This is History and Comment for Monday the 8th of September 2025.   Garrison Keilor, known for his Live Radio Show on A Prairie Home Companion.   Opened his monologues with the line, It has been a quite week in Lakw Wobegon.       I have been away from the microphone for a few weeks.   These programs are fun to produce, but they take time and there seems to be no end to the demands on my personal time in the Summer.   They also do not generate an income and as such must take a back seat.   Sometimes it is hard to justify the time spent vs doing other things.   I would like to think they have a lasting impact. Getting people to think and consider the world around them in a meaningful way.   Then some days I wonder if I am just ranting to myself.  

Last week was the local Antique Show.  Not just general antiques but farm related things and tractors.  With a nice dose of Flea Markets and things to interest the entire family.   I have for nearly the 41-year run of the show had a few items on display.    I like to tell the story despite the apparent popularity of the event. The club has a serious problem.    They are very good at antique tractors, cars, machinery and steam engines. They are not very good at maintaining antique people.   Those of us youngsters when the show began are now getting a few gray hairs.    I was a bit shocked talking to one of my generation and hearing his list of ailments.     I may not be 25 anymore but I am far younger in practical terms than many my age.    It is real scarry in some ways to realize that the small kids that came thought and shelled corn 35 plus years ago, will soon be grandparents.  

The show is a chance to meet new folks, listen to their stories and tell a few.   I use the show as an outlet for my interest in Seed Corn History.  But there are also friends who stop by just to say Hi and catch up.   Such was the case of the last visitor on Saturday afternoon.   An engineer I worked close to in my paying job of 30 years.   A brilliant engineer who could talk in detail about a long list of topics.   He has been dealing with a rare form of cancer for some time and that came up in conversation quickly.   The guy is not some nut job,  he is quite capable of discussing nuclear physics.  He was of the opinion that we are on the brink of the details of Covid-19 and the vaccine becoming public and it is not a pretty story.  He blames his rare form of cancer on the vaccine.  

If you were paying attention last week to the news. Robert F Kennedy Jr.  was up on capitol hill in some hearings on health issues and was getting a lot of push back.    We have talked in the past how vaccines were discovered.   Essentially, exposing the bodies immune system to a pathogen that was related to a disease and causing it to develop resistance. The first studies were with small pox and cow pox.   Small pox was a major health issue and cow pox a weaker less virulent version.  But people who got cow pox did not get small pox.    A doctor began inflicting cow pox as a preventive to the more serious disease.   It was cutting edge at the time but hardly what we would call modern medicine.   

There are about as many urban legends about vaccines as there are sightings of the Loch Ness Monster or Big Foot.   Folks are taking things out of context and going nuts.   One is about the chemical preservative in vaccine.  Yes, the are bad stuff, but in such low doses as to serve a purpose without causing harm.   The analogy I like to use is common grain alcohol is a serious poison, yet folks consume large quantities on a regular basis. Considering it reasonably safe.   

But that brings us to Government mandates.  Should the Government force people to take a vaccine?   This is where things got dicey during Covid?  And we are not talking some muted form of the disease but a new type of vaccine.   The Covid-19 vaccine and the technology has been in development since the late 1980’s.  The idea is to import into the body a strand of Messenger RNA, inside a drop of oily fat.  The RNA strand is a precursor to DNA the genetic code of all living cells.  Once in the body it begins using the cells to create proteins that manipulate the immune system.   Several large pharmaceutical companies have looked at the technology and backed away over the feasibility and cost.   

The technology is quite close to doing in humans what GMOs do to plants.  We are not just exposing the immune system to a survivable pathogen in order to create immunity to a more severe one but inserting a new foreign protein.   One that may in fact continue to replicate endlessly.  This point alone should have made it voluntary.  

RFK Jr. comments and the actions of a couple of states to reduce the Government mandates for school children to have a list of vaccines have drawn a lot of fire from some sectors.  In a perfect world we would have both sides of an argument be completely unbiased and looking at scientific facts.   From different perspectives.   But we do not live in a perfect world. There is lots dollars floating around.   Pfizer who was the first to get a Covid vaccine to market stood to profit greatly. They poured money into politicians like water.   One can reasonably bet they still are.   If every school child is mandated to get a list of vaccines, where does that put them?   How could I profit if Congress mandated that everyone listen to this program?   And I got to change $5 to each listener.   I could easily pay a few dollars to some key congressmen.   

Where we went off the rail during Covid, was it is the Governments place to provide sound, accurate and unbiased information to the public.    The public then can make informed decisions about their lives and the lives of their dependents.   The Government did not do that. PERIOD.   In fact they did just the opposite.  

While the details of the nature and affects of the mandated vaccine are still much debated it should be becoming clear it was far from harmless.   But that is not the biggest gaff the Government pulled.   There is a much larger debate on-going about the exact origins of the Virus.   Do not expect the full details to ever be made public.   

Back during the Clinton era there were daily stories of misdoing.   Bill was a small-time Governor, who was little more than an overaged frat boy.  The evil player was more likely than not Hillary.    She might also be the smart one in the mix.    At the time I tried to digest the stories presented in an intelligent manner.   The conclusion I came to was that if just 10% of what was suggested was true, the pair should be locked up for life.     Sadly, the only facts to come out over time is there were a large number of suicides and the pair got very rich.   

Today it is reasonable to conclude there were some very serious breaches of public trust in the Government.     Some very mad scientist research was most likely paid for by the US. Research that would have been illegal here.   But to sidestep illegal, Government officials sent technology and money to a hostile Country, Communist China and allowed them to develop germ warfare and kill millions around the world. The even scarier part is we do not know what lessons they learned and did not tell us.   

We do not now the full extent of the affects of the Virus or the vaccine in the long term?   If you want to look for teason on the highest levels,   it may very well lie in the origins and actions around Covid-19.   

One final thought.    We should be an open society.  Individual Liberty is one of our founding principals.   The Governments place is not to dictate how we live our lives.   But to provide respected information both pro and con to an issue.   Then let the individual decide what is the best course for themselves.
