In this episode of the Headset Advisor Podcast, you'll learn about a product that can give your favorite pair of headphones studio quality sound.  Premium headsets like  Sony, or Bose, aren't really designed  to  provide you with microphone quality that rivals elite business calibre headsets. Well, you now have a tool at your disposal  that can allow you to use those headphones even on business call.

This  Podcast will give you some new, and interesting information on this new  product, including:

  • The two different versions that are available
  • The  two different operating modes, and what they do
  • How they connect to your computer, and to your headphones
  • How much battery life to expect
  • Pricing
  • And, a special discount offer so you can get a better price

The ModMic probably isn't a product you've ever heard about. I know I never did. But, like with many new products, it's designed to solve a problem. In this case, it's designed to give underperforming, poor sounding headphones a boost to voice audio quality. Headphones overall, aren't known for delivering great sound quality for the spoken  word. They're really designed to give a great listening experience, of which they do a great job.

This device is detachable, which means you can magnetically attach it to your headphones when you need to be on a business call, and remove it when you don't need it. This is very convenient.

With the introduction of the ModMic, you can adapt your favorite headphones into a business warrior.

The ModMic comes in two versions;

  1. USB Wired
  2. USB Wireless

With the wired version, you simply plug it into your USB port. And, the wireless version comes with a USB receiver, which is said to deliver up to 5 times faster than typical  Bluetooth connections.

The ModMic can be used in two configurations. The first is Omni-directional, and the second is Uni-directional.  Here's how they differ:

  • Omni-directional mode is designed to give you studio quality sound. And, in our tests, it delivers. Absolutely amazing sound  quality.
  • The Uni-directional  mode is said to reduce unwanted background noise. We tested that, and frankly, it came up short. We could easily hear the background noise that it was supposed to eliminate. So, my take on that is more work needs to be  done before they can truly claim this to be a noise canceling microphone.  However, with that  said, there is an App called Krisp which is designed to reduce background noise. If you used the ModMic in tandem with Krisp, you might end up with a better outcome over using it by itself.

The ModMic is compatible with MAC, Unex, Windows and PS4/PS5 devices.

in  terms of battery life, you get 12 hours of talk  time, and you can continue using it even when it's charging, which is nice.
