Mornings With Jesus
Mornings With Jesus
Table for Two | Joshua Scott Zeitz
Have you ever dismissed God's actions as simply "mysterious ways" that you'll never understand? Today's encouragement challenges that notion with a fresh perspective on our relationship with the Creator of the universe.
At the heart of Christianity lies an astounding truth: God doesn't want to keep you in the dark. Jesus explicitly told his disciples, "I no longer call you servants... Instead, I call you friends." This transformative statement reveals God's desire for transparency and intimacy with you. While servants remain outside the inner circle of knowledge, friends are invited into understanding.
The contrast couldn't be more striking. As one pastor wisely observed, "The devil hides things FROM us, but God hides things FOR us." This distinction changes everything about how we approach our faith journey. When God conceals wisdom, it's not to exclude us but to invite us into the treasure hunt of discovery—a process that builds relationship and intimacy with Him.
Jesus didn't merely come to earth as a distant savior issuing prescriptions for our spiritual maladies from behind glass. He immersed Himself completely in our messy human experience. The God of the universe reserves a table for two with your name on it—a personal, one-on-one relationship that transcends religious obligation. He stands at the door of your heart, knocking gently, waiting to be invited in for unhurried conversation.
Whether you've been sitting regularly with God or it's been months since your last meaningful connection, today's message offers reassurance: He isn't disappointed in your absence. He's madly in love with you, holding your seat at His table. Will you accept the invitation to sit with Him today?
Hello and welcome to Mornings with Jesus, your daily dose of encouragement. I am your host, Joshua Scott Zaitz. Today's encouragement comes from John, chapter 17 and verse 3. And this is life eternal that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Have you ever heard someone say God works in mysterious ways? While this may be true in a sense, it isn't entirely true in the context it's usually presented in Sadly. Oftentimes, expressions like this are used to mean that God does whatever he pleases and we are left out of the loop.
Speaker 0:I have some awesome news for you today. God desires for us to be in the know as to what he is doing in the earth. In fact, Jesus said to his disciples, and to us by extension henceforth, I call you not servants, for the servant knows not what his Lord does, but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my father I have made known unto you. John 15 15. I love what my pastor says. He says the devil hides things from us, but God hides things for us. Sure, we may have to dig a little, but it's in the digging process that we develop an intimacy with the Father. After all, that's the ultimate reason Jesus came to earth. He didn't come simply to die for our sins only, although I am sure glad he did. He came to reconcile us to the Father, to bring us back into relationship with Him. In essence, once we get born again, we reserve our table with the Father one-on-one, a table for two. Now, that is awesome news, In fact.
Speaker 0:God says in Jeremiah 33 in verse 3, call unto me and I will answer you and show you things you do not know. I heard a pastor say one time God did not sit behind a plate glass window and hand us a prescription for our malady. No, instead he got in our mess. What an awesome God we serve. And he so desires to know you personally and intimately. And vice versa, he wants to sit at the table with you. Jesus said in Revelation 3 in verse 20, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens that door, I will come into him and dine with him and he with me. If it's been a while since you sat alone with him, take some time today. Remember, he isn't mad at you, he's madly in love with you. Your seat is already reserved. Come and sit a while with him today. Remember until next time what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.
