact on this team, definitely. All right, frank, we're in round eight here. Look at you just drafting receivers and running backs, just trying to load up on depth here. Man, where are you going to go now?

Speaker 2:

So, guys, it's pretty open again. So I definitely need a quarterback here, but there's still kind of a dead zone in quarterback, and what I mean by that is it's Jared Goff, herbert Purdy, prescott, cj Stroud. I'm okay, I can still wait. When you look at the running backs, I definitely would like to add another running back, but it's Cam Scadaboo, jordan Mason. You have Zach Charbonnet, jk Dobbins, a couple guys that I am interested in. I'm going to wait, be patient. I do need a tight end. I'm going to wait, be patient.

Speaker 2:

For receiver. I want to still keep adding to this room, again for trading, for depth purposes, for injuries Again, if Tyreek Hill's banged up again or if something happens to CeeDee Lamb we've seen both them injured last year I want to make sure my ass is covered. So for me, guys, there's Debo Samuel, ricky Pearsall, khalil Shakur, emeka Igbuka and Chris Godwin. This is easy. For me, it's Debo Samuel. I really think what we've seen from this particular offense. He's absolutely walking in as receiver two, alongside Scary Terry, presumably that he's still there. And then also, we've seen him now with Brian Robinson being shipped out. They're getting him involved even more so in the running game, and so for me, man, I'm really liking him as my receiver. What is that? Five on this particular team.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm warming up to Debo man, yeah, yeah, especially where you can get him, you know, and what we've seen his utilization so far. Yeah, he's a great value in round eight. Let's go. Sure is, let's go. What do you have to lose? All right Now where?

Speaker 2:

are guys. I'm going to go quarterback here and the reason is is because I want a stack, and when I'm pairing my number one receiver with his particular quarterback, I think that's a match made in heaven. So I'm willing to skip over Herbert and Purdy to actually take Dak Prescott here, making sure that I'm getting double dipping here with those particular points. So I'm locking in Prescott to aid with that of CeeDee Lamb. All right, I like that pick way to get up a cheap stack.

Speaker 1:

So I'm locking in Prescott to aid with that of CD Lamb. All right, I like that pick Way to get up a cheap stack like we talked about in our cheap stack episode. Guys, yeah, that's right, I was actually looking to do a similar cheap stack here. I have McCaffrey and Kittle. I was locking in that backfield and I wanted to grab Purdy. That would have been so nice.

Speaker 1:

It would have been pretty. It would have been real, real pretty. Yeah, yeah, real pretty. But, alas, uh, team, what is that? Nine decided to fuck me. So I appreciate you, bud. Yeah, all right, all right.

Speaker 1:

So we basically now I'm looking at, I'm at the, I'm at the time here, I've got four picks left to go. Guys, I'm I'm going to be drafting late quarterback, streaming quarterback, so I may want to consider picking up two quarterbacks. I may get a nice, safe guy that I know that can perform for me, create that floor and then maybe take a chance on a rookie quarterback that might have some upside that I can drop if I think I'm going to be okay with quarterback. So that means I've got two other picks that I'm looking at, potentially if I continue with that strategy. So I want to look at the best available with receivers and running backs here and just see what kind of depth I can get or what kind of upside guy I might be able to find here too.

Speaker 1:

A couple of guys we're looking at I mean, these are, all you know, real deep here, but I am going to look at one guy. I do want a piece of this. We talked about it a little bit in our last mock draft. I'm going to go. This isn't like a huge, huge upside guy but I got to see what's there. Okay, this is could be the number one target for Josh Allen. I know everybody's playing this game. We're all going to take it's whack-a-mole right now Is it Keon Coley.

Speaker 1:

Is it Khalil Shakir? Is it Josh Palmer? We don't really know. Is it Dalton Kincaid, for Christ's sake? We're not really sure what's going to happen, but we do know it's the number one quarterback in fantasy football. We do know he's the NFL MVP. So you want that guy thrown to your guys. So I'm going to take a shot. We talk about it every time, but I'm going to take a shot late in the draft here on Keon Coleman, just to see if I've got anything going on. All right.

Speaker 1:

So next we're going to take a look at some running back depth here. Jk Dobbins, ramondre Stevenson I just want to take a peek and see are there any rookies available here or any sneaky, sneaky picks, to see if I got anything. Good. You know what I am going to take a chance here. Frank, here's a guy that I got. To make sure I look up his name. That's how recent this guy's been talked about. It's Jacory Krosky, merritt, bill Bow, bill Bow, baby.

Speaker 1:

This is a running back that has emerged. He's one of the reasons why they were able to shift Bryan Robinson out of Washington is because they've got this guy. So this guy's likely to look at maybe the first and second down roll he's going to have to work in. They've got Austin Eckler there, but I don't have a lot of confidence that Austin Eckler is going to hold down a backfield and be a three down back. I think they're going to have three different roles here. They're going to have Austin Eckler's role. I think they're going to have like a first down guy, and then I think they're going to have a goal line guy. So let's see what role this guy has. No-transcript. All right, frank, we're coming into round 10 here. You've got three picks to go. What are you gonna do, buddy?

Speaker 2:

so, john, I'm actually gonna go and I'm gonna, I'm gonna join your backfield here. So I'm gonna go to running back and I want to do a little bit. Uh, you know, austin neckler action bring out the guitar, like he used to do with the chargers. Baby guys, I'm not gonna overthink this. Looking at the running backs, there's tank bigsby, remandre ste Stevenson, austin Eckler, tajay Spears, nick Chubb it's pretty easy With now Brian Robinson being shipped out, I need another running back to pair with Isaiah Pacheco, jonathan Taylor and Tony Pollard.

Speaker 2:

This is a perfect running back for because there's no risk, there's only upside, and from what we're seeing, guys they got. They really do like austin eckler. But, john, to your point, he's probably not going to be carrying the full load. So if he ends up popping off one week or whatever it may be, guess who's going to be on the trade block? It's going to be austin eckler, and so I'm going to try to be able to get something. Maybe I package together austin eckler and dk metcalf, um and get a really surefire rb2. Or if Pacheco starts really performing well, maybe I look to bolster that receiver three spot, you know. So this gives me leverage where I need it. So I'm locking in Austin Eckler man.

Speaker 1:

All right, I love that baby. All right, you got two picks left. Where are you going here?

Speaker 2:

So this is interesting. I'm actually going to look at tight end right. So I don't have a tight end, I need one. And there's one guy here that I was hoping he would actually fall to me for a super stack, a guy that they just paid at the Dallas Cowboys quite handsomely I'm talking about Ferguson, guys, jake Ferguson, turd Ferguson locking him in, because if CD lamb just ends up being a PPR machine, awesome, that's great. But if we get into the red zone and now we have a nice little TD pass to Ferguson over here, guys, I'm double dipping as well. So I'm going with a super stack with Dak Prescott, ceedee Lamb and Jake Ferguson.

Speaker 1:

I love that. I love the super stack. You know you got to pull that out there towards the end, frank. Yeah, way to do that Super stack. You got to love it, gotta love it, man.

Speaker 1:

All right, last two picks for me here, guys, and I am gonna play that quarterback game, uh, just because I don't love the quarterbacks that are left. So once you decide you're streaming quarterback, I'm gonna be streaming likely all season. So let's try to pair something up to see if I can get a nice little stack going on with one of my high powered receivers. Get a guy with some rushing floor as well. I'm going to take Justin Fields here to roll out week one just to see how things go. He does have that rushing. It is a connection with Garrett Wilson, with my starting receiver, but then I'm going to come back and play.

Speaker 1:

Take a little swing for the fence here, frank. Not a guy that I'm expecting is going to be a home run hitter right to come off the gate. But what if he is? What if he is? We didn't expect Jaden Daniels to do what he did last year. You know, on the team he was on with the talent he had. I don't think Cam Ward has any different talent or any different situation that Jaden Daniels was put in last year. So I'm going to take a shot there and see if nothing happens. I'm continuing to play that streaming quarterback anyway, but why not back it up and see what could possibly happen here? Yeah, all right, frank. Last pick of the draft. What?

Speaker 2:

are you looking at? So, guys, just from the team perspective again, jonathan Taylor, isaiah Pacheco, tony Pollard, austin Eckler, pairing that with my receivers, with CeeDee Lamb, Tyree Kill, dk Metcalf, calvin Ridley, debo Samuel, jake Ferguson and Dak Prescott. So for me, guys, I can actually look at running back. There's certainly somebody here that I love and it's Braylon Allen. I could also look at receiver who is. There's somebody also there that I absolutely love in Keenan Allen. Or I could go quarterback here and just in case Dak makes me a little nervous, I could back that up. But just to show people. So if in a real life draft I actually might go a secondary quarterback and go to a that way I'm shoring up two different stacks there. But from the receiver perspective, there is somebody I'm stack ranking slightly over that of Braylon Allen and it's Keenan Allen. I'm willing to take him and I think he's going to be excellent for Justin Herbert and the chargers.

Speaker 1:

It's a good flyer pick, why not? Yeah, you know, and that's what we're calling a flyer guys, it's your last pick of the draft. You pick a guy who you know has got some potential upside here, and if it doesn't pan out for you, you drop them. You take the waiver wire darling of the week, you know? Yeah, yeah, all right, that is the draft here.

Speaker 2:

Frank, let's take a quick look. You want to run down and just give us an idea of what your team is and, uh, how you think you did. Would you make any different choices? What are your strengths and weaknesses? So, guys, again, just mentioned it, but quarterback is dac prescott, the starting receivers, with two receivers. Starting would be cd lamb, tyreek hill, my flex at starting would be dk metcalf, then my two starting running backs will be Jonathan Taylor, isaiah Pacheco and, to aid with depth, I also have Tony Pollard, I have Austin Eckler, calvin Ridley, debo Samuel and then Keenan Allen. Then I also have Jake Ferguson.

Speaker 2:

For me, man, I really think this was a fun draft, and I say that because if CeeDee Lamb can fall to you at pick six guys, I think this sets you up for anything. You could end up going receiver receiver. You could end up going receiver running back, which is what I did with Jonathan Taylor and what I mean. If I didn't go Jonathan Taylor at that, um, uh, number two guys, I could have gone Brian Thomas Maybe some of you have him stack ranked a little bit higher. Maybe I could have gone a quarterback there with Lamar Jackson, right. So, knowing that you can anchor a team on a guy like CeeDee Lamb is phenomenal.

Speaker 2:

Overall, john, I'm very satisfied with this team. I'm not going to sit here and say that this is a immediate league winner or anything like that, but what this does is it's very balanced and it gives me the opportunity to make big trades throughout the season. Right, because of the depth that I have for the receiver and running back room and guys, I will be streaming tight ends. So if, for whatever reason, ferguson doesn't pan out, it's okay. I'm not freaking out, but I have the bolster with that of Dak Prescott to aid with that. Let's say both shit the bed, it's okay. We can absolutely look at some of the other tight ends that are still on the board, guys like that of Zach Ertz, hunter Henry, or you could even look at additional quarterbacks with Trevor Lawrence, tua Tagovailoa that you can pick up as well. So for me, man, I really think that this was a really solid, very well-balanced team from a pick six perspective.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I'm trying to look through here and see what I may have done differently. Frank and I really I don't see anything. I mean I don't really see a weakness here on your team. Um, I mean you've got, uh, calvin ridley and debo to choose from in your flex, maybe even a keenan allen. Uh, your rb2 with pacheco and pollard. It's solid, dude, either of those two guys are going to be fine for you at your rb2. Um, you know you're going to be playing that depth piece with rb, but we're always going to be doing that you know this is a shallow league.

Speaker 1:

We're doing it for the purposes of a mock draft. A lot of you are going to have, you know, six or 17 benches as well, maybe an IR spot. So we, you know, we do a five person bench so you could develop more depth with a deeper league. But yeah, I like what you did here, man. I mean you just loaded Tap that, your RB2, your flex Absolutely great draft man. Yeah, all right, let's take a quick look at my team here as well. As far as quarterbacks go, I'll be playing a little bit of a carousel there. I know it's definitely a weakness, but I've got Justin Fields, tight end with George Kittle Receivers, I've got Nico Collins, Garrett Wilson with the stack, tedaroa McMillan and then Stefan Diggs and Keon Coleman for depth. I do like that depth there. I can have some option at flex for me too.

Speaker 1:

Running back, this got a little interesting. This is not the most comfortable running back room I've ever drafted for sure. Sacrifice a little because of the kiddle pick, I understand that. But yeah, it's just okay for me. Frank, there's definitely upside this team. This running back room could be incredible or it could absolutely be just miserable. I'm not sure. But I've got CMC, rj Harvey, brian Robinson Jr backing up CMC and Jacory Krosky-Merritt Bilbo. So not any depth, hardly at all here, frank, just really kind of backing up CMC and hoping for the best for RJ Harvey. So I definitely would have gone in here. Don't love the Kittle pick. I think I could have waited and maybe tried to pick up an Evan Ingram or, you know, even a Tyler Warren much later in the draft. I could have used a running back in that spot where that Kittle spot is. Huh.

Speaker 2:

I agree, john, and I think that's that is the one call out there and like people are going to come at us and say, okay, john, your quarterback suck Well, no shit. But remember Justin Fields guys, when he played yes, I, we have to delineate NFL play versus fantasy football world right, when Justin Fields was starting, he was quarterback six guys, and it wasn't because of his arm, it was because of his legs. And so for me, I actually love that pick by John, because then I already mentioned the other particular quarterbacks that you can pick up. If cam or doesn't pan out, who gives a shit you pick up to a tongue of by Aloha, pick up Trevor Lawrence. It's not a big deal to pair with that.

Speaker 2:

Now, john and I you I think you absolutely nailed the first round pick as well Nico Collins with CMC Out of selfishness. I think it would have been fun. I'm not saying I would have done this, I wouldn't have done it. I would have done exactly what you would have done, if I'm being honest, but now, looking at this, I think it would have been so fun and I might actually do this, and those listening and viewing you might too Go. Cmc Devon Achan now seeing this in a 12-team league, why not?

Speaker 2:

I mean, if you want a super high ceiling with an insanely risky floor, you could do that and that could, john. You mentioned it. Devon Achan, walking and healthy, right, and I get it. He's not healthy right now he has a calf injury, but everything that Mike McDaniels is coming out and saying is he's going to be okay for the season, which I think he's going to be. So imagine then right in a situation to where, if you go CMC, you go Devon Achan, you go Garrett Wilson, mike Evans, and then you come back and then you're still able to get TMAC. I mean shit, right, it's pretty crazy.

Speaker 1:

Now again, I don't know if that would ever happen. That's super crazy. Now again, I don't know if that would ever happen.

Speaker 2:

That's super risk.

Speaker 1:

That's crazy high risk. Why are you trying to raise my blood pressure? Why are you trying to put?

Speaker 2:

me on medication.

Speaker 1:

If you take Devon Achan and CMC on the turn in the first round.

Speaker 2:

How fun, how fun though.

Speaker 1:

Super fun, but I'm going to be shitting my pants, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

You totally are. But then you you did it perfectly, john, with getting Brian Robinson Jr. So then you can sure that up a little bit and yeah, you're going to need to, you know, totally play the shit or not shit with Devon Aitken, kind of thing. But guys, it's totally viable and I and I'm calling this out because Johnny showed what it would be like for that third, fourth, fifth round If you were to flip-flop a few of these things. Look at what else is there, and so it could be interesting. Again, I wouldn't do it necessarily. I'm going Nico Collins and then CMC, exactly how he had it. But man, after a few beers Devon H starts looking real sexy. Right there, man, let me tell you I mean shit. And then you're talking CMC. Talk dirty to me, baby. But yeah, man, I mean it could be fun.

Speaker 1:

it's all I'm saying that's like the ultimate adrenaline junkie draft it totally is I'm on the turn.

Speaker 2:

Hold my beer right here hold my beer, here we go. Yeah, you're hanging from a cliff like this, right, yeah, give me a chan and give me a fuck it cmc, let's see what happens?

Speaker 1:

yeah, that's crazy. That would be fun. Crazy, that would be fun, man.

Speaker 2:

It's crazy Would be fun. But, dude, I agree with you, man, yeah, fun, well done. Well done in showing the viewers and listeners this draft. Let's go.

Speaker 1:

That is the draft. Thank you so much, guys. I hope you had as much fun as we did. We love doing this. Please want to see. We appreciate it. We'll get it up here and we'll do it for you. I promise you All right, please don't forget to follow us on social media everywhere. Guys, it's frankly fantasy football. We're everywhere. Join the community, come argue with us, tell us how we did in these drafts. Do you hate the CMC pick on the turn? Because everybody on fucking TikTok seems to hate that. I don't get it.

Speaker 2:

I'm taking it every time guys, I'm all over it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly, frankie. What do we have coming up?

Speaker 2:

Guys, we have coming up our running back episode, where Johnny and I are going to be diving into each particular division. We're going to be showing you what the situation is from the running back perspective who's the starter, who's the handcuff, who's the guys? You need to know about that. You might be targeting deeper in your drafts. That could really pop potentially end of year. So get ready for that particular episode. And then, of course, coming down the pipe, guys, we have our champions episode, which is where johnny and I are planting our flags and the guys that we are claiming as our champions for this 2025 season. So a lot to come.

Speaker 2:

And, lastly, guys, thank you, phyllis Willis from TikTok for giving us this recommendation. It was awesome. Right to just do a normal league. We haven't done a normal league, john. We've been doing a lot of 10-team super flex, 14-team three receiver one flex. You know all over the place, guys. So this was really fun to show you guys a standard format. But, like I mentioned it, like johnny said before, we're gonna get a couple more mock drafts. So keep the comments coming, keep the requests coming. We're gonna probably do a few more. So we will be prepared to show you guys a few different strategies that's right.

Speaker 1:

Please don't forget to hit that like subscribe and notification. Bell guys, it's going to tell you when these episodes are coming out. It's going to tell you when the next mock is coming out. We don't have very long we got about a week. We don't, we're all done, drafted, so let's go, baby. May the fantasy gods smile. We'll see you next time.
