Ghost Spark Part 2

Ghosts have trapped Bobby Ray and Winston in the spirit dimension after being sucked into the mirror portal at Skinner's Haunted House, and time is running out. Meanwhile, Big D and Joe Cletus use the help of town psychic, Madam Roweena, and her spirit guide, Mr. Chattajee, to find and plan a rescue for the boys. Will they succeed, or will our hapless ghost chasers be lost forever?

Howdy y’all. Welcome to Mosquito Springs. I’m Big D and I’m joined by Joe Cletus out here in Sutter’s Woods. So, Grab you something cold to drink and cross your fingers that we’ll be able to bring Bobby Ray and Winston back from the other side tonight.

Bobby Ray 0:40
(Over radio) hey, we’re missing the State Fair of Texas being stuck in here, you know.

Big D 0:45
I know, Bobby Ray. And we brought some of the fried goodies you asked for with us. (Bags rustling) We’ve got Lobster Corndogs from Trio on the Green, and Fried Lemon Icebox pie balls from Gourmet Royale & Southern Fried Chicken.

Winston 1:00
(Over radio) oh, that sounds awesome, man.

Bobby Ray 1:03
(Over radio) you didn’t forget the sweet tea this time did ya?

Big D 1:07
No, we’ve got plenty of sweet tea and an Igloo water cooler full of iced water, too.

Bobby Ray 1:12
(Over radio) Those Deep fried peach cobbler soul rolls and the Deep Fried Shrimp Étouffée from Pearlies Southern Kitchen you sent through the magic mirror to us last night was delicious.

Winston 1:23
(Over radio) That Bucket of fries with the chili, cheese and onions from Tracy’s Fry Trailer was pretty tasty, too.

Big D 1:32
If we don’t get them out again tonight, we’ll use the anti static grounded pole to slide the food through the magic mirror to them again at the haunted Skinner house. But I think we’re on to something this time.

Bobby Ray 1:45
We’re right here and you know we can hear you, don’t you?

Big D 1:49
I know, Bobby Ray. But we’re getting everyone else caught up on what happened to y’all since last time. And lucky for us, the radios we used in the ghost investigation at the Skinner house last week has kept us in touch with Bobby Ray and Winston when they got stuck in the other side in the spirit realm.

Big D 2:06
Ghosts pulled Bobby Ray and Winston through a mirror they found in the basement and they wound up in Sutter’s Woods the day before they left the Skinner house. 

Bobby Ray 2:16
(Over radio) they drove out here to the woods the next day to pick us up at the Haunted Glow Tree, but they couldn’t see us, even though we was standing right in the same spot as they was!

Big D 2:31
And we’ve been sending them food and other supplies through the spirit mirror at 2 am our time each morning, since that’s when the mirror activates.

Joe Cletus 2:39
Well, 2 am is right in the middle of the witching hours when you get the most spirit activity. 

Bobby Ray 2:47
(Over radio) spirits or not, I’m sure gonna miss these 2 o’clock feedings. (Laugh)

Big D 2:51
(Laughs) I bet you will. And it’s gonna be nice to sleep through the night for a change, that is if we get y’all out of that portal tonight.

Winston 2:59
(Over radio) I’m ready to get out of here, too. Misty Moonshine and the other llamas are probably missing me. 

Big D 3:09
Don’t worry, even with the new stock tank and them grazing, we’ve been checking in on them and making sure everything was OK out there at your place. We also made sure to keep their meditation music going. And Bobby Ray, we’ve been taking some of that state fair food and covered dishes over to Nadine and the kids as well. She says “hey.”

Bobby Ray 3:29
(Over radio) tell her we said “hey” back at her.

Big D 3:31
You can tell her yourself when we get you out of there tonight.

Winston 3:34
(Over radio) We sure appreciated those sleeping bags and electric lanterns y’all sent through, ‘Cause It got kinda cold at night.

Bobby Ray 3:43
(Over radio) yep, and it was a  good thing we had my Ronco Pocket Chainsaw to cut wood up and Winston’s Lighter Buddy to get it started and scale the fish. Of course, we put it out each morning cause we follow tips from that Smokey the Bear fella and Betty White, who’s an honorary Park Ranger.

And speaking of bears, we solved that “does a bear poop in the woods” retorical question. The answer is empathatically yes, and apparently he really likes those truck stop burritos. Whew! I hope you brought us a BIG Poopouri bottle to cover up THAT aromagic joy!

Joe Cletus 4:22
I think I’ve got some of that in the glove box next to the holy water.

We’re out here in Joe Cletus’ ‘48 Dodge Powerwagon trying something new based on what our town psychic, Madam Roweena told us about where the boys were.

(Over radio) uh, oh. Get ready for a flashback…

(Flashback sound) 4:40

Madam Roweena’s ‘20s style bungalow looked pretty normal on the outside.

It sure doesn’t prepare you for the inside, though.

I know. It’s kind of a cross between King Tut Egyptian explorer and New Orleans Swamp Voodoo. 

Joe Cletus 5:08
And she looks a bit like Bella Lugosi if you ask me. On a bad day.

(Bead curtain parting) 5:15

(Over radio) did someone say biscuits? Y’all are making my mouth water.

Madam Roweena 5:35
oh my, I’m already channeling the disembodied spirit of Bobby Ray from the other side.

Big D 5:45
No, ma’am, that’s actually Bobby Ray on my radio. 

Madam Roweena 5:48
Phew! I thought that might be a bit soon. I usually have to call my spirit guide first. Sugar and cream?

Big D 5:57
Just Two sugars, please.

Madam Roweena 5:59

Joe Cletus 6:00
Two creamers and four sugars.

(Over radio) what was that?  high noon at the old chaparral? 

Madam Roweena 6:12
I am cleansing the room so the spirits can be more receptive. (To spirit guide) “Bakshi Chatterjee, I need your assistance.”

Bobby Ray 6:24
(Over radio) calling Dr Howard, Dr Fine, Dr Chatterjee.” (Laugh)

Big D 6:28
Just hush!

(Over radio) (laugh) 6:29

(Disembodied voice) I am here, Madam Roweena.

Are you well, Mr. Chatterjee?

Chatterjee 6:40
(Disembodied voice) Well, I am a bit bloated, but what should it matter. No one has time to hear such lament. How can I help today?

We have two lost souls we need to find who disappeared from the Slaughter house recently.

Chatterjee 6:55
(Disembodied voice) I see them. Yet they are where they cannot be seen. You must Devine to find what is thine.

Bobby Ray 7:04
(Over radio) now what’s that gobbledegook supposed to mean?

Chatterjee 7:07
(Disembodied voice) whata I have to do, spell it out for ya? just use the crystal pendant and the map. There’s no appreciation for theater any more. Chatterjee out. 

(Mic drop) 7:22

Madam Roweena 7:23
Mr. Chattagee said we can find your friends by divining with this crystal pendent over the old map of Mosquito Springs on the table over here.

Joe Cletus 7:37
That map must be 50 or 60 years old. 

Madam Roweena 7:42
It still suits our purpose perfectly. Now, Let’s sit around the table and hold hands.

Bobby Ray 7:52
(Over radio) I bet she’s gonna try and sneak a kiss. Better watch out. (Laugh)

Big D 7:57
Hush Bobby Ray. She’s trying to help us save you guys.

Bobby Ray 8:00
(Over radio) heck, if she gets us out of here, *I’ll* give her a kiss!

Madam Roweena 8:06
Now we must all concentrate on finding Bobby Ray and Winston to give the pendent energy and direction.

Winston 8:17
(over radio) we’ll concentrate real hard, too, man.

Madam Roweena 8:21
That should give us an extra powerful boost. Now concentrate. The pendent is moving…moving toward Sutter’s Woods.

Bobby Ray 8:37
(Over radio) we already knows that!

Madam Roweena 8:39
It is pulling hard toward the Glow Tree and…oh, my! it ripped out of my hand and heading toward the ceiling!

(Bing, bang, boing, clunk) 8:50

Joe Cletus 8:56
It’s bounced off the ceiling and walls and I don’t see it no where!

Madam Roweena 9:00
No problem. I have an app for that. 

Bobby Ray 9:02
(Over radio) well, of course you do.

The Find My Chrystal app locates any of my crystals with a beep that gets faster the closer I get to it.

This is perplexing. It’s strongest on the Glow Tree spot on the map, but there’s: nothing there.

Big D 9:25
Maybe it’s under the table.

My You are correct, Big D. But it is not just lying under the table, it is stuck to the underside of the table directly under the Glow Tree point on the map!

Joe Cletus 9:44
What does that mean?

Madam Roweena 9:48
It means that the boys are indeed in Sutter’s Woods, but in the spirit dimension on the other side of the portal.

Big D 9:56
Portal? What portal?

Madam Roweena 9:59
The tree itself. It’s a Yew, you know. Probably about a thousand years old, and sacred in Irish and other cultures with great metaphysical and physical powers. 

Madam Roweena 10:12
But the portal there can only be opened by recreating the lightening you experienced on the night the boys were sucked into the Spirit Mirror portal that is also accessible through the Glow Tree in Sutter’s Woods.

Big D 10:28
And if we do that we will be able to pull them back through to this side of the portal?

Madam Roweena 10:32
Yes. But it must done within a fortnight of being trapped there or they become permanent residents of the spirit realm.

Bobby Ray 10:44
(Over radio) Do what now?

Big D 10:46
So, we only have a few days left and there aren’t any lightening storms predicted for the rest of the week.

Winston 10:53
(Over radio) oh, I don’t like the sound of that.

Joe Cletus 10:56
Hmmm…Don’t worry, think we’ve got this.

Bobby Ray 10:59
(Over radio) you thinks you got it? I was hoping for something more concrete than that!

Joe Cletus 11:04
I’ve got something at my shop I’ve been working on that’ll give us just what we need.

(Ending flashback sound) 11:10

So that’s how we ended up out here in Sutter’s Woods trying to recreate lightening to open the spirit portal with Joe Cletus’ secret weapon he had back at his shop. So tell us what you’ve got here, Joe Cletus.

Joe Cletus 11:28
Well, we’ve got the modified generator on the Dodge Power wagon that’s providing the base power for the jumbo Tesla coils on the trailer which has also been amped up to provide the lightening strike that will travel the electric cable attached to the spirit glow tree. 

Big D 11:47
Then we should be able to pull them out of the spirit realm after the lightening strike?

Joe Cletus 11:51
Sure as shootin’. Now, put on these headphones that will protect your ears from the sound of the lightening blast and still let us hear the boys on the radio. 

Big D 12:01
Got it.

Joe Cletus 12:02
And these goggles to protect your eyes and the grounded jumpsuits we’re wearing should keep us safe during the power transfer. Finally, these ropes tied to the Power Wagon and to our harnesses will keep us from being pulled into the portal when grabbing the boys.

(Lever clunk) 12:19

(Over radio) as ready as a groom on his wedding night.

The power’s really building up now.

(Small thunder crash) 12:44

That was just a small one. The next one should be what we need to get them out.
