Georgia Stewart is the CEO and co-founder of Tumelo, a startup fintech platform giving everyday investors a transparent view of the companies they own and a shareholder voice on issues they care about.
Starting as an activist campaign at Cambridge University, Georgia and her co-founders championed the sustainable investment of the university’s £6 billion fund. They recognised a global problem: Millions of us contribute to our investment system through ISAs, workplace pensions, and other investments. Yet most of us have no visibility over where our money is going and no voice at the many companies we own through our investments.
The result? An investment system that is failing to address critical social, environmental and governance challenges.
I ask Georgia how Tumelo is addressing this challenge if the industry is welcoming this change and what a pandemic recovery means for ethical investing – if a “growth at all costs” attitude is a real concern or if public companies really are looking to build back better.
