You guested on a podcast. The episode aired. You shared it to your stories for 24 hours — and then you moved on.
That's the most common mistake podcast guests make. And it's costing you.
In this episode I'm walking you through exactly what to do with your podcast episodes after they air so that every appearance keeps working for you long after the publish date.
I'm covering:
How to build a Spotify playlist of all your guest appearances and use it as a resource in your DMs
Turning your episode into a blog post to increase your digital footprint and get found organically
Pulling the best quotes and turning them into carousel posts and shareable content
How to work your episodes into your email list
Why none of this has to happen the week the episode airs — and how to go back and use older episodes right now
This is not a to-do list dump. It's a menu of ideas. Pick one. Start there. You are not behind.
Oh my gosh, how did we get to this time of year? The kids are back in school, it's fall, the weather's finally cooling off here in Minnesota. Anyways, this episode is gonna be very actionable and it's gonna apply to you if you have spoken on podcasts before and what to do with those episodes afterwards. It could also apply to you if you have your own podcasts, and it can be ideas for what you can do with your episodes after you've published them out into the podcast world because it's really endless. This episode is not to overwhelm you and not to make you think that you need to do all of these things all at once. This is something that are good tasks for a VA to do. These are things you can add later as you get consistent with other things. So don't use this to stop you, but this can be a big factor in the sort of puzzle pieces, if you will, putting them together in making a podcast tour work for you and really making those episodes be a really big bang for your buck and showcase you as an authority figure. So often we get on a podcast, or even if we have our own podcast and we share it to our stories. You know, the host tags you in the episode on their stories, and so you click to add it to your story and you leave it and you let it go. And you're really leaving a lot on the table here because the episode airing is really the key to showcasing you as this person that speaks on podcasts, this authority figure, this thought leader in your industry. So it's a big deal, but you can feel overwhelmed easily because it is really endless of what you could do. So here's some ideas, and some are a little bit out of the box. So I hope that it gives you some ideas of what you can do and what might feel good to you. Again, this is not to overwhelm you. These are ideas. I don't do all of these, I have done them all from time to time, and I go in different seasons of how I like to use things, starting with one that should probably be obvious, but I don't think it is. At least it wasn't for me. It was someone told me, hey, put all of your podcast guesting episodes as a playlist on Spotify. Did not think of that on my own. So thanks to uh my coach Megan for saying that early on as a quick tip to do that. So you can make a playlist on Spotify. Not every podcast is gonna be on Spotify, but most of them air on Spotify, and so you can link those on there. You can keep a kind of a running document like a Google Doc or something with all the links of the episodes that you've been on if you'd like. That way it's super easy to grab one to share. Most of my episodes that I guess on, they're all about podcast guesting, but some end up being a little different than others, obviously, because hosts are different and they ask you different guiding questions. But you might be a copywriter and you might talk on one episode about email funnels, and then you might be on a different show and maybe it was more about website copy or SEO. Like there's a lot of different things. You can have more than one speaking topic. Again, it should be tied back to your business. That's a whole nother podcast episode. I have many about choosing your speaking topics, how to do that, why to have them, and what they should reflect back to. But it's always back to your business and your offers. But let's say you speak on different topics. So then when you're in the DMs or talking with a potential new client, it becomes this really great resource where you can share that link of that episode and say, hey, this would be a great place to get, you know, some good starting information. Cause usually podcast episodes are also kind of a starting off point for people and not necessarily like high, high level in that niche specifics, but more of an actionable starting off point for someone who is trying to get started with their email copy for their business and their email list, right? It'd be a great tool to potentially send to a client, a new client that you're trying to possibly book or they're trying to see if it's a right fit. So you can use that playlist, those links to be sending to different people and using in the DMs to send to people that are potentially interested in signing up with you. Okay, that's one way. Number two, you can take the episode and make it a blog. I have had bloggers on my podcasts, and they have taken the episode and made it a blog. I've done blog swaps with people where I wrote about my topic, they wrote about theirs, and we posted each other's on our websites. This is another form, much like a podcast episode, that is long form content and it's out there, it's searchable, and it can be a really great tool to just really increase your digital footprint and the backlinks and things that circle back to your website and your offers. And it's just gonna make it more likely that when a person goes to search for what you do in Google or other um AI or search engines, they're going to find you organically. And ultimately, everybody wants that in business, right? So that we're not working uphill and super hard and walking uphill both ways to school and back up in our business. We don't want to feel like that. We want to feel like what we're doing is really working for us. So if you like to write, if you like to blog, that can be a way I don't recommend just grabbing the transcript and putting that as a blog. You can use the transcript, but you want to change it so it's readable. Don't pick that one if you're gonna just like regurgitate the transcript and not put it in more of like a readable context because it's much different than someone talking on a show. That's number two. One I've been really into lately is pulling quotes from episodes, like the best, juiciest lines, like the lines that either I have said or a guest has said, and it's been like, whoa, like they got me good on that one, or like it stops in your tracks. Sometimes they're just so simple that you're like, duh, why didn't I think of that? Or actionable, but just pulling those types of things out, and you can do this for episodes you've been on, you can listen to the episode, and it's literally simple as that. Like when I'm editing episodes for my podcasts or episodes that I've been on shows, shout out to Samarov because that's where I got this format of like hero cell posts. Not that she invented putting quotes on the internet, but she's what triggered me and being like, Yeah, she did it when I was on her show. And I thought, oh my gosh, I said that great things. And again, if I'm reading that thinking that, then that's likely what someone else is reading. Like, oh my gosh, she does look smart, like she does know what she's doing when it comes to her niche, right? And that's what we want people to think about you as well. So you can absolutely do that with episodes, and then it can live on your feed in your brand colors and whatever else. Just go ahead and make sure you tag that host and say, Hey, from this episode, and that can just be a line on the bottom or one of the carousel slides, like listen to the whole episode on the podcast cementor podcast and just like link the show, tag the host. They're going to love that because a host always wants the guests to share the episodes. And so these are things that are really above and beyond. Like, bare minimum, a host wants you to hit yes, add to your story, and let the episode be on your stories for 24 hours, but that's like bottom of the list. And so you're really gonna stand out to a host if you do some of these other things. And again, I do not do all of these every single episode. So don't feel like this is a Candace dumping a to-do list on you. That is not what this is for. This is to generate ideas, and I want you to lean into which one is like piquing your interest, which one feels doable right now, which one feels good to you, most exciting to you because you love this form of content, right? So grabbing quotes, sharing that as carousel posts and things like that, and it the timing of this. Let's say you're on an episode and it aired six months ago. You can go do this. If you think, oh, having a quotes posts or like something like that that's shareable for other people, they might share a slide from that. That's still timeless because that content you were sharing. Hopefully, if you're sharing on podcasts, you're not sharing things that are super time sensitive because that's not a great use of your time, and there's a better strategy around that, and we can talk about that. Sharing this six months later, you're not gonna offend the house, they're gonna be so excited because again, that's more exposure, like when you tag them that you're directing people to go listen to an episode that's on their show. So it's a win-win for every player involved. Another one, if you don't have an email list started, you need an email list for your business because you don't own your followers on Instagram, you don't own those things. So if those are gone or you get locked out or whatever, that it's gone and you don't get access to it. You don't get to download the followers and have their contact or their email. So starting an email list if you don't have one is definitely something I would say get going on it. At least start collecting those emails. Emailing, if you're emailing on a regular basis, throw that in there. That can be one of your emails. Now, if you're on a significant amount of shows, like last year in 2025, I was on 50 podcasts, so there was multiples airing sometimes in the same week. It's a little much to be sharing all those episodes at once in an email. So, what I like to do for mine, if I'm not gonna send a whole email about that whole episode, is whatever that email is gonna be for that day, at the end, I like to throw on a PS line and say, you know, just something really simple, like, hey, you can go listen to the, you know, whatever podcasting mentor podcast, that's my podcast name, but somebody else's podcast that I was on, and catch my episode, you know, and I like to throw it in there because it is my niche to be like, I'm not just telling you to get on a podcast tour, guest on podcast, like I'm still actively doing it myself. And so you can catch my latest episode here. So something super simple like that can also be added. So again, these don't need to be gigantic tasks, but slap a PS line and say, Hey, I was on a podcast this week. If we talked about this, here's the title of it, listen to the whole episode here. That can be another option as well, if you're not doing a full email. And again, pretty timeless here, too. So I've shared things months later when I've had space in my emails and throwing that on and and put those things in different places. So it doesn't need to be. It's great if it can be the week that it airs. That's awesome. A host will love that, but they're also gonna love this later on. If you go back to some that you've been on and do some of these things, it's gonna also benefit you and them. And then, of course, is to just post, make another make a post on Instagram about it, make a post somewhere about it on threads, share it again. You know, I actually guessed it on a podcast six months ago. The host is now turning every episode of hers into a blog, so she's going back through and resharing all the episodes. So she just tagged me in two reels with clips from the episode, is now taking me in her blog that she turned our episode into. So you can seriously do these things, even if it's not the week of that it aired, right? It's not like time has been lost and you can't share these things or do these things, but you can make a post, you can have it live on your feed. Always credit that podcast. That's gonna go a long way in sharing audiences and just keeping the people that are allowing you to speak on their shows happy and in a good relationship with them, because that's also about being professional and being respectful of the time that it takes for someone to create an entire podcast episode and have you guests on it and then publish it and edit it and all the things. It's really time consuming to do guest episodes. So you always want to make sure that you're tagging them and referring back to their show as well. So this can add a lot to your podcast tour and to your guesting, and even to your own podcast. If you have episodes that you are thinking, how should I share these more? Where can I share them more? It's gonna add a lot to your authority and to you being seen as that industry leader and thought leader in your niche. Good luck. Again, we're not doing all of this at one single time. You're gonna start with something, maybe make your playlist on Spotify, start there, start DMing people with an episode link, something small. Add a PS line to the next email you send, but we're not gonna do it all at once and get all worked up. You're not behind. You're right where you're supposed to be. All right, see you next week.
