Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Brave Pivot Podcast. Now, as entrepreneurs, it's so easy to get stuck in a cycle of stress and anxiety as you're managing all of the demands and responsibilities of running your business. Having stress and anxiety can lead to overwhelm and have negative impacts to your business, such as poor decision making, a lack of focus, decreased productivity, and even burnout. Which is the exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve. But hear me out, it doesn't have to be that way. It's important to remember that we have the power to take back control, to choose how we respond, and not let this temporary situation dictate the way you manage your business. Now by taking a few moments each day to pause, reflect and take action, you can break free of overwhelm and get yourself and your business back on track. Today I'll be sharing four steps that you can take to stop being overwhelmed, starting with step number one, identify what is causing overwhelm. This is critical. Overwhelm can be a difficult emotion to manage, and it's important to identify and understand the source of your overwhelm in order to move forward. Once you know the cause, you can then begin to strategize solutions and create a plan for addressing it. Moving on to step number two, declutter your mind and environment. Clutter in our minds and environment can be a major cause of stress and distraction. Decluttering your environment involves maybe getting rid of some physical clutter. Tidying up your workspace, maybe removing some old digital files and organizing your desk. Now, decluttering your mind can involve taking a few steps each day to maybe practice mindfulness or meditation. And this can help you clear any mental clutter that is preventing you from focusing on the task at hand. It's important to take that time to declutter both your mind and your environment in order to maximize productivity, increase focus, and reduce stress and anxiety. Now moving on to step number three, my favorite, find ways to work smarter and not harder. Working smarter and not harder has been a mantra that I have used pretty much all my working life. If there's a better way, I'm all ears. As an entrepreneur, it's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind of running your business, but it's important to take the time to find innovative ways and solutions to work smarter and more efficiently. There are many ways to accomplish this. Some examples include maybe using automation tools, delegating tasks, or hiring a virtual assistant. Now remember to take the time to evaluate which strategies make the most sense for your business and fits within your financial budget. Now moving on to the final step. Step number four, take time to recharge and reflect. Your mental health and wellbeing is the most important asset you have as a business owner. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of running a business. It's important to take time out for yourself to recharge and self-reflect. For me, that looks like taking a break and meditating in the middle of my day or stopping what I'm doing to take a walk, or, as you guys know, head to the beach. Now how you recharge and reflect might look a little different for you. You might step away from your desk or maybe grab a cup of coffee or go for a bike ride. However that looks for you, remember taking regular breaks to recharge your mind and body is essential to your mental and physical wellbeing. Setting aside time for yourself that will help you define balance, reduce stress, anxiety, and eliminate overwhelm. Now, let's recap those four steps. I first started with identifying what's causing the overwhelmed. Then I moved to declutter your mind and environment, next. I went to find ways to work smarter and not harder, and that final step was to take time to recharge and reflect. My friends, being an entrepreneur is a challenging journey, but it also can be an incredibly rewarding one as well. Understanding what overwhelm is and how it impacts you as an entrepreneur is the first step in learning how to manage it. Everyone has moments of feeling overwhelmed, including me. The important thing is to have awareness and have a plan to address it before it becomes a bigger issue. With the right coping strategies in place, you can begin to stop overwhelm and start being a healthier version of yourself for you and your business. I hope you found these four steps helpful and invite you to try and incorporate one or maybe a combination of them in your business.
