David Simmons is the Founder and Executive Director of the UBU Project, an arts education outreach company specializing in social emotional arts integration. Their mission is the prevention of youth suicide, addiction and bullying through social-emotional arts integration residencies.
David's diverse career as an educator, performer, producer, recording artist, inspirational speaker, worship leader and mental health advocate has taken him all over the world. He is a thriving survivor of his own suicide attempts, is a recovering alcoholic, celebrating 29 years of sobriety, dealt with bullying in school and lives with the managed mental health diagnoses of depression, PTSD and anxiety. His life experiences offer valuable insight and he brings a unique and hope-filled perspective to the kids he works with at the UBU Project.
