Everyone who uses a computer at one time or another experiences frustration when it comes to using passwords. And I'm sure you know what I'm referring to. You know, you go to log in, and for one reason or another, you forgot your password and as a result, you're not getting access.
So what do you do? Chances are, you'll be clicking on that "forgot password" link in order to retrieve it. And if you're lucky, you'll have it sent to you, but it doesn't always go that way, because you'll probably end up having to create a new password. The frustration to that is now you have to remember a password that you'll hopefully remember.
I'm sure most of us would agree that using, and managing passwords is a big challenge at the very least. And though the idea I'd like to share with you today is the total solution to this problem, it is a beginning.
If you use a computer that's running Windows 10 or 11, you have a couple of features built in that can be helpful. Here's what I mean.
if you go to settings, accounts, sign in options, facial recognition Windows Hello, click on the box next to "use your face to sign into Windows, Apps and Service", then create a PIN as a backup login method, you can access Windows Hello.
Windows Hello allows you to login to your computer using your face, via a biometric, facial recognition webcam, such as the JPL Vision Access HD model. No more passwords to log in to your Windows 10, and 11 computers. Walk up, sit down, have a good look at your monitor, and logging in is done automatically.
There’s also another feature that works in tandem with Windows Hello that you might want to know about. This is called “Dynamic Lock.” This is how that feature works;
Under Dynamic Lock in Windows 10 and 11, you’ll see “allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you’re away” check that box. Then, take your phone with you when you step away from your computer, and when you’re out of Bluetooth range, your computer will lock automatically. When you return to your desk, you’d then log back in using your face.
Dynamic Lock is a very useful feature especially in work environments where there’s sensitive, and confidential information. It simply adds another layer of security, and these days, you can never have enough of that.
NOTE: You need to use a biometric, facial recognition HD webcam for Windows Hello to work. A very good choice is the JPL Vision Access webcam.
