Welcome to the final episode of Threads Podcast: Life Unfiltered. In this episode, Jason and Mike (and Ben) reflect on the highs and lows of their journey and share one thing they wish they could have done differently on the show. They also have a special surprise, as Mike has a sentimental gift for Jason.
As we come to the end of this podcast, we cannot help but think about the moments that have defined our time together. We have shared our stories, laughed, cried, and learned so much from each other and our guests. However, looking back, we realize there is one thing we wish we could have done differently on the show.
Before we say our final goodbyes, Mike has a surprise gift for Jason. Over the years, we have become more than just co-hosts, we have become close friends. This gift is a symbol of the bond we have created through this podcast.
In conclusion, we want to thank our listeners for joining us on this journey. We hope that you have learned as much from us as we have from you. This podcast may be ending, but the memories and experiences we have gained from it will stay with us forever

The best part about uh Verners and Rodka's it looks like whiskey. You know what? It does. I did look at that a little bit. Minus the bubbles, of course. People can't see our high def cameras.
SPEAKER_03We got some ugly views normally, then. That's true. They're like, what in the world do we normally see?
SPEAKER_01Right. Hey Adam. Thanks for moving that mic so I could hear the cord. That's not the noise either. No, it's it's a secondary noise. There's just so there's something else. I don't know what it is.
SPEAKER_03Something under the table.
SPEAKER_01You know, I had a noise, I don't know if it was in gig or not, but it was like I could see it. It was, and I think it was on my end. Oh no. And I don't know if it was this show or gig, but I like I had to go and no, it was gig. I had to cut. It stopped after like 15 minutes, but when I wouldn't talk, it was like something was rattling. Something by you, though. Yeah, it was me, and I couldn't figure out what it was, but who knows? Somebody's under the table all the time. What? That's awkward. What are you talking about? That's what she said. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm trying to get my buttons.
SPEAKER_03Well played.
SPEAKER_02Well played.
SPEAKER_03Well played, Jason Gerald. So Michael.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Would you like to start the show?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_01No. Procrastinate. Why? So everyone, Mike thinks that I'm gonna cry tonight. Okay, so anyone who is on are there many people online? It's just Kate and Adam right now. Well, there's three people. Only two have commented.
SPEAKER_03Okay, tell me how many times do you think Jason is going to cry or tear up during this episode? I mean, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Why is this? Sorry, I'm trying to log into Facebook. I'm just curious if it actually went to Facebook or not. Because I made it public, so I'm just curious. Um, I'm not gonna well I might tear up. You're gonna tear up. You think so? At least twice.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I mean maybe we'll see. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, it's live. Okay, cool. Perfect. Even live on Facebook. I think so. I I see it in the uh nope, it's live. Cool. Perfect. Do you want me to share it live?
SPEAKER_03Nah. No? Who cares about the numbers at this point? What if it blows up enough to pay somebody to do all the work we don't want to?
SPEAKER_01That'll never happen. But like what if this one does? Nope. This ship has sailed. I will take that money and apply it to gig in hey guys podcast lab. Okay, no one give any money then. Adam says three times. Oh man.
SPEAKER_03Three times. I he might be right. I think two, but he might be right.
SPEAKER_01Are you gonna start that? Oh, we're drinking. I know I said in the Patreon I wasn't gonna drink, but Mike said he wanted to bring something, and I was like, all right, I'll have one drink. I drank a lot in Mexico. Down Mexico. We'll talk about that.
SPEAKER_03Well, friends, enemies, and Jason, welcome to one last final episode. The grand finale. The final finale is what I have labeled it so far of Threads Podcast, Life Unfiltered. We are thankful that you are joining us. If this is your first time joining us, we are sorry. Some bad news. Or maybe you've now found your best podcast, and there's 209 other episodes for you to listen to and to figure out how in the hell we got here. So welcome, Jason. It was a sad driveover. I bet for one last one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So how how are you doing with it? In general, like I said before the show, I'm feeling okay. I actually feel bad that I feel okay. Should I feel like you know, you keep saying that you want me to cry and that kind of stuff, but I'm like, I I don't know. And don't everyone listening, don't take that the wrong way. Like this wasn't important to me. Jason has put this in his box and put it back up on the shelf.
SPEAKER_03It's on the shelf. He's done on the shelf. Just just just just like with Megan. He put it, he dealt with it and put it on the shelf.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is currently on the shelf. And uh who knows how long it's gonna be up there. I mean, I'm not currently going to therapy, so um, yeah, here we are. So, Jason, who has made this show possible other than you, myself, and Ben? For the last time, thank you to Threads Podcast. What a dumb ass. I haven't even taken a sip yet. Thank you to Irvine's Auto Repair, Grand Rapids Hybrid, and EV. They are the sponsor of Threads Podcast, Life Unfiltered, and we can't thank them enough for that. If you do need any kind of service in regards to maintenance, or if your car is a piece of shit and it needs more work, or if you, you know, just limp it in, whatever you need. Call them at 532-6600, or you can schedule online Irvines.com. Of course, uh, they have the free loaner program where you know you got to have insurance, of course. Well, I know it sounds stupid, but people get ticked about it. You have to have uh like full coverage insurance, you can't just have PLPD. But um, so go ahead and uh take advantage of that because who the hell wants to be without a car when you're getting shit repaired? It's the worst. You don't realize how valuable your car is. It's it's freedom. It is anytime you like, okay, I'm gonna go run to the store. Oh, wait, I don't have a car. Well, especially if you like if you'd have a share with a working spouse. Yeah, it'd be terrible. I don't know how families do that. I mean, you'd have to have like the perfect work schedules. Yeah. But I actually, if it, if it was if I lived in the city and had a job where I had could catch the bus, I would as long as I'd have to jump on four buses. Like I feel like the transportation downtown, it's not like boom, boom, boom, like real quick. It's you got to go for this bus for 30 minutes and then get on this bus for another 20 minutes. I'm like, I don't want to do that. Yeah, that'd be crazy. But um, yeah, check them out 532 6600 or Irvines.com for all your sexy car needs. And then, of course, our Patreon supporters uh can't thank them enough as always. Joe P wasn't able to make it tonight. Kate K, who was on, Lisa K, who was on right now, Adam S who was on, Chrissy D, and Lisa K. Thank you so and Megan. You skipped over Megan because she was on the city. Did I say Megan D? No.
SPEAKER_03No, I oh sorry because she wasn't on, you didn't. Yeah, Megan D, of course. Well, she's yeah, she gets connected with Irvines. She's good. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01She's gonna love to hear that. That you just said, you know, she's just connected with Irvines, and that's all.
SPEAKER_03She's not an individual person, so I didn't say that's all, but she got connected. That was you who connected her. And just a shout out to Joe P. He sent us a nice message.
SPEAKER_01He did. He did. He he always makes sure to be intentional. He saw the Patreon uh notification come out earlier today that we were gonna stream, and uh, he is doing some work. He's been doing a lot of night stuff. Yeah, I mean, he's so awesome that people want to talk have uh zooms with him at this time of time. I don't know if he's at home or if he's out of town or whatever, but sounds terrible, honestly.
SPEAKER_03But I mean, you know, I mean at least seven to eight and eight to nine. I was like, that sounds awful.
SPEAKER_01At least we're kind of having fun and recording. I mean, it's really not that the best part is is this part. The it's the end, the the the work at the end that's totally crazy and a lot of work and that we're trying to skip.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, and then I mean, we had Matt P reach out, he's a random listener. Matt P.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Phil Pot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's he's actually not random. I I know, but I'm saying he's not he hasn't been a Patreon here.
SPEAKER_01So he's just a never mind. You know, he actually said why he wouldn't. He wasn't because he got burned. He he he vowed after the Eric Zayn debacle that he wasn't going to get involved with another show ever again, as far as like financials. Like he drew he drew a line, and and I figured that was probably part of it, but yeah, every time there was an impactful episode, he would definitely reach out to me personally and be like, hey man, this is this, or for a while there he was like, Tell Mike this, tell Mike this. I'm like, what here's Mike's content Twitter or something, like go ahead and message him because I don't want to be the middleman.
SPEAKER_03Well, and Matt and I went to the same high school, and oh you did, yeah, the cornerstone together as well. But I think he was a grade or two younger, we figured out. Oh, okay. But he doesn't look as old as me at all.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, the beard does age you a little bit, even I did. I have all the gray hair. Yeah, you are starting to get the grays for sure.
SPEAKER_03Maybe because of, you know, some stress or things like that. Salt and pepper for sure. Little salt and pepper. I don't know. I should actually have a song. What? Salt and pepper song? Yeah. So, Jason, we're gonna transition to stories of the week one last time. Can you wrap us, talk us in?
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Stories of the Week. This is where we talk about our bullshit, our fun times, our low times, and when we were a dick to our wives. Welcome to Stories of the Week. Wait, we have to talk about when we're mean to our wives now. It's true. When our wives call us out, because we were dicks when they're trying to confirm or deny what happened. Man, I don't want to. That'd be too unfiltered. Adam says some sexy music there. I know. This is the this is what we've used for. It's called feeding the ducks. Unless feeding means this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, face Facebook will like cancel it right now. Yeah, right. They don't do video, they don't care about it. So, Jason, you made it back safely from Mexico. Mexico, you didn't get stopped as a drug mule. No. Or anything like that.
SPEAKER_01So down in Mexico, they have a to get across the border, they've kind of updated their tech, so you actually just scan your passport, look at a camera. Yep. Big Jason got got pulled to the side. Really? That beard. No, I had to do it manually. So because you think there's too much beard? I don't know. I don't think so because my my passport has the beard in it. True. Um, but no, they make you take your hat off and everything so they can see everything about you. And but uh no, there was no problem, just a little delay. Kind of looked me up and down a little bit.
SPEAKER_03They didn't check any cavities. No, they didn't they didn't check in cavities and make make you cough to make sure that you weren't nope, they were not checking for hernias.
SPEAKER_01Good. Yeah, so that was really good. Um, so yeah, in general, the trip was great. Uh TMI for anyone that cares. Uh, we had sex every day. Congratulations. It was pretty awesome. I'm not gonna lie. I don't know how to ask this.
SPEAKER_03Uh-oh. Uh-oh. I mean, that is a big difference from normal life for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you know, when you get rid of all the distractions, I didn't ask my question though. Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_03I'm trying to word this well. Is anything chafed? Does anything not feel as good? Is anything like, huh? I am not it's not used to that. I mean, it still was two minutes, so I mean so I mean that's like well, I guess you weren't there for a full week. So that's like eight, so that that's like uh eight minutes, ten minutes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, so no, I mean, in all jokes, it was an incredible vacation. Second day I was our I was restless. Of course. And then I kind of was like, okay, you know, you need to get your shit together, and I was able to relax, and we literally did nothing. Like, we didn't go on any excursions, we woke up in the morning, laid around and watched TikToks, we ate breakfast, went to the pool slash the beach, mostly the beach, and sat in shade the entire week. Because Megan is super sensitive. Her skin is just I don't know why she wants to move somewhere warm.
SPEAKER_03Probably just for the warmth.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, because she's sensitive to the sun, she's sensitive to chlorine. Oh, so she we stayed in the shade. And if you can see my face, it did definitely get a little sun, but not much on my my hands or my arms or my legs or anything, which I'm fine with. Weather was 83 to 85 every day, very breezy. It is the windy season right now, uh, but it didn't cool anything off. It was perfect. So a lot of drinking, never got drunk once. You just constantly drank all day, though, and never never never too much in a row.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. I tried.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you tried to get drunk? Yeah, so so as you know, have you ever been to a uh all-inclusive? No. Would you ever want to go? I think so. If you did go, would you go with us? I think I'd go with just Natalie. I mean, say you've been there a couple of times, would you go with us?
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Anyways, they make everything the drink super weak. Oh. And they have beer, but the problem is is they give you these, they're probably like four-inch, uh, four-ounce glasses. And what I really love, you know, me the hippie over here, they're they're plastic and they're they're like rubbery, so they recycle them, like they just wash them and stuff like that. And they make them small. So basically, you know, you know what it takes three or four of them to get like a 12-ounce can of beer. And and like, will um, they give you more than one at a time.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can walk with six of them if you want. And here's a tip if you've never gone to all inclusive, you can bring like your own giant Yeti or what's the what's the hip cut? Uh, Stanley. Stanley now. They'll fill that share right to the top. Really? Yeah. Didn't know that.
SPEAKER_03So is this one of those like a where the where the crews you have to ask for the top shelf alcohol when you want to mix?
SPEAKER_01So is it it's funny you bring that up. There is a different levels of oh. So we had the black bands, and then there was the white bands, the blue bands, and the privilege bands. And the privilege bands actually were like it said privilege, and it was tied on with ours was just like uh you know those bands they put. Oh gosh. Oh, do you? Oh, that doesn't bother me. But the privileged ones were actually like nice, like rope and it said privilege. You got your own beach and top shell licorice or licorice, licorice liquor.
SPEAKER_03Um, so I assume that's quite a bit more.
SPEAKER_01You know, it was I I was annoyed because we all had these different bands and we could not figure out what made them difference. And I don't know if the regular band color made any difference. I couldn't figure it out, but it was $350 a person if you wanted to upgrade to privilege. Oh, and it wasn't worth it. You got top shelf liquor in your own beach, and you could there was one restaurant that you could book online, but the rest of them you just walk in. So it was the same, yeah. Yeah, it was the same. So I definitely uh let me mute this because I know it's your annoy your most annoying thing when I look at my there you go. So it's muted, muted. Muted. So so yeah, I didn't get drunk, but dude, the the one night I did, I got buzzed the last night, of course, and then we have to get on a plane the next day. Um, we had gone to the lobby bar, and the guy was just I like, can I get two margaritas, please? Uh and he's just like glub, glub, glove, but I was like, that's interesting. So I drank mine, and Megan doesn't drink much, but she always got a drink. So she drank two sips of hers, and then I junk drank that other one. I was like, Okay. How were you feeling the next morning? I was fine. You're fine, and didn't get drunk or anything. So I was responsible.
SPEAKER_03But sometimes though, even if you True, it can just feel bad. Yeah. As long as you don't chug enough water.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so bring your Stanley and the food's mediocre. Yeah. I mean, I struggled to get Mexican food there. Oh, probably because they're not thinking people are coming there for Mexicans. That's the thing. They've they've modernized it and they've dumbed it down enough. Not a lot of stuff had flavor because I'm my guest, people go there and and Mexican people like spicy stuff, and people complained. And it's like, it was basically American food. Yep, that makes sense. Um but breaking news. I ate something I've never eaten before and liked. Sushi. 100%, Mike. Yes, under peer pressure. Under Megan pressure? No, peer pressure of people around you. Yeah, so we did the uh we did a hibachi thing, which I've never done, which was really fun. But one of the one of the plates was uh sushi, and I'm like, oh man, I gotta eat this. And so uh they did three different kinds or four different kinds, three out of the four I liked. Okay. So I was pretty it was good. I'm glad I didn't uh pass that up because I'll go eat it now. Was the rice on the outside or kelp on the outside? Rice on the outside. That's the way. That's the way?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I didn't know they made it with kelp. Well, I mean, well, there normally is a kelp or a green, but some there's sometimes rice with a little bit of kelp on the inside, but when it's kelp on the outside, it like uh messes with me more.
SPEAKER_01Just real quick, Chris D said he's got soccer but wanted to pop in to say hi and he loves us. What up, Chrissy D? So have fun with soccer, have fun with those brats. I think it's young age, maybe it's eight to fourteen he coaches. But he he gets to travel cool places with those guys. I don't understand this travel like sports thing. Like they're like that's how he makes his living.
SPEAKER_03That's because parents will spend money to have their kids be the next soccer stock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's and I don't think it's just exclusive to soccer, it's hockey, baseball.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um, not I don't see as much as in basketball.
SPEAKER_03There's some basketball, but there's enough local stuff. There's some travel teams, but yeah, you have hockey, soccer, and um baseball.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Crazy. Which I don't think baseball needs to because everyone plays baseball, but I can see soccer and hockey. A lot of people play hockey too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's just those are the sports that you play all year long. So you this was a makeup trip from you not having your passport. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Are you glad you went in this weather then in May? Yes, I did because one thing I did uh forget is they have a seaweed issue at times. It's not called seaweed, it's something else. But dudes, oh, that's another thing. So every day for eight to ten hours, they would be out there with a front end loader in a dump truck scooping up the seaweed. This is while you were there, yeah. So it was on the far side of it in front of the privileged beast because they have their own water that doesn't have like a big wall. Okay, and so all the seaweed would just run in there. So I I kind of chuckled at that, but all the men that watched that thing, they'd stand there in their speedos and just look at the thing and just I'm like, you guys are the biggest nerds. But anyways, May is a May or April through August is heavy seaweed months, and hotter, and hotter. So so did it work out in your good, do you think that's 100%? Yeah, it costed me a cost a lot more to add like two more days, and when we went in May, though, I would say about $1,300 more.
SPEAKER_03Because you added the two days, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we uh I think we only added a day and a half, maybe it was, I don't remember. But it was enough to jump it up, yeah. And the timing was different, of course. People want to go in February, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And you barely made your plane.
SPEAKER_01No, we made it.
SPEAKER_03I thought the storm, if you would have left it later.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if we would have a day later, we would not have made it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So so I mentioned this a little bit before, but that's the last episode. What are you gonna do? I'm gonna just turn your mic off. Stop being podcast partners with me. So you have wanted a sign from God for a while. Yes, we've talked about it. And randomly things will happen. I was like, hey, do you think that's a sign from God? And you're like, no, because blah blah blah. So here's here's my little meme for you. I'm gonna say it on the air. Man asks God for a sign. God gives sign. Man says, God, where in the world is the sign? Do you not feel like any of that could be a sign that God was looking out for you?
SPEAKER_01If you okay, I'm gonna I will answer that. If you remember when I asked for that, I needed something super impactful. Like but you also said it wasn't God, it didn't need to be God's voice. No, no, no, 100%. Okay. But I mean, I need something like big, like, you know, cancer is completely eradicated, something comes out, or something big. You know what I mean? Like for everybody or for you?
SPEAKER_03It can be both. Or or either or. So not so not missing a huge trip. I mean that's not big enough.
SPEAKER_01That's just all how it is. Because what about the people that flew out on Wednesday?
SPEAKER_03What if they didn't need a sign from God? Well, what if what if what if they didn't need it? What if God's like, well, Jason needs it, so you know, for this storm, I'm gonna I'm gonna delay it a day for him. So he singles it out just for me. Maybe. What if it was I mean, because cause a sign would have to be something altered to benefit you that wouldn't benefit others?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Most likely.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I mean, I can see that.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know. I don't completely disregard what you say, but I also look at it as just coincidence. I know. I mean, I I was pretty excited that it didn't get delayed, and I had my bus test that day. So, like, if everything would have been a day later, I would have missed my bus test. I would have, I mean, at that point, if what if it took a day and a half, two days for us to get out? I probably would have canceled the trip. Yeah. And just rescheduled because I bought the insurance again, of course. Good. Because what happens if we got COVID or whatever? Like, so I was like, I'm I'm rebuying the insurance.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But um, I mean, I I I can see where you're coming from a little bit, but so I'm throwing it out there.
SPEAKER_03Maybe it's not, but it could be. It's just a couple other things. And then you mentioned your bus test. Yeah. How did that go?
SPEAKER_01You know, I was so nervous. Were you? But I was like, I know this shit, I know it. And I don't know if I missed anything. It's past fail. Oh, they don't even tell you your grade after pass fail. Really? Yeah. I'm pretty sure I know I nailed the skills like uh the parking lot and the cones and backing up and blah blah blah. I know I nailed that. I did miss something on the draft. They they surprise you and try to say what was that sign, just so that they know that you're scanning the signs, and I missed it the first time, and I think that dinged me a point. And I can't think I missed anything on the inspection either. I felt I just rolled through that thing. You were like, do not stop me. I'm just gone. I did it in 22 minutes. Angie time me, my trainer. She's like, that's really good. Usually it should take you about 30 minutes, and I rolled through it in 22. Nice. You're like, I'm super fast. Well, he did skip stuff like when I was doing it correctly. Like we literally have to check every seat back in the bus. And he's like, okay, you're good. And then the bottoms to make sure they're latched so they don't go flying off. You know what I mean? That's part of the pre-check. Yeah, wow. Yeah. So he did skip me along a couple of things. So obviously he's like, okay, this guy got it. He's got it.
SPEAKER_03He doesn't like I don't need to check that because but if maybe you weren't doing well, he might have gone through all that.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, because yeah, because yeah, he probably would have. But yeah, anyways, it went well. I was so nervous. I think I missed when he was talking about what sign that was that I was looking for railroad tracks because I was paranoid about that. Of course, it was totally fine. Was there any moment you thought this might not go well?
SPEAKER_03Nope. Okay. Nope. So you're nervous before, but then you're on it and you're just hitting it.
SPEAKER_01Nope. And I found uh out that the guy that was giving me the test, it wasn't Holland. So I was driving on Holland Street. Oh. You didn't know that? No. Yeah, I was on 8th Street, some old strip mall.
unknownEighth Street, an old strip mall.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I know where you are. It has a century driving school in it now, but that's where I tested.
SPEAKER_03Really? Yeah. Should have told me, could have come down and cheered you on.
SPEAKER_01Because you would have seen all the codes in the bus. You'd be like, go, Jason, go. That tester was so nice. He would have probably been like, oh my gosh, you literally have a cheer. Somebody out here cheering for you. I think it was last Tuesday, though, wasn't it? Uh yeah. I was doing tags. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But other than that, I could have cheered you on.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_03Foghorn.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So the guy says my trainer said, this guy bleeds yellow and not from maize and blue. Oh, for bus drivers. So he wants people people to drive. He was a bus supervisor for Zealand for 34 years. David Newson.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01I actually went to church with him back as a kid. Yep. That's who it was. Great guy. Great guy. So kind. Yeah. So kind, and just like I would do something. He's like, perfect. Good job. Oh, good job. Which kind of threw me off a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Look at that, Dave Muson.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for being awesome. I was like, please don't talk to me. Just please don't say good because I don't know if you're saying good because I fucked up or if I actually did it right. Please don't talk to me.
SPEAKER_03I I would only assume that he was saying good because you did it right.
SPEAKER_01Lisa says, I live not far away from there. We could have been your cheering squad. That would have been epic. We probably could have made the news with that. Yeah if there was like four people out there. And in knowing Dave, he would find that hysterical. Oh yeah. He was he was very nice.
SPEAKER_03Especially once he knew it was me. He'd be like, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. So he's actually gonna be my I think my instructor. I have to, of course, more training. I have to take a one-week class. It's like three hours a night for five days. So I'm taking it in June. Is this before you can drive or once you once you pass, then there's an additional class about driving kids around. Again, the amount of I get paid for hour for the amount of training. No, I get paid for that training. Yeah. But still, it's like I'm spraying Roundup all over God's green earth. And it was just, I just had to take a 20 question test.
SPEAKER_03But isn't it better that we worry about the safety of our children more than breathing in chemicals?
SPEAKER_01That, yes. I am fine with the training. I'm just saying the payout at the end for the hourly rate is way too low. And I plan on joining the union this week, and I my goal is to get someday move up the chain and become a union rep and try to get this pay jacked up. You see me at the bargaining team.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was like, give us more damn money now.
SPEAKER_01Listen, listen here. We need more cash.
SPEAKER_03So give us cash. Well, that's awesome. And then when is your first day? I worked this afternoon.
SPEAKER_01No, I did drive by myself. Okay. I think literally, I think this week I'm doing ride-alongs, and my guess is next week, they're already gonna get me in a in a bus. Does that make you nervous all by yourself? It does with the see, there's no GPS. It's all paper maps. Now it's turn by turn. They don't use GPSs. Which is so dumb. There's gotta be a way to route, like to route those stops in and then send it out. Dozen percent. I mean, we do for weed and feed. We get a route and it's software, and then I just load my route and I hit go, and then it just turn by turn just Do you know if that's every bus or if that is that just uh that's probably just Granville? I mean, again, I fill out my payroll paper with a pencil. Union rep Jason will make sure there is turn by turn GPS. Yeah, just for safety right reasons, because once you know your route, like the lady I wrote it with today was actually Sully's route. Oh so he saw I was sitting in the like the one seat behind, and he's like, What are you doing on here? I'm like, just training today. He's like, Okay, went goes right to the back of the bus. Did not want to sit by his dad. I was just gonna ask. I didn't ask, but yeah, the lady today, she didn't need paper masks because it's her route. And they're really short, honestly. Okay, so it's it'll be easy to learn, but you know, you get a call at 5 30 in the morning. Hey, bro, we need you today, and you're like, never done the route. And then at 5 30, well, not 5 30 in the morning.
SPEAKER_03It would be like 6 15. 6 15.
SPEAKER_01You're trying to figure out a route, especially when time jumps forward and it's darker. Yeah. I mean, obviously when it gets nicer out, it'll be easier and in the fall, but mornings, I mean, it's it's dark, and uh, yeah. So I'm a little nerve. That's what I'm nervous about. Not driving kids. I know how to drive that bus.
SPEAKER_03And the worst part is if you make a wrong turn, that's when you're more likely to drop to drop a swear word. Yes. You're way more likely to do it.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. So, anyways, I heard some stories today as I was actually in the break room before route, so that all the drivers were in there. There's some people that have definitely dropped some words. Okay. Yeah, there's a British guy there that literally has the British accent, and I'm like, has he used the C word? Because over there that's common. You C word, you know what I mean? Like, that's like us saying you a hole or something like that, or stop being a C word. They said he they don't think he said that, but he'll be like, you assholes.
SPEAKER_03But now if you were in in um England and would say fanny, that is the equivalent of that swear word. Is it? Yeah, I think it's there in Australia, but I think it's I think it's in England. People like there was a pastor talking about Fanny Pack. He's talking about like an actual Fanny pack. Yeah. And he sees the local pastors like, stop, no. And he's wait, what, Fanny or Pack? And they're like, no. So Fanny. What does it mean though? The same, the same general air. No. Oh, or the C word? Yeah. So it's the same, but again, for there, Fanny is then the bad word. Right, we're in America. But isn't that funny how we just make that up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. You know, Megan, uh, there's a show on Netflix. Uh it is hosted by Nicolas Cage, and it's the history of swear words. Oh, that'd be fun. She said it was really funny. It'd be interesting to know like where everything came from. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like, why is shit bad, but crap is good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like, who decided that that was like a kid says crap in school, no problem. He says shit, he's going to the principal's.
SPEAKER_03He's in trouble. You gotta talk with the parents, literally means the same. No, I understand some swear words. Yeah. Maybe shouldn't say.
SPEAKER_01You know, Michael, you have just one line item on there for your story of the week. I think this is all that really happened with my week.
SPEAKER_03I was I even got back tonight and was like, did I really do much else of significance?
SPEAKER_01And it was I mean, we've been gone for two weeks. Yeah, I forget a lot.
SPEAKER_03I know me too. I'm I'm I'm pulling a Jason. I'm becoming more like you with that. I'm like, wait a second. Like, what in the world did I do? So this weekend on Sunday starting at about 2 30, I went up with a few other pastors uh from the local area up to a cabin cottage in just north of Traverse City. So we headed on up and we ate at Shorts Brewery. Have you ever eaten there? No, but it's a very popular brewery. Now, I of course can't drink any of the beer because of hives. I can only drink Tito's Tito's. Not a sponsor. Tito's. If you'd love to be a sponsor, reach out to 1-800. We're we're no longer a podcast. But we have other shows if you're interested. I don't. I mean, you can you can reach out to Hey Guys Media. Yeah, there you go. See if they'll they'll do more Tito's. Jason will drink straight Tito's every show. If if you sponsor him $100 per episode, he'll drink a whole glass with only five ice cubes. You're gonna need to be it's gonna be need to be a hundred bucks a minute for me to do all that. You would do it for a hundred bucks an episode. You would too, as you're sitting there with Jesper just drinking the way. So we went up there, that was really good. We had two guys who came up separate in a separate vehicle. Um, they had to go back to Saga Tuck to go get some but guys, he didn't bring his luggage right away. Long story. So we're up there and we got some some uh pretzels with some some good dipping stuff. There's peanut butter and jelly, there's cheese sauce, all that maize in the nachos. Oh, all that sounds amazing. And then finally the other guys come and then we have pizza, great pizza. Oh, so it's a cheese. I don't hear a vegetable in there. Olives and onions on my pizza and jalapenos on the healthy vegetables. And it was one of those things where um we went as pastors, uh, we we kind of knew each other, um, but we didn't really know each other. You know, like it's one where you know them. Um we've had some prayer times together, but it wasn't knowing. And so we just started sharing our stories, like our life history, where we've been. Um, and so we did that throughout the weekend. We asked really deep theological questions or really stuff that maybe we wouldn't ask around other people. We had some really good discussions. Yeah, you can feel comfortable not being like it was kind of like Thread's podcast, but no mics. But it was one of those where you just ask and you wrestle with questions, and most people would find it dorky. Like if we if you were there, you would have been like, This is the most stupid thing, guys.
SPEAKER_01Right. Did you talk about my sign from God? Did you have did you get some expert opinion about that?
SPEAKER_03It should have.
SPEAKER_01Should have been like, is that a sign from God? And you'd still be like, I don't believe them. They all voted yes, it is.
SPEAKER_03So if you still say you're a dumbass, you're a dumbass, and Jesus is sad at you. He's always sad at me. Okay, where was that? Okay, so so we're up there, and then we also spent time in worship, and then of course, we're mermen and we ate really good food together. That sounds like a good time. Was it last night? Yeah, last night. Um, I had a big old steak, he skillet, um, cooked it, nice crust on it. He could perfectly medium rare. That's the way okay, rare to medium rare is the only way you should have a steak. I'm a medium guy.
SPEAKER_01I like it. I like it pink and is that pink in the middle? Yeah, that's a medium. Yeah, I don't like it. And I don't yeah, I have trouble with raw meat at times. It's not raw meat. Did you ever hear my meatloaf story?
unknownOh yeah, if I forget what it was.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Basically, long story short, Megan one day undercooked meatloaf and I ate it. Nope. And I almost threw up at the table. And like I have been a little triggered from that since that. And the joke is we have a board where Megan writes all the meals, and then we have to take a magnet and choose what we want for the week, so it makes it easier to decide, you know, because we're always she's always like struggling on shit. Because each of them, it's like our favorites are up there, so you get to pick what you want that week. And the it says meatloaf fully cooked in parentheses underneath it.
SPEAKER_03So now is that you but fully cooked or her?
SPEAKER_01No, Megan, it's like it's a family joke now. Like anyone, anytime anyone says a meatloaf, like, oh, let me tell you this story, it was seconds away from barfing at the table.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because something about ground no ground meat with a burger, I could do like medium well, maybe medium with a burger, yeah, if in a really nice place. But yeah, definitely not in a meatloaf. Yeah, because it's uh we don't we we we don't we don't do meatloaf at our house anymore. I think why Natalie doesn't like it to begin with, and then one time because it called for onions, a quarter cup of onions um chopped, coarsely chopped. Yeah, she's like, Well, I don't want them in there, so she parade them and did a quarter cup parade. Well, when they're chopped, there's air and space. Oh no. When you parade them, it's just it shrinks it down. The whole meatloaf? No, it shrinks down the amount of onion in it. So a quarter cup is like double when it's parade, it's double the onion of normal. Oh, yeah. It's the most onion-y thing ever.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I never thought about that.
SPEAKER_03So that was her last straw with it. She's she's like casseroles or things like that.
SPEAKER_01Isn't physics a a weird thing? Yeah, wouldn't that be physics like when you take like something and and change its surrounding and it and it makes it different?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's so again when you chop, right? There's all the space that it what's coarsely chopped. But yeah, she paraded and then did a quarter cup, and there's like she should have done the quarter cup and then blended it down if she didn't want chunks of onion in there. Oh god But yeah, that that one kind of made that. But I really like Megan's idea though, because I know Natalie too. What do you guys want for suppers? She always asks once I'm full from one. Of course. I'm like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Or Megan will ask me like at two o'clock on a Monday when she's scheduling groceries to be picked up. I'm like, I'm not fucking thinking about this now. But yeah, she saw it on TikTok, of course. Of course, and we implemented it and it's worked. Nice because it because it cut down on the stress and you know what else I implemented? When it's time to eat out, I say, What do y'all want? I put it in a randomizer, I say, Okay, Sully, it's your turn to hit the button. Whatever it lands on, we get it. If you don't like anything from there, tough shit. Nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because otherwise, especially with the variation of what your kids like, yeah, and then it and then it's totally like it's random.
SPEAKER_01I let them see it. Like, I don't pick it. I'm like, and Avery tapped it last time, so the next time it'll be Sully, tap that button. I'm like, this is your opportunity, put whatever you want in there. I mean, obviously within Reason, you're not gonna put Ruth Chris in there or Texas Roadhouse. I mean, that's not fast food. Correct, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So one last thing about the weekend. Um, we're up there, and the first night, it's a it's a nice cabin, cottage cabin. It's it's on a lake, but it and the outside looks like a cottage, and the inside has has wood paneling. Question. Not yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, nope. I should let you finish. No, go. Are you sure? Yeah. What what is the difference between a cot a cottage and a cabin? We're trying to discuss that in the way up. That was our first deep question. That is actually, I've always wondered that because when I tell people we have a cabin, to me, it sounds rustic. Yeah. But our is not, but they've always called it the cabin, but it's not rustic. It has satellite TV, it has air conditioning, it's like it's a it's a home. Does it look more like a house? No, it looks like a cabin. It's wood, wood throughout. Inside and out.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01It has the the actual log cabin woods on the city. Oh, you totally a cabin then.
SPEAKER_03Really? Because it has a log cabin. A cottage would either be, in my opinion, it would be like a house that looked like a house in in your neighborhood or whatever. But on a lake. But on a lake, or or if it had a certain type of wood siding that wasn't like the log cabin style, but it was just like more of just a like a light yellow painted wood. Yeah. I'd call that a cottage.
SPEAKER_01I mean, maybe it's just we're trying to be braggy, and when we say we're going up to the cabin, we don't want to say it's like a shack. We just say we're going to the cottage.
SPEAKER_03Like, so what is it in relation to like Traverse City? Is it still south? It's south and quite a bit east.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah. You're your way east. I just didn't know the height. It's 90 minutes. Because I looked at the Bay Shore Marathon and it would be 90 minutes for me to drive.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so you're you're pretty far up there.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, it's three hours and 15 minutes from our house straight.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01So you're probably a little south of Travis City, but not much.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Nice. I think we kind of little go a little bit up when we if we were to drive there. Okay. Yeah. Nice. I love Travis City. Yeah, we didn't we didn't really get into the city, but yeah, and it's it's kind of closed down anyways.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, and like even the lake, we it talked about going out in the ice, but the big snowstorm yesterday. Oh, oh, up there, yeah. They got pounded, didn't they? What did they end up getting? Do you know? I don't know. Did you have to drive through some of it? Um, no, because by by today, we left today and the roads were clear. It just looked beautiful, and then we get back to West Michigan and it's like muddy and gross. And puddles and fields, like fields were just huge puddles, and it's like, oh, this place is horrible.
SPEAKER_01How nice was it today, though? The sun. It was like literally like Mexico, except 40 degrees colder.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No, up north it was nice because we were there was snow in the sun. That's even prettier. Because if it's a little cool and you have the snow and the sun, it's really nice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if we're gonna have if we're gonna have winter, can I have regular snow on the ground? This melt like dirty winter. Yeah, this melting and snowing, and we're supposed to get like five inches on Friday now. What? It's like, geez Louise. Come on, weather. I know I'm so sad.
SPEAKER_03Okay, it'd be a sign, okay. I'm gonna say it right here. If that storm doesn't hit, is that a sign from God?
SPEAKER_01No, because I have nothing going on. I mean, I I'm gonna be in the bus two routes, which sucks. It starts at 7 a.m. the snow. So you're gonna get the first, and then they're gonna be like, I'm hoping they call it the night before and be like, well, we're gonna get caught in this shit show, or they dismiss early or something.
SPEAKER_03But that's so rare now because it's not always parents home. It is tough. It's so different than when we were kids. Yeah, it is tough. A lot of parents work, so so one final thing. I don't want to go too rabbit trail off before the end. Why not? Actually, let's go as rabbit trail as we want. What are you guys gonna do? You guys gonna stop listening? Um what a dick. It's it is our fault it's ending. It's our fault. Yeah, or ending. Um, so the one bad thing is so again, cabin, and I kind of get in the room, I'm my own room with a double-sized bat. I was like, sweet. And I see something that could be mouse droppings, and but there's a sticky mouse trap and nothing in there. I was like, okay, maybe I'm making this up. But I hate mice. Do you? I will freak out and dry heave if I see a mouse. If their mouse were in there, I would dry heave. Wow. No freaking clue. It is a weird, weird whatever that's called. Neurosis. It's a weird neurosis. I never even heard of that. Neurosis is like a weird thing.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I thought it was like an irritation of the skin.
SPEAKER_03No, but this is this weird neurosis about mice. And so why am I finding this out now? I know exactly. There's a reason why I'm telling you now. So I'm I'm there, and then because you're in this new place, everything that makes a noise, like crap, maybe that's a mouse.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, so you're getting in your own head.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, maybe that's a mouse. And then it's getting hot in the room. Oh no. So I'm like, crap, it's hot. And I I like to sleep cold. And then the furnace kicks on, it's all like a water boiler, and at first it goes like when it lets the water in. And then something makes this like sound, which sounds like a door is slowly opening. But kind of like and so then I'm like, you know, I take my flesh, I look over, nothing. I'm like, what the crap? Crap freaking out. But then I was like, hey, I can turn my sound machine on my phone, but then I can't find a plug to charge my phone when I'm doing it. So finally I find one. It's 4 a.m. the first night when I finally like get to sleep sleep. Like I doze a little bit. And then, of course, for some reason I woke up at seven, three hours of sleep the first night. And I am an eight to nine hours a night guy. Yeah, you are. Like, I need a solid eight. If I have nine, I'm even better. So, like by the end of last night, I had a drink late at night, and I made it a little strong, and then I'm sitting there so tired, and we're up till midnight that night, and I'm just going. Wait, wait, the night that you only had three and a half, you're the following night, you're up till midnight. We were up till oh 12 30 because people were just talking, people sharing their story. Didn't you take a nap during the day? Wasn't it downtime? Well, but we were just hanging out, and uh, you know, like I didn't get tired then. It wasn't till night, and then all of a sudden I'm like, I can't focus on the person. Yeah, yeah. I'm like, I'm I only had one drink. I'm like, that's not that. It must be the it's the drink, yeah, and the lack of sleep. Yeah, and so once we were done, I just went right to bed, took the shortest poop I've ever had at night, and went to bed. I mean it was thanks for the poop talk. I really appreciate it. I mean it was still 10 minutes, which is quick for me. That's very quick. It's very quick for me. So that was my adventure in the woods with some dudes, as I labeled it. Well, thank you for sharing, yeah, especially about your poops. Do I know more about them?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_03I will gladly tell anybody.
SPEAKER_01No, I I'm totally just okay. Just make sure you put a note, now that we're not gonna see each other every week, that you tell me about your poops periodically. I should. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I should tell you everyone. You can send me pictures. Uh too far. Too far? Yeah. I mean, Jason, uh, like uh not verbally.
SPEAKER_01Um Jason recorded me taking a P. You do that all the time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like that's sort of your thing. That's yeah. My Yas is starting to do that too, and he'll randomly do it. I'm like. See? At least start the whole thing, though.
SPEAKER_03So, Jason, there's been 209 other episodes of this freaking show. Yeah. That's a lot of episodes. It is a lot. Some of them real episodes, some of them fake episodes. A lot of fake. The first fifty.
SPEAKER_01Well, sorry. I wrote a note the first fifty, we did the alternating weeks where our wives were recapped.
SPEAKER_03So And that was the first. Well, at first you just didn't you do every other week? Didn't you and Ben do every other week and then added in the wife's recap?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think it was um I had Buzz sprout up real quick. I think it was the first ten we did like normal, and then we started doing the every other week just because it was just it was kind of too much at the time. Because already first ten episodes in were like it's too much.
SPEAKER_03Well, because I think originally you guys did every other week. And then oh, you mean in general Ben and I did every other week?
SPEAKER_01And then I think you guys needed you wanted more content, so you ended up in the so we did like June 29th, July 13th, July 27th, August 12th. Yeah, that is every other week. You're right. Okay. Yeah, maybe a good thready. Yeah, so it was a good job. Yeah, I think it was the first looks like March we started going every or yeah, we started going every week. But then it still wasn't with our wives. Oh yeah, I guess May 3. But anyway, it's getting in the week.
SPEAKER_03It was one of the but it was one of those. Now, as a listener, I thought that was stupid. What? The the the the the every but adding the wife's one because you wanted to add more episodes. You thought that was a dumb move?
SPEAKER_01No, I I just didn't like it. It's fair. I mean, you it was one of those where this is your time to to tell us we suck. No, but it was one of those where where I would rather have nothing than what I had. Interesting. You didn't find it you didn't find that like Megan and I were great content.
SPEAKER_03Every once in a while there was good content, but it didn't pay off for them out of not so good. Hey, so uh what did you feel about that episode? Well, I thought yeah sometimes it was like it wasn't always the best normal content. Totally fair. It was not Ben and Jason. Yeah, yeah. And that's why I listened was for Ben and Jason. Right, for sure. That's fair. So so highlight.
SPEAKER_01So what were some of the your favorite moments of this show? Well, one of the episodes, I I made a list of a couple of things. Um, my fate one of my favorite episodes to record was the Labor Day episode. Episode 43. I remember that. It was long, but it was it was it was exhilarating to set up a like a remote thing and it was raining. I don't know if that was the raining, because I think we did two of them out there. I think you did. One of them was it was raining. We had all that equipment out there in the rain. I mean, we had something over it, but yeah. No, I really enjoyed uh all four of us being in an outside perspective out of the studio, getting out of our our element, and that was fun.
SPEAKER_03Was it thrilling to be there or nerve-wracking? Because I remember you and technology, there were sometimes some frustrations with it.
SPEAKER_01So did did did I ever tell you about the I think it was the hundredth episode. Did you ever hear about that?
SPEAKER_03Like they were in here and you kind of lost your cool. I I've I've heard bits and pieces of it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I did I I don't think I've ever talked about it on the show. You I think you did a little bit. Did I? I'm pretty I I've pretty much said everything on the show. But yeah, so I was early on with threads, I was very hundreds not early on. True.
SPEAKER_03Okay, sorry. Fucking asshole. Sorry, continue your story.
SPEAKER_01What what let's see? You're right, 100 isn't early. What happened? What year? What was that? That was in 2020. No, there's that was just before I was on the first October 16th. But anyways, so for a long time, I was a dick. Uh, not a dick. I was just I had a lot of uh anxiety? Anxiety, I had a lot of like um I just wanted things perfect.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, so it was a big it was a big thing for me to do that up there because it's like all these chords and I mean this we didn't have this board, we had a different board, and it was just like and if things didn't work, now you're trying to now we don't have yeah that for if I ever start another show, it's gotta be one that could be evergreen. It just not having content to just be like, uh fuck it. Well, it's been a rough week. Let's just pull some shit that we recorded, you know, a while back.
SPEAKER_03I mean, so like our our friend Joe, yeah, he records multiple in a week. Yeah. I know I was thinking that exact same thing. I'm like, if I ever did a podcast, I would do it one where I could write out 20. Like this is what 20 of them will be, and I on this date will record three of them. Yeah, unfortunately, well, you have to have you almost exclusively have to have interviews. Interviews, or again, like when Ben was gonna or when Ben did or when I did like the single head. Yes, you could do that kind of like with uh your your your hay guys two years. Which I don't, but you could.
SPEAKER_01You're right. And gay guy can't either, it's news based. Yeah. So it's just like we're already we only do it every two weeks. I mean, we're podcasting every week now, but I mean the other weeks aren't news related, so it's we're already behind in the news.
SPEAKER_03Oh, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Uh, but it's fine. We I don't care about that. But um, anyways, get back on track. Um, so that was a favorite one. Uh, what about you? Did you have a favorite one at all? I know I kind of sprung this on you a little bit as far as like favorites and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_03Um I'm trying to think here. All the episodes you were on. I know. No, I think my most favorite and you haven't mentioned is episode 114. Okay. The fight that almost killed Thread. That's on my list. It was just one of those where you guys were kind of able to to um bear a little bit more, but also I liked it because we had all started to message and you went radio silent. Uh in the group? Yeah. And then Ben reached out on the side and was like, hey, just so you know, like, we had this big fight, we're not sure if we're gonna continue. Like, this is why, it's nothing to do with you, like just this. And then he told you that on the episode, and I even remember you're like, What? So, anyways, it just stuck out to me as one of the Did I feel betrayed? Not betrayed, but you were just a little bit like, oh, like you also because the fight was wasn't the fight. I don't even remember. I think I know the fight. Okay. You ready for this? Spin it. If I'm wrong, uh Ben Ben can correct us. Go listen to episode 114. I think it was because you had sent out a message to Jesper and to Ben. Probably was because you were on Gig Economy, or not Gig Economy, but you were on gig work, so you probably got a little more like, hey, let's grow these shows, my guess, based off that. But then you sent out a message, you deleted it, but Ben had listened to it and then told Jesper about it. I think that was it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he went behind my back because I didn't want Jesper to hear it, so I quickly deleted it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if behind your back, but he I mean, Jesper probably want to know what the message was about.
SPEAKER_01So you're taking Ben's side, is that I'm saying I see both sides here. You motherfucker.
SPEAKER_03But I just remember that all over again. It was one of those where I was just like, holy crap. I I just remember like the the tenseness, and for some reason, I normally don't like tense shows, but that one I was like, that's that's good.
SPEAKER_01I did have it listed, even though I didn't know what it was about, because I do remember how impactful that show was. Now, probably my favorite I was on is when we had Terry. Okay. Doors of Hope. Chris Burnsman said he loved the interview with the mom that lost her son, which is um uh Marcy Larson. Yeah, you guys know. Uh Andy's mom, which honestly, her episode her podcast is fucking blown up. Oh, nice. She's still going. I'm like, God, what was it like? We had her on episode 50. Okay. And like 50 episodes later, which was probably a year later, she was like, I hit 100,000 downloads. It's like she had barely launched at that point, so she probably at our hundred, she probably only had 50 episodes in.
SPEAKER_03And she had more episode than you guys did.
SPEAKER_01Or we had we had double the amount of episodes, and she had way more downloads. That's what I was gonna say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she had more downloads with half the episodes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she does she does a great job. I it was really cool. She actually came in the studio, so that was cool. Were most of your interviews in studio or not? I would say not because we went on an interview spree for a while where we like used it, it's like podcastguest.com. Oh, okay, and we lined up a bunch for a couple weekends in a row. And God, that was the worst bet or Mike.
SPEAKER_03I I I didn't like them as a listener. Often I would turn them off. Unless there was certainly fair. There were certain ones, again, I always try to give them a chance, but after I was like, nope, I'm done.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So on my list, as you talk about that, the worst fucking interview, the worst episode was The Wealthy Gardener.
SPEAKER_03Oh, tell me about I don't know if I even remembered that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is episode 70. It is, uh, let me scan down here just to read if we actually wrote any notes. On this episode, Penguin Books author John Sofaric joins us to discuss his new book entitled The Wealthy Gardener. His book is a collection of wisdom shared between John and his son. Fan of Napoleon Hills, I think Think and Grow Rich will love The Wealthy Gardener, as will anyone else who is passionate about earning an honest income and a part.
SPEAKER_02Fuck off, Ziggy.
SPEAKER_01How did you even get that? And an honest income and imparting Shut up! Thank you. But anyways, it was just like a book about you know earning money with his son and like teaching him these values. It was the most boring fucking interview I had ever done. I wanted to put no, I mean, hey, we're about mental health. So don't take this personally. I wanted to put a gun in my mouth and blow my head off because it was so bad.
SPEAKER_03It I don't remember.
SPEAKER_01I must have skipped it or like barely turned it on and was like, I'm done. It's it was terrible. I mean, he he had a good mic, he had a good setup and everything. Like, that wasn't the problem. Just I looked at Ben and I'm and I'm just like, in my eye said, What are we doing? What is his show become?
SPEAKER_03Well, because you as episode 70 probably had an identity crisis. Yeah. Was that pre-buckets? At some point you pre-buckets. See, and then and then you guys probably weren't like, okay, we need to figure out what we're about. Yeah, it was definitely pre-buckets. Um, yeah, the buckets. Does anyone remember the buckets?
SPEAKER_01I mean, we kind of we the buckets are good. I know, but we don't use the term buckets anymore. No, I mean, you changed the whole entire fucking show. That's why we're ending. That's exactly why. I mean, we don't even talk about mental health anymore. I quit therapy. Well, we don't talk about mental health. So it's like you you ruined the fucking show. I ruined it. It's my fault. No, I don't know. I actually don't know if there was a like I looked at all the titles today. I was doing some I don't see anything that says our three buckets. But but I remember it was it was close to episode 100 that you guys started using the term buckets, and then yeah, you guys we had that TikToker Jeremy that freaking we were so excited because he wanted to work with us and he had just caught viral and he just fucking ghosted us a couple of times. Ben even reached out to him, he's like, Oh yeah, I'm still gonna connect, and just ghosted us. So but he was on though, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was on. But it wasn't great. So I I remember the episode. So what so 103 when I was on, you did not want me on. Oh yeah? Yeah, I I came here down here, I came down, and you just sat there. You sat in that freaking chair, you didn't even get up when I came. Really? I always usually get up. Oh, yeah, you were you were not about it, and then you're like, Oh yeah, I said you something about the trip from Holland. You're like, you ask, so is that where you live? Like, not like inquisitive, but just kind of like Really? I God, I want to listen to that. And I was like, Well, what a freaking asshole. But then by the and you, I think you even mentioned the beginning, yeah. Yeah, when Ben talked about it, I wasn't excited, but then when you're on here, like a filling was getting. I think at the end I was having fun. I know, but at the beginning, but like when I first came here, you were just like a complete ass. It's like this guy. I feel so bad. Don't, don't. You're just just who you were at the moment.
SPEAKER_01My my favorite guest was Chris Gadzik. He's a therapist. We've had him on twice. Such a nice guy, very thoughtful. He's still doing his show. Check out his show. Um, oh fuck me. I should have written that down. What episode was that? Did I did I write it? No, no, I didn't. He uh I'll I'll post it. I won't, I'll forget. Such a great guy. He has his own show and it's really good. We can really Google it real quick. Yeah, Google it. Uh I couldn't uh what episode? I didn't write it down, damn it. Gadzik. I don't know how to spell that. He's such such a good guy in a good show. We've had him on twice. And I hate that Buzz Sprout doesn't let me. We had a coder on there, a website guy. That was a shit show, too. Gonna find it. You ain't gonna find it. It doesn't let you search for stuff. Well, you could probably Google it. Got it. Through a therapist's eyes. Got it.
SPEAKER_03Boom. Did you just Google it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I love see this is why SEO is so important.
SPEAKER_03But the first one was Christopher Godsick. Did I spell it wrong? No, because it didn't like his actual name. So, and then that one's chasing evil. I'm like, well, that can't be right. And then second one through listen notes is what comes up second. Listen notes is huge.
SPEAKER_01Through a therapist's eyes podcast.
SPEAKER_03Chris gets it.
SPEAKER_01For God's sakes, if you're on a podcast right now and your host doesn't have listen notes, you're you're cracked. Yeah, not even do it.
SPEAKER_03You might as well not even do it. This is turning into hey guys media podcast or whatever. Um and then weird twist. Talk about the weird twist.
SPEAKER_01All right, hold on. Adam says this most impactful episode for him was Erica Hamill from Wy from uh Wyatt's Laws was on. That was really good too. Her son had been abused by the her ex's uh uh mother or the ex's uh girlfriend. Okay, and he became he's has so many issues, but she had been pushing for a law and since then has passed a law. It's called Wyatt's Law. Now it's a basically, I think it's um it's extra ex I don't know if it's like oh it's like a notifications like a sex offender list. Yeah, that's what it is. So if you get caught for abusing kids, you get put on a list now. Nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So so here's what's interesting. I'm I'm just noticing things. The two favorites of the people I've mentioned have have have been an interview. Yeah. But listen numbers were always down with interviews, they were.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, we're kind of talking about specific people. We haven't really talked about episodes. I guess we kind of have. I mean, they're saying that's a good point. Isn't that interesting? That is interesting. So less people listen, but it impacted the people that listen. So the super fans like Adam and Kate and you know, they they probably listened to him. So again, some of those interviews were dog shit, but if you just skipped them every time, you missed that opportunity to get the ones that were impactful.
SPEAKER_03I mean, even our wife skipped it. Even after we switched it and we only did their their interview as part of it, they're like, Yeah, I skipped it because it was an interview.
SPEAKER_01I know. I'm like, what the fuck? Okay, weird twist. Do you remember Mike Camp?
SPEAKER_03Talk more about him, I'm sure I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_01So he was the guy that walked from Alleghen to I can't remember if he walked all the way north or anyways. That guy, it turned out to be a right-wing nut job. Oh, really? Yeah, when the pandemic hit. So typically when you're and this is I'm stereotyping, I'm putting people in a box, but typically if you're working on mental health and it's important to you, blah, blah, blah, typically you're left or moderate. Yeah. I would say. And and and don't be offended if you're right wing Chris Bruinsma and you you work on your Brian's ma.
SPEAKER_03I just had a voice correct. Brian's ma. It's Bruinsma. I know, but his rest of his family says Brian's.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really? Or at least his extended.
SPEAKER_03Do I say it wrong? No, but you say it the way he says it. Oh, why? That's all I know. There's a family debate. Oh, interesting.
SPEAKER_01Um, and not that you're if you're right wing, you don't get mental health, but in theory, if you look at a the grand picture of it, it seems like people on the left typically try to take care of their mental health. Okay, I'm I'm getting myself.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're a rabbit hole. Well, but I'd say though, maybe not just right wingers, but like hardcore Trumpers and therapy doesn't seem to mix.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like hardcore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, hardcore. And and I wouldn't ever say that I thought he was. But anyways, during COVID, he was like anti-mass, anti-vaxx, which I'm I'm okay with that. Like, if you don't want to get it, I I I the mask thing pissed me off because like it's for your feather feather feather um fellow? The w whiskey is gone. For your fellow man, I think the mask should be worn. But the the the the the vaccine, I don't give a shit. Yeah, I don't really give a shit. But um K said that, oh, that was mean. What did I say? What did I say that was mean?
SPEAKER_03Maybe about like the right wingers and therapy. Yeah, because I Kate it leans right. Okay, but but she's not like an extreme right. Oh, god, no. See, then then it doesn't count to the city.
SPEAKER_01Like she doesn't, she's not pro-marijuana.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Which is okay. It's fine.
SPEAKER_03I want to have a conversation right now.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think the marijuana thing is, and not that Kate's old. Not that Kate's old. I think she's mid-50s.
SPEAKER_03Do not Eric Zane this.
SPEAKER_01What does it matter now? The show's done. I should invite him in. Oh, she says she's a moderate. Interesting. I would say not. Oh, I would say not. So, okay, we're gonna go side note because this last episode. We're an hour and two minutes in. I know.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god. So I think so. I w at the tax office, we were talking about what we think we are. We we all think we're kind of moderate with and I'd say I lean left, and somebody was like, I lean right. I go, and they haven't done it yet. I want to find a test that actually tells you, based on questions about beliefs, where it thinks you line up. Because I think sometimes we all think we're moderate, and maybe we aren't. Maybe you're like extreme liberal, or maybe you're truly moderate, or maybe you're conservative.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think around the election time, there's a couple sites you can go to that tells you how to vote. I mean, I feel like that's gonna tell you. Yeah, she says she's a moderate Republican. I didn't think that was is that a thing?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's becoming less of a thing because there's less moderates to vote for.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the shitty part.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, there's there's there's some Republicans in office who are now considered liberal as Republicans. Oh. And they'll say, I haven't changed my beliefs at all. My beliefs are the same as five years ago. But now you're calling me a moderate. But my party has moved so right. Oh, I'm I'm left going. He's liberal when he's was a conservative years ago.
SPEAKER_01Anyways, yeah. Yeah, I mean, that it's so weird, all that stuff that goes on. But um, I don't know how we got on Kate. Poor Kate.
SPEAKER_03She well, she popped up. She said it.
SPEAKER_01She's the one who brought up on us up. Weird twist, Mike Camps. So yeah, he I had to hide him and unfollow him, like, which is a bummer because he was like, you know, my heart kind of went out to him because he's he he's a recovering uh uh addict, which I I wasn't, but like I'm always I'm always drawn to people that have tattoos because I feel like that's their story. And and you know, I get tattoos because I like the pain. Yeah, you know what I mean? So I just kind of when I see ink, I I get tuned into like that kind of thing. And man, he just went off the fucking rails. So um, what about your sister, Megan? I regret that having her on, yeah, and and me being on her show, like it was it was a it was a soft, so not a soft moment, a weak moment. Same word, uh not really, but you know what I meant. Yeah, that I we were talking then, it's just like what a fucking noise. She's the biggest fake there is, and I wasted my listeners' time and in a life unfiltered knowing that she was a fake. Yeah, yeah, that's what pisses me off mostly. As I saw that one, I was like, ah, I'm so pissed at that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, so something you have on that I noticed when I was for episode 200 counting up times, some of those first episodes were so long. Yeah, there was a couple two hour plus, two hour plus. I think I think there was one since episode 100 that's when I and Dave were on. That one was too long even in studio. But yeah, I was like, how did anyone if anyone finish it, they should get a medal for finishing that? Hey, I have news about about him.
SPEAKER_01I think you've told me a little bit. Yeah, I mean, I fired him. I I what you you've just had whiskey and it's the last one.
SPEAKER_03So you're gonna.
SPEAKER_01And she fucking ghosted me. And you're like, Well, that was the last time it's been happening before. Wow. I called Dave, we had a good 30-minute conversation. I'm like, listen, man, I need somebody that I can relate to, and I I love you, but your wife's driving me crazy, and we kind of talked about her a little bit, and she's like, I get it, man. Yeah, he goes, I get it. So I he said, Uh, do you want me to talk to her? I was like, You will know when the time is right. I don't want you to go home tonight. Once you just process through what you heard, if you never tell her, I'm okay with that. I love her, I do, and I just can't take it as a friend anymore, getting ghosted so many times. Yeah, and she needs some help, and she knows it, and Dave knows it, but she's not willing to get it. And so I hope somewhere down the road that she does. Yeah. So, anyways, Bruins Must said he has listened to every episode completely. That's incredible. That's so much content for real. I mean, I take him at his word, he's an honest guy.
SPEAKER_03So, based on what what does it say in episode 200? What did I say? What was the number of hours he's listened to threads?
SPEAKER_01Um, give me two seconds. 200? 13,000 plus minutes. How many hours is that again? Oh my gosh. And then we probably got another ten hours in after that at least.
SPEAKER_03So it's two hundred and sixteen hours that he listened to plus. So maybe two twenty and two twenty five. What are you doing with your life? But maybe while he's working like yeah. So Chris, is this one where where you listen like while while you're working? Like, is it because I mean like when when you had when when you were doing a lawn, you would just fly through podcasts and book. Six to seven hours a day. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I would listen to podcasts. Which is different than an office job or commuting. He says I drive a lot. There you go. Yeah. No. I am gonna miss that. That is, and it's hard during for gig work. Yeah. Because you're in and out, you got to turn it off to talk to somebody. I mean, I try, but I've kind of lost I've kind of I got a couple of my favorite shows I listen to. Of course, the Eric Zang Show podcast.
SPEAKER_03I I found like also with when you're getting close and trying to do turn by turn. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you got the no, and you're like, I just need actually I I have all my GPS on mute. I don't ever hear anything. It's all looking at the picture. Okay. Uh Chris listens at 1.5 speed. How? We did it, we did an example of that the other day. How?
SPEAKER_03His brain gets used to it.
SPEAKER_01God dang.
SPEAKER_02We should talk slower for him. Dear right wing Republican Chris. Bruinsma.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Jesper. First time he's ever contributed to Threads Podcast Live. Welcome. It's very nice to meet you online.
SPEAKER_03I've never met you online.
SPEAKER_01Do you listen to all your shows at 1.5, Chris?
SPEAKER_03I assume he does. So there are books. There's a book by Obama that I listened to at 1.5 because Oh, he is a slow talker. I think he stuck.
SPEAKER_01I don't think he was like that before the presidency. No, I think the presidency messed with this speaking. Yeah, I think they trained him to speak a little slower.
SPEAKER_03And I think it met he had some speech things. Suffers with a speech impediment. Oh, he had a speech. I think either he had one or developed one as president. And they worked on it. They're like, hey, you gotta slow it down. And I think they slowed him down. That was his way because he kind of does something weird even before he speaks when it's low. So um I don't want to do all of these because they're that okay. Um how have you changed by being on threads? I become more liberal, that's for sure. For sure. If you will listen to Jason, like you and where Chris is now. Oh, I wasn't right wing Chris at that point. You were what right winged.
SPEAKER_01No way.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyways. Right. So I was Republican.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I wasn't right winged. Sorry. You were Republican. Correct. You were a moderate leaning to the right. Yes. And now I would say you are no longer a moderate. What? I would say you are pretty leftist. What? You're you're getting there. No way. Okay. The longer that you've been on TikTok, I've seen you move even more left.
SPEAKER_01Oh God, that's all I see on TikTok.
SPEAKER_03I know. I so I have seen you even this last year move more left. I would say beginning last year, you were moderate left. Now I'd say you're left.
SPEAKER_01I think with this whole abortion thing, it it really kind of stuck. It pushed it up a lot for you. Yeah. Uh Kate agrees with you. About what? Me being like all liberal. Yes. But here's the thing. I still, I still like capitalism. And like you and I argue about that all the time. So do I mean Democrats like capitalism.
SPEAKER_03They like it with restrictions.
SPEAKER_01Right. But I I like capitalism. I want to keep my money, but I I realize too that that money needs to be for the the services that I want to keep supporting. So I understand that. I still have them all with my guns. I will say, I have not carried my pistol in a long ass time. And I don't know why. I just I put it in my safe one time in my bedroom, and I've I haven't taken it out in a long time.
SPEAKER_03Just there. So so that's that's you feel like in a good way you've changed. I don't know if I asked a good way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Jesper would say I I am way more tolerant and patient. You have done tons of work. Well and like mental health, you've changed a ton. Yeah. I mean, I gotta give it up for my therapist, Heather. I mean, I miss her so much. Do you think Heather listens anonymously? Uh, I don't know, but I do miss her. Yeah, I literally miss her. I want to I want to reach out so bad, like, and just say, can we just go have coffee? I don't think she ever will. She's she's such a rule follower. Which well, technically it wouldn't be breaking a rule.
SPEAKER_03Do you feel like there's no do you feel like she became like your best friend? 100%. Okay. 100%. Because you shared everything. Everything that you've not shared with anyone else. Correct. No other human. Correct. I'm sure there's things that you've shared with her that you haven't shared with Megan.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I don't mean a bad way, but just when you're dealing with therapy, yeah.
SPEAKER_01There's things that's the point of it. Yeah. That's why it's incredible to have somebody there to do that.
SPEAKER_03But what's weird is that like in the moment you're like, you're my best friend, and they're probably at some point like your client. I'm my next client.
SPEAKER_01And again, there's connections, but Yeah, I've never like said that to her. Of course. But it was so hard to like the last six months, I was not making huge gains. And I was, I think I was limping it along. Well, you were. And I wanted to do EMDR, and then I'm like, you know what? I feel good now. I don't want to fucking go down that dark road. And I may go back someday, and I hope it's with her. But if it's not, but yeah, my mental health has been incredible. And then the medication, like I used to dog med, not dog meds, I was just always nervous about them and didn't like them as a crutch. But now I'm like, fuck yeah, let's go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's the thing. I think you didn't like it when people would just instead of doing therapy, yeah, just pop a pill and be like, oh, I'm all better now. Yeah. It's a both in. Is there any ways you feel like you've changed in the bad, or like, yeah, it's not a bad way, but you've changed in ways that maybe aren't the best?
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm gonna flip it. Have you seen me? Well, what about you then? Um Well, what about positive first?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I haven't changed I mean, I haven't been on this as long as it's been just over years.
SPEAKER_01Tell me how listening to the show from beginning down.
SPEAKER_03Listening and being on, I think, is just seeking to be more open and vulnerable with people. I naturally, believe it or not, shock, surprise, and not a vulnerable person by nature due to trauma I experienced.
SPEAKER_01I will say I I feel it and I tease you a little bit, I am bummed the way the show went. I enjoyed it, yeah, but I'm bummed we got away from our core message. And when Philpot sent that message, I was like, Yeah, that's it. So long story short, uh yeah, fuck it. He won't care. Matt Philpot had sent a long message when he found out Threads was ending and just like, I got help because of you. Yeah, like I'm like, oh, like I actually was taking a shit when I read that in a fucking Meyer. No, it was a family fair in Rockford working for little Debbie because I had to shit so bad. No, I was like, my little Debbie Mike. I'm like, I gotta go. I I gotta go. Yeah. And I read that and I teared up a little bit.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, damn it. Well, and it made it harder. So I noticed like because we would talk about mental health probably every third week, but then when you stopped therapy, it became there was became so hard to talk about because it wasn't personal anymore.
SPEAKER_01It kind of could have been though. Like, and and I don't I I have just as part of the show, I could have said, no, Mike, we're doing this, but I enjoyed not getting too deep. I honestly did. I had so much, and don't and Ben, don't take this the wrong way because I know you're you'll listen to it. I had I have more fun with you because we're we're we're fucking around a lot of the times, you know. We are getting serious, but um, so that was really impactful uh when Matt sent that message.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so and again, I think for me, like again, the change from who I was in what 2018 when it started. Yeah, I think become much more open and vulnerable than I have been before.
SPEAKER_01It's interesting you brought up that trauma that you've had, and I don't know what it is, but have you dealt with that? Yeah, I'm doing I mean it's dealing, it's always dealing. But but don't you think that should be done with a therapist?
SPEAKER_03Um It was in the beginning. I I but even the therapist is like you now have the tools to go and deal with that.
SPEAKER_01I think that's bullshit because I I think that you will never be able to help yourself. No one out there can help themselves. I totally disagree. At some point you did you can. Yeah. But I don't think go how long did you go for? Six months?
SPEAKER_03Um, I don't know if it was even that. Yeah. But at the point, I mean, I I'm gonna trust the therapist who says I understand that, but you're only gonna they're only gonna know what you tell them. Oh, we talked we talk deep stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I disagree. I mean, there's people in our like I tell Megan all the time like she's struggling with somebody. I'd be like, listen, if they're not gonna get help, they ain't gonna change. If they don't have the tools to do it.
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But if you have a therapist, I mean I I appreciate your opinion, but I'm gonna trust a doctor who's done it.
SPEAKER_01Well, I disagree because I don't I don't think you're as vulnerable as you should be.
SPEAKER_03But I mean, you could say that about you or like I'm okay with that.
SPEAKER_01Like I'm not mad about it.
SPEAKER_03No, I could say that too. I mean, I think all of us, and I would I I think even a therapist would disagree that you who that their their goal is to help you process, but also give you the tools to keep processing. Right. And keep being more aware of it. What are those tools? For me, it'd be journaling. For me, it's um taking time to meditate and take some deep breaths and do that, and then Well, I know the journaling, because you've you talk about that all the time. I mean, journaling is probably where I'm the most vulnerable. Are you? Yeah. Can I read those? Sure. No.
SPEAKER_01So anything bad? Anything that you've you think that you've developed some like cussing? This guy, he doesn't not cuss a lot, but he's cusses more now than when I first met him.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I mean, I've always And not terrible things, by the way, anyone that's listening. But no, I mean at times probably it's I mean, especially if I'm around you versus somebody else. If I'm talking to you or Ben, it's easier probably it's more likely to drop a cuss bomb. Like when we used to tell telegram. Yeah, telegram. I was gonna say telegraph. I was like, that's wrong. Telegram, I'm more likely to drop swear word with you than him when you did that.
SPEAKER_01And it doesn't even phase, it used to phase me. I used to tup mice and not try to swear in front of my kids.
SPEAKER_03Oh gosh, I I remember one of the spots I was waiting for a train in Holland and you said that. I was like, Jason, stop that. That's so stupid. Because if that's you and you're gonna swear, don't be like, oh, because you work at a church, I don't want to swear.
SPEAKER_01Well, hey, I I've been exposed to stupid ass Christians my whole life, mostly, except except a live. I if you go to a live and you hear this, I I had no problem with you. Yeah, yesper say I have a bad influence of swear words on people. Does Jesper swear more now? Oh, yeah, 100%. 100%.
SPEAKER_03That's just because he's frustrated with having to deal with you. Yeah, 100%. Poor Jesper.
SPEAKER_01When he says the F-word on the show, like sometimes I I I always know when he gets the first F word on gig before me, because then I'm like, oh yeah, we're hot tonight.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna have a good show tonight because Jesper dropped the F word.
SPEAKER_03His filter is gone. Um as we look at is there anything that you regret about the show?
SPEAKER_01I never regret that I did it. I'm gonna regret that it ended. Uh as much as I've uh quote unquote processed it and put it in a box and put it on a shelf. I am gonna regret it, I think. Uh, but that's okay. Yeah. It's not a bad thing. It's not like Yeah. I mean, I regret that the that Ben and I had a falling out. I mean, yeah, we've made up, but it still is never gonna sit it's not the same that it was. It's not the same. Um I'm gonna regret ending it because you're gonna ghost me and then we're not gonna The fear of abandonment. Seriously, maybe you should go see your therapist. My whole fucking life has been that. I know. Not my wife. Don't go get me wrong, but like my whole life is just like fuck.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you were just talking about it with another friend.
unknownJanna.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Right?
SPEAKER_03You're talking about that and your whole story with your mom and uh dad and quotes and all that stuff, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes, R says question though, is that because you encourage realness? I'm not sure what he's referring to.
SPEAKER_03Oh, with the swearing. Maybe. I mean, that that's the last thing we were talking about with him. So maybe he maybe because you encourage realness, people will swear around you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Maybe. I want people to be themselves around me. Don't be fake. Like Jesper's, yeah, it is the swearing. Yesper says I'll never abandon you, Jason. So, hey, you heard it on here. It's recorded, so if you ever leave me.
SPEAKER_03So gig is never gonna end unless Jason ends it.
SPEAKER_01Or I kill Yesper, I kill Yesper some for some reason.
SPEAKER_03Switching, switching to every week, off of a sudden Jesper's like, I take that back. Right. I will abandon Jason.
SPEAKER_01I mean, regret isn't the correct word. I don't know. But it is. I mean, you're feeling that you're feeling like you'll regret the decision to end it. Because once it's done, it's like, of course, I can start it back up again, but it just will never be the same.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And um, I feel like your and I show and the the Ben and I show are two separate shows. I shouldn't have had the same title. Yeah. We did talk about that. We we should have either retitled it or redone a show. Wouldn't we come to the same point though? A fork in the road. Oh, probably you're busy, I'm busy, it hasn't grown as much as we both wanted to. I mean, we have our super fans, and god damn it. Sorry, Mike. I appreciate every single one of those fans. Yeah, you know, and and I appreciate all of you, of course. So don't be offended.
SPEAKER_03Um super fans that we don't even know about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, 100%. There's people that have listened to this show that are genuinely bummed that it's ending and have never sent an empath, never sent a message. Yeah. And I'm sorry to them.
SPEAKER_03I think the thing I regret most is that I know it wasn't my fault, but I feel like I broke up the band. I get that. And it's like, man, like could I have and I've processed like could I have done anything different to have prohibited the breakup of you and Ben in what was supposed to be, you know, you, Ben, and I on a show. Because I I think, and Ben, don't take this the wrong way. I think that show would have been really good. I think it would have too. I think that show what could have taken off.
SPEAKER_01I think we would have had to have some heart to hearts periodically because there was gonna be some hurt feelings.
SPEAKER_03Because there's three, right? There was gonna be hurt feelings, it would be more of conflict.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and as much as I look like uh like a Trumper, I I I'm sensitive. You know what I mean? I I I have you totally random, and you never know. I've never told anyone any of this before, and this isn't don't worry, it's nothing crazy, but I told Megan over the weekend that I don't like looking at myself in the mirror. Really? I have self-esteem issues with it. I've always wanted to be that guy that had that look, whatever. Like I'm the blah blah blah guy, and that's a lot of the reason why I grow the beard because people know me for the beard. You're the beard guy, I'm the beard guy. I'm recognizable, but I don't like looking myself in the mirror.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I Megan's like, Don't you look at I don't know, I think I had something in my teeth, and of course I had to go to the gift shop and spend $40 on a freaking floss. It wasn't $40. But yeah, but I had to to get one, I couldn't get it out for as much as I tried. She's like, Don't you look at yourself in the mirror? I'm like, no. I just do it in the morning and that's it, just to make sure everything's in peace. But, anyways, that's it. That's therapist. That's your I'm uncomfortable. So, anyway, no stop. Yours isn't so anyways. Yours is anyways. We're gonna have to break this into two episodes. There's just no way. No, we're gonna do one last two hours.
SPEAKER_03What are they gonna do? Stop listening. People want people want it. That's true. Like maybe I won't. Oh I'm editing this. Oh my god. Or don't um because one of people are not gonna listen. So I mean, I so like take say taking bit with uh Zane on Free Beer and Hot Wings. I loved it when he was on because with the three of them there was way more dynamics. And when he left, the the dynamic left. Yep. And I think we could have had that, the three of us. And so then for me on my part, I'm like, could I have done anything different to not know. I know, but like again, that's my regret.
SPEAKER_01This was all Ben and I.
SPEAKER_03I know, but like again, this is my regret because you come in and that's when it breaks, and you're like, I wish something could have been done different, because I think it would have um. I think we would have struggled.
SPEAKER_01I think Ben and I worked because we're yin and yang. Yin yin and yang.
SPEAKER_03But I think also it would have worked because again, there were parts of me that were like Ben and parts like you. True.
SPEAKER_01You were you were never a ride or die for either of us. You were uh, you know what that means? Like you never were pro-me or pro-ben. In fact, I think a lot of times you were more pro-Ben than pro me. Yeah, it depends on what it is, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03I you know, and I think you guys each felt that and things. What is the impact you hope this show had on people?
SPEAKER_01I hope like just like Philpot reached out. I hope that it helped them mentally. I hope it got through their day. I hope they hear, hear, heard our show. If it was our episodes or not, doesn't matter. Man, that guy fucked up, and it's okay that I fucked up too. And they talked about it like that's my opportunity to be on a show and just say, I fucked up. Yeah, and this is what happened, and these are my consequences, and this is what I'm gonna do better. And I hope that people heard that and said, It's okay to make mistakes because it is yeah, you can't learn from them if you don't mess up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03My hope is that people have found a friendships where they can do this. So, like, even this weekend going away to the woods and talking with guys, I don't know that I would have been that vulnerable pre-this show really with them. Oh, that means a lot. So that's one of those where I hope people find that. Because at the end of the day, like you and I could just have had this, but if we you're tearing up, you fucker. Yes, god dang it, yes, I didn't even mean to. But it was one of those where where I where I hope people have those experiences because they are to be known and to have your struggles with somebody else is way better than that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's so it's so impactful. I mean, it it it's just yeah, I appreciate you saying that because like that was the goal to have more conversations about uncomfortable stuff, and even stuff you disagree on.
SPEAKER_03Like, I even liked with the guys, we disagreed on things, but we could have a conversation that wasn't your horrible person, but like help me understand, and I want to help you understand, and we may have to push back and forth, but like our world doesn't have those conversations.
SPEAKER_01No, that's the damn problem. Yes, that's why why didn't this damn show take off? Because no one wants to have them, yeah, exactly. And there's a there's 20, 200,000 other podcasts that try to do the same thing.
SPEAKER_03No, most of them are going to the extremes, and people don't want conversation that isn't you're you're an idiot. Like I remember I remember overhearing somebody listening to podcasts, I'm like, that tone is just terrible. Like Yeah, they don't want extremes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're right. We want to talk about stuff, but we don't need to be crazy about this or crazy about this, because then it's just like you've all you've labeled you got all the nuts for that thing over there.
SPEAKER_03I mean I mean, there are episodes that did some of the best recent recently in the past year were like Mike wants the band guns and Jason doesn't. Yeah. So we were feeding that, but like we there was a lot of common ground. I we just had to extrapolate that for numbers. Correct. Which, like it, like that's the problem with all of us.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it behind the scenes, the the the growing a show is so hard. Yeah. Um yeah, anyways.
SPEAKER_03Final question. Yes, sir. Has threads made you a better person or a worse person?
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, that's obvious. But but I want it like in the like the I mean it's made me a better person. I think maybe you're gonna No, I hey, hey Jason, change here a second.
SPEAKER_03We need to talk. Jason, remember when you started you were a Christian? You went to church. Well, that's true. No, but okay. Oh, that's so bad. No, no, no, no, let's can I can I can I can I can I go there? Yeah. I'm more proud of where you are spiritually now than when you faked it and didn't realize why you were there. You were there to say that no, but you were there, I think. Again, tell me if I'm wrong, but from my perspective, you were there because that's what your family did, but you have a shit ton of trauma with that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I I went because I felt guilty.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Even with Megan and I, like I felt guilty that I should go. That was the right thing to do.
SPEAKER_03Where I hope that someday you'll deal with the trauma, right? Of your mom and church and how those things have been weirdly combined. I mean, I kind of have though, right? Sort of. Maybe. I don't know. I'm not really talked about the church portion of it, but and my my hope is someday that because my s my hope is someday you'll want to go to church because you love Jesus and want to be part of his group. I I'm more proud of you though for being where you are than when you were like. Going because you felt guilty. Yeah. And yet it was just trauma for you the whole time. Yeah. I remember episodes where you talk where when you were with Ben and you you blacked out the whole time. Like, like he's talking about it. Ben's talking about you're like, I don't, I I blacked out the whole thing. Like there's an interaction between you, you two at the church, and you just blacked out. Yeah. And I was like, that's not good. No. So I'm I'm so you know, I joked about that, but no, I'm like, I'm glad you are where you are now because you're being honest. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I still feel weird though. With you, like, I don't know. What in what way? I just don't feel like I'm being a genuine friend. I don't know. It doesn't sound stupid. I know. I know you shake your head. Like, it doesn't make sense to me either. Just because like I want to support you, like you're starting this church, and like I I feel like I need to go and do all that. I mean, I don't even know if you're meeting, you don't tell me.
SPEAKER_03But no, you don't need to go. I want you to figure out the Jesus thing. Even in friendship. But how am I gonna figure it out? Ask questions. Well because or we have conversations, because otherwise, like you you said have conversations and we do, and then you're like, nope, that's not anything from God.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes it's hard to take you seriously with stuff. I'm sure because we're friends. I know we talk about the dumbest shit, so it's like see, and and I have no problem.
SPEAKER_03So again, with these pastors, we talked about the dumbest shit. Well, of course, you're all pastors, but then it would go from dumb shit to serious back and forth. Okay. So that's just me naturally. Like, I can go in and out from serious to dumb shit. Would you think that could be a show?
SPEAKER_01Like relating pastors to the real world. Like, we're not the asshole Christian people. I mean, maybe there were some assholes there. I don't know what if that's the title. We are assholes. I mean, you should hear one of my clients. She it's vulgar advice. You should hear her trailer. She drops three swear words in a 20-second trailer. No, I mean, I what a great opportunity. Yeah. Like, I don't know how that would work, but I would listen to that, especially someone that's been harmed in the church.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I would be like, I want to listen to these guys that talk about how Christians screwed it up. Not to be like, yeah, go Christian. Because I still consider myself a Christian. Yeah. You know what I mean? Not to rip on Christians, be like, hey, we messed up. This is what needs to change, or the shit's gonna be trouble. Yeah. In River City. River City. Chris Bruinsman. We're all hypocrites. Yeah, but the Christians did did a number. They did a real number. I mean, especially on you. On me, but a lot of people for sure. And again, I'm I'm seeing the curated content on TikTok because what I watch longer, but still, it's like I all these people are like, oh my gosh, re reconstruction, reconstruction.
SPEAKER_03I mean, it's and it's reconstruction or deconstruction. Deconstruction. Thank you. I mean, there hopefully is some reconstruction after deconstruction. Chris, that's the name of the show.
SPEAKER_01We're all hypocrites.
SPEAKER_03We're all hypocrites.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna Google that right now. No, I'm not. Somebody Google that. Tell me if that's actually a show.
SPEAKER_03We're all hypocrites. Um, I I gotta answer it. You're not asking me, so I'm just gonna. Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry. No, no, I'm just gonna interview myself. That's why I've been doing the long time. Sorry, hey, whiskey. Um, I think Threads has made me a much better person. If you said worse, I would end the show right here. Much worse person. It would just terrible. I don't okay. I don't know how much being on it has made me a better person. Natalie thinks it has, so I'm gonna trust her in that. I think listening to it probably made me a better person than being on it. Interesting. I don't know that was bad being on it. I just don't know that it helped me as much as listening.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, again, we were a different show. Different shows. I mean, we really could have rebranded and and named it something different.
SPEAKER_03And I was in a different place. Like I, so if you started 2018, right? Yeah, where were you in 2018? So I had just had a mental not breakdown, but like I got stuck in an on decision an on position of like making decisions and couldn't get out of that. And I Well, you couldn't make decisions? No, I couldn't get out of that. You know, like when emergency happens, oh yeah, and you get in that mode, yeah, I couldn't get out of there.
SPEAKER_01Like after the emergency? Days after. Okay, we did talk about this. I briefly remember.
SPEAKER_03So and and then that's when started my therapy journey, which I thought I'd meet with a therapist once. Ha ha ha! So arrogant. Cool story. But it was one of those where then I think because where I was, it connected to me. Like, oh, there's other guys who are going through similar things who are in therapy. Yeah, and with Ben having been in as a pastor too, it's like, okay, like yeah, inside the church I've been, because it there's very few in the church that are public about it. It's getting better, right? I mean, that's five years ago, yeah. But so I think for me that was a space of like, oh, there's people that, and that's why I liked it. Again, I I liked when you that's why I didn't listen to interviews because some of them were good, and some of them were some of the people are just like, I disagree with you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and but just that well, I think it was impactful for you because it's it's it's so weird. Like to me, this is like a little bit of sign from God, like especially with people in my life, okay. Ben adopted kids, went to Cornerstone, youth pastors, like these are all boxes you're checking for both of you. Like, I'm like, oh my gosh, like Ben put me Ben put or Ben God Ben. God put Ben and and Mike into my life, and that's probably why it was so hard when we had that blowout in in December. But I think that's why you got a lot of the show too, because you related to Ben. What?
SPEAKER_03What you're tearing up twice. No, I'm not tearing up. Okay, so related to Ben.
SPEAKER_01Now you sidetracked me. Then I read a comment. Um you know, you just you could relate to Ben and then you could relate to me because you're like, oh, I I like him. He's he's kind of edgy like me. He kind of tells it like it is and stuff like that. So I think that was a big um a big thing too. Larry had a apparently on Apple Podcast, we are all hypocrites. So there is a show. But we could, you know, we could we could change it a little bit. Just change the tagline. How about we are all fucking hypocrites?
SPEAKER_03That'd be a good one. So we're gonna transition and wrap up some final threads. Yes, some final threads. So we inv we invited Ben to be on the show. Um, we didn't want this to be because again, it was more his show than my show. Um he again in the letter was he gave us a letter. He said, I want to trust some signs that his body was giving him of not wanting to be on. But he had a letter, and I'm gonna have Jason read it because I'm a crier. And and by the way, totally respect Ben for that. Oh, for sure. I yeah, I'm I actually told him in the text I'm so proud of you for doing for making that decision.
SPEAKER_01I was a little bummed, I'll be honest. 100%. But it would be this show would be four hours long. Oh, for sure. You know, because he would have some great fucking insight that you and I didn't think about. I honestly, he would probably make me cry more than you. So I'm just saying that. All right, I'm gonna try to read this. Uh uh, I probably won't cry, but um I'm I do have one glass of whiskey. Dear Threats Community, 200 episodes, 200 plus episodes. That's a huge accomplishment. I'm honored to be part of the show from the majority of them. In a lot of ways, I feel like I was a sports commentator, calling the shots as I saw being made in the realm of mental health, faith, and uncomfortable conversations. It was an absolute riot, and I made a lot of lasting friendships, including, but not limited to Mike and Jason along the way. But the end of the day, I was a commentator. I coined the tagline, keep the faith, do your work, and live life unfiltered. But I was struggling with all of these. Sure, I shared bits from my life, but by and large, I was content to stay in the media booth, overlooking the field, and never really gotten to the action. Parentheses. Be impressed that my non-sportsy non-sportsy Ben just came up with a sports analogy. It was pretty good, honestly. That doesn't actually sound like him. Did you chat GPT this bitch? He was talking about doing this, so I don't know if he did.
SPEAKER_03Well, first he just showed me a sample of like his his screen channels.
SPEAKER_01Maybe he did, but maybe not. Who knows? Who knows? Uh, as the years went by, despite how much I like to talk about mental health, my own began to deteriorate very quickly. You probably remember my sudden departure from the show. It was rough. I cut out a lot of things for my life as 2021 came to a close. It was the opposite of graceful, and I caused some people a lot of undue hurt. I was a mess and needed to make some major changes. There was so much inner work that I needed to do, and it was beyond overdue. Part of the fallout was nearly a year of separation. Part of the fallout was nearly a year of separation from Mike and Jason. During that year, I did my work. My faith was one of the few things of substance that I can lean into and keep after cutting so much out of my life. And to be honest, I don't quite know what it means to live life unfiltered, but I do know what it means to live with intention and follow my gut. That's something I really dug into in the year of separation. In fact, my decision not to appear on the last episode is because of my gut and my intention to follow it. I wasn't at peace about appearing on the final episode. The thought of it caused tightness in my chest, a telltale sign that I'm feeling anxious. It wasn't sitting right with me. I feel like if I appeared on the last episode, it would be the opposite of everything I've learned and worked for in 2022. Years of ignoring gut feelings led me to a very broken place. My decision not to appear on the show has nothing to do with any relationship dynamics between Mike and Jason and I. We are working on mending the relationships, and I'm feeling at peace with that process. My decision is made out of a commitment to myself to listen to my gut and set boundaries. I hope my decision encourages all our fans and listeners to do likewise. It's okay to set boundaries, it's so needed, and it's okay to honor those boundaries. Super fucking hard, by the way. That's my comment. Yeah. The show may be ending, but your journey, but our journey continues. Let's all keep the faith, do our work, and not just talk about it and live life unfiltered. I still don't know what that means, but it sounds trendy. Jason, oh shoot, that's Mike's transition phrase. I was never good at transitions either. Thanks for the memories, Ben.
SPEAKER_03So yeah. That was good. It was. And I I even say so. I read that he sent it to me and then I passed it on, and I had a situation come up Friday. There was a local church that needed a guest preacher. Okay. And normally I'd be all over that. Um, but it was sent out to a group of us in text, and I was like, uh no, like you were going on your trip. I was going on my trip, and you know, like if I do it before, and I finally have a weekend where I'm not teaching, and I just really needed that mentally and emotionally, just a week enough from that. But I was like, I I I I I I am really should do that. I should do that because now they're without a a preacher, and I should just go do it. And as I'm thinking that and about to text, my test, my bad guys. That was the Vito's Vito's, Tito's Tito's with burner. Vito Vito's Pizza, that's downtown GR. And my chest tightens up, and for me too, that's a telltale sign. Um, I think I should do because I'm a feeler, my chest tightens to protect my heart. And I was like, huh. Ben's just talked about this. So I actually I was I declined. Um, and then I um messaged Ben. I'm like, hey, thanks for being that example too. Because it is, right? It's so hard to trust your body when it's something like you feel like you should do. So I'm proud of him. I'm proud of him for this of trusting his body and being unfiltered about trusting it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, he's definitely made some changes, you know. Um, I won't go into him, but stuff that I've noticed that for the better, you know, just limiting his basically came down to notifications on his phone just to say that like he can't get telegram again because it just it was just popping off too much, and so yeah, so it's I'm I'm proud of him for doing that. And I and I hope things continue. You know, we talk a couple times a week and nice. We haven't kissed yet, but that time's coming for sure. I mean this table. Never mind.
SPEAKER_03Nope, not going there.
SPEAKER_01It is not sturdy for us to do that. So you're you're supposed to give me a present that he won't take back. That's that's what it says.
SPEAKER_03It was a little bit of a spite because I also have the present you gave to me. Yeah. That you wanted all of it back.
SPEAKER_01Well, come on, you're not gonna use it.
unknownI'm not bitter at all.
SPEAKER_01Are you really? You're gonna be honest?
unknownI'm not bitter.
SPEAKER_01Oh no. Okay. Oh no, it's a picture.
SPEAKER_03And and a card. You have to read the card live on air. Oh no, it's just just a picture of you. But but you no, you're gonna read why. So so there actually, there's a podcast I listen to who encourages people who've gone to Israel and have gone through some heavy shit to do this.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And so wait, so it says this is what he calls me. If you listen to my telegram notification from him, it says Jason Gerald. Jason Gerald! Yeah. Do you want me to read this?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you gotta read it. You don't have to read it out loud, but you can. Oh. Actually, you can read it out. Read it out loud. Read it out loud.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, your r oh no, your writing is so bad. Oh no. When did you write this?
SPEAKER_03Tonight.
SPEAKER_01But I but I've thought through it before. I just wrote it on the card. Okay, I'm gonna try to read the writing. It's so bad. And small. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_02That's what she said.
SPEAKER_01The desert in Israel is harsh, dangerous, and lonely. In the midst of the desert, God placed Engedis. Engedi. Engedi is a place of provision, refreshment, and provision. You wrote that twice.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it should be protection. Protection, God should be.
SPEAKER_01The picture is of me experiencing a sport of God, a spring of God. After some long days in the desert, it was so refreshing. In that moment, I felt God's provision and protection. And this is what your friendship has been for me during this desert season. Oh I appreciate that. So no, no. So this is you meaning like during your desert time with Desert time since Providence.
SPEAKER_03Again, there's been very few people. I mean, there are there are some in the pastors I went with there were some, but but you have been that. It's so interesting how few people are that in life.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Like people are there when things are going good, and when things are down, they all run away.
SPEAKER_01I always want to be that friend. Yeah. My goal in life is to be that friend. Like, I'm gonna be the one that that shows up when you need it. I'm not gonna run away. Yeah, like I'm just not gonna do it. And so I appreciate that. That means a lot. I don't know if I want a picture of you.
SPEAKER_03You don't necessarily need to keep the picture, but it plays with the present.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, it's good. I remember that. I remember when you showed that, I was like, damn, it's so pretty. It was so incredible.
SPEAKER_03Um I wasn't as fat there, so you know that's good. Talk about looking in the mirror.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of fat. Um, so yeah, that that's it.
SPEAKER_03That was do you have any final threads that you have?
SPEAKER_01I I I want to talk so much more. Like, I appreciate this. I yeah, I don't know. I'm not as sad as I thought I would be. As you're tearing up. I'm not a little teary. Yeah, it's allergies. Yeah. I'm not a guy that does, I don't mind. Although my daughter says she's only seen me cry one time when we put Baxter down. Oh, yeah. I was a mess, blubbering because we did it at the house. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Which is the best way?
SPEAKER_01It's the best. I will spend as much, it was ended up being like $500 for everything, like the cremation, but whatever. I was like, whatever, take my money. Like, I'm not going to the vet's office. Oh, it's scaring the crap out of your dog, no. Yeah, exactly. They know where they're going. But yeah, so she hasn't seen me cry. Oh, that's only the one time. Uh obviously, I cried when my my grandmother passed away. But yeah, no, I I this has been amazing. Like this whole experience, like literally, I'm not being like, it has changed my life. Like, I feel like I'm such and no therapy, of course, too, but I I'm not sure I'd be where I'm at now in therapy if it wasn't for threads. Yeah. Because I had that opportunity to talk about it outside of like the therapist's office.
SPEAKER_03And you were kind of pressured into it, into keeping with therapy.
SPEAKER_01Kind of, yeah. I mean, I never felt that pressure, but it kind of was. Yeah. Um, and I was making gains. Well, and you know, and we talked about why I kept going on it long because of that. But anything else you want to add?
SPEAKER_03No, this is this is your ending. You've been on the longest. It doesn't matter. No, you're the longest lasting podcast host of Threads. You have won the medal. There is no medal to Ben and I are gonna get a trophy for you. Longest surviving, most durable threads podcast host.
SPEAKER_01The most biggest idiot. That's truly what it is. Episode 211. Jason goes solo. Jason can't stop. Oh my gosh. I'm gonna miss it. And I guess like I told people before, this is this is not what is it? Not goodbye. This is wait. See you later. I said something, but no, I mean, who knows down the road? Yeah. I love podcasting. I it it's it's part of my thing. I just don't want to be the one that does it all. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um now Jason's gonna have Jason's still gonna have an every week episode. Go listen to him on gig economy. Yep. That's a different Jason.
SPEAKER_01It's a different me. It's it's a lot more goofy and a lot more volatile, not volatile.
SPEAKER_03But maybe people will like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I never I never ask people to listen unless you're a gig worker because is there any podcast?
SPEAKER_03This is off script, so we're just gonna go there. Who cares that we're almost two hours in?
SPEAKER_01Joe says he listens to gig. He just signed in real quick.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Hey Joe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's because we're at 9.02.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no shit. He's done with his he's done with it, or he's on a break before his next Zoom. No, I think that's it. 7 to 88 tonight. Oh, gotcha. We've been going for an hour and 45 minutes. Oh my gosh. 147. Yes. Oh my gosh. Um, I wasn't gonna say crap, what were you doing? Is there any show that I would recommend?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, people because again, because because I know with like shows on TV, like they go away, and all of a sudden you have this hole in your lips.
SPEAKER_01I know. I don't, I listen to the dumbest shit, like no deep thinking stuff. Just the only one is Smartless that I've Smartless, and I'm way behind in that one, but but that's one where it's an incredible show.
SPEAKER_03It's an incredible show. There's moments where they get real with each other and the guest. Yeah. It's you know, but like, yeah, there's nothing that I know in this genre.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I listen to Balls Out.
SPEAKER_02Uh that's what it's called.
SPEAKER_01I'll I'll I'll I'll lead you a little I'll read you the lunda. I'm not even that drunk. I'm doing it balls out uh with Ben Glaze uh Buzzcast. You know what that one's about. It's uh Buzz Sprouts podcast, talk about podcasting. Creative Ops. Okay, that's Chris Talons. I'm way behind it at this point. Oh, I was gonna say how often you'll see The Fighter and the Kid.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, check out I Can Complain. It's the worst fucking show. It's so funny, though. It's one of our gig listeners that I encourage them to, of course, I encourage them to podcast. Yeah, uh, this dude's got 81 episodes, and it's like it's the dumbest shit. You probably will get offended, but you should go listen to it. Uh that's it. Smart list, the strength running podcast. I'm 10 episodes behind on that. There's a long story behind that. Oh, because yeah, yeah, he's a the Rechoice podcast, of course. Joe. I'm behind in those. I'm behind in so many.
SPEAKER_03So I think if one is the most similar, it'd be Joe's.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, similar. I mean, he does interview base, so it's I don't think it's him getting deep if that's what you're looking for.
SPEAKER_03I think there's times where he does, but I feel like again, I haven't listened to a ton, but the ones I did, he got deep with people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, more his personal insight into some of things. Yeah. Some of things. Seriously, not even a buzz. I think it's because it's been two hours and I've been talking for two hours.
SPEAKER_03So so I yeah, I definitely would say that would be one um Joe Palerito's Retroice podcast would be one that would be a good which I was just on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And we just played, and we just played, so if you missed that, fuck you. Um I'm glad Joe's came back. I was really buzzed when he said he was done. And he had such peace about it. I don't really. I mean, I I I'm fine with it, but it's just like this is my baby. Like gig is my baby too, but I started thread six months after gig, and this is where I got to be myself. It got to be unfiltered, and yeah, it's just I'm gonna miss that that time.
SPEAKER_03It's so interesting that it's different because you weren't sad, but you're not at peace. I'm at peace, but sad. Yeah. Yeah. And again, I again way less episodes invested than you.
SPEAKER_01I mean, honestly, on the I'm looking forward to a break. Yeah. Like I don't have to worry about it after I edit this episode. Like, that's it. Yep, that's all she wrote.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I I actually already have the title made up final finale, because what what how much worse could it get? Well, yeah, but I mean it's not like people are gonna like I'm gonna click on it or not. Yeah, like there's no pressure of coming up with a title that people will click on. Yeah, the finale.
SPEAKER_01Um, and I'm almost always gonna host it, it'll always be available for the rest of my life.
SPEAKER_03And as you said, when when you when when when you die or Megan's offs you for the insurance money, your kids may cancel it.
SPEAKER_01But literally, it I I should put it in the trust. Yes, that you must maintain that this active inner inner what's the IP intellectual properties. It is owned by the trust, and if you can't. You don't get your money.
SPEAKER_03Like we're gonna because if you would how much money would you need to put into a fund where the where the interest could pay to host it?
SPEAKER_01It's five bucks a month. Well, anchor's free, but you know I don't deal with anchoring.
SPEAKER_03Five bucks a month for so however much money somebody who's smart used to be your financial advisor could help you, but now you have a different one.
SPEAKER_02Um damn sick bird.
SPEAKER_03So bad. But can you imagine? So however much it takes to make five five dollars a month, then it will pay for it, and that's just part of the trust. Always pay for it. Always pay for it. We will live for all of eternity. I think it's super cool.
SPEAKER_01You don't realize what you've created with this because your great great great great great grandkids could go back and listen to this shit. Yeah, I mean Earth will be burned up by then, but it's gonna be but I mean what what a cool experience. How many people have that? Yeah, you know, I'm missing like do you know how to get Facebook videos off like your memories? Like you see shit? Like, I don't know where this this video is, I don't have it on a device anywhere. How do I get that video? Oh, I can't download it. No, like when I prep the show, I can't rip Facebook videos.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Facebook is weird like that.
SPEAKER_01But well, it's been real. It's been real. Do you want to touch tips before we go on camera? And really get banned? Oh my gosh. To one final swig of mouth water or dirty.
SPEAKER_03You're not even water at that point.
SPEAKER_01So have a good night, guys. Uh, thank you for listening. And as always, do your work.
unknownKeep the faith, do your work, live.
SPEAKER_01I can't even fucking say it. I can't even hear you. Keep your work.
SPEAKER_03No! Keep the faith, do your work, live life unfiltered. Peace.
