Show Notes

IRL has become the fastest growing #1 calendar in the App Store, raising $16M dollars and scaling through the pandemic.

Abraham Shafi is an American entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of IRL, a Social Calendar helping people come together and meet over shared interests and events. IRL is one of the top social networking platforms and the only one designed to encourage users to spend time off of the platform and engage with their network “IRL.”

IRL (“In Real Life”) built an entire platform around event discovery and created the first calendar that is truly social. Through API partnerships with YouTube, Twitch and Spotify, as well as user-generated content, IRL aggregates all the virtual events across the globe into a curated, categorized home page. It quickly became the ultimate social network for organizing what you and your friends are doing while meeting new people over shared interests.

After stay-at-home orders were mandated, Abe knew he had to pivot, as the workforce was already drastically changing. In Real Life became In Remote Life, and the platform placed a larger emphasis on building out IRL’s library of virtual events like; streamed concerts to virtual art exhibitions and more.
