Susan K Macias Bio

Susan Macias loves words, and employs them to make much of Jesus and point others to their loving Heavenly Father, whether in her books, her blog, or on her podcast. An award-winning author of three non-fiction books, her novel, Finding Home, reveals how deeply our Heavenly Father loves us.

Susan's Story

After I retired from twenty-seven years of homeschooling, I answered the next call God’s gave me. As a Christian writer and speaker, I use honesty, transparency, truth from the Word, and a little humor.

And I strive to exhort women to engage in their circumstances so that God is glorified and the Kingdom is expanded. Few things thrill me like sharing Jesus with my sisters.

Oh friend, the Lord calls us to His purposes. Let’s keep fighting the good fight, even when we feel we don’t have much fight left. Jesus will enable us because the hurting world needs us!

Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:00]:
Hey, friends. This is Rhonda Stoppe with Old Ladies Know Stuff. Super excited today because we are at the Spark Media Christianspeaker Conference in Spring Texas, I guestcast where we are. And I am here today with my friend,

Susan Macias [00:00:17]:
Susan Macias with the We Are Not Done Yet guestcast, and excited to be here. And, you know, we are at a stage in life where we're learning new things, and and I love coming around and seeing how many people are wanting to proclaim Jesus.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:31]:
Yes. And we're not done yet.

Susan Macias [00:00:32]:
Man, we're not done yet. And old ladies know Stoppe, so we should share it. Right?

Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:36]:
We're sharing it. So this is gonna be on my podcast, and we might find it on Susan's

Susan Macias [00:00:40]:
podcast also. Absolutely.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:42]:
And so tell your friends because, you know what, this season of life, I know a lot of people that kinda think, oh, let the young ones do it. Let the let the whippersnappers know how to use that social media. Figure it out. And, yeah, it's a challenge done every 12 year old knows way more about my iPhone than I do. Mhmm. And yet, what an incredible platform and place that God has given us in this season of our lives.

Susan Macias [00:01:08]:
It is. And I I love in scripture that it constantly tells us to claim, to tell, to speak the name of Jesus. And and we live in a time instead of bemoaning the times we live in. Yeah. There's a lot done podcast to go around the world. And I have one episode of my podcast affair done found in India. And it has it has been listened to in India all these times. It's like, how could I talk to people about Jesus and our identity as a sinner and knowing where we find our hope in him in India any other way than this.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:01:50]:
You know, and that's I think of that prayer where God does exceedingly and abundantly above what we can ask or imagine. Isn't that true? Mhmm. Like, really, when we first stuck our toe in the water of podcasting or writing a book or being an author or a speaker, you know, you kinda just not whispers to your heart what he wants you to do, but then he opens doors that you really didn't expect. If you just say yet. Right? You just walk in obedience.

Susan Macias [00:02:16]:
But you have to do it scared. You have to be willing. I'm gonna say it again. Do it scared. Yeah. Do it when you don't know how to do it. Don't wait till you figure everything out. I've learned more by doing, making mistakes, doing it wrong, doing it affair, the I would Done, yeah, you cry sometimes at the technology.

Susan Macias [00:02:34]:
Let's just be honest. There are times where I wanna throw it across the proof. But on the other hand, you just do it. Yeah. Do it in the simplest way you can do it. Add complexity as you get better at what you're doing. But you are called to proclaim the name of Jesus. If you are a a follower of his, you don't need you don't need to get paid by anybody.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:02:56]:
Yeah. Right.

Susan Macias [00:02:57]:
To proclaim his name.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:02:58]:
So let's speak to all the old ladies who know stuff that are my age and your age and who are empty nesters done who are, like, what's next, Were? So I love your podcast. We're not done yet. So what's like the done marching orders, encouragement, that one thing you'd like to leave them with, to inspire them, to encourage them, or whatever you'd like to say.

Susan Macias [00:03:19]:
Mhmm. I I think it's that to agree with the Lord that you have work to do. We see older people all through scripture that are working, that are doing, and that they are doing what the lord is leading them to do. And if you say, well, I don't know. Have you asked? Ask him done then go serve. And on the way of serving, it might be in your church. It might be at the nursery, letting the young moms out of the nursery. It might be at a a mission for homeless people.

Susan Macias [00:03:50]:
It could be what what's on your heart? What issue do you care about? Go serve. If you serve in the name of Jesus, he will show you where to go. It's taken done Stoppe. And we wanna I I know, I personally wanna know the next 28 steps done have a spreadsheet to figure out exactly what's gonna happen the. And that is not how God works. It's taking done faithful step and then taking the next faithful step done it doesn't have to be written on the wall. It's following the Lord.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:04:19]:
Yes. I love that. And I think sometimes were think it has to be something big. Yet I love that you said guest go work in the nursery. I remember when I had my 3rd child and I was so struggling with postpartum and overwhelmed. It was just so much. And just being able to put my little baby in the arms of a nursery worker so that I could go sit in church and listen was such a gift. Mhmm.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:04:42]:
And I think sometimes done kinda think, well, let's guest let the young moms work in the nursery. They need a break. They don't wanna do boogers and bums all today long. And you and I know it's it's over in a minute. But when you're in the thick of it and you're exhausted, you just want there was a book I used to read to my kids called, I want 5 minutes peace from all of you. I still have it on the bookshop. They laugh. But I remember just that gift that someone said, let me take your baby, go go to church, go listen.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:05:12]:
I I I think we need to not always look at the big things done say, god, what what's the one thing you want me to do today to encourage someone with my wisdom, with my discernment, and with my time? Yeah. Because we have time Yeah. That we've never had when we were We stay at home moms or working moms or all the things. Right?

Susan Macias [00:05:30]:
Yeah. Were do. And I love the name of your podcast, Old Ladies Know Stoppe. Because done what a waste for us to sit at home and hold all that stuff we've learned the hard way. Mhmm. So what what do you say to women in our age?

Rhonda Stoppe [00:05:44]:
Well, I say we're not done yet. Uh-huh. Done, honestly, we teach more passionately from our failures than we do

Susan Macias [00:05:50]:
our successes.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:05:51]:
And when we look around and we think, oh, they're looking for someone who did it all right. You know, the Bible's full of people who didn't do it all right. The Bible is full of people who got deeply wounded. I think of Anna in scripture. Yeah. She was widowed after a short time. Didn't have any children. Just lived in the temple.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:06:12]:
And then when Simeon held baby Jesus in his arms and said, today, day. I can die how. Consolation of Israel. And she walked by. I love the. It says, quote, in that moment Yes. God's design, this frail, probably 84 year old woman walked by in that mentor. And then it says she spent the rest of her life proclaiming, I've met the Messiah.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:06:36]:
If you wanna turn the world upside down, spend the rest of your life proclaiming, I've met the messiah, and he can change your life because he changed mine.

Susan Macias [00:06:44]:
Yeah. And I think it's so important. I've I have more connection with young moms when I talk about how hard it was. Because they look at, k, now my kids are grown done they're doing things and they're raising kids done, oh, well, you know, were, it was easier for you. And it's like, not. There were days where I was dragging myself by my fingernails down the hall and forcing myself to do one more day. And they need to know that. They need to they need the message of the sustainment of the Lord through the valley of the shadow of death.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:07:19]:
That's right. Right? To what God has called us, he will equip us. Yeah. But he also calls Titus to women, old ladies, to share our Stoppe. Yeah. And to weep with those done to rejoice with the. Mhmm. And to encourage them done really be their friends.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:07:37]:
They need friends that are old ladies who know stuff because we're not done yet.

Susan Macias [00:07:41]:
We're not done yet.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:07:42]:
Oh, I

Susan Macias [00:07:42]:
love this. It's so good.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:07:44]:
So much. I loved it. Okay. Bye. Bye bye.
