Circle of Parks Podcast: Talking all things Walt Disney World

Episode #207: Docking Bay 7 Live Dining Review

Circle of Parks Episode 207

Have you wondered if the food in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge lives up to the incredible theming? Journey with us as we discover Docking Bay 7, the somewhat hidden quick-service restaurant tucked beside the Millennium Falcon in Hollywood Studios.

Our family's dining adventure reveals why this location offers exceptional value, especially for those on Disney's Dining Plan. The Andorian Fried Chicken Tip-yip steals the show with perfectly seasoned chicken thighs, while its spicier Persianak counterpart brings just enough heat without overwhelming. Even the roasted vegetable medley earns praise – a rare feat for theme park sides! We sample exclusive beverages like the Gold Squadron Lager, brewed specially for Galaxy's Edge, adding another layer of authenticity to the Star Wars experience.

What makes Docking Bay 7 truly special is its immersive atmosphere. Cargo delivery sound effects, themed food names, and detailed decor transport you straight into the Star Wars universe. While the adults appreciate the higher quality cuisine compared to typical quick service options, even our picky preteens give solid approval to the "legit" mac and cheese sides. At $16+ per entrée, plus the option to add exclusive alcoholic beverages, you'll maximize your dining plan credits here.

Whether you're a devoted Star Wars fan or simply looking for quality food amid your Hollywood Studios adventures, Docking Bay 7 delivers a dining experience worth seeking out. Subscribe to Circle of Parks podcast for more insider Disney dining reviews that help you navigate the parks like a pro!

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to Circle of Parks podcast episode number 207. We are bringing you a live dining review from Docking Bay 7 in Hollywood Studios. There is far too much to see and do. We are here to help guide you through. No Disney merch this time, because I'm just seeing so much in the park, so we're moving right on with the dining review.

Speaker 2:

I've got Disney merch.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you do.

Speaker 2:

There are Death Star popcorn buckets. Oh, that's right. Much in the park, so we're moving right on with the dining merch. Oh you do. There are death star popcorn buckets. Oh that's right, we got one yeah, last night.

Speaker 1:

And they have all these cool sound effects on it and everything too it is pretty cool.

Speaker 2:

So if you live in alderaan, I feel sorry for you. But yeah, they have death star, which apparently have been out for a while. I just didn't know about them. But we got one last night, me and Ryan Road Rise late at night and then, as we got off the ride, there was nobody in line to get them and we walked right up and got one. Right so yeah, yep, that's my Disney merch for the week.

Speaker 1:

There you go For this episode Yay.

Speaker 2:

Yes, disney vacation. All right, so we are here at Docking Bay. 7. Love, love, love. The theming. Here it is on point yes.

Speaker 1:

So if you hear a lot of noise in the background, there's all these different sound effects because it's like cargo being delivered and things.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and we are right outside of where you can get the Ronto wraps and just right next to the Millennium Falcon, so it's kind of hidden a little bit. It two wraps and just right next to the Millennium Falcon, so it's kind of hidden a little bit. You have to know where you're going to find it Right. But once you're in, it's just again with everything in Galaxy's Edge. The theming here is just awesome. I love it, love it, love it, love it. And if you two boys were having kid issues more than when they were smaller with the preteens than when they were smaller.

Speaker 1:

With the preteens, who would have thought an almost 13 year old and a 10 and a half year old would have more issues arguing with each other in the parks than when they were younger?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but here we are. But anyway, all right. So we did again. We're on the quick service dining plan and I think this is one of the better excuse me values of the quick service dining plan you can get, because the prices are a little bit higher but the food quality here is much better. So I had the Andorian fried chicken tipyip with white rice and roasted vegetables. The rice is just rice, but the chicken it is chicken thighs. A lot of flavor, fried, perfectly. And then I got the gold Squadron Lager, which is only brewed for Galaxy's Edge. Yes, very delicious, brittany.

Speaker 1:

Well, I basically got the same thing, except the spicy version. What is it called the spicy one again?

Speaker 2:

The Persianak.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but everything else, like Zach said, the vegetables, I eat my veggies and the vegetables were really good. You get a variety like cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, carrots and a few more and they're seasoned very nice. And then the chicken. It has a bit of a kick to it, so it is spicy but it's not overpowering. And then I think with the sauce the rice helps kind of balance it out. So I enjoyed it, the rice, because I had the spicy one, but I did try a bite. We're going to tell you what the boys got in a minute, but I'm just going to go ahead and say that their sides, one of their sides, was mac and cheese and it was some pretty legit, good mac and cheese, legit mac and cheese.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so Ryan had the smoked kadu pork ribs with macaroni and cheese and vegetables. Ryan, how were the ribs?

Speaker 1:

It was okay, just. Okay was Ryan. How were the ribs?

Speaker 2:

it was okay, just okay, yeah, like where they juicy dry. What dry? Okay, okay, all right. And then Nolan also had the Andorian fried chicken tipyip with macaroni and cheese and vegetables. No one, how was it? Pretty good yeah, did you all the more did you enjoy all your chicken?

Speaker 1:

yeah, what?

Speaker 2:

about the macaroni and cheese.

Speaker 1:

That was good. What would you rate the mac and cheese on a scale of 1 to 10? Like a 5 out of 10?

Speaker 2:

He said 8 earlier he said 8 earlier.

Speaker 1:

He's just being goofy right now. I took a bite of the mac and cheese and I would give it a 7.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and so with all the drinks. So the Andorian flat chicken take you up to $16.29, the Persian odd hot chicken take you up to $16.29, the ribs were $16.99. I think this is a very good value for your dining plan credit.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I would agree. I mean, you get a good portion of food for sure.

Speaker 2:

And the quality is much better. Yes, it is yes.

Speaker 1:

I wasn't sure what to expect and I was very pleased.

Speaker 2:

When you first walked in here you were like whoa, yes, wow, and the Gold Squadron Lager is $15.50, which will put you over that quick service dining. Credit value, Right, if you get an alcoholic beverage. So it does put you over that. So, Brittany, would you recommend this as a quick service restaurant in Hollywood Studios?

Speaker 1:

I definitely would.
