Mornings With Jesus
Running to God Joshua Scott Zeitz
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that your first instinct was to run away from everything? That desperate feeling of wanting to escape your problems is something we all experience, but today's message offers a life-changing perspective on where we should run when life gets tough.
Through a beautifully crafted poem called "Running," we explore the journey from running away from God's goodness to running toward His loving arms. The poem paints a vivid picture of someone worn out from fighting their battles alone, making their bed in the darkness, and bound by chains of their own making. But the narrative shifts dramatically when they finally cry out to God and discover that divine pursuit never ceased. "I stepped out on the waves. Now there's joy in lieu of sorrow. In you, I found my healing." These words capture the profound transformation that occurs when we change direction and run toward God rather than away from Him.
What makes this message so powerful is its gentle reminder that no one is beyond redemption. "Are you running, hurting, lonely? Done things you never meant to? Come back to the Father. He longs to forgive you." The invitation extends to everyone, regardless of past mistakes or present struggles. The promise that "if you're on this side of glory, you can always start again" offers hope that today can be different if we choose to rest in God's loving arms. Whatever you're facing right now, take comfort in knowing that God has it under control, and His presence is just a prayer away. Will you join us in running toward Him rather than away from Him today?
Hello and welcome to Mornings with Jesus, your daily dose of encouragement. I am your host, joshua Scott Seitz. Today, I just wanted to take a moment and encourage you. Have you ever felt like the whole world is against you? You ever felt discouraged or lonely or just beat down? You ever feel like running away from your problems, running away from the world, running away from everything? If so, don't be discouraged. Be encouraged today. Listen, in those times of trouble, in those times of heartache, our best bet is to run to God and not from Him. And so today I wanted to share a poem called Running.
Speaker 0:I've been running from your goodness, running from your grace, an insult to your mercy. I've been running from your face, running from your presence, running from your ways, battered, bruised and broken. I've been running many days, worn out from the fighting, torn and losing pace, worn out from this world. But you were giving chase. I stepped out in the darkness and made my bed in hell. This world says now lay there. But your kindness never fails your promises unending your word, it doesn't change One spark to start a fire, just a whisper of your name. I cried out to you, lord. Lord, bound up in my chains, a prisoner of my making, bound up by my shame. This world says now stay there. But you remain the same. You said come out on the water. So I stepped out on the waves. Now there's joy and Lou of sorrow In you. I found my healing Strength to face tomorrow. To you, my king, I'm kneeling. Oh, I've tasted and I've seen. Your goodness is forever Beauty for these ashes. Your presence, my endeavor.
Speaker 0:Are you running, hurting, lonely? Done things you never meant to Come back to the Father. He longs to forgive you. No more hiding in the bushes, for he already knows. He turns your sorrow into gladness. He'll make you white as snow. So the moral of the story, this is not the end. If you're on this side of glory, you can always start again. So keep on running, running to him. Be encouraged today, fellow saints, no matter what you're facing today, no matter what's on the agenda for today, god's got this Rest in his loving arms today and run to him arms today. And run to him Until next time. Remember what you make happen for others, god will make happen for you.
