James Johnson was raised by a devoted single mom on the south side of Chicago. Regardless of his caring upbringing, James chose a life of rebellion and drugs in his teen years that spiraled into full-blown addiction for 45 years of his life.
It wasn’t until James withered away to 135 pounds and had a bad overdose that he was truly at the end of his rope--at 60 years old. With the help of Wayside Cross Ministries, James was able to finally lay drugs to rest and put Jesus in the center of his life. Because of his transformation, friends refer to him as "contagious and infectious." James devotes his time to spreading the love of Jesus and now serves as a greeter at his church and serves at Wayside Cross.
