Videoconferencing has really come a long way. When this technology first appeared, it had a much different look compared to what you find today. Back then, the videoconferencing systems were large, premise based, and extremely expensive. Latency was a regular issue due to insufficient bandwidth, but in spite of the many challenges associated with those first generation systems, it was clear that businesses wanted this technology.

Fast forward to today, the the video systems are completely different. They're affordable to anyone because systems today run  on the badwidth we use every day, and on our every day devices too. That puts videoconferencing within the financial reach of anyone.

In this episode, I'll  introduce you to a new member to the videoconferencing community. This new model is not only affordable, and it carries a familiar name that's always associated with quality. I'm referring to the name Bose.

Bose announced a new portable, all in one videoconferencing system that has some impressive features, and image and sound quality. This is the Bose VB-S. This is the smaller version of the Bose VB-1.  So let's find out a few things about this new Bose conferencing system.

To begin, it's easy to connect, and get up and running. On the back, there's  a  power cable, and a USB cord. Plug both in, and essentially, you're  ready to get conferencing. Pretty easy wouldn't you say? The VB-S connects via WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB.

The image quality is first rate. The Bose VB-S uses a 4K camera with an impressive resolution of 2160p. This is four times the resolution and picture quality over the highly popular 1080p. The camera has a 5x digital zoom  that can automatically keep in frame the speaker, even when pacing. It can also automatically keep in frame a group so nobody's left out of the  picture. And you get a full 30 frames per second for real life, full  motion video.

There are four, noise canceling beamforming microphones that deliver that immersive Bose sound. Bose included a feature  on this device called "exclusion zones". This feature allows you to select an area in your meeting room to surpress sound from. So if you have noise coming from  an area, select that zone, and the microphones will ignore the sound. This helps to keep your meeting sounding its best.

The microphones are designed to pick up to 13 feet, and the VB-S is capable of handling up to about 6 people, and a room  to 10 feet by 10 feet.

The Bose VB-S is compatible with Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, Zoom, Google Meet and many other popular UC platforms.

The Bose VB-S comes with an IR remote so you can pan, tilt, zoom and other things common to  these video systems. But, you also can download the Bose  Work app to do these  things, and a lot  more.

The Bose VB-S price is $799.00. Given the high end build quality, the impressive, razor sharp HD image, and Bose sound, makes this a video system worth your time to consider.
