Welcome to Resilient Living Podcast. I am your host, Terry and Minifield, excited about another opportunity to talk about all things resilient. I just wanted to take the time to thank those of you that are listening and that are sharing this podcast. I believe that resilience is important and I believe that every story matters. I am currently having 92 countries within this great big global world that we live in that are now listening and sharing this podcast. So I'm pretty excited and pretty psyched up just about sharing more information, sharing nuggets that you may have already heard, and just reminding you of your existence and that your story really matters. All of those details can be details that help someone else. And that's what I love about resilience. Resilience is something, it actually becomes a verb. It's not a noun, it's a verb that we use when we share it with others. We share what we've gone through for insight, for understanding. And sometimes those nuggets that we share is just what that other person needed to hear in order to help them get through challenges or understand victories, understand the momentum, and understand that we were created. We were created by God in his image, and all things are possible when we believe. So it is important for us to give ourselves the space to make the realization to make the most of the time that we have. And I just have to admit, I have a pretty good life myself. But when I take a look at all of the time that we spent, I don't think that I always gave myself the space to realize the presentness of what was around me, or the space to really refine what my goals are, what my intentions were at that time. I was absolutely in the grind trying to get things done. And hey, there's nothing wrong with the grind. But this podcast today is to remind you to take the time, in the space to reignite those things that you're putting on the shelf. That in the grind of getting up and going to work, in the grind of getting through school and opportunities that are presented to you for you to learn, that you take the time in that space to connect with those things that make you who you are. I'll never ever forget the times that I spent some time dreaming. You see, a lot of people don't remember that we have an imagination that God has given us. And in that imagination, it doesn't have to be bad things that we imagine. It can be great things that we see ourselves doing. Dreams that we're putting forth in our heart and the energy to accomplish those dreams that no one else understands until you absolutely get to that goal. We see it all the time in this world. We see athletes that continue to train over and over and that visualize and imagine themselves succeeding. We see entrepreneurs and people in media and even actors, all these people that are before us in a grand way, or what people esteem. We see them walking through the steps to get to their final goal and their victory. And what we have to remember is that we are no different than they are, especially in the context of what God wants to do with us and for us. We have to make the time in the space for us to be able to identify and reignite those things that are inside of us. Now I know on the grind when you have people that you're taking care of and people that are depending on you, I know that it's hard. I've been in that situation where my going to work wasn't uh it wasn't an option, it became a necessity. You know, my getting my education to be able to provide more and do more for my family became a necessity if that's what I wanted to achieve. But in the midst of going through the grind, I made time to keep dreaming. And I just believe in every situation, when you have situations that come to you where they're not good situations and it doesn't look in your favor, that you have to take the time and the space to be able to reignite what's inside of you that allows you to overcome that situation. And you know, I'm really talking about the resilience that you continue to develop. There's so many situations and so many things that happen in our life that we take for granted and we don't give ourselves the credit of what we've overcome. Now, of course, me being a person of faith, I'm gonna count on my faith to get me through those situations. So whether you do that or you don't do that, understand and know taking the time and the space to evaluate where you are and how you are connected to your future, your goals, your dreams makes all the difference when you're dealing with something, especially when you're dealing with things that you cannot control. You know, in I was working two years ago now in a Fortune 100 company and I spent over a decade there. I actually was pursuing getting to 20 years at that company, and one day, after I'm sure some discussion, um, the higher-ups in the company decided that my division was no longer needed. And so they made the announcement that we were no longer going to be employed by the organization. You know, in all sincerity, I was really happy for the opportunity to do something different because I was in the grind believing that I needed to have this position, that I needed to have this job, that I've worked there for so long, that you know, there really wasn't any other choice until I found an opportunity that was greater or more than what I had there. But the thing that I remember the most is feeling I've given all of these years, my time, my energy, and my efforts to this organization, and they one day decided that I was no longer necessary for them to continue. I was never I wasn't necessary for them to continue. Man, was that a bright light shined in my face to let me know that my time, my energy, my skills, and this new corporate America and how things run, that it was no longer the value that they needed in order to continue their operations. Wow. And I learned in that that me taking the time to really change my mind about how I perceived that to be an opportunity for me to do more of what I needed to connect back with, my dreams, my goals, all of what was inside of me. Man, I needed to turn it to towards that rather than looking at what I was leaving behind and a choice that was made for me that was out of my control. I needed the time and the space. And I was so grateful for that opportunity. I'm grateful for being there so many years, you know, using that income, that that whole dynamic to go to school, all the things that I learned in that career that helped perfect who I am today. But I'm so grateful for the time and the space to disconnect from what I think that I need and connect with who I authentically am. We all have the same number of hours in the day. And I got to the point where, man, I had a choice either I was going to be sad and frustrated, or I was gonna be grateful and excited about all the new things that I was gonna be able to do, even though that was something that connected me for so many years. I think in a lot of situations, we start identifying with the situation rather than being an individual contributor in that situation, and we've got to make the separation because if we don't make the separation, we will continue to do the same thing and expect different results when we are the same person that's not linking up to the actual things inside of us that drive us to be more and do more. You know, there was the Emmy Awards recently here in the United States, and that's an award that actors and actresses get for their accomplishments in theater, in television, all that kind of thing. And you know, me, one of my favorite things is when people win, the acceptance speech and just the victory of someone being able to win. I love that from the Olympics to award shows. I just absolutely love that. And what I could hear the most was what was top of mind of a lot of people when they win something, they give credit to all the people around them that supported them, all the people that helped them get into the position where they're recognized for their talents and their gifts. And I thought about that. I was like, wow, look at them taking the time within that space to acknowledge those that are around them. How much time do we take? How much space do we offer ourselves to acknowledge the God in heaven that's given us all the talents and gifts in order to make this world a better place? Now, I know, I know, sometimes the days out in this economy are bleak, political world is just confusing, and there's so many things that are going on that we can't control. But what we can control is the time and the space and the effort that we give to ourselves to connect with what's real, to connect with our gifts and our talents to help make the world a better place. I decided a long time ago that I no longer wanted to be the person on the side watching other people live. I didn't want to do that anymore. I love people, I champion people to get all of what they can get, to do all of what they're called to do. I love it so much. But I spend so much time watching other people that I was losing the connection of what my gifts and talents are, of what I'm supposed to be doing. And the more time that goes on, the less energy you'll put in the effort of tapping into who you are, how you are, and absolutely who God created you to be. It's not a mistake that you like what you like, it's not a mistake that you have these gifts and talents that God wants to use to have you show up in the world to be able to show people who God is and what he can do because he did it for you. We need to take the time and the space to connect with the thing that we cherish the most. Now, for you, it could be cooking. You know, there's chefs out there all over the place, and then there's chefs and people out there that don't have the training to be a chef, but yet have a heart. There are people that design things, they're so very talented with their design and their eye and all that kind of stuff, and they don't have the formal training that some people do. There are things that you are designed to do, that you have a natural gifting. I would just recommend that you connect with that thing and allow yourself to do that and do it with the most intent and the time that we have in that 24 hours. And you know, if you're in the grind, I remember being in the grind. I remember knowing that I didn't even know how much time I would have to do to be able to get and connect what was going to make me uh show up in the world the way that God would have me to show up. So I started with the little things, you know. How about writing it down, journaling, watching videos? YouTube is an incredible value for you to be able to get and look as to other people that are doing the gifts and talents that you have. But don't miss it, no matter what you do. Tap in, connect with the gifts that are inside of you. Know and understand that God created you for a reason, and in that reason, you'll be able to make a difference in this world. I love you for listening. Thank you so much. 92 countries we are absolutely in right now, and I'm just thrilled that resilience is not a topic, it's actually a platform where people are starting to understand that their story matters. Until next time. See you soon.
