In Episode 3, we talk about Ownership in Open Innovation. Our awesome panel consists of: 

Rudi Bekkers is a full professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, and also senior researcher at Dialogic innovatie & interactie. He works on Intellectual Property, and especially focuses on its relation to technical standards. Apart from academic work, he carries out studies for policy bodies, such as the European Commission, and serves as expert witness in court cases. 

Ingrid Willems is CEO and founder of DataScouts. In her own words she’s “an entrepreneur, business analysts, sparring partner and strategist, building businesses and guiding organisations in their digital transformation, breaking down silos and leveraging data a company owns, generates or has access to.” 

Marianne Weile is board member at Circular Food Technology. She has worked for many years on bringing new products to the market securing the best prices through building and using IPR (Intellectual Property Rights incl. patents). She knows how to buy and sell technologies and develop the most competitive products through establishing strong collaborations with universities or other companies. She helps strengthen security lowering the risk of competition from copycat products - not taking away that risk but building evidence and enforcing patents through litigation - also in China. 

Markus Nordberg is the Head of Resources Development at CERN in a new unit called Development and Innovation. Their mandate is to create initiatives that support detector R&D and related activities at for LHC upgrades. The focus is on detector technology development involving and engaging external partners such as industry and external research institutes, identifying and fostering the development and innovation potential outside the domain of particle physics. 

Ioana Stefan is our expert from academia is. She is an Assistant Professor of Innovation Management at Mälardalen University in Sweden and received her PhD from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the tensions between creating and appropriating value in Open Innovation, paradox theory and intellectual property protection mechanisms. 

Alberto Tornero Suárez is our expert from industry. He is a partner at PwC in charge of the high growth companies area. Day to day he works with the reality of IP and data management, a topic that he also teaches at the EOI Business School.
