Have you ever chosen to ring in the New Year in solitude? That's exactly how I welcomed 2024, in this latest podcast episode, I share why this solo celebration was anything but lonely. It's a reflection on the transformative power of solitude and how intentional isolation since last June has been instrumental in my personal development. This episode isn't just about my story, though—it's a conversation about setting boundaries, crafting the life you want, and the importance of consistency in growth, even when it's accompanied by the inevitable ebb and flow of life's challenges.

Speaker 1:

Good morning everyone and welcome back to this Is Me podcast. First and foremost, happy new year. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your friends and family and brought in the new year. Bless you. So I hope you brought in the new year filled with love, joy and positive moments. I brought mine in by myself. The kids were with their dad, I was home on my couch and I wanted it that way. Throughout the day I cleaned, I just felt amazing and you know I'm not going to lie Like, by the time it got to like 11 o'clock, I'm like man, this is pretty sad. And I think that because I was speaking to some of my friends and they're like you're going to be by yourself. They were just so confused but I'm like, yeah, like what's wrong with being by myself? And then, when it got a little closer, I'm like man, is this sad? Is this like pretty pathetic that I'm by myself? And then I thought about it. I said no, it's not, because this is exactly how I wanted to bring it in.

Speaker 1:

I have, I think, since June of last year, of 2023, I have really been intentional and focusing, doing the work regarding my surroundings, what I want for myself, being really unapologetically myself, setting my boundaries. And you know, with that comes isolation, and I think in order to really get an understanding and clarity there, it has to come with some sort of isolation. And it doesn't mean anything against anyone, but in order for you to really hear yourself and hear your thoughts, it's going to require a moment of isolation, because if you're distracted by the noise around you, you won't be able to hear yourself, you won't be able to understand yourself, you won't be able to really get that clarity that you need in your life. And, yeah, I'm looking forward to January, to the year 2024, for more clarity and understanding. I think that with each year, you grow as a person and I honestly believe that if you're not growing, you're not living.

Speaker 1:

I am entering my 40s this year. I am very excited. I feel better than ever, although I do get my moments, which is normal because we're only human, but I really, I'm really focusing on having great moments all the time, and I know it's very difficult. I think exhaustion really takes over and I'm just trying to really be consistent, because I tend to be consistent, fall off, be consistent, fall off, which I don't beat myself up about it. However, when I get back on, those days of falling off are decreasing, and that, to me, is growth. So, again, this word grace I know I've mentioned it before giving ourselves a little bit of grace, giving myself some gratitude and saying to myself that I'm proud of myself for staying 10 toes down and being intentional with who I am and really honing in on my worth and being proud of that.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, you all, if you didn't start in 2023, it's all right. There is no playbook to this thing called life. You just have to do what works for you. Don't allow for anyone to tell you how to live your life or, if it doesn't make sense to them, great, because it's not supposed to. I just pray that God continues to guide you, lead you, remove that negativity that surrounds you and fulfill your positivity. I pray that anything that you've asked God for, that he gives it to you and fills up your cup so you're able to fill someone else's cup. I hope this word today helps someone. I hope you all make today your first day to be the best version of yourself and, as always, make sure you like, subscribe and share my podcast if you think that someone can benefit from it and I love you all. I will talk to you soon.
