Confidence and Self-Love: A Week-Long Conversation with Laci Wall

Samantha Parker, Laci Wall Season 3 Episode 297

We're going on a week-long journey with Laci, a TEDx speaker, a dance fitness instructor, and co-founder of The Seven Elements of Wellness. Our topic this week is self-love, confidence, and being comfortable with discomfort. We're diving deep into Laci's story and her secrets to living a life filled with self-love and confidence.

Over the next six days, Laci will share snippets of her life and journey to finding her element. It's a safe space in her dance classes, everyone's comfortable being uncomfortable. People who don't know how to dance or work out can gain confidence through her classes. Even if they don't like mirrors, people leave feeling more confident. Laci steps into her element when the music starts.

The magic of everyday life and finding the glitter in every situation is the theme of this series.

Are you ready to glitter your day? Let's get right to it. I'm the Samantha Parker, and here's your daily dose of glitter. Hey guys, welcome back to the Glitter Podcast. This week is a special week, so for the next seven days, I am sitting down with my friend Lacey. Hey girl, how are you? Hey, what's going on?

What's up? And we are gonna be talking about self-love, confidence. And it's not really as easy as you think it is to show up. And this is surprising to me because you teach dance so I feel like you're the most confident person in the world. People say that about me too. They're like, you put out these videos, and I'm like, yeah, but I stressed about how my ass looked for 20 minutes.

You know? Oh my goodness. No, totally. It just like, and it's interesting because. Growing up, I never would've put myself in front of people. And people know me now as dancing and having the confidence, but I never was able to get in front of people in the first place. So it's interesting cause when I get in front of people, it's like music comes on and then I just come to life.

Oh, you were an amazing dancer. So, real quick though, we're gonna dive into, this week, we're gonna do seven different topics, and today we're really just gonna be talking about who you are and your magic. And then for the next, like six days after that, you guys can catch little snippets about just really cool things that Lacey's done in her life.

So, okay. First off, like just gimme a quick intro who you are.  I could do it though. Like you're a TEDx speaker. You took a dance class. Like I go, I've gone to this class a couple of times and embarrassed myself, but I'm getting better. But like, how do you introduce yourself? Who do you feel like you are, that you want the world to see?

First of all, I always introduce myself as, hi, I'm Lacy Wall, a k a l Dub, L for Lacy and Dub for the w And my last name I would say I'm Lacy, or I'm L Dub. And you're the club, right? So I teach,  here in St. George. I teach a dance fitness class called L Dub Club. And it was really just a space to to create a comfortable space to just be.

So balance blend of dance and fitness. It's like playing a just dance game. You've experienced it. Oh my God. It's like playing a just dance game. I think that's like putting it mild. The good thing about when I go to your classes, it puts me so out of my comfort zone. And you know this, I've told you where I say like stupid things because I feel so out of my element.

But it is like so cheer element. And in fact, speaking of elements, you're also like the co-founder of this really big community event called The Seven Elements of Wellness, right? Right. Yeah. That's different areas of wellness, spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, nutritional, physical, and financial. And I found that I was, I was touching all these areas in my dance class.

Like that's where I learned it. By putting myself in front of everybody I was learning about. Like everybody, we're all living this, these air of wellness. And I created this safe space for everybody to, to feel comfortable with being uncomfortable. Like people they don't know how to dance, they know how to work out.

They don't like looking in front of the mirrors. They don't even like, like being around people really. And it's interesting cause I've had a couple people that don't even like to leave their house that found their way to my class. It's something that's to where it gives people confidence to like be out in life and be around people and just.

Like, like I said, be comfortable with being uncomfortable, you know? Yeah. Okay guys. So for the next week, you're gonna casually see here on my podcast. We're gonna have so much fun. But before we dive into tomorrow, like tell me what is the glitter to you? I. What is the glitter to me? Yeah. Cuz you know, I define glitter as like looking for the magic in every day because it's not gonna come find you.

Right? You can either live in a world that's working for you, or you can live in a world that's like working against you. So the glitter to me is like taking on that attitude of like, Hey, this sucks, but I'm gonna find the magic. Or, Hey, this is really amazing. You know, it doesn't matter what's happening in your day.

There's always something that, it's kinda like, you know, an attitude of gratitude. Right? For sure. That's like me, like that's what I, that's what I love about. About people. It's like my purpose is like connecting with people and finding that element. Like I love elements, right? It's like I believe that everyone has a special purpose and passion for what they do.

I call it their element. They're really, and just, it's something that, that thing that lights 'em up. And so I look for that in life and I look for that in other people and watching other people and finding that in others.  It helps me reflect on myself and what lights me up. That's awesome.

Okay guys, check back in tomorrow because Lacey's gonna be spilling all about her TEDx talk, which is like a huge deal. So we'll see you guys tomorrow.
