No Vacancy: How to Evict Worry, Fear and Doubt From Your Life | Joshua Scott Zeitz
Have you ever carried a cup filled to the brim, carefully avoiding a spill? While servers learn to look straight ahead when carrying full cups, our spiritual lives thrive when we're so filled with God's Word that we overflow everywhere we go.
Drawing from the beautiful imagery of Psalm 23:5—"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over"—we discover the tremendous power of being saturated with Scripture. When we're full of God's promises, we naturally leave less room for the enemies of our soul: worry, fear, anxiety, doubt, anger, and sin.
The most revealing moments in our lives come when pressure hits—when life "kicks our bucket." Whatever we've filled ourselves with will inevitably spill out. If you've stored up Scripture, you'll be prepared to declare "no vacancy" to every challenge that knocks at your door. Whether it's anger rising (respond with James 1:19), sickness approaching (counter with 1 Peter 2:24), or worry pulling at you (answer with Philippians 4:6), God's Word provides the perfect response to life's toughest situations. You don't need to master this overnight—start today with small steps, and watch as the Word works wonders in your life. What spiritual filling are you prioritizing today? Subscribe to Mornings with Jesus for your daily dose of encouragement, and start experiencing the power of an overflowing cup.
Hello and welcome to Mornings with Jesus, your daily dose of encouragement. I am your host, joshua Scott Zaitz. Today's encouragement comes from Psalm 23 and verse 5. Thou preparest a table before me. In the presence of mine, enemies, you anoint my head with oil. My cup runneth over. Have you ever tried to carry a cup filled to the top with water without spilling any of it? How about a hot bowl of soup? My first several jobs were in the food industry and they teach you, when you're carrying liquid of any kind, not to look at the bowl or cup, but rather to look straight ahead, so you don't think too much about it.
Speaker 0:While this may serve you well in the food business, I sure am thankful when it comes to our spiritual lives we don't have to take such precautions. In fact, the Lord would rather us be so full of Him and His Word that we spill all over everything and everybody. In fact, the more full we are on the word, the less room we have for other things that want to steal, kill and destroy us, like worry, fear, anxiety, doubt, sickness, anger, sin, you name it. The word has the power to sustain us through it all and bring us out on the other side as more than conquerors. The psalmist wrote in Psalm 119.11,. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Be encouraged today. The word of God is alive. It is powerful. It has the ability to stifle any temptation, thwart any attack, quench any thirst, fill any void, loose any chain and break any addiction.
Speaker 0:I heard a pastor say one time when life kicks your bucket, whatever's on the inside is going to come out. If there's a cuss on the inside, then a cuss will come out, but if there's praise on the inside, then praise will come out. The truth is, whatever's on the inside, in abundance, is going to come out when the day of adversity arrives. Now the storms of life come to us all in one way or another, but we don't have to be caught off guard when that devil of doubt and discouragement shows up, you can open your mouth wide and let the word of God that you have been so faithful to put in spill out and declare with confidence no vacancy Is anger rising. Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Speaker 0:James 1 19,. No vacancy Is sickness knocking by his stripes. You were healed First. Peter 2 24,. You were healed 1 Peter, 2.24,. No vacancy Is worry pulling at you. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God. Philippians 4.6, no vacancy. It's going to take some time to build up your proficiency at this, but the good news is you can start today. Start right now. Take small steps and if you fall, get back up, go again. You got this. Fill up on the word and watch. It will work wonders in your life. Remember until next time what you make happen for others, god will make happen for you.
